If there was ever a time Alister wanted to crawl under his bed and stay there, if only it meant avoiding Ana like the plague then yes. He wanted to stay there until the insane girl left him alone. At the moment that wasn't working too well, especially not with Ana half attached to his leg and trying to drag him out. He'd agreed to her insane dare if only because he didn't want her pestering him and whining. Now she was intent on dragging him into the city for heavens knew what reason. The whining was getting louder no matter how far under the bed he tried to squirm. Was it so much of a crime to want to stay in bed and therefor stay alive and out of whatever insane little scheme Ana had planned? The more he squirmed was the harder she pulled until he was steadily losing ground and being dragged from his current hiding spot. Absently he was beginning to wonder how Ana was managing this. Of course that answer came as soon as the girl had managed to drag him out, making certain he bumped his head on the underside of the bed. Groaning he finally shook Ana off of him, but only for a moment as she was soon reattached to his arm with the most sickeningly sweet grin on her face. Why did he have this sinking feeling in his stomach that he wasn't going to like what she had planned?

Probably because you aren't? A light amused sound rolled from the black wolf where she lay, paws crossed and surveying the scene. She was shocked to be honest. Alister and Ana were rarely ever this quiet. And considering they weren't exactly being quiet with all the ruckus and shouting, well that was a fair show of just how loud they could get. Rubbing one paw behind her ear she snorted. Louder than Calla and Alister got at their worse? Yep. Much much louder, and that was on their good days.

Shooting a dirty look at the wolf from where he was currently being restrained, he attempted, in vain to pry Ana from where she hung around his neck. "If you're planning on strangling me, you're doing one hell of a job Ana." His voice was strained from the girl being latched onto him like some kind of leech. Feeling a shove as Ana promptly released him and scooted backward, Alister's hands drifted upward to rub at his neck warily. He had to give Ana one thing, when she had a grip on someone, she had a grip on someone.

She couldn't honestly believe how much her cousin could squirm. Much less scream bloody murder as if she was killing him! The nerve of him, really. If anything he was trying to kill her with the strain of having to drag his sorry a** from under his bed. Every. Single. Morning. Okay maybe not every morning but still! And then he had the nerve to tell her that she was trying to strangle him?! "Oh believe me Ali, I've half the mind to do so." Sneering at him from where she was settled on the floor in front of him, she crossed her arms, glaring. Alister knew what they'd agreed to. A entire month of him being civil, nice to Calla. And while he didn't know the exact details of today, she had informed him several times that she was dragging them both out today and yet here he was trying to hide under his bed. Again. "Alister...darling tell me. How many times have I told you that we were going to the city today?" Scowling at the other blond, she hrmphed. "You do remember our deal don't you?" Oh she was going to play that card again. She was going to use it as many times as she wanted to and needed to. one way or the other he was going to get it into his head that Calla didn't deserve half the hell he gave her. For now, for now she was going to let him think about what she'd said and scurry off to deal with her other problem. Pushing to her feet, Ana spun on her heel and waltzed out of Alister's room. She would be back for him if he wasn't outside after she was dealing with Calla.

Passing her fingers through ShadowSong's fur as she passed, the she-wolf rose to join her as she left. She knew Calla would be much more difficult to deal with. She always was. This thought brought a sigh to her lips and she shook her head sadly. It was no wonder the fort was in such disarray. If the captain and lieutenant were chaotic how could they possibly expect the privates to be any better? Frowning to herself she shook it off, the grin sliding into place. Not to worry of course. If her plan worked then all this chaos would be resolved. Knocking lightly but insistently on the lieutenant's door, Ana knew Calla had locked herself up in there. That's where she was on most days. Locked up in her office working and working. Forever working as far as Ana was concerned.

Calla could hear the hell Alister was receiving, and she wasn't about to throw herself into that. No, it was far too tempting to inflict the chaos upon him, and she wouldn't let down her half of the deal with Ana.
Granted she might have considered it more if she had known Alister had made the same deal. But alas she had been left in the dark about that little dare and so she kept to her office. She had been up with the sun this morning, throwing herself into her office and locking the door. She hadn't been in their long when she'd heard Ana let herself in. It wasn't so odd for the woman to just come waltzing into their Barracks, as it was also the children's barracks and she was their Godmother and babysitter. But today she wasn't here for the children, she had expected to find Alister and Calla still asleep.
Obviously she had been sorely disappointed at only getting to torture Alister. Calla had found herself some busywork and would wait for them to leave before tacking WoodWhisp out for an attempt to lose some of the weight he'd gained this winter. He wasn't pleased about it, but Calla knew that the best way for her to uphold this little deal she had with Ana was to avoid Alister as much as possible. And though she'd only agreed to this set up a few days back she had already come to realize how hard it was to avoid the man. Where before she had gone out of her way to seek him out and give him the same hell he gave her, now she had to go even farther out of her way to avoid him. And sharing the same Barracks made that extremely hard. So Calla had busied herself with work and the children and already she couldn't wait for summer to come, because that would mean she would have even more work to do keeping up drills and always being on watch for the centipedes. The scuffles from above were replaced by voices, meaning Ana had finally won over Alister. It was amazing how little respect that girl had for her commanding officers going about bossing them around and dragging them out of bed. It was even more amazing that neither Calla nor Alister had the guts enough to try and make her stop. Anastasia could be scarier than either of them when she wanted to be. Hell that woman was the only person who had ever managed to make Calla feel ashamed of her actions.
Thud. Thud, thud, there came the knocking at her door. She had been expecting that, she had just hoped Alister would manage to hold up longer than he had. Calla coughed, miserably fake, and then again, more believable this time, "Sorry Ana. I'm not feeling so great this morning. I think I'll have to skip out on today's plans." She made her voice rough and quiet, as though she had a sore throat. Hopefully Ana would believe her, but somehow she doubted it.

