Johnathan is a man that people would use words like "dependable" or "compitent" to describe. He has always been a motivated individual, driven by goals unknown to anyone. His peers have come to think of him as unfatiguable and sturdy as a rock. Despite that, his unique position as both a scientist and military commander at area 36 has alienated him from his peers. He remains aloof but coldly calculating. To the children he is warm and observant, being one of the best known of the scientists present for the studies. He is well respected and liked amongst the test subjects, to them he is understanding and generous. Capt. Graves works best alone and doesn't tend to seek the company of others. Above everything he loaths incompetent, rash behavior. He is a tactian at heart and everything he does is well thought out and planned. That said, he isn't without emotion. Johnathan knows his job may possibly entail the murder of some test subjects, children, something that doesn't set well on his conscience. He possesses a soft-spot for the children that he watches, especially the youngest ones, a weakness that not even he has recognized yet. In truth, he is seen as somewhat of a "big brother" figure amongst the youth.

Johnathan grew up an army brat, both his parents were officers, his father was infantry and his mother was a doctor in the medical corps. An only child, he grew up alone in a quiet home, his parents always busy with their careers. As he grew he knew that he would be expected to follow in his parents path. He graduated from Stanford with a degree in Bioengineering, afterwards he earned his comission in the U.S. Army. The army took a vast interest in his education and pushed him all the way through his PhD. Johnathan quickly fronted the army's main bioengineering interests, projects that turned people in super-soldiers. That was how he ended up at Area 36. Captain Grave's first mission is to oversea and report back all findings to his superiors that are privy to the operation, furthermore it is his responsibility to subdue and if necessary, execute any troublesome test-subjects. Currently, Johnathan's main effort has been dedicated to finding a quick and efficient way to pacify the super-children if there are problems. Gas and tranquilizers work... most of the time, but he isn't a man who takes chances.

Charlie is the typical work oriented scientist. She knows what she wants and works hard to achieve it. She is by nature friendly and tranquil, yet because of circumstances, she realizes that it is important to understand not everything can be solved peacefully. Though she may be a klutz, Charlie isn’t afraid to try things and loves exploring beyond boundaries. She can be serious when time calls for it and she is not afraid to give up everything she has to protect the things she cares for.

The daughter of a well known and powerful governmental official, it is clear which path Charlie was destined to follow. She was brought up in a laboratory and grew familiar with all experimental equipment and tests. In her whole life, both her father and sister preached to her the importance of Project Alice. Only with this experiment, will the world survive chaos and destruction. “If the government is able to construct super-beings, then they can bring peace and prosperity to the world,” was a motto that Charlie learned to believe. Yet recently Charlie came to learn about the disastrous turn of events with the Test Subject #026 rising to power. Thus, the government has been demanding an increase in output of efficient test subjects. Charlie is more than willing to assist in creating new “soldiers” for the government as long as the promise for world salvation is kept.

Lysi is not your ordinary scientist. She wears gothic clothing and ornaments handed down by her magician family. Lysi is a very good listener and can easily read minds. Her brother-in-law once commented that she would probably grow up to be a school counseler which fortunately did not happen. As a character, she is always quick to take risks and make decisions all by herself. Lysi would rather prefer to be secluded and and work in a quiet place which ironically contradicts the fact that she is the traditional smooth-over during conflicts between scientists or subjects. Everyone always comes to take her advise since she is usually the one with a cool head during dire times and situations. Her presense of mind is worthy of applause too. Lysi can be very handy when it comes to predicting the future, creating illusions and things that tend to be a little on the supernatural side. Many scientists think that she is a great asset since she can relate very much to the subjects in Area #036. Lysi is sometimes referred to as the "bridge" since she usually acts as an entity between the subjects and scientists.

Lysi was born to a family of magicians and illusionists in Winnipeg, Canada. At least she claims to be. Considering that she was surrounded by a bunch of "tricksters", Lysi grew up practicing dark magic tricks and such. Things were rolling at a steady pace until her family was arrested by the Canadian government because of their practice. After this fateful event, Lysi had to make a daring choice of her lifetime. She decided to move out to the United States with her brother-in-law and married him at the tender age of fifteen. Despite the horrible event that struck her life, Lysi shined and prospered because of her intellectual and academic abilities. She started working as a top-notch scientist from the age of 24, which was pretty early for many people her age. Despite her busy and strenuous career as an emerging scientist, Lysi was inclined to practice magic tricks and illusions that is in her blood. After two years of hard work at one of the many government laboratories in the country, she was priviliged - or not - to be a part of the scientific team in Area #036.

