Several days has passed since Usiku and Subu's little spat at the watering hole over him not having left yet. Those days had been full of awkward silence from the both sides. For Usiku, it hadn't been so much a matter of not wanting to talk, but more struggling with her thoughts. She feared that is she spoke to him too much something would slip out that she didn't quite want to say. What if she told him how she felt and he rejected her? Well then so be it, she told herself. Stop being such a worry wart.

Her head swiveled to glance at him. Well he must care for her a bit right? After all he had spent all this time taking care of her, helping her heal, hunter for her when she was too weak to do so. No, she told herself, you don't need the hassle of having him around. You are independent, strong. Her limp was now gone and that could only mean he would be leaving today. That's what he had told her not too long ago, that he would leave once her limp was completely gone. "I do believe your nursing duty has come to an end." She told him as she stretcher her muscles, taking a few steps to show that she no longer had a limp.

Subu was still waking up when Usiku at long last decided to break her silence and speak with him. He might have been happy about that - had her first words not been that it was time for him to leave. Swiveling his head to look at her, Subu studied her gait with a practiced eye. As she implied it looked like her limp was completely gone - that wasn't a surprise Subu had been watching it diminish every day since their argument, slowly fading until all that were left were the scars - which time would eventfully take care of as well he knew. He had watched her recovery with a mixture of emotions - on one hand of course he was glad she was getting ell...on the other he dreaded the day she would be well enough for him to leave, when he could no longer fool himself into thinking he had a reason to sty. It seemed as though that day had come and though he inwardly let his chest constrict just a little he gave her a brief nod of his head. "Yes..it would appear it has" He told her "You've healed well, not even the sign of a limp left"

Usiku wondered briefly what would become of Subu after she left him. Don't dwell on it, she scolded herself. Probably go back to his harem of mates. She looked over at him, the marking on his face begging for her eyes to meet his. It took a lot of strength to not do so. She sat back down, letting out a yawn. It was the only way she could find to look away from him. She planned to go hunting after he left, it would give her time to think on other things. It would also be good to get her muscle strength back to what it had been. She had fully recovered from her injuries but being forced to lay around made her muscles a bit lax. They needed a good work out.

"Of course I have healed well. I've spent so much time sitting on my a** doing nothing that I had no reason not to." Her temper was a bit shorter than usual today. Subu would probably just assume it was because she wished him gone. Only she knew that wasn't the case. She had a hard time accepting that he would be leaving soon, it made her irritated to say the least.

Subu sighed slightly as Usiku responded in her typical tone, he hadn't known what he'd expected, she was who she was after all. But couldn't she at least give him this? couldn't she at least make this a pleasant parting so that he could have good memories to keep him happy when he missed her?...holy hell Subu! he chastised himself what on earth are you doing thinking thoughts like that? But as he looked up into her golden eyes he knew the answer, he'd fallen for her - the unattainable. How very typical of him, always wanting what he couldn't have.

The worst of it was, she infuriated him almost as much as he found her attractive. It was like a never ending cycle..like her..hate her...like her...hate her...and so on and so forth until he was all turned around by the end of the day. "Well I suppose there no point in dragging this on any longer now is there?" He finally stated, though he didn't make any moves to actually move quite yet.

She glanced over at him. Blast he was still here. Didn't he just say something about not dragging it out any longer? He was on big contradiction. Well if he was too stubborn to leave then she would be the one to take the first steps. With a shake of her head she stood up. "No I suppose we shouldn't drag it out. Bye" Taking that advice to heart she began to walk off.

Usiku had a hard time taking each step, it wasn't a relapse of pain from her injuries, no it was something else. Something she couldn't ignore much longer. It was going to tear her apart if she did. "I can't do this." She whispered to herself. Bringing her paws to a stop she stood still, head hung down. Fight it Usiku, fight it. She couldn't and she knew it. Though her stubbornness refused to have her turn around and speak to him. She just stood there silently, waiting, almost hoping that he would come after her. If he didn't...well she would tackle that should it happen.

"Bye" He told her simply as she walked off, He was a little bit stunned - how easy it had been for her to walk away. She hadn't even said thank you again or seemed to hesitated...just Bye.Gone. He stood...he should probably follow her example, make a clean quick break, go off to find something - or someone - new to take his mind off her and fill his head with fresh warm happy thoughts. Yes, that was a good plan and so he turned to leave quite sure that Usiku didn't want him she'd made that much clear hadn't she?

But as he turned a dash of color caught his attention and he turned his gaze fully upon it. Usiku hadn't left...but instead stood there with hanging head looking to him, quite miserable. Subu hesitated for a few moments - unsure and then started walking forward almost without thinking about it. Damn her all to hell but she seemed to have gotten quite securely under his skin. "It doesn't look like you got very far" He said softly as he cam up behind her.

"Yeah thanks for pointing out the obvious." She said, though her head remained down, eyes pointed towards the grass under her feet. Usiku was glad he had came to her, even if it was only to make a comment about how she hadn't gotten very far. Could it be that he cared for her? Well obviously he cared somewhat for her right, after all he had just spend many days and nights taking care of her. But he could have just been doing that to be nice, no strings attached. That suddenly worried Usiku, what if that was it, he only did it because he was a nice guy and even though he had been hesitant to leave he didn't care for her?

Taking a heavy breath Usiku finally raised her head and looked at Subu. Her normally hate filled eyes had changed to something a bit softer, though there was a definite fire still burning in the background. "I hate you." It sounded harsh but hey she wasn't a softy and even trying to be nice usually ended up sounding all wrong. "And yet...be damned if I don't want to leave. Why did you do this to me?"