WoodWhisp looked from his comfortable position towards ShadowSong. The evil grin on his face could have easily told anyone he was up to something. ShadowSong, you might want to tell your rider that Calla keeps a spare key buried about an inch deep in the corner over there. WoodWhisp flicked his tail in that direction, Just in case. She's also not sick in the least. With his part done WoodWhisp lay his head back down, intending to go back to sleep. Oh yes, he'd already been let in on the plan, and he was not about to let Calla get out of this. If those two would calm down he might be able to get a solid nights sleep.

I hope you know I hate you so much right now. Calla had heard every word of what WoodWhisp had said. She hadn't understood at first but after years of being Bonded to WoodWhisp she had eventually come to understand she was an Empath, as capable of getting into her wolves mind as he was into hers. But the two respected each other's privacy. At least, most of the time.
But she wasn't going to get up and unlock the door. No, if Ana wanted her that bad she'd let the woman go dig up the key. A little bit of vengeance.

Hands on her hips, Ana had half the mind to break the door down at the half assed reply her knocking received. Like hell she was going to buy that sorry excuse. She'd gotten Alister out of bed, granted he'd kicked and screamed bloody murder at the injustice of it all. Not to say Ana particularly cared how much he screamed of course. She could always subdue him, as easily and completely as any other time. But not her focus was settled on Calla, Calla and the mere fact that the woman was attempting to use the office as a hide out point just to escape her and Alister. Well it wasn't going to work. Not by a long shot. "Don't even try that! If there's one thing I know is that you don't get sick." Ana was making certain her voice was loud enough to be heard, through the wood of the door and well upstairs as well. Oh she wanted Alister to hear this. And hear this he would. He'd hear so much more once she got into Calla's office. But first, before she even began her usual morning rant at the door...Her attention drifted to her bonded and then WoodWhisp and she almost snorted with laughter once ShadowSong relayed the message. A buried key eh? Oh she'd go after the key alright, but first she was going to watch this little bit of drama with the wolves unfold. Poor WoodWhisp, she almost felt sorry for him. Almost.

Tail curling around her hind legs, Twilight's jaws lolled open in a lazy yawn. She'd been awake for quite a while. She'd even went so far as to warn her, then asleep rider that Ana was on the loose but had he listened? No. So he'd gotten his punishment. And now she had to deal with WoodWhisp. Not an easy task by any stretch. But that didn't mean she was backing down. Instead, Twilight rose with one fluid movement and started toward her mate. The amusement of watching her bonded drag off to hide in the bathroom had waned and now there was the underlying annoynace at WoodWhisp. Tail flicking lazily, one paw lifted and she swatted at his ears lightly, almost playfully. He wasn't going to get any sleep, at least not this morning while she was around. Get up oh lazy one. Voice low and purring she crouched waiting to see whether or not she'd have to tackle the larger wolf to wake him up again.

Convinced that WoodWhisp was royally screwed no matter what he did, Ana's attention returned to the patch of earth she'd been directed to. All this work just to drag the woman out of her office for a few hours. Sighing at the thought as she dusted the key off and unlocked the door, Ana was anything but amused or pleased. "Calla." That one word held every bit of Ana's annoyance compacted into one hissing explusion. Oh no Ana was not pleased at all. Nudging the door shut behind her, Ana's back was pressed to it, as she settled into an all too familiar pose against it. "Dare I inquire if I would have been more readily welcomed if I'd dragged my half naked cousin down here with me?" It had been a thought, a rather stray thought but a thought nonetheless. One that she had banished with all due haste as well. She'd already had had a battle to get her cousin out of bed, she didn't want one to get him down the stairs just yet too.

She should have known Ana wouldn't believe the sick excuse by a long shot. No, Ana was much too intelligent to know that Calla kept herself in tip top condition and almost never got sick. And with WoodWhisp having given her away there was no escape now, Anastasia was between her and her only escape. And that single word told her that Ana was not pleased with her little ploy, which meant this was going to be all the more painful for her.
But if she was lucky it would also be all the more painful for Alister. She wouldn't go out of her way, no that would be breaking her deal with Ana, but she could hope. All Calla could do for now was burry her head into her work, pen flying furiously across the page, and hope Ana might just change her mind and leave. Decide maybe it wasn't worth the effort to drag the two of them off on some annoying adventure into the City. But she was sure her hopes would all be in vain, once Ana had set her mind to something there was no way Calla or Alister were going to be able to get out of it.
But Ana knew how to get to her, unfortunately, and all she'd heard of Ana's words was something about a half naked Alister. That was certainly enough to get her to look up, granted she only looked up to disappointment. There was in fact not a naked Alister in the room, there was only a smirking Anastasia staring down at her. Calla gave up, setting down her pen and leaning back into her chair. "Yes. It probably would have been." Calla nodded her agreement to that sentiment. "Now, I'm going to hazard a guess and say that I'm not going to be able to get out of going today am I?" Resigned to her fate Calla stood up and brushed herself off. She hadn't bothered to get dressed when she'd crawled out of bed this morning, that would have involved making noise which in turn would wake Alister up. It hadn't taken Calla long for her to learn not to wake Alister up if she could help it. "Well then, can I at least get dressed first?" She moved around her desk towards the door. There was also the unspoken question if she could help Ana drag Alister outside, but that was to be assumed.

WoodWhisp groaned and turned his back towards his mate. He knew he wasn't going to get out of this, but he was going to make it as difficult for her as possible. He was sure that whatever Twilight had in mind was going to be worse than what Calla had planned for him. It would probably be in his best interest to just go ahead and get up, and Twilight would probably be even more forgiving if he did, but he was quite warm and he didn't really want to get up and go outside. It's winter, I'm on break. He protested, opening one eye to look up at Twilight.