Lysi's most treasured belonging is an ancient-looking casket that she calls her "First Aid". It contains all the poisonous and non-poisonous chemicals and medications that she has worked on so far. Very happy, because he gets joy from anything. He enjoys testing humans and pushing them to thier limits, even hurting them. It's one of the reasons he went into being a Surgeon, he loved to give people pain. He jokes about anything and everything. Usually very hated and seen as disgusting and a pig. He sees his life as the perfect life. The most tiring thing is caring. He doesn't care and is very rarely tired. Very racist, very sexist, a large pervert and basically the worst person you could think of. But a very precise surgeon. He's able to detatch from his patients so well... he is one of the best surgeons alive.

His mom died during child birth, so he was left to his bum of a father who in many ways is the way he is today. His father hated all women from some past relationships where, believe it or not, the woman cheated on him. He was in his sixties and stuck in the past. Wishing blacks back to 'were they belong'. In his opinion, it was under his foot. He was a very dirty man and living on the street, he taught his son everything he knew. He's very set in his ways and after his dad died, he never changed, and noone ever seemed to want to take the effort to change him anyway. Hating him was so much easier. His dad died alone and rotted alone.

The main reason he is a Surgeon on this experiment is his sick and twisted humor. He will get his hands down and dirty and loves to do the surgery for the experiments. Cold and sadistic, some could argue that Roland is Satan reincarnated. He loves nothing more than to watch others suffer, especially at his own hand, and has a very short temper. He dislikes sunlight and anything bright and cheerful. Perhaps the only bright thing he does like is the color of fire as it burns and alights whatever it touches. If any mercy is spared, it is only to those whom he believes can be quite useful to him or would be more entertaining alive rather than dead.

As a baby, Roland was abandoned and put in an orphanage where he would spend the next fifteen years of his life. As a young child, he was filled with hate towards his parents and the orphanage as well. He found joy and entertainment in torturing and killing small animals that he could catch. Since the other children feared him deeply, he was always by his lonesome and preferred it that way.
As he began to enter adolescence, his sadistic ways began to turn on the children and caretakers of the orphanage. He would do whatever he could to make them suffer, he even hanged the animal loving caretaker's cat in her office and left it there for her to later find. Finally, in desperation, the orphanage gave him to a shady man who was one of Area 36's scientists looking for subjects. Roland was perhaps their most disastrous subject ever created. Before they were able to release him into Wonderland, he escaped and almost made it out of the facility before being caught. Six people were killed before he was finally put into Wonderland.

Natalie is a very straightforward person and has a short temper, especially when she's dealing with stubborn or incompetent people. She feels no loyalty except to the Director and even that is somewhat false, since she disapproves of everything he has done and the only reason she refuses to rebel against him is because it would mean her destruction and a lost hope for the trapped subjects that she wants to free. She doesn't mind being alone and enjoys peace and quite and the outdoors. She also enjoys some sparring now and then and can take things quite literally at times.

Natalie single mother died shortly after she was born so she never knew any family besides the orphanage before being taken into a foster home when she was six. She was overjoyed to have finally been taken from the crude orphanage she came from, but her joy was quickly crushed. She found the family to be abusive and the three other foster kids to be either mean or depressing. The longer she stayed at the foster home the more abusive the parents became, especially the husband.
It was by some miracle, or at least she thought, that she was adopted by the Lawrence family. She felt greatly indebted to the family and vowed that she would repay them in any way she can. Unfortunately, her way in repayment came in assisting in controlling the situation in Wonderland. It was the last thing she could have imagined doing and it ashamed her greatly and crushed her thoughts of Jacobin before she knew what he was doing. After agreeing to help him and going through many strange tests, she was turned into what she believed to be a freak of nature. Though she doesn't fully realize it, as she thinks it might have been a side effect of the operations, is that much of her early memory from before her life in the foster home and even part of that had been wiped. She now serves as sort of a control force for the scientists, but secretly hopes to one day help release some of the subjects that have been trapped with the less saner ones.

