Living outside wasn't absolutely terrible.

Last night, he didn't even sleep outside! He had managed to dart around the occasional security guard and the janitor to get some sleep indoors. While it wasn't warm because the heat wasn't on all that high in the school, it was warmer than the steel benches had been. He could get used to this 'being a bum' thing if he kept finding ways around it like that. And getting food wasn't that hard either! All he had to do was grab extra from the lunch line and slip away while no one was paying attention. It really wasn't that hard, considering how crowded the cafeteria was. It just took Grayson not noticing he was stealing, because the last thing he wanted Grayson to do was start asking questions.

Some people might've called his decision to leave home entirely after that brief but powerful argument with his father nothing short of stupid. Ignacio called it a matter of pride. He wasn't going to take being bitched at anymore for everything he did or moreso didn't do, even if it required living away from home. As a bum. Like his father had suggested he'd become anyway.

If that had completely backfired, Ignacio wasn't paying much mind to this fact.

Before lunch, Ignacio visited his locker to straighten out his messier-than-casual hair. Once he got it under decent control, he determined that it added to his boyish charms, grinned at himself in the mirror, and slammed the locker door shut, ignoring the sound of the magnetized mirror falling down the locker door. At least he had managed to get that much straightened out; the guidance counselor was perfectly willing to de-clutter his schedule and now Ignacio at least had a functional lunch... and even better, it did happen to be Grayson's lunch period.

And he would have been heading to join him for lunch if he hadn't gotten himself distracted. A girl was the focus of his distraction this time, a grin on his face from ear to ear as he decided that this girl obviously wanted him from the way she was looking at him. So Ignacio would all too happily oblige her, slipping over to the cotton-candy blue mop with a suave grin that was actually pretty decent from a freckled teenager with boyish charm.

"Hello there, ma'am. I couldn't help but notice your beautiful eyes looking at me from down the hall. Would you care to have lunch together?"

Ignacio thought he was Prince Charming, and offered his arm in an obvious assumption that she would accept his blatant flirting...
PostPosted: Thu Jan 07, 2010 8:37 pm

Dani had been staring at the freckled new kid, there was no denying it. He was new, so he was interesting, at least temporarily; soon enough he would become just a regular student and she would either recruit him as a friend or not. Given the way he'd suddenly grinned (oh, she had seen that look before) she decided likely not.

He only reinforced this idea when he moseyed over, laid it on thick, and offered his arm like he was prince charming and she was some kind of Disney princess.

While she was totally adorable, she was so -- ugh, so totally -- not interested. Just because she was cute didn't mean anyone who felt like it could walk over and hit on her, okay? It got old. Also, she was still completely trying to bully Parker into dating her. Probably.

"Ugh, no thank you." She lifted her hand, the gesture all attitude, and brushed him off. "Last I checked, glancing at someone wasn't like, an open invitation."

She'd thought this was the guy all the girls in her homeroom had been buzzing about having a Total Gay Moment with another guy, but obviously, she was wrong. How many new kids had more freckles than face, anyway?

Actually, this was the same guy who had the Total Gay Moment earlier. Perhaps, that was the worst part. Ignacio quirked a brow curiously as she suddenly snapped her hand up with the typical head-waggle teenage girl attitude, and had to hold back his snickers. Girls who did that really didn't understand how utterly ridiculous they looked...

"Well, you seemed to be studying me rather closely," replied the boy with more freckles than face, with an amused shrug. Still, he seemed to get over the rejection rather quickly. "Eh, just a misunderstanding. I can understand when a girl isn't into me." That was oddly modest for his ego, but his attentions were elsewhere.

...Not that he was really acknowledging that, anyway. If anything, he was completely unaware of it. "You want to go to lunch anyway? Haven't seen you around before," no s**t Sherlock, Holmes would have insulted Ignacio for that terrible statement. "I'm Ignacio Araya, senior and ready to leave." As per usual, he was moving on like nothing had happened because, as per usual, it didn't really bother him. Ignacio couldn't be bothered; he might-as-well make a new friend instead. This place was too foreign and disconnected for him after so long away.

The one thing the powder blue haired one might notice, though, was that Ignacio Araya certained matched up to the name that the girls in her homeroom were giggling about. Nacio could only mean so many things.

Dani's ego was a little disappointed that he dismissed the topic so quickly, but it was quickly swamped by relief that she didn't have to get physical to convince him that she wasn't interested. While Dani wasn't the type to go beating on someone for flirting with her, she had been known to shove a guy back with a bad-tempered look, and it tended not to make her many friends. She wasn't too concerned considering she had friends and was totally awesome, anyway, so people who didn't like her were only hurting themselves, but something about Ignacio's speech caught her attention.