Annoyance flitted through her at the false show of work. As if she'd fall for that. Really sometimes she found herself wondering just who decided to die and make Alister and Calla, Captain and Lieutenant. Of course that wasn't even a question to ask, considering she knew the circumstances surrounding their promotions but still. Huffing her gaze flew to the pen and papers, silently willing them to burst into flame. Maybe if they did the woman would stop trying to take her for a fool. Fat chance of that ever happening though. Sighing, the breath caught in ANa's throat and she groaned reaching up to pinch the bridge of her nose willing certain unpleasant thoughts out of her head. Why, did she have to deal with these two? Whining mentally she shook her head to shake the thoughts away. "I...don't want to know." She stammered weakly banging her head against the door. Really she didn't want to. She had heard more than enough corrupting things from her cousin to last her a lifetime.
"No you're not, now off to dress and don't make me have to come up there and drag both you and Alister down here again." Side stepping away from the door, she gestured toward the only exit in the room. "Ten minutes max." If there was one thing Ana knew was that she had to give them both time limits or they'd try to hide out there all day. Sighing again she shook her head. She'd never understand what went through both the captain and lieutenant's minds and at this point in time she wasn't sure she wanted to know. It might scare her more than all the horrors she'd seen in her brief three years here which was saying something.

Twilight's tail flicked and she growled, ears back and she took a step forward before her muscles coiled and taunt. She was not amused by his laziness, usually she let him have his fun during the winter but now? Now this was just autricious. Huffing at the opening eye, she gave a soft snarl and lounged at her mate, coming down squarely on his back and side. And -I- said get up. Snapping at his ears and neck, she growled softly fairly twitching. She was going to run him to the bone. True she'd have to accompany Alister on his little venture into the city but once the humans wandered off to do what they wanted to, she was going to have her fun with WoodWhisp. Grinning evilly, she calmly flexed her claws and dug them into his shoulder purposely. Get up and I'll leave you alone until we have to leave.

Calla allowed herself a little snort as Ana slammed her head into the door a few times. Little bits of vengeance here and there, after all she had all this pent up frustration that she couldn't take out on Alister like she usually did, so she'd have to go for her next best target. But she knew Ana well enough then to just assault her like she did Alister wouldn't work, she had to settle for little things here and there, and the little things gave her a bit of a grin every now and again. So she had found herself content enough with that, granted it had only been a few days, how well Calla would hold up under this pressure was yet to be seen. As Calla slid past Ana and out the door she couldn't resist just a slight comment, "Ana, my dearest sister, you're starting to sound like my mother."
Calla didn't wait around for a response; instead she was already up the stairs and into her room, sliding the door shut quietly behind her. At first she managed to bit her tongue, heading straight for her dresser and trying to find her small stash of clothes that didn't involve her uniform. So long as she was heading into the city she might as well take the chance to relax and set aside her duties as a lieutenant, and that meant a chance to wear something other than her uniform. She only hoped that the fort would be able to hold itself together in the absence of both her and Alister. As she pulled out a pair of dark brown pants she simply couldn't hold her tongue anymore. "This is your fault you know." She shouted, just loud enough for Alister to hear her. She made sure to keep her tone light and joking , though it was a bit of a struggle to do so. How tempting it was to accuse him, but she had made a deal and she would not break it. Mostly because she knew Ana would find out and flay her alive. Somehow the thought of being flayed alive by Ana was the scariest thing she'd thought of in awhile. Struggling to get the pants, she'd had them since before she was pregnant after all, she made a mental note to get a pair of pants that actually fit.
Amongst the rest of her clothes all she managed to find was a white shirt and a black jacket. Having to settle for the mish-mash of terribly drab colors Calla moved across to the bathroom. Knocking on the door lightly, despite her idea to bang on the door and shout her demands, she managed to keep her voice friendly, "Alister, could I convince you to hand me my hairbrush before your cousin comes up here to kill us?" The struggle to keep her voice polite in all of the two sentences she'd said to him already proved that today was going to be a very long day.

WoodWhisp would have to agree with his riders sentiments as his mate plowed into his side. Sure she was smaller than him, but she still packed a pretty good punch when she put all her weight behind it. WoodWhisp sighed at her as she snapped angrily at his ears and neck. He knew he wasn't getting out of this as much as Calla knew she wasn't getting away from Anastasia and Alister. But unlike his rider he was going to do his damndest to make this as difficult as possible. But love, that seems counterproductive. We both know that if I got up and you left me alone, I'd only go back to sleep. He pointed out, his tone cheerful in an attempt to counter her foul mood. Why don't we just cut out the middle man and I got back to sleep right now? He was sure that idea was going to be shot down quicker than a rabid squirrel, but it was worth a shot. What kind of wolf would he be if he didn't test every possibility?

A vicious mix of a snarl and shout followed Calla out of the room and Ana shook a fist at the departing woman. She would have her revenge today, and she would enjoy it. So very very much but for now she was going to see what those two demons she often looked after were up to. She had things to discuss with the children, a plan of...escape of sorts. Really if someone actually thought she planned on staying for the duration of this little adventure they were sorely mistaken. Alas plotting would have to be made with the twins. Not a problem of course. They were after all her pupils. Grinning wickedly at the thought she poked her head into the living area adjacent to the alpha dens. "Dante, Lucifer?" Her voice rose slightly to combat the squabbling from both the alphas. Twilight was going to eat WoodWhisp, not exactly a smart idea considering all the fat that had collected under that white and orange pelt over the course of the winter months. Chuckling to herself, she slipped into the room cautiously. The twins were known to hide in some of the most unconventional and insane places. Poking at the couch she huffed, no sign of the twin demons there. Where were those two? Obviously not in the den since Twilight was currently there either trying to smother WoodWhisp or considering how easy it would be to eat him. Either didn't seem to be working but hey that wasn't her problem. A giggle sounded from behind the blond and she paused, not turning because she knew full well just who lurked there. Dante and no doubt her brother. Of course turning would let them know she'd heard them. Instead she merely returned to poking around the room, well aware of the footsteps following her across the room. Once she was ready to pounce the twins she would and then she'd drag them outside to toss some snow around until she got tired of waiting for those two get downstairs.