Despite his almost sinister appearance, Aaron is a very kind and empathetic character. He understands pain and loneliness and is willing to help others who need it. However, he does have bonding issues which make it difficult for him to become close to others and can make him seem cold or uncaring at times. He has vague memories of his past, mostly of his mother, which have made him suspicious of the world that he has learned to live in. He is prone to getting himself in quite a bit of trouble due to his curiosity.

Aaron lived with his sickly, single mother in a run-down New York apartment as a child. Shortly after his seventh birthday, his mother died, which left him alone and living on the streets. With nowhere to go and fearing the orphanages, because of the awful stories he heard, Aaron wandered the city for five years until he was kidnapped by a group of men in black. He was knocked out after trying to free himself before they put him in their van. Aaron was drugged for most of the time they tested him, but every once in a while he would come to with his vision blurred and a tremendous headache only to fall into darkness again.
When he finally awoke in Wonderland he was in tremendous pain. It wasn't until a few hours later did the pain subside and he realized his bizarre appearance. For quite some time, he believed that he was merely dreaming and would wake up at any time. After some months, he gave up hope that he would ever wake up. Since then, he has wandered Wonderland, uncertain of whether this place is really a dream or not.

Though Anna acts very much like a child, she has a strange taste for anything dark or creepy. She is very frightened when she's alone or lost in a dark place.

Anna lived in a large mansion in Russia with her wealthy parents and various exotic animals, her favorite of them being the miniature rabbits. She was home schooled and had a private tutor who she despised and would frequently hide from or play pranks on. She begged her parents to send her to school and finally did when she was twelve. She loved school far more than she did her home and would stay after to hang out with some of her friends.
It didn't last long. A year after she started school, a man in the underground slave trade kidnapped her and sold her to a man collecting subjects for Project Alice. She doesn't remember anything before or during the experiment testing except the ungodly amount of pain she had undergone. When she awoke, all she remembered was her first name, the word Wonderland, and a vague reference of it from the book. She soon convinced herself that the place she was in was the Wonderland from the book. For a long while, she wandered Wonderland alone and became quite scared and lonely.
One day, she came across a boy and approached him. She was only a few feet away when he suddenly turned and viciously attacked her. The boy would have killed her if another boy hadn't arrived and scared the attacker away. The boy's name was Aaron and he helped while her wounds healed. She was grateful for Aaron saving her and she promised that she would some day return the favor, meaning that she would follow him wherever he went.

Her memory was erased while she was in the lab, but her connection with Jonathan could not be erased. When she woke up in Wonderland he was beside her. They were again inseparable in their never ending quest for the perfect cup of tea.

When Maria was young, she was an only child, and lived with her father and mother. Her mother was a kind woman, and her father was as well, but her father had a habit of drinking. Very often, he would drink too much, and he would hit Maria or her mom. Maria, eventually, snapped, and while he was ready to hit her mother, she grabbed the nearest pair of scissors, and without thinking, stabbed his hand. Then, panicking, she ran from the house and away.
Finding herself in the middle of the forest, Maria got herself lost, and could hear her father coming after her. She ran blindly, all night long, not stopping even when she thought she heard her father turning back. The only reason she did stop was because she was grabbed by a man and taken somewhere. Specifically, taken to Wonderland, where her memories were skewered, and she didn't remember either of her parents.

One word that would best sum up Adrias' demeanor would be apathetic. Having participated in an unhealthy dose of mental therapy, or ‘brain-washing’ as others would call it, he no longer has any understanding of concepts such as free will, or emotions. However this does not mean that he lacks the capacity to think. In fact, that was one of the foundations of his experimentations. Adrias was trained to think, not feel. To act, not reflect. His words are usually brief and to the point. Also, his unswerving loyalty lies with the Director Jacobin Isaac Lawrence, and the other scientists.

