Life as a Genin

"...What is my Motivation?..."

It was a beautiful day in the Village hidden in the leaves, or so to speak the more well known name of the village was, "The Hidden Leaf Village." Haku which was just an ordinary boy who was born into a average family had been somewhat forced to enter the ninja academy the village had, if he did not his parents feared that he may never meet a single person on the face of the planet except for them, since he hardly ever left his room and never left the house. Since Haku was bored of his routine activities that he did everyday he had no objections to his parent's idea, but inside he felt fear of not being accepted or made fun of. It had been about a year now after he joined the academy, while he participated in the academy he showed vast skill and talent in the Ninjutsu department, specifically Doton Ninjutsu, the jutsu that used earth elements as attacks or defenses. Even though he was shown as a skilled ninja and a smart boy he still had no friends, he was afraid to talk to other boys and girls and the same went for them. Haku had now graduated from the academy and was now a Genin, but picking flowers and catching cats were quite boring to him, but he didn't seem to mind. Now being assigned to a team with other Genin's his fears of not being accepted and loved, or liked, arouse inside of him once more making him shiver from time to time.

It was a few weeks after Haku had graduated as he slowly woke up, hands moving achingly to his eyes giving the two eye sockets a few rubs as he woke up. Light yawns left his mouth while he sat up on his bed, tilting his head and glancing out of the window conveniently beside his bed. "Yet another boring day of doing nothing" he muttered to himself, then rubbed his arm with his hand realizing that today was the day he was matched up into a team with other boy and girl ninjas, the thought of it just gave him shivers. Slowly Haku plopped off the bed and walked as if limping in laziness to the bathroom to get ready for the day. A few moments later Haku had fixed up his hair, washed his face, brushed his teeth and got dressed, pulling on a black somewhat of a coat/hoodie that ended at his waist, black pants with bandages wrapped around his right upper thigh, just for the style thing that everyone was doing now a days. Small triangle marks were under his eyes, which from far away somewhat resembled the shapes of tears, portraying his character and personality, frightful of what others thought. Haku looked at the forehead protecter with the Hidden Leaf symbol engraved onto it, he ran his hand over it and picked it up as he tied it onto his upper left arm. He slowly walked down the stairs and waved good bye to his mother as he pulled the hood of his hoodie up and walked out the door. Instantly the light of the sun blinded his eyes making him glance down at the ground his eyes blurred a little, still not fully adjusting to the light. Haku started to walk down the streets of the Village glancing at the ground but soon he lifted his head up and looked around after his eyes had finally adjusted to the sun and its bright light. Now Haku walked towards the Academy, to finally find out what team and who he was paired up with.

A few moments later he stopped and decided to get breakfast first turning to the left of the street he plopped down on a chair in a Ramen stand. Haku sighed and looked at the owner "I would like a medium beef ramen please" he said. The owner looked at him and nodded happily "Alright Haku, good morning, congratulations of graduating" he replied, Haku just smiled insecurely and nodded "thank you" was his response to the congratz. The owner had seen Haku many times and really that was the only person Haku has ever really talked to. Later after the owner had made the ramen Haku dug into it finishing it in around ten minutes as he paid and lowered his head to the owner in respect "Thanks again" he said quietly, returning to his route towards the academy. Haku was finally there after about a 30 minute journey from his house and breakfast to the academy, opening the doors he walked in and slid into the class where all the graduated Genin's were, most of them already there. The sound of loud laughter and chitter chatter made Haku even more uncomfortable as he sat down in the back corner of the room, the sensei would say the teams in about ten minutes. Haku just glanced out the window as a shiver ran up his spine from the thought of getting paired up with one or two of these crazy ninja boys and girls. A few of the popular class boys pointed at Haku and laughed making jokes about him, Haku sighed as he heard a insult from a boy "Haha look at that boys face he's got tear marks because he cant cry anymore, what a coward and cry baby" he yelped out followed by almost half of the class laughing at the remark. Haku just shivered a lil and stared out the window dying inside once more from the insult. Haku could of killed him in a fight, but would not resort to violence, it would not make him feel any better.

"...What is my Motivation?..."

Haku continued to glance out of the window, he had his head resting on his left hand just looking out seeing a flock of butterflies flutter past the window and into a nearby flower pasture. He hated being isolated like this, getting laughed at by the popular ninjas and watching those obsessive girls fall in love and become fangirls of the so called "hot ninjas" in the class. His eyes slowly closed and he drifted off into his thoughts thinking about all that happened in the past few years. Images of the times he trained alone, the times he ate, the times he was in class, the time he walked to the academy and back... every image and moment he saw in his mind... was him by his lonesome self not having anyone to spend his time with or to talk to, no one would accept him he thought to himself, "what would anyone want with a lil sadist ninja boy like me..." he said in his mind.

Moments after Haku opened his eyes as he heard a voice that seemed to belonging to a girl. It took him a few seconds until he registered into his mind that the girl was talking to him, he turned his head and looked at the girl. Haku glanced up and down at the girl that seemed to be talking to him. He listened to her question and nodded a lil insecurely "y-yea we haven't" he replied to her first question listening to her introduce herself. "M-my name is Haku Kaori" he said introducing himself back, sighing more as he heard the so called "hot popular boy" named Saiko laugh at him "Haha can you not talk without stuttering you lil sadist?" he asked laughing as the girls that Komaki hanged out with laughed to the joke pointing at Haku, seeing that they were Saiko's fangirls. Haku just sighed and looked back out the window as if ignoring Kai now, afraid that she would make fun of him as well.