He'd heard most if not all of Ana's frustrations that had followed Calla upstairs but for the most part he choose to ignore them. Ana was timing them, he knew this much. No matter how much she seemed to not be paying attention to either of them, she was timing them and if it was one thing he knew, he knew better than to have Ana breathing down his neck. Wincing at the comb snagging a particularly vicious tangle of knots, his gaze drifted to where Calla had wandered in. The first week of this unusually nice treatment had caught him off guard, and he'd been tempted to ask Ana what she'd said to Calla but had decided against it. Heavens knew anything Ana did to get Calla to be nice was bound to be scary. That was the only thing he could see turning Calla civil toward him. Which, reminded him, he'd struck a deal with Ana. He had to be nice to Calla for a month or Ana was going to make his life even more miserable, as if it wasn't bad enough already. Stifling a sigh as he fought the tangle of hair, which was eventually defeated and not soon enough sadly. He was pretty sure he'd lost a couple braincells as well as several bits of hair. Couldn't be helped now sadly.

Quirking an eyebrow at the request he merely shrugged it off, he had that deal with Ana to think of. Besides dealing with a non-violent Calla was a welcome change of pace. Grabbing one of his spare brushes he tossed it onto the bed with a lazy shrug. "I do believe she's too busy hunting the children at the moment." He wouldn't put it past Ana to send Dante or Lucifer up to warn them that Ana was at her wits end with them. Alas it wouldn't come to that. He was already dressed just waiting for a good reason to go downstairs and not just face Ana but also face Twilight who seemed intent on devouring her mate. Shaking his head he adjusted the collar of his black turtleneck not even bothering to stuff the dangling silver chain and green pendant out of sight. It had been something Ana had dropped in his lap last year as a birthday gift.

Snarling Twilight stuck her claws into his shoulder again as her jaws snapped at his neck wickedly close to grabbing the ruff of white and orange fur there. Oh but you won't be going back to sleep, not now anyway. Huffing darkly, she made a point to stick her hind paw into his ribs as she shifted and moved off of him. Why was WoodWhisp so lazy? Really it was beginning to sadden her beyond belief. Of course that sadness turned to rage and that rage turned to her jaws closing around WoodWhisp's fluffy neck and she tugged, knowing full well she wouldn't be able to move the heavier male. Besides, you'll be joining us on this wonderful little adventure. Her tone turned cheerful, sickeningly so. This adventure was going to be amusing to watch. ShadowSong had after all, already informed her of what Ana planned on doing. So it was just a matter of watching it happen, from the shadows of course.

Calla was surprised that Alister didn't respond with some sort of refusal or smart a** comment. Not that she had a problem with that, it was just a total surprise. Ana might have been on to something when she made Calla agree to be nice to Alister for a month, for the past few days in the few occasions she'd spoken with him he hadn't been a complete and utter b*****d. Calla snagged the brush up, tempted to put up a fuss that it wasn't her brush as she had specified, but instead running it through her hair. She made no attempt to work out the knots, instead just running the brush violently through what little hair she had. She rarely had to bother with actually brushing it because it usually simply fell into place, and as short as it was it rarely had any actual knots in it to speak of. But it had been getting long of late and today in particular she seemed to have slept on it wrong because it put up a lot more of a fuss than it usually did. "That wouldn't surprise me. Sometime I wonder if they aren't triplets." Calla laughed, tearing at a particularly matted knot. With a growl of frustration she threw the brush back onto the bed, whatever her hair wanted to do was it's business, she only had the patience to attempt to reason with it for so long before she decided she simply didn't care.
Taking a deep breath and attempting to smooth down the knot at least she hunted through the room for her shoes. She already knew that she had no other pair of shoes than her boots but she was partially hoping that somehow a pair had conveniently appeared overnight. She didn't want to deal with lacing up the boots today, not when she knew she was on a time limit after all. With a sigh she gave up her futile hunt and pulled her boots out from under the bed, lacing them up and making another mental note to have someone redesign the uniforms so that they weren't such a hassle. She knew she probably never would, but it made her feel better to have that on her to-do list. Straightening out her shirt she made an attempt to smile at Alister, "So, how long do you think before she's appeased and we can come home?" She asked, her tone sarcastic but joking, "I put down a quarter that we're gonna be there all day." Calla knew that Ana's cruelty knew no bounds and wouldn't in the least be surprised if the woman managed to keep them there all day, if not somehow roping them into staying longer.

With an exaggerated sigh WoodWhisp heaved himself up at last, partially because he decided he had incurred as much of Twilight's wrath as he dared, and partially because he knew she was starting to get serious about getting him up. Ah yes, they did make plans to go out today didn't they? WoodWhisp chuckled, he knew that this wasn't going to end as well as anyone hoped. He knew Calla, and he knew that she could only keep her snark to herself for so long. Something would go down today, the only questions left really where what and when. Stretching out and shaking the grogginess that lingered about his eyes he eyed Twilight suspiciously, So tell me, what does our wonderful friend Anastasia have planned for today? He asked, glancing towards the doorway as the woman disappeared through it hunting for the little children that were skittering about, And don't tell me nothing, I know better than that/

Lucifer followed his sister closely, an evil grin spread across his face. He had been awake since his mother had gotten up and gone off to hide away from Ana. The twins knew what was going on today, and certainly had no intention of being left out of such an adventure. And of course to get in on such a thing they would have to go through Aunty Ana, and they couldn't just outright ask her of course, that wasn't nearly as entertaining. They'd have to get her into a corner first. All he awaited was the signal.