Adrias was the only child to a middle class family in Germany. But to his misfortune, he was a ‘mistake’ that his parents regretted and almost resented. Throughout his childhood he was commonly beaten even for the littlest things, like wanting to go outside, or getting in the way. With no formal education, his entire world was his two story home, and the windows, his prison bars. This dismal lifestyle led him to believe that he had somehow done something wrong to affect his family, though he didn’t know what it was, nor would his parents tell him. So in an effort to solve the situation, he ran away from home at the young age of eight. In the back of his mind, he had hoped that his family would come looking for him, if only so he could feel somewhat wanted, but they never did.
Several days went by, and Adrias found himself slowly starving to death as he took refuge in a local park. He would beg for food if the opportunity arose, but most people either shooed him away or simply refused to acknowledge him. On the fifth day, a well dressed foreigner who had given him food previously, returned for him. Of course Adrias was delighted to be taken by him, having been ignored for most of his life. He was immediately brought to Area 36, and received special attention as he grew up. For the scientists, he was the perfect guinea pig. Adrias would put up with any pain, and seemed very willing. Having practically grown up in Area 36 during all the experimentations, he now believes that he has always been living there as a tool waiting to be used. His primary objective is to keep the scientists safe, while his secondary objective is to protect the other denizens of Wonderland from the King of Hearts.

He doesn't seem to plan at all and simply "goes with the flow."

Once upon a time Matthias was a good, loyal little boy who refused to be anything other than honest and straightforward. He trusted everyone and was received kindly by those around him. He lived a sheltered life, something that was only possible by the large amounts of money his mother got from her job as a scientist for the Alice Project. But then mommy got fired and Matthias was sad. Suddenly everyone was a lot less nice to Matthias and Mommy frequently broke down crying. So in order to make his mother happy again, Matthias went to the head office of the Alice Project and demanded his mother's job back. His mother never saw him again. After a few weeks of mental analysis the workers of Project Alice had decided that they should subject him to a complete and total personality flip to see if he could spring back into his original ways. They altered his brain by a few quick batches of surgery and dropped him into Wonderland with no memory and only one word in his head: Cheshire. He has gone by that name ever since..:: Owner ::.

Adrian has a nice heart with space for sympathy, understanding, and knowledge.

Adrian had lived in Florida, had a middle-class family and went to college. His college was attacked by the government when the amount of subjects was running low in Wonderland. A fight erupted and several were killed and more injured, Adrian had been one of those injured. He had been shot in the leg with some chemical, or just a plain bullet, and knocked out. The operation had been kept secret by removing memeries if needed and made some excuse to cover up why the college was closed. The injured people who survived were sent to Wonderland tobe used as subjects. His memories wiped and his injury healed, Adrian had been deposited into Wonderland, the place of chaos.

She follows the same teachings of non-lethal force unless necessary of her idol.

An orphan at birth Reiroku's mother never cared for her and neither did Reiroku so when she died of an overdose Reiroku continued to live on like it was any other day. When the police came to check on the stench she didn't go back to her home. She lived on whatever she could find and when a nice man offered her food instead of kicking her she went with him.
Sixteen on the outside but still the child on the inside Reiroku only wanted to please her caretakers even when they did things that made her hurt. They promised it would be better soon. They enjoyed it when one day Reiroku made the shadows dance and even gave her a new friend, Reisichi. She was nice even sharing pretty books about animals with her. Just like all upper class people they wanted kids but none of the hassle. So they adopted Reisichi and when she was ten, not a cute little kid, they sent her to a high class school and she did well, very well. But like most rich people hard times hit and they found themselves in debt. A man came saying their problems would be over at a small price and they took it.
Next thing Reisichi knew she had abilities and was alone with an adult checking things off on a piece of paper whenever she was awake. They let her read when she was by herself but one day sent an older kid to see her. There was obviously something not right with her because she acted like a child. Not wanting to be alone she shared with Reiroku her books. For the next eight years they were unseparable learning, eating, sleeping Reisichi stuck up for Reiroku's ways and even convinced the scientist to not get rid of her saying she'd do anything to keep that from happening. Though she knows its people like her she hunts the only one she really cares for is her only real family.