His name, actually. Hadn't been saying something about an Ignacio? How they knew his name already was beyond her, but gossip mills were fast and furious things. All she knew about the other half of the Gay Moment was that he had dark hair and his name was apparently "Gray." Well, and the word in the halls was that they knew each other from before transferring together, though it had seemed a surprise to them both.

Fate or something, probably. Dani wouldn't go entirely out of her way to figure it out, because the story was bound to come to light eventually, but she also wouldn't turn away a perfectly good opportunity to learn more.

Especially if they actually were a couple. She could really use a gay girlfriend, okay?

"I am going to lunch," she decided, giving him another briefly suspicious look. "If you're going to lunch too, fine. You can sit with me if you want," she added, appearing to think she was very gracious in doing so, especially considering he'd just hit on her, ugh.

After a beat, she added, "Just as a niceness to a new student, though." She liked to be Completely Clear if it at all possible.

Ignacio would completely resent being called a potential gay girlfriend. He could argue that he wasn't gay all day, but in the end it really didn't bother him what people labeled him. Now, girlfriend, on the other hand... Ignacio was not a girl. He did not appreciate being referred to as a girl. He was a guy. He used the men's bathroom, and he clearly had the equipment, thanks very much.

Perhaps it was a good thing that Dani wasn't saying that, then, because he accepted the offer with ease. "Of course," replied Ignacio, with a chuckle. "Mind if I invite Grayson over to our table too? He's a new student as well." Why he suddenly thought of Grayson again was beyond him, especially when he had eyecandy in front of his eyes, but he would figure that out later or Sherlock Holmes would certainly scold him while he slept on the bench.

Gray... Grayson... might've been the same guy. Seemed likely, anyway. Of course, Ignacio wasn't aware that he was just feeding the fire with everything he said. Poor Ignacio... "And no need to act suspicious, really. I honestly just want to eat lunch."

He was hungry. Not that anyone knew about his situation, of course, but one meal and some cold snacks later really weren't enough for a young adult boy, or much of anyone really. He was more tired and sluggish, but it wasn't really that noticable yet. If anything, he just seemed a little more... mellow than usual.

Which was perfectly normal. School could do that to people. "So, ready to go?" And Ignacio shifted his backpack once again, somewhat irritated with the weight on his back.

Grayson. Gray? Things were lining up, and Dani was as pleased as if she'd orchestrated the entire scenario herself. Without giving it another moment's thought, she yanked her lunch bag out of her locker and nudged it shut with her hip, grinning. "Lead the way!"

Dani was clearly a teenage girl. She could go from sulking suspicious to sunshiney smiles in about .3 seconds, and she didn't seem ashamed of this fact. Her needs were simple, mostly, and as long as she was kept in a good humor, the world would be a beautiful and lovely place.

The trek to the lunch room was a short one, and since she already had her food in hand, she said cheerfully, "I'll get us a table. Go find your friend and bring him over, okay?"

Finding his friend wouldn't prove to be difficult. He was standing in the lunch line, as Grayson was far too lazy to ever pack his own food in the mornings, having an apparently animated conversation with a classmate. The girl seemed pleasant enough, a bit giggly, but overall it looked like they were having a nice conversation.

He reached over for an apple, placed it on his tray, and smiled at the girl. When Ignacio got within earshot, he would likely only be able to catch: "-plans for prom. Are you going with anyone?"

His first week back, and they were talking prom already?

Ignacio nodded, heading over to the lunch line to go find where Grayson went off to. He couldn't've gone that far. And, indeed, Ignacio was soon able to pick up the low sidetail and those incredibly pasty legs. After swiping an apple and shoving it in his pocket (like that didn't look suspicious), Ignacio slipped forward to invite Grayson over to his table...

...Just to find him being asked to prom. Why couldn't anyone ask him to prom? He was attractive too! Everyone loved slightly tossled hair and half the girls he had ever known usually ended up squealing over freckles, calling them cute. If he was cute, then he totally deserved to be asked out, right? Stupid girls. Of course, he couldn't blame her for asking Grayson out. Grayson was attractive, even in that uniform that made his legs like white highlighters. Hell, he would ask Grayson out to the prom too--

--Um wait.

Ignacio shrugged it off before strolling up behind Grayson, poking him in the shoulder. "Hey Gray," offered the freckled one, with a wide grin, before turning his attentions to the girl he was talking to. "Who's this?" He honestly didn't intend to come off as jealous. He wasn't even jealous, except for the fact that he was wishing that he was the one asking him out. Or being asked out. Right.

But to the fangirls, he probably sounded incredibly jealous, especially with the odd smile he was giving her.