Brushing the few stray and rebellious strands of blond and crimson over his shoulder and away from his face, Alister sighed annoyed with the few snags that caught his attention. If Ana hadn't put them on a time limit he might have been able to tackle the snags and knots that seemed to be determined to remain buried near the dyed crimson strands at the tips. Snorting in mild amusement at the comment, he shook his head slightly. Ana as anything but the twins babysitter and 'aunt' was a scary thought. A tad too scary for his liking to be honest. Quirking an eyebrow at the rejected brush he was half tempted to give into the wicked little comment about Calla's hair being akin to a bird's nest, alas there came the memory of that little deal with Ana. One slip up and she'd have his hide, and if there was one thing he didn't want to deal with was Ana turning vicious. Leaning back in the wooden chair he'd dragged upstairs, he shifted and turned to regard Calla. The attempted smile was still a bit unnerving but at the very least she wasn't trying to strangle him.
"Ana appeased before a week's over? Not likely." Trailing one hand through his hair slowly he sighed, wincing at the knots that came to his attention again. Ana was not going to hear the end of this once he got her alone. Really he knew his cousin and he knew how cruel she could be. Nothing short of an eternity in that cursed city would appease her. And that was when she was alone and not plotting. When she was plotting that was a whole other story. What were the chances that girl wouldn't try to get them to stay in the city for the night? Next to nothing. Of course there was always the problem of their family when it came to staying in the city for more than a day. The last time he'd spent a week there it hadn't exactly ended well. Come to think of it, his aunt and mother were possibly still a tad bitter about it. Not that he particularly cared. Hell if they stayed forever bitter he would be over joyed. "Once she doesn't get it in her head to visit her mother, I could care less to be honest." The shrug was a lazy one. If Ana wanted to visit that vindictive woman she called her mother then he had no intention of sticking around.

Sitting back, her tail curled around her hind paws as she regarded her mate with a critical eye before snorting softly. Really sometimes she wondered just how she'd ended up mated to such a wolf. True WoodWhisp had his loveable points but for the most part she often had to go through such rituals just to get him up and about. Sighing she merely shook head with another snort. They didn't make plans. Ana made plans. Chuckling softly to herself she merelf flicked her tail at Dante as the girl scurried past followed by her brother. The twins were on the loose and Ana was their target. Pity they didn't redirect that at their parents. Oh well no concern of hers. I didn't intend on saying nothing. Really she's intent on shoving both our wonderful riders off for lunch and leaving them there alone. Shrugging lightly she rose and shook herself out.

Dante's giggles were drifting to Ana from where she stood near one of the windows, a mock frown on her face. She knew the twins were lurking behind her, it was just a matter of catching Dante and then reeling in Lucifer. "Dante love, if you stop hiding and bring your brother with you, I won't shove you off on some poor unfortunate private." It usually worked. And the moment she felt the air being knocked from her lungs she knew it had worked perfectly once again. Wincing at her bruised ribs she poked at the six year old child clinging to her leg with a grin. "Let me guess you two terrors want to know what I have planned for your parents don't you?" Seeing the nod from Dante, her grin grew and she moved to sprawl on the couch, patting the chair next to her.

Oblivious to the sarcastic comment Alister was attempting to restrain Calla shuffled around the collection of mementos and junk that she had stashed in her nightstand. She had already decided that she wasn’t going to be lieutenant today, unless the situation called for it in some way, and so she might as well revel in the opportunity to wear something that wasn’t completely monotonous. After a bit of searching she pulled out a bracelet she’d stashed into her drawer so long ago. It was a simple silver band with an amber wolfs paw. It had been a birthday gift to herself when she had first graduated from her apprenticeship. Satisfied as she could be with the rough outfit she’d managed to but together, she decided she was as ready as she was ever going to be. It had been a long time since she’d last mingled with the civilian populace; she couldn’t remember the last time she’d been into the city on anything other than military business. And even then it had been years since an assignment or duty had taken her back into civilization. Calla knew that her life was in the forts and the military, it was all she had ever known and she had no inclination otherwise. She had little use for the city, the council had no ruling over her as a senior wolfrider, there were messengers to carry anything she needed to and from the City. This would be her first time stepping foot there in years, but she wasn’t about to let Ana or Alister know that, she was certain she’d never hear the end of it if they did.
Calla couldn’t help but groan a little, “Yes. I’d forgotten that you had family there.” It wasn’t that unbelievable that Calla had indeed forgotten, what with all her family living in the forts it slipped her mind sometimes that not everyone had lived here there entire life and thus had families and friends in the city. Though from what she had heard of the family that the two came from she didn’t think she liked the idea of having to go see them if that really was what Ana had in mind. “You don’t think we’ll have to go visit?” Calla asked, though part of her was already resigning to the idea. Knowing Ana she was certain the woman would want to swing by there at least for a bit. But again from what she heard ‘a bit’ could quickly and easily evolve into an eternity as much tension as there was. Granted part of her somewhat looked forward to meeting Alister’s family. She had the right after all, being the mother of his children, and somehow saw it as a way to show herself off. Even if she hadn’t had this little deal with Anastasia she might have been nice to him simply for the sake of seriously ******** with his head, and theirs.

