She felt that trill of excitement soar through her veins as she looked down at herself in the reflection of the pond, long since iced over for winter. She was paw-deep in snow drifts that touched the underside of her tail. Tilting her head, she smiled, trying on something other than her usual smirk.

She had felt this way only once before, when she and Hurricane were awaiting their litter of puppies. Puppies. Again? A mother, again? She was a good one... well. She was a decent one. She bit back a growl as she remembered that b*****d Tornado who had smeared his foul scent all over her lands... He had taken her Squall... Sure, she had given Rumor up, but he had stolen Squall...

But this was her chance to do it again. Do it right. Keep them all close and safe and loved... Her heart panged as she tore away from the lake to look for Dasha. Impatient, she threw her head back and let loose a cry for her boyfriend, her fling, that pretty little piece of male tail who she'd found a fondness for...

A fondness that she'd once felt for Hurricane. There was a small wave of guilt at the thought of carrying someone other than her mate's children, but it was shortlived as she howled again. "Come to me..."

Piper's dark gaze scanned the bushes as she sat down, watching the trees for any sign of movement. The chilly wind carried Dasha's scent towards her and her tail began to wag as he neared. He dropped a rabbit near her feet, but her focus was on him -- eyes locking onto his face, she jumped to her paws, tail held high, as she nuzzled and licked his face. She gave just the right amount of submission to him, even if she was Alphess.

Her lips turned up into a grin. "I've got a surprise..." Her voice was husky, trembling with excitement.

Her tail wagged, flagging high above her back as she eased back into the snow. She wasn't showing -- yet. He wouldn't be able to tell... Not unless he was psychic or something. She smiled at him, turning her face away for a moment before perking her ears. "Have you ever wanted a family, Dasha?" Her head tilted, curiousity gleaming in her brown eyes. She looked at him, expectant.

He was a flirt, a fling, beautiful and hers. For now. But it would depend on his attitude to see if they'd stick together for longer. She'd raised her first litter just fine, with Hurricane's help now and then, but the puppies respected and loved -her-. Their mother. And if Dasha didn't accept the fact that he was going to be a father -- she knew it was his litter, because she'd not slept with anyone else -- it was his loss.

Piper smirked and rose to her paws, beginning to pace around him. "Yeah. I think I am. I'm pretty sure. I feel the same way as...before..." Before. Hurri's litter. One she'd never expected but had accepted -- after they were born and she saw their beauty. She eyed him, looking down her muzzle directly at him. "Do you have a problem with that?"

"Yes. Yes they're yours..." Her voice was sharp, but it softened. "I'm sure..." She almost said "I'm sorry" but she wasn't, not really. She was nervous and excited, but never sorry... Oh, would Abi be tiffed at her; pregnant again, and the thieving girl hadn't found a suitor yet. Yet? In the pack of sin? What was she doing? Not that she cared; she'd never been close to Abital.

She watched him, giving a soft sigh. "No need for formalities, Dasha. I won't get too grumpy." With that, she winked and plucked up the rabbit. "Though..." she added, thoughful. "You might be hunting more and more."

And then the thought struck her. Hurricane. What would Hurricane think? Here she'd gone off, flirting and playing lovey-wolf with another male and hadn't given her mate -- or was it ex-mate now? -- a second thought. "Hurricane..." she all but growled.

Piper's grin was broad. "Hurricane," she agreed, stretching out to lay down and gnawed the flesh of the rabbit, swallowing bites whole as she realized she was hungrier than she thought. After she'd finished, she nosed the bones aside and looked back up at her boyfriend coolly.

"I don't want him hurt..." She still cared for the gimp-along. She loved him...just was no longer -in-love- with him. "I just want to make sure..." That he wouldn't harm the puppies. She didn't think he had it in him. But insanity ran in that family; look at Twist and Tornado. She smiled. "I want to talk with him. Will you accompany me?"

Piper didn't truly believe Hurri was capable of violence; after all, she'd lived with him for years in peace. He was more of a lover than a fighter. Piper nodded swiftly and stood, licking the blood from her muzzle with one smooth lick. "Let's go then, Dasha baby..." she all but purred and started off, tail flagging high above her back as they headed for the dens where she assumed Hurri would be.