It was playing out like a bad scene in one of those Japanese comic books - you know, the boylove ones. Cute, willowy guy was talking to a girl in the lunch line, and the other guy came over and marked his territory with a smile and proximity. Grayson didn't see it this way, having no concept that Ignacio was interested in him for anything other than friendship, but the girl's eyes went a little wide at the intrusion.

"This is Natasha," Grayson supplied, giving the girl a brief smile before glancing back to Ignacio. "We have homeroom together."

And they sat beside each other. He liked her well enough; she was friendly and personable, and they'd already spent the majority of the week getting to know one another better in class. He'd actually been sitting with her at lunch, too, mostly for lack of anywhere else to sit.

"Nice to meet you," Natasha said, barely managing to hide her interest. "Are you Gray's friend? He mentioned a few people he knew going here."

If she was keenly interested in the fact that this boy had popped up when they were discussing prom, she didn't show it.

Ignacio wasn't interested in Grayson for anything more than friendship. So the man was attractive. Very attractive, besides for the fact that his legs looked like glue in the Meadowview uniform. Still, that didn't mean he was interested in Grayson for anymore than a friend. Lucas was vaguely attractive too, when he wasn't being a sleazeball, but Ignacio got over that quickly enough. Heck, that Yvette girl was absolutely adorable and he felt like he could just squeeze her, but that didn't mean anything either.

Ignacio was trying to figure out why Natasha's eyes were so wide when Grayson turned to talk to him. "Oh. She looks very nice," offered Ignacio, with another winsome grin, before he turned towards Natasha's voice.

Thankfully for the girl, her keen interest in him was completely lost on him for the moment. Instead, he supplied, "Yup. I'm Ignacio Araya, but you can call me Nacio." Today was going well in the meeting new people department. First there was the girl with powder blue hair, and now there was a friend Grayson made. Before long, Ignacio would start developing his social circle.

And that would make the inattentive man much more comfortable. "I finally got a lunch with you, Gray," and his attention seemed to be off Natasha again for the moment. "You're welcome to sit with me? I'm with a friend too, but I'd love to have you join us. Table's big enough for plenty more." And with that, he took the apple out of his pocket, bit it, and then shoved it back in his pocket.

Behavior fitting of a Hillworth student.

They moved through the line, Grayson adding this and that to his tray, until they finally reached the end. He punched in his student ID to pay and didn't notice that Ignacio was smuggling food out in his pockets, considering his eyes didn't tend to stray to the shorts his friend was wearing if he could help it. Grayson really didn't like Meadowview's uniform.

"That sounds nice. I'll sit with you." Grayson glanced to Natasha, asking, "Would you like to sit with us?"

"Actually." Natasha looked over, saw a friend gesturing to her. "I'm going to sit at the usual table, okay, Gray? Maybe we'll have lunch together tomorrow or something."

That said, she juggled her tray, waving a little to Ignacio. "Nice to meet you! I think we have a class together? I'll see you then." and she was gone, no doubt to gossip with her friends about what she'd seen and heard in the line.

Not thinking much of it, Grayson looked to Ignacio for guidance. "Where are we sitting?"

Ignacio managed to smuggle quite a bit of a lunch in his pockets. The only thing he actually paid for was the hamburger he had gotten from the grill area; stuffing a hamburger in his pockets would just make his pants dirty and they'd smell bad faster. That was the last thing he needed at the moment, all things considered. He needed to keep his outfit clean as much as possible.

...Pssh, sit with her tomorrow? No, Grayson was going to sit with him tomorrow. ...Wait, why did it matter? He could sit with that Natasha woman too. It would help increase his circle of friends, anyway. And the bigger that circle was, the more Meadowview would feel like home in the way Barren Pines had when it wasn't a school for the dead.

"Over there," offered Ignacio, after properly saying goodbye to the other girl. "With the girl with the powder-blue hair. She seems nice enough." Though she was full of teenage attitude, which was one of the real reasons why he wanted to sit with her. He really wanted to see if she'd do anything else as funny as that head-waggle talk-to-the-hand thing she was doing earlier.

And then, he offered a relieved smile, withdrawing the stolen apple from his pocket to start eating it again. It actually was a fairly good apple, if a bit warm. "It's nice to finally have a lunch! It's especially nice I was able to work out one with you. Turns out the class I had here was unnecessary to graduation, and all I really care about at this point is graduating and getting my butt out of here." There were other things he was concerned about too, but not many and none of them had to do with school.
PostPosted: Fri Jan 08, 2010 8:10 pm

"That's good." Grayson followed where he indicated, and was surprised to see Dani sitting at the table. She'd mentioned that she went to Meadowview, but he hadn't thought that Ignacio would make friends with her. Not that she was unlikable, just that it was a little too odd, considering he'd met her only the night before with Jude.