WoodWhisp ignored the little children as they went skittering past, though the idea of pouncing them flickered across his mind occasionally. As terribly evil and mischievous as the two were he had to admit they were always good for a little game every now and again. Granted the inability to communicate with them made it somewhat difficult to actually decide what game they were playing. I suppose it might be somewhat difficult to disagree with Ana’s plans. Especially when she has decided that you’re part of them. He knew how that woman was, especially when it came to Alister and Calla. As far as Ana was concerned those two had absolutely nothing in the way of free will when she decided something needed to be done. That was part of the reason she’d managed to get them both into this little agreement. As Twilight stood WoodWhisp headed towards the opening of the den, hoping that maybe a good blast of the chilly air would bring him back around to his senses and do something about the grogginess that still kept as a haze around his head. This might just be better than the nap I had planned for today. Somehow I don’t think either of them will be pleased about this. I suppose Ana expects us to work as spies yes? He was certain Ana intended this as a test, if they could continue to be civil to each other even when they thought she wasn’t around, keeping a close eye on them to make sure they held up their deal.

Lucifer scrambled up into the chair obediently. The only two people in the world who could get him to do exactly as he was told were Aunty Ana and his twin Dante. “Of course. You thought you could get away with this without us?” As far as Lucifer was concerned the two of them were the utter masters of mischief around this fort, nothing went down without their approval and involvement. Sure they had learned quite a bit from Anastasia, but a lot of what they did just came naturally to them as well.

Calla's groan was nearly echoed before Alister caught himself and he shook his head with a sigh. "At least you have the luxury of forgetting them." He wished he had such luxuries, sadly he didn't. His mother insisted on writing every other week if not more. Of course those letters were rarely if ever opened and if anyone could attest to where they'd disappeared to that was Twilight. Fires were after all a wonderful thing in the winter. Pushing himself out of the chair and to his feet, lest he let the laziness that was starting to drift over him take a complete and utter hold. Quirking an eyebrow at Calla, there was something close to sad amusement drifting across his gaze. If Ana ever went into the city and didn't drag them along to visit the family it would snow in the middle of summer. Considering such an event wasn't likely to happen in his lifetime, it was safe to say Ana would continue to visit their family even if she knew all too well she didn't care for them. To be honest, not many people really and truely liked his family. Most of the people that associated with them were only after the money and status that came with being associated with council members. "Ana absolutely adores her mother and mine for that matter, so of course she'll be going to visit and we'll be dragged along with her." His voice dripped with sarcasim as he grabbed his jacket and started downstairs. If he was going to suffer he might as well get it over with. Besides he'd rather walk down the stairs on his own without having Ana drag him down there. His family wouldn't be happy about seeing him, much less seeing Calla. At least there was something to look forward to.
The flash of a silver tipped black tail caught his attention for a moment before he finally ignored it. Wherever Twilight and WoodWhisp were going they'd no doubt be back by the time they decided to leave. Which would be whenever Ana reappeared. Not a fun thought waiting for his cousin to reappear but he didn't have much of a choice right now. The drifting whirls of cold air coming from the den's open door were enough of a shock to make him recoil from the hall. He didn't want to deal with the ice just yet. He'd have a day of dealing with that, for now the warmth of the barracks would be enough.

Flicking her tail in WoodWhisp's face as she pushed pass him and out into the icy air, the black wolf gave a yawn and shook the drifting snow from her back and snorted at her mate slightly. And you just figured that out? Rolling her eyes sarcastically she shook her head. If it meant Ana could get her rider to stop being a b*****d for a few hours then so be it. She would welcome it gladly. Pawing at the snow and the trail of some stray rabbit or the other, she snorted the snow from her nose in an effort to ignore the scent. Rabbits were for another time, right now she had other plans. Spies...yes and no. She wants us to follow them into the city for a while but she has plans to abandon them after lunch.

"Of course I didn't! If I did I wouldn't be here right now." Grinning wickedly, she found herself all too amused with the boy. Oh she had plans most of which she wasn't going to tell the twins but she could still tell them what she had planned for today. "I do believe you both already know that I'll be dragging your oh-so loveable parents into the city, to not only pick up your gifts but also to set them up on something of a date." The grin was growing more wicked by the moment and one glance at the equally grinning Dante and Ana knew she'd caught the six year old's attention. "This little date will consist of lunch during which we, three will be making our...escape." Oh she wouldn't detail the entire plan to the twins at all. She'd let them fill in where they wanted. It would be much more fun that way.

Calla followed him downstairs once she decided that she had everything she needed, after all the last thing she wanted was for Ana to come up after her. When that woman gave you a time limit, you stuck to it. It was amazing how this Private who had been in the fort for only three years managed to have both the Captain and Lieutenant obeying almost her every whim. After all, would they be letting anyone else drag them off on this insane trip when there were drills to be run, work to be done, hell give Calla enough time and she could MAKE something to be done. But instead Ana had won her little game and they were being dragged out to meet family. It was a struggle to ignore Alister's comment on her luck. If he understood how much she envied him this he wouldn't be saying how lucky she was. But she wouldn't get into that fight today, not with the deal she had with Ana and partially because she felt he would never understand. Not unless she came clean on why she envied him so much, and that was something she didn't feel she was prepared to do. "Well, I was hopeful." Calla shrugged, zipping up her jacket as she felt the first hints of cold form the open den, "With any luck we'll at least be able to get out of there quickly." Calla still couldn't shake the fact that part of her was eager to meet them, to get some sort of a glimpse at the sort of environment Alister had been raised in to cause him to act as he did so often.
Shaking her head and making another brief attempt to flatten down the matted knot on the side of her head she glanced around, expecting Ana to come at them at any moment. It was amazing how precise that woman's internal clock was, sometimes Calla couldn't help but wonder if she could read minds. Taking her mind away from the subject, just for the sake of not jinxing what few moments of peace she had left before the owman made all hell break loose for the day, Calla watched as WoodWhips wandered off out of the den. Calla had to give Twilight that, she could get thay lazy wolf up in record time.