Haku stared out the window then heard Kai's voice somewhat defend him he was a bit surprised as he heard her sit down in the chair beside him, he continued to look out the window hearing the light high pitched giggles of the girls suddenly stop and Kai replying to that with a "thank you," he sighed once more and saw a leaf fall off a nearby tree and land gently on the ground, he shook his head a bit hearing Kai ask him a few things and talk to him which also surprised him. No one had ever talked to him, not even dared to approach him, maybe he was to scary or just to damn quiet, who knew.

Haku listened to her comment "n-no its alright, i just tend to be alone more, I've gotten use to it" he replied to her. Insecurely smiling as he heard the light nervous laugh, he felt shivers run up his spine as she asked if he knew what squad he may be put in, he had heard from his sensei that he was probably going to get up into squad one, or team one. "P-possibly squad one" he said in reply quietly. A few moments later he heard Saiko laugh once more and the screech of the chair beside him pushed back, he turned his head to see what was going on. Haku's eyes widened a bit, his gray emotionless eyes brightened a bit seeing Kai looking at Saiko and defending Haku, no one had ever defended him before nor even took his side. The sensei walked in moments after and saw the two "settle down kids and sit down i now have the squad lists with me" he said as he walked to the front of the room. Haku looked at the Sensei and then glanced at Kai a little ,wondering what squad he or she was going to be in, the thought making him shiver once more.

The teacher looked at the scroll but before he opened it and red he looked at the class and spoke, "congratulations kids, you are not Genin proud and loyal ninjas to the village of Konoha, now i will say the squads" He said as he opened the scroll examining it. "Squad one: Haku Kusuke Kaori, Komakai Migoto Shichiyou, and Shiro Kin Kawasumi," "Squad two: Megami No Yami..." he continued to read the squads, Haku looked at Kai and smiled insecurely as it seemed like he was pared up in a squad with her and another boy named Shiro, he had seen him before but never met him. After a few minutes the sensei had finished reading all the squads and rolled up the scroll "each squad will be assigned to a Jounin, which is your teacher or sensei for squads and missions, dismissed" he said as he walked out of the class room. Chitter chatter arose in the room seconds after as everyone talked about their squads. Haku just looked back out the window.

"...What is my Motivation?..."

Haku listened to Kai as she asked a few questions and said a few comments, he nodded to the first one then sighed a little. He glanced around the room with all the ruckus seeing a male that looked somewhat older than all the kids in the class, Haku pointed at him "thats Shiro, he's quite old, three years older than me and I'm fifteen" he said. Haku shivered once more as Kai raised the though of them being under a teacher, "great now a sensei to make fun of me" he though to himself as he stood up. "I don't quite know who the sensei is yet" he said as he put his hands into his hoodie pocket and started to walk out of the room, strolling down the hall he was out the academy doors in minutes. Haku looked around and then stared up at the sky a few moments past as he took a left turn and continued to walk, walking into the training grounds outside the academy, the ground was hard and there was little grass from all the training that was done in the area.

Haku closed his eyes, he pulled his hands out of his pockets and suddenly did a few quick hand seals "Doryuu Taiga" he whispered under his breath then he slammed his hands against the ground. When he did this a river of mud appeared around him flowing down in front of him. Haku sighed a few seconds later he did a few more hand seals "Doryuudan" he spoke out, while he did suddenly the river of mud started to rumble and the form of a dragon's neck and head emerged, the mouth of it opened and it glowed white, suddenly it started rapidly shooting out mud projectiles hitting all three of the training posts in front of him. Haku panted a little seeing that ninjutsu took a lot of chakra from him, he then did a hand motion and touched the mud as it sinked into the earth. He walked over to a nearby lake and sat down hugging his knees looking at his own reflection in the lake, running his finger through it.

Haku continued to run his finger through the lake water, as he heard most of the Genin's leave the academy to go have some fun or hang out, he just sat there knees to his chest watching all the ripples run around his finger as it glazed through the surface of the water. A few minutes later he heard footsteps behind him and then heard a familiar voice, Kai's voice he presumed. Haku listened to her talk to him politely, he looked back at her for a second then quickly looked back at the lake "h-hey K-Kai" he said in reply softly, his finger had stopped moving in the water and moved back to hugging his knees.

It took Haku a while but then finally got the courage to speak out and ask Kai something "K-Kai... why do you talk to me... even though I'm in your squad now, why arn't you like the other boys and girls that make fun of me and make jokes about me?" he asked insecurely and quietly his voice quivering a little as he asked Kai this. Truly this was a mystery he wanted to find out, maybe she was dared to talk to him, yea thats it, he thought to himself. "Y-you were dared to talk to me right, by your friends..." he asked, but said it like he was stating it. Haku was indeed very shy and he kept away from a lot of social things and parties as much as possible because of the fright of being rejected and made fun of, that was why it seemed like he was ignoring people all the time.