She looked up, and appeared equally surprised to see him. "Grayson?"

He blinked, breaking into a broad grin, and slid into the seat across from her. "Hi, Dani."

For some reason, it hadn't clicked to Dani that Gray = Grayson = Leo. She felt a little silly in retrospect, but she was too happy to see him again to care. Dani wasn't the type who liked to work in a team, but Sagittarius and Leo hadn't been completely horrifying to work with, unlike just about every other senshi encounter she'd had, so she didn't want to burn any bridges.

Really, really didn't want to burn any bridges.

"How are you? Oh my gosh, I just realized, we didn't exchange numbers." She dug around in her purse, tossed her phone to him. "Program yourself in mine and give me your phone, okay?"

Used to being swept along in the tide, Grayson caught her phone and then passed his own, pausing a moment to grin at Ignacio. "Dani and I met yesterday." Details weren't necessary. It would probably be assumed that they'd met at school.

What a small world.

They knew each other?

Go figure. Grayson was making friends a lot faster than Ignacio was, that was for certain. And Grayson spent half the time sleeping in his classes. How was it that Ignacio was having trouble meeting anyone new, really, except people that he somehow kept running into that were from Barren Pines and whatever exactly had happened there?

It must have been something about Grayson. Ignacio sat down with a small shrug, before beginning to unload the food from his pockets while Grayson and Dani, apparently, were busy having a reunion. Besides for the apple and the hamburger that Ignacio had actually bought and not stolen, Ignacio managed to come out of the line with a breakfast bar and a rather large chocolate chip cookie that left crumbs in his pocket. Grayson turned back towards Ignacio just as Ignacio turned his pocket inside out to dump its remaining contents.

It seemed, at least, that Grayson had missed Ignacio unloading his stolen goods. Well, that was a relief. He really didn't feel like answering questions right now. "Huh. Must be a small world, then," replied Ignacio, with an easy chuckle, before he began to eat his sandwich. "Of course, I suppose Meadowview isn't that big of a school either..." Really, Ignacio was just making excuses. Meadowview, being the primary public high school of Destiny City, was probably also the largest.

Look at Grayson, exchanging numbers. His own phonebook was still... pitiful. "Hm, that reminds me. Still need to clean out my phonebook." Grayson would know why. Dani didn't need to know why. Instead, Ignacio simply took out his cell phone and started systematically deleting names while eating his burger with his other hand.
PostPosted: Fri Jan 08, 2010 9:18 pm

Once the phone business was finished and everyone's mobiles were back in their proper hands, Grayson began to eat. He was glad to see Dani again, though he wondered at not seeing her in class. When he voiced this, she informed him that she was only fifteen, and he blinked in surprise. Dani looked much older than she was; he would have assumed seventeen at the least, nineteen at the most. She didn't seem to mind, merely shrugging, and added that a lot of people made the mistake.

She didn't say why, which he assumed was because of her cleavage. Grayson had glanced, had improperly used it to gauge her age, and moved on. He figured that was a pretty normal response for anyone.

"I need to clean my phone out too," Dani said breezily, unaware of Ignacio's motives for doing so. She was also going to add special tags to all her senshi contacts, just... nothing so obvious as "SENSHI" right next to their names.

"Mine's new, so." He leaned toward Ignacio, nodded slightly at his phone with a small smile. "Careful you don't delete me."

Ignacio glanced at cleavage, but that wasn't to determine age. He also glanced at peoples' rear ends for similar reasons; what could he say? He enjoyed the beauty of the human body immensely, and loved to admire it. Dani was no exception, with her figure, though it threw him slightly when she commented that she was fifteen. Really? She looked older.

She didn't act older, though, so it didn't surprise him all that much. Instead, Ignacio glanced over at Grayson with an oddly fond smile. "Gray, I'd never delete you from my phonebook." Then, he turned the phone (and its pitiful list) to Grayson to point out that, in fact, he was the second number in the contact list. "See?"

After pointing that out, Ignacio closed his flip phone and stuck it back in his pocket, before resuming eating. He then stopped to scratch at his scalp a little bit; admittedly, it would be nice if he had better cleaning supplies than just water. Perhaps, he should pick up some shampoo or something over the weekend, to stop his head from itching. "I forgot what classes I took as a sophomore," commented Ignacio, as random as ever, "but I assume it's all stuff that's repeated anyway. I've determined that after fourth grade, you don't really learn anything new. It's all repeats of what has previously been taught."

Ignacio subconsciously was scooting a little closer to Grayson. He didn't seem to notice. It was only adding to the cheesy Japanese boylove novel appearance, though...