WoodWhisp snapped lightly at the tail as it flew past his face. Choosing to ignore that little comment he shook himself out slowly, piece by piece, somewhat refreshed by the chilly air. It was early though, and he hoped it would be warming up at least a bit today. They were approaching summer after all, there was still plenty of time between now and then, but the snows should at least be melting soon. And he would be pleased with that, it meant his little lake would be freed up again and he could escape there to get a bit of relaxation every now and then. Granted he spent a lot of time there in the summer, seeing as he and Calla snuck off there after every battle. I figured something along those lines. WoodWhisp commented as he turned his nose to the air, taking in the sents of a fort waking up. The thick smoke of fires being started and the smells of the kitchen as it got itself ready for breakfast. Who do you think will snap first? It was a light joke, WoodWhisp kenw that if anyone was going to be able to pull this off it would be Ana, but he couldn't help but think it was a little to soon to be leaving them alone.

Lucifer listened eagerly to his Aunt's plans, they had already been informed of Ana's little game of making his parent's "Play Nice" and had already promised his participation. The fact that he was going to get to go into the City today was just a very nice little bonus. "Leaving mommy and daddy while we go have fun?" Lucifer asked, though it sounded like a question his tone made it into more of a statement, he glanced mischeviously at his sister, "I'm game."

Shrugging on the lined coat, he was half tempted to slip off to the warmer areas of the barracks, even his office seemed welcoming right now but he knew Ana would hunt him down. And even though the girl was a good seven years younger than he was, she was quite frankly the only person who could scare him into submission. A scary thought in and of itself but still. Sighing as his hand inched its way up to his hair, he barely stopped himself from carrying out the all too familiar gesture. There was nothing that could be done about this now. Ana was hell bent on dragging them into the city and he was going to have to go along with it, or risk being dragged there kicking and screaming. Fishing his gloves out of his pocket, he slid them on and forced himself out into the near frozen air. Why couldn't Ana have choosen a warmer hour for this insanity?
He'd half expected to see Ana jumping out at him as soon as he'd stepped out the door, but there was no sign of his lunatic of a cousin. Strange. But not unexpected. Ana was probably lurking somewhere around near by along with the twins no doubt. Glancing at Twilight as the black wolf shifted away from her mate and moved to half curl around him, blocking most of the newest blast of icy wind. She seemed pleased and amused with something, and if he was to guess he had a feeling it had to do with whatever Ana had planned. Scowling at the wolf, he was merely granted a wolfish snicker to which he didn't bother replying. If Twilight was that amused then he really didn't want to know.

The fort wasn't fully awake as yet, that was probably why that stray rabbit had gotten away uncaught...yet. Rolling her eyes at her mate, she moved away to curl around her bonded lazily. WoodWhisp could be quite amusing to be honest. She'd realized he disappeared at odd times after battles and the like during the summer but she often said nothing, after all she was often left prowling after her bonded while he pillaged Ana's stores of alcohol. Those times she had to keep an eye on him, because it was those times that Alister was most dangerous to himself. Sighing she shook her head with a snort again. Don't you mean who will snap again? Grinning at her mate, her head inclined toward her rider and she merely nudged the man with a slight snort, blowing a bit of hot air onto his hair and face. She knew his questioning her sudden cheerful mood but she wasn't about to enlighten him any time in the near future.

Flicking her pigtails over her shoulder, there was a wicked little grin on Dante's face as she first looked up at her aunt and then over at her twin. But of course she was going to agree with this! It was always fun to follow along with Ana's plans. She had no objections to any of these plans. As far as she was concerned this little plot was perfect. "I'll be getting my gifts today too, right Auntie?" Turning her gleaming eyes to her aunt again, Dante nearly squealed at the nod she received and that was all she cared to hear. Anything else would come in its own time. For now she was merely gleeful that she was going to get her new gifts.

Patting Dante on the head lightly, she set the girl down and stretched. "Now you two, not a word of this to your parents or I won't let you in on any more secrets." With that she all but skipped out of the door. Aha! There were her victims. Both bundled up and looking as miserable as ever. Wonderful! At some point Dante had charged past her to attach herself to her father's leg but the young girl wasn't her target. Oh no, her target...or rather targets were Alister and Calla. "So good to see you cared to join me." She paused for effect, arms crossed as she regarded the duo darkly. The passing breath of air ruffled her layered black skirt and fur collared coat. The barest glint of silver from under the folds of Alister's coat drew her attention to the chain and pendant that dangled there and her grin almost dissolved into a genuine smile. Almost. "I'm touched you decided to wear my gift for once." She commented lazily before turning her attention to the wolves. A quick wink and smile at them, and she returned that ever devious grin to the humans. "Shall we leave then? After all we've got so much to do before the day is over!"

Relaxed that Ana had yet to lunge at them as a vicious monster from the shadows Calla pulled her jacket in tighter around her. As Alister headed for the outside world Calla ducked into her office, grabbing her thicker, fur-lined coat as well as Lucifer's. It seemed Alister had Ana thoroughly distracted long enough for Calla to rummage through the bottom drawer of her desk before she found the object she had stashed there earlier. When she had been informed that Ana had decided they were going to the City she had already been certain she'd be getting to meet Alister's family. And she intended to make full use of this situation. After a bit of hunting she had found something of Alister's, a small music box which with a bit of string she had fashioned into a necklace. Slipping it over her head she tucked it under her shirt and zipped up her coat. Emerging just as Ana suggested they leave.
Something about the way Ana pointed out how much they had to do today chilled Calla for a moment, thankfully her son provided a distraction. WoodWhisp had him dangling from his teeth. It wasn't the first time she'd found them like this, it was almost as if they had some sort of nefarious rivalry behind her back. Shaking her head she took the boy form her bonded and dropped him onto WoodWhisp's back. "Trying to sneak of without this I see." She scolded him gently, dropping the coat on him before swinging up behind him on her wolf. Settling in comfortably she glanced over at the others. "Well, shall we get out of here before the rest of the fort realizes we've escaped?"