Subu had to chuckle slightly as she said she hated him - though she squelched it quickly less she think he was laughing at her. That wasn't his intention at all and while most wouldn't find the words I hate you something to laugh about, Subu could tell by her eyes which had softened in a way totally uncharacteristic for her, that she didn't really hate him. Quite the opposite he hoped, but that might be pushing things this soon. And that thought made his heart soar - maybe just maybe this wouldn't be good-bye after all.

"I didn't do anything to you" He responded with a searching gaze "I was merely here when you needed someone, perhaps it was fate" He told her in a quiet voice. "But I can tell you that I certainly don't hate you...and I can't leave either" he concluded truthfully, though what she would make of that he wasn't sure, perhaps she would run again, avoid it again...who could tell really?

Did he just laugh at her? Of all the nerve, she was trying her best to let out her feelings and what does he do, he laughs. She huffed a bit, she wasn't sure whether she wanted to beat him or run away. Usiku shook her head and then turned her back to Subu, but instead of running away she merely sat down. What else could she do? She had tried to walk away from him once and look what happened...a whole lot of nothing that's what.

"I've never needed anyone before." She finally admitted. "I could always take care of myself." After a moment of pause she added. "And I still can." Her voice was filled with determination. Though she was quite surprised when he said that he didn't hate here. That was a first. She had treated him like dirt and yet here he was not holding that against her. That was...refreshing to say the least. Perhaps she could adapt to life with him around. She had done a fine job of getting on by herself after leaving her old pack, she could adjust again. Usiku finally looked back at Subu, shook her head and then looked away again. "I...I don't want you to leave." That was extremely hard for her to say, but she broke down and did it anyways.

Subu took a step forward as she turned away, almost as though he'd considered calling after her, like he'd imagined her running off on him. But his motion arrested hen he realized she wasn't running, that she had turned away from him but wasn't leaving. Sure he would have liked for her to stay facing him - but he had a feeling this was all very strange to her, and probably easier to get out hen she wasn't looking directly at him. That was fine and Subu sat down to wait her out patiently.

"Of course you can" He assured her after she spoke "But it is much easier when two dogs take care of themselves together' He told her, what was he trying to do? Give her a list of perks and hope she saw the value of them? That was just silly and Subu abandoned that train of thought to stand up and circle around after she looked back at him, so that they were once more facing once another. "Well that is a good thing - I would have disliked following you about and groveling for your attentions every day" He told her in an amused tone, as though he was attempting to lighten the mood.

"Easier sure, but..." She wasn't really sure what to say. Telling him that relying on others, even in a team effort, make her felt weak and useless. He would only argue the fact. Then she would have to listen to him droll on about the many reasons to stay together, and that would most certainly make her want to strike him. Her eyes looked up to see him standing in front of her again.

"I'm sure you would have enjoyed groveling like a worthless peon." She told him, with an almost smile on her maw. Curse him. Her eyes changed back to that more angry look that was typical of her. "Don't think I'm gonna change my ways just because you are around. I am the way I am, there's no changing that." If he had a problem with that, well then he would either just have to cope with it or be miserable at her side.

Subu smiled slightly, was that a smile he detected creepin at the edges of her mouth? Where her lips twitching upwards just a little bit? He couldn't be certain but he was fairly sure it was. She was quite lovely when she didn't look like she wanted to murder him, but he wasn't complaining about her murderous look either. Yep Subu he told himself, you have it bad.

"You have been yourself since the moment I met you" He pointed out to her in a patient voice "And yet here I am" He continued with a smile "Clearly I must like you the way you are - no one else in their right mind would spend time with someone so darn cranky" He concluded, though his tone of voice made it pretty obvious he was just teasing her. Of course how she would react to such teasing he had no idea - but that was part of the fun.

Usiku raised an eyebrow at Subu. "Yes here you are." And she was glad for it. Deep down she knew it would be hard to adjust to life with him around, but hey they hadn't killed each other so far so that had to be a good sign right? One step at a time, that's how she would deal with it, one step at a time.

"I am not cranky!" She snapped at him, raising her front paws flung them out at him, trying to knock him over. "I prefer the term Spirited." She shook her head. "Males...they always think they have us figured out. They never will." There she went again spouting off about how annoying the other sex was. And it was true...for the most part at least. She could have done much worse than Subu, there were males out there that beat their mates to keep them in line, others that went from female to female not caring about their feelings after they left. Usiku was lucky to have Subu, very lucky.

Subu let her striking paws bowl him over - oh he could have dodged them sure, but she hadn't aimed with her claws and he was good natured enough to let him push him over if it made her feel better. Usiku wasn't a female that could be kept at heel like a pet after all, but a vibrant and she so aptly put it spirited female who would always keep him on his toes.

He could certainly do much worse then her and he gazed up at her from the ground "Spirited it is" He agreed before rolling over and scrambling to his feet again. Though there were alot of things he could have said in response to her little rant Subu decided against it, starting things off with another argument certainly wouldn't help right now and so instead he merely shook his pelt to dislodge any debris that might have gotten caught during his spell on the ground and looked at her. "Well...where to now?"

Usiku shook her head as Subu flopped to the ground under her 'attack.' They were quite the opposites but that seemed to suit them well. She was the quick tempered and violent one, while he was more lighthearted and kind. They certainly made quite the pair. Yes she would need time to get used to all this, but Usiku was oddly willing to put the effort into that.

"Where to now?" She repeated the question as she began to walk away, not from him, it was more like taking her first steps in this new life. "Wherever out paws take us I suppose." She called back to him. "Now hurry up, we have things to do." What those things were she wasn't quite sure. Likely find a place to call their home. Their home it was another term she would need to get used to. Just another adventure, she told herself and continued on her way.