Ace (real name, Helena, yet was nicknamed 'Ace' by scientists because of her playing card fixation and hasn't let go of the nickname) is an extremely gifted mathematician, with an obsession with logic and problem solving. Her addictive personality meant she quickly developed an extreme obsession with Roland, the King of Hearts, and a desperation to be near him. Although Ace is not stupid, she realises Roland's cruelty and knows what happens to his 'minions', so she admires him from afar. However, with her obsession steadily growing, it may create a situation where she is willing to be tortured just to be around him. She feels a deep strong connection to playing cards, which will be explained in her life history part, the certainty of the amount of cards, the logic of card games, the simplicity of black and red. After the experiment, she developed extreme flexibility and agility of the body, ao if needed be, she could performed spectacular stunts just with her body alone, however Ace is completely uninterested in her new physical abilities, and just eants to develop her further understanding of what she can do with playing cards. She isn't unsociable, yet people have tended to stay away from her, it can be boring hearing everything from a completely logical point of view, so a lot of the time, Ace is isolated. She needs to cure her obsession with Roland before she can begin to develop relationships with others, and of course, with obsessions, there is no desire to cure it.

Ace was kidnapped from her promising, but normal life. Having travelled from France to America when she was very young, and her family being very poor, her parents were determined for her to succeed. She was allowed no social life and had to stay in and improve her nautral mathematic ability. She started to become well-known in her area for her amazing logical ability, and was nick-named 'the human calculator', yet the social isolation loomed in, afteer all, who wants to become friends with a calculator girl? She continued on and became lonelier and lonelier. As university prospects came in and her career began to be planned out for her by her proud parents, it all became too much and she attempted to escape from her home life. She was walking down a street one day when a chiselled, strong-looking man stopped her in her tracks and asked her if she was Helena, the calculator girl. She sighed and replied yes, as she realised she couldn't escape what she had been brought up to be. Just as she began to slip into despair, she looked up again at the guy, who was beaming down at her in a way no man had ever smiled at her before. He asked her if he could show her a card trick, which he did and she worked it out immediatly. It was only a few seconds after she had delivered the correct answer when the guy looked up, nodded, and before she could turn around she felt a hand over her face. She was kidnapped blind and swpet away to a location she had never seen before. In this medical looking place she was forced to watch card trick after card trick, and countless logical problems using cards, to see if she could work them out. After physical experiments were done on her, she was forced to undergo the same copious amount of logical dilemmas, to see if the physical changes would have any affect on her mental abilities. The cards began to be the only consistent thing in her life, the only thing thing that she could work out and make sense, which turned into an obsession. When she was put into wonderland, she was quickly warned about the 'King of Hearts', and the very mention of 'hearts' sparked another obsession, and this time it was a living breathing human she could channel all of that energy into.

Jacobin is a man dedicated to research and science. Though he works to find ways to better protect his country, he cares little for human life and sees others as nothing more than tools. Consequently, he feels no empathy or emotion towards others, even his family. He is very ambitious about his work and will do anything to progress it. He loves to be left alone to pour over science and medical books in his meager spare time. Because of his demeanor, he is very intimidating and always acts cold and uncaring towards the well-being of others.

Born in a U.S. military base, Jacobin lived most of his childhood and adolescents traveling with his parents and younger sister. His father was a high ranking general who was strict and expected Jacobin to join the army whether he wanted to or not. To his father's distaste, it was obvious that Jacobin would never become a great soldier, due to his poor eyesight and his lack of interest in anything besides books.
In order to somewhat please his father, he became a biological engineer for the government. After the death of his sister and his father's painful struggle with cancer, Jacobin was sent to Area 36 to work on Project Alice. He eventually moved his way up and began acting more as their director. During this time, he married a beautiful, wealthy girl from California and had one son and an adopted daughter.
When the trouble in Wonderland began, Jacobin figured that the only way that he could control the situation is with stronger subjects that would obey him. It was difficult to make subjects obedient by force and was rarely successful. He concluded that he would need willing subjects whom he could have some trust in. His thoughts finally fell on his adopted daughter, the only one who would do anything for him after taking her from the wretched foster home she had come from. After many excruciating tests, he finally turned his daughter into a weapon that was par with the King of Hearts. He now uses her to gather intelligence from the other subjects and plans to use her to capture or destroy the King of Hearts, who he deems too dangerous to be kept in Wonderland.
