Itzel woke up early, she enjoyed rising with the sun. Day light was a great thing, it brought so many colors of the world into view. She slipped out of the den she had been living in lately. Itzel was begining to learn that if she kept to a daily routine she remembered more and more.
The white lioness moved quickly over the lands, wanting to go to her favourite spot, the river. As she made it to the river she slipped into the cool refreshing water.
xo_Kairi:
Leilani was shaky. She'd been spooked last night by a hare, and hadn't managed to get back to sleep. The tiredness, and still a little of the fear, was preventing her from keeping her paws moving straight, and as such she was walking in an erratic, confused line towards the nearby watering hole. It wasn't really a 'hole' - more a long line, a river was what she thought it was called. But she couldn't remember. Leilani's mind had always been jumbled...well, at least since her children.
Children! Where were they!? Had he taken them, had he...
Oh no, wait. The tense leopardess calmed, continuing in her shaky line. They were grown - her children had left her, and she was alone. Alone again. She didn't know where her family were, she'd lost them a long time ago. They'd be so disappointed in her, anyway. They wouldn't want her. And him...she didn't want him to come back. She'd escaped, and kept her chlidren safe. She'd hidden. She couldn't deal with him again.
Reaching the river, the bright leopardess lowered her head, taking slow, careful gulps.
nessiaing:
Itzel paused her playful swimming when the other creature came to the waters edge. She watched her from a safe distance. The creature was a leopard she was pretty sure. She wondered why the poor creature was walking in sucha a confused pattern.
The white lioness moved slowly through the water, trying to make little to no noise, she didn't want to startle the drinking creature but she did want a closer look. She eyed the peach and blue creature, her coloring was quite striking. She placed a smile on her maw "Hello" she said in a very pleasant voice.
xo_kairi:
The voice didn't just startle her - a sharp intake of breath. A scream. And jump back, followed by a shuffle until she was at least a metre away from the water's edge. It was clear that Leilani did not take well to strangers. Her wide, amber eyes watched Itzel carefully, feet light and ready to turn should she need to run. She'd gotten fast, over the years. She was pretty sure she could outrun a lion...
But no. She didn't seem to be attacking. She didn't even seem to be mean, or cruel. Just...nice. Was that even possible? Swallowing, tongue running over her teeth, Leilani remained crouched on the ground, answering with an extremely cautious, "Hello."
nessiaing:
"I am sorry." Itzel told the leopardess. She was suddenly nervous about greating this creature, nervous jumpy creatures might attack, and that was not what Itzel wanted, she just wanted to have someone to have a nice conversation with, make a new friend, even if she wouldn't remember that friend in a days time.
"I mean absolutely no harm, I promise." she told the leopardess, "My name is Itzel" she hoped that by telling her name the other creature would understand that she meant no harm. Itzel moved towards the waters edge, feeling that she could take a more submissive position if she was out of hte water, her body languatge would be more evident.
xo_kairi:
Promises? Leilani scoffed. She remembered a time, when promises meant something. Then they'd all been broken, just like her. Just like her heart. She didn't believe in promises, but something in her told her that this lion was telling the truth. She didn't think she'd hurt her. Slowly raising herself into a standing position, albeit a shaky one, Leilani took one step forwards. Then she stopped.
"...Leilani." she offered, a little bluntly, eyes always watching the lion. At least she wasn't a cheetah. "...Sorry."
nessiaing:
As the leopardess rose to her feet Itzel lowered onto her stomach. She kept eye contact but at the same time she kept her eyes lower, not wanting to make her think she was challanging the authority of the other. Itzel may have no memories, but she understood basic interaction still.
"Oh my dear you have nothing to be sorry for, I was the one who startled you. I forget myself sometimes, the world is a dangerous place." she somewhat chuckled at the irony of forgetting herself, something the other creature wouldhave missed not knowing the problems that itzel had problems with her memory.
"I just meant to great you and strike up a pleasant conversation, is all.
xo_kairi:
She was staying low, in a submissive position. Leilani paniked a little, eyes darting to each side. Was this a trick? She'd never, ever been in a dominant position before, she didn't know what to do! Someone had always told her what to do, always given her a path. The idea of finding her own path scared her.
Itzel had startled her? Well, she supposed that was true...Leilani shuffled awkwardly, watching Itzel. Conversation? "Oh...okay. Uhm...How are you?" That was how you started a conversation, right?
nessiaing:
Itzel smiled happy that the other one was willing to try. "I am good!" she said in a bubbly voice, resisting the urge to jump up in excitement, she knew if she did this whole thing would have to start over again.
"How about you are you good? Are you from around here?" she asked not really considering that the other might feel overwhelmed by so many questions. THe lioness wagged her tail in happiness of making a friend, it felt like such an accomplishment with this particular soul.
xo_kairi:
A smile? Leilani couldn't remember when she'd last smiled. When she was with her family, maybe? Not even her children had seen her smile. It was slowly dawning on the leopardess that she was more than broken from that horrible cheetah. She was shattered, and it was going to take a lot to repair her. Maybe...maybe this could be the start of it. Today here, with Itzel. Itzel could be her first friend.
"I'm...fine, thank you," she replied, trying to smile. It ended up only the corners of her mouth twitching upwards for a moment, but it was something. "I'm from a long way away." she replied, stopping there. She did not want to go into detail.
nessiaing:
Ah you are a traveller, very nice." Itzel said, she wasn't one to push into other's lives, it just wasn't her place and that was fine. "I use to travel a lot, but I have been staying in this area lately." she said smiling she was excited that she was remembering a little more about her life. She knew where her den was and she knew she had a protector, though she couldn't remember her protectors name.
Itzel rose to her feet only for a minute needing to stretch her legs. She tried to remain low while she stretched. "I am glad that we have been able to ttalk." she told the leopardess, she had begin to see a change in Leilani since the beginning of there exchange.
xo_kairi:
Traveller? Was that what she was? Leilani nodded a little reluctantly, figuring agreeing would be the best option. People liked it when you agreed with them, right?
Itzel offered information on her life, but Leilani couldn't help but remain tight-lipped, merely offering another twith of her lips.
Oh, was she leaving? The lionness stood, and talking about how glad she was to have talked. That was an indication that she wanted to leave, yes? Leilani inclined her head a little, beginning to shuffle backwards. "It was nice to talk to you, too."
nessiaing:
Itzel smiled, the interaction was awkward between them. "I don't want to leave, but there is much I have today before night fall comes." it was a long way off night fall, but she wanted to make sure she was able to get some hunting done, and well she wanted to see a certain lion before it was night time.
xo_kairi:
She didn't want to leave? Then why was she standing, talking about the conversation? Leilani felt awkward, and she didn't like it. She shuffled backwards a little more, an indication that she wanted leave. "I also have things to do," she lied, although she was good at it. She continued shuffling backwards, not aware of how to properly conduct herself. "Thank you for your company."
nessiaing:
"Good bye." Itzel said simply, she had a feeling that the leopard felt awkward, and she didn't want to make the other creature feel uncomfortable. She nodded quickly and turned to take her leave. It had been nice to have this talk with Leilani, but it was done now, and that was just the fact of life.
xo_kairi:
Leilani waited until the lion turned, before shuffling backwards a little more and finally turning herself, leaping off back into the forestation. This had been awkward. Perhaps friends weren't too great an idea.
