okay, so me and my friend were having a conversation after our 7th hour yesterday because we had been discussing education and careers in that class. Well, we are both in band.
We realized that our band has a wide variety of different professions that people want to go into. I'm planning on being a band director, one of our female trumpets is planning on ebing a large animal surgeon, he is planning on being a photographer, and finally a guy trumpet player is planning on being a professinal musician.
So, I will be conducting the trumpet player while the other is performign surgery on a horse and meanwhile my frien is taking pictures of us. We were laughing so hard when I pointed this out.
So, now I'm curious as to what all you band geeks are planning on ding with your future.

Depends for everyone.
In my school, it seems that nearly all band kids go to James Madison University. Not many major in music, though. They're just part of the marching bands and etc. I know a tuba who wants to be a plastic surgeon, and I personally want to do something science-y myself...

I probably won't major in music, but I will definitely continue my music study in college, either in a concert band or solo performance on piano (which I would prefer).

I would love to be a band director, whether high school or orchestra. I'd definitely would have some back up jobs cause it's a hard career.

I wanted to get in the law career not just becuase of my parents but sometimes I think that's what I really want to do, so a lawyer.
But somehow I'm not gonna let music go away from me. I don't know how, but my dream job is working at a brewary as a lawyer getting payed a lot and being in an orchestra/symphony/ensemble at the same time and having performances once a while.
I think it's coming along! whee

I plan on majoring in Criminal Justice and having a minor in Linguistics. I don't know if I want to join the Secret Service or CIA or something like that or become a translator or maybe a flight attendant. I truly want to be an assassin though. LOL. I'm also going into the Air Force and I might do the band!

I'm a music major and I'm in marching band, but I think if I were to pursue a career in music I would actually be more interested in singing (I'm in choir too). Or maaaaybe a band director or something. We don't have concentrations at my school so I've been taking all kinds of classes.
Random note but our band has very few music majors, probably less than 10%...

Well, sadly, like the TS, I would like to become a music educator.
