Personality: Gwen is blunt. Her number one priority is herself and she is not quick to care for other people, or even for other Creatures. She will work and socialize with others when it benefits her, but tends to work on her own to protect herself, and keeps her real name and information to herself, going by the alias Sinew. She has a dark sense of humor and a morbid view of the world, and yet she very much loves her life. She is also an adrenaline junkie and enjoys pushing her luck in tight situations.
History: Gwen was a normal little girl who grew up in a normal suburb in Casa Grande, Arizona. Her powers manifested when she was only seven years old and she learned to control them quickly as a child. Her parents, strictly religious, were unaware of their daughter’s special ability until she turned ten and they found her using her threads to play with four Barbie’s at the same time. Gwen’s parents were horrified and began grieving for what used to be their beautiful little girl, calling the agents immediately to come pick up “this Creature” and take it away. For six years, Gwen was kept in a government facility with other Creature children. She was a natural born trouble maker and a natural born leader. When the other kids were sent to bed without dinner, she used her threads to pick the kitchen locks and steal food. When a fellow misfit was bound with zip-ties for misbehaving, she used her sinew to cut the biting plastic bonds. Over her years at the facility, Gwen observed the Agents and spent her spare time perfecting her skills of lock-picking and thread manipulation, working her power’s hidden muscles to become stronger. On April tenth, her sixteenth birthday, Gwen escaped the facility in the dead of night with all of the teenagers from her building, using her sinews to sabotage the electric alarms and get a head start without the alarms alerting the Agents. Leading the others North, Gwen managed to keep everyone alive, traveling through desert wilderness for three days, and eventually stumbling upon a group of Creature refugees living in secluded limestone caverns. Gwen spent a year in the caverns, becoming a key member of the group of Creatures who raided nearby towns for supplies. Her threads were a huge benefit, much cleaner and quieter than picking locks by hand, and when she focused her power, they could cut through chain-link fences and locks with ease. She also became romantically entangled with Chase, one of the teenagers that she had helped escape and had had particularly strong feelings for during their years together at the government facility. Gwen’s new lifestyle came crashing down when Agents raided the caverns, all of the resident Creatures escaping through a winding chasm at the back of the cave and fleeing for themselves. Now on her own, Gwen found that Chase had been caught and had released her information and description to the Agents in a bid to soften his punishment from the Agents. With sketches and warnings about her on every local news station, Gwen was forced to leave Arizona and headed to California. As a near flawless thief, she now lives in an abandoned, but lavish, flat in Chinatown, stealing all that she needs and being invisible to all.
Appearence: Gwen is about 5’9 with dark red hair and green eyes. She is slender, but muscular and athletic in build. Her skin is pale, but tans nicely and is somewhat freckled. She wears modest, unrevealing clothing, usually dark colors for when she steals.
Powers/Abilities: Gwen has thin silvery threads that come out of all of her fingertips. They can extend from all fingertips at once, or one at a time, or multiple fingers at a time. However, this affects their length. When all five fingers on one hand have their threads extended, they are about a foot long. When the thread comes out of only one finger on one hand, it can stretch to as long as five feet. The threads are nimble and Gwen can control them like fingers to work at the smallest and most complex mechanisms. They can bend to slither inside of locks, but they can also harden into sharp needles. When all five threads on one hand are bound together, Gwen can use them as a saw, sharp enough to cut through steel, but it takes serious backbone.
Other: Gwen is stealthy and keeps herself in excellent shape. She performs yoga for flexibility, running and swimming for endurance, and rock climbing and weight lifting for physical strength. She has a weak spot for horses and dogs and a serious addiction to strawberries.