Another yawn escaped the large male as he was suddenly plowed into by a small human body. It wasn't the first time the kid had tried to maul him over, it never worked. Considering the small child barely came all the way up his leg, WoodWhisp couldn't help but wonder why he even tried. With a playful growl he grabbed the boy by his collar and stood up, leaving him dangling above the ground. Always technical. You know exactly what I mean. WoodWhisp smiled as well as he could with a mouth full of small child, But that is entirely beside the point. It's been awhile since I've been to the city, you think that butcher will give me another ham? The last time WoodWhisp had gone into the city he'd gotten himself an entire ham to munch on, he was pretty sure the butcher had given it to him only out of fear but it had still been one of the best meals in the alpha's life. He was rather eager to see if he could sink his teeth into another one.

Lucifer snorted, "You think we'd tell? How little you trust us Aunty!" the little boy feigned insult, but he simply couldn't be angry at Ana for long, not even fake anger, and quickly bounced out of the room behind her. As soon as he laid eyes on WoodWhisp the boy was off, throwing his entire body into the wolf. Though it left Lucifer slightly winded it seemed as if his mother's Bonded hadn't even noticed him. Luci was quickly proved wrong though as he was lifted up off his feet and left to dangle in the air. If the kid ever bothered to think on it it might occur to him how often he found himself in this position, but instead he was much to busy fighting for his freedom. The obvious solution was to remove his shirt and drop to the ground, but WoodWhisp seemed to have already thought of that. He found himself dangling over a slush pile and did not revel in the idea of being cold and wet on the run to the City.
Thankfully he wasn't there long before his mother scooped him out of the wolves mouth and set him down on his back instead. It wasn't a victory but it was a relief at least, and his shirt collar wasn't trying to choke him anymore. Wrapping himself in the coat his mother had brought him he prepared for the voyage. Lucifer loved it when he got to ride the wolves, it was a thrilling and magnificent experience.

Dante had attached herself like the vicious little hellion she could be, and Alister merely bent slightly to pry to child off his leg. A harder task than it should have been considering the girl was six years old and just as strong as any normal six year old should be. Today the girl seemed to have gained a vice-like grip. Vice-like but not unbreakable. Once that grip had been broken it was a simple matter of lifting the girl up onto Twilight's back and then swinging up behind her. Ana was out to drive him insane. And it was working. Bit by bit it was working. "Why do I have a feeling you intend on dragging us around the city and back again?" The vicious grin from Ana answered that question and more. The girl was going to be out to kill them both. That was all he could think of and he didn't like it. Of course...Ana wouldn't listen to any objections. Not since they'd agreed to this little...outing days in advance. Sighing, he shot a look at Ana just as the younger blond hauled herself up onto her own wolf. If anyone noticed they were gone from the fort, it would be a miracle. Most people didn't even care if they were any where around. From what he'd seen, they were actually glad to not have the Captain and Lieutenant lurking over their shoulders and around the fort. "I highly doubt they'd notice if we were gone."

Staring at her mate in the most bemused way she could manage without outright laughing, her tail flicked at Dante as she bolted past and then at Lucifer when he barreled into WoodWhisp. Why did the boy even bother to do that? He was a feather compared to WoodWhisp. And boy did she know how that felt. WoodWhisp was like a pile of squishy, fat and fur. Especially during the winter. Seriously did the male realize that he needed to be fit and not floppy? Rolling her eyes she snorted. I do hope he doesn't. You're plump enough as it is." Staring at her mate pointedly, she almost sat down until she felt the barest amount of weight on her back. There went her moment of peace. Dante was on her back and her rider was up soon after.

Dante merely tightened her grip on her father's pant leg, eyeing her brother before she began to giggle wickedly. She could have warned Lucifer that WoodWhisp would grab him. But then again why would she? If her brother didn't learn then she would leave him until he did. For now she was intent on clinging to her father and making his life more difficult. As if her clinging could do that for long. Her father had pried her off of him countless times before. Of course all those other times had been for her to go to bed. This time she was being settled onto Twilight's back. Rocking slightly she cast a glance over to her brother and rolled her eyes at the, what she saw as an idiot grin starting to form. Really, riding the wolves wasn't all that amazing. Of course those thoughts were quickly banished as Twilight started to move. Barely stifling a squeal when she felt the rolling muscles under her, Dante let her fingers curl further into the black wolf's fur. She hadn't been in the city for a while but, she was already getting bouncy. The city was a fun place, full of interesting things and places to cause chaos. Nothing would change on this trip of course. If anything there would be more chaos.

Cackling wickedly as she climbed onto ShadowSong's back, Ana merely flashed a grin at her cousin and Calla before she nudged the wolf forward and toward the partially open gates. Grinning she trailed her fingers through her bonded's fur, a silent nudge for the wolf to go faster. Of course, as always ShadowSong was always anxious and willing to oblige such things. As refined as the wolf was, she was still a wolf, and therefore willing to go for a run, if only for a bit of challenge. There would be no full out running though, she was aware of the twin's presence and therefore the slight hinderance they presented. Pity, she could feel her bonded, quivering, practically asking for premission to go full out. Sadly she would have to deny her bonded. At least for now.
