(Most of this information about Coldwave was barrowed from THE PULSE DEMON, and for a more thorough explaination of pretty much everything Coldwave and Post-Industrial can be found and/or asked at his thread, here) American Coldwave is Industrial Rock blending elements of Industrial Music, samples pretty much throughout the whole song, Metal, Rock, and/or Punk. It's all made in pretty much a Rock structure, but not always. Overall it is probably the one of the more creative genres around. Pioneers:S.P.K.Thomas LeerStandard Coldwave:Ministry (Albums: "The Land of Rape and Honey", "The Mind is a Terrible Thing to Taste", "Psalm 69") ChemlabCandiruCircle of DustBattery 9Peace, Love, and PitbullsPOST-INDUSTRILULZ! EBM, COLDWAVE, ETC Thread Industrial Rock/Metal cannot exist outside of being Coldwave , bands called Industrial Metal fall into 5 categories: 1. Rock or Metal bands that have little to no electronic, let alone Industrial, elements and just sound different from any of their counterparts, so they are just called Industrial because it's more appealing somehow. 2. Rock or Metal bands with little Industrial or electronic elements, though, not enough to make them Industrial. 3. Rock or Metal bands with medium to heavy Electronic, but NO Industrial elements, in their music. 4. Black, Death, Stoner, Groove, Doom, Drone, etc, Metal bands with little (mostly) or medium Industrial or Electronic elements. It is usually made clear that they are an Industrial (blank) Metal band. 5. A Coldwave band... Other Coldwave Bands:Swamp TerroristsMalhavocExtreme American Coldwave:BilePunctureParticle SonCyanoticGodfleshEBM:EBM is dance music influenced by Industrial music, however, over the years, bands have tended to move away from Industrial sounds. But unlike EBM it strays away from the four-to-the-floor OONCE OONCE OONCE bass. Sure it has that, but not in pretty much every song, like EBM usually has. Aggrotech also often adds guitars into the music, and the vocals are usually very distorted. Aggrotech is also often called Hellectro, terrorEBM, etc. Alien VampiresX-FusionXentrifugeRed Cell Nurzery RhymesPsyclon nineHocicoSuicide CommandoNachtmahrTactical SektSiva SixInfekktionDawn of AshesAmdusciaCenthronViscera DripX-ProtocolDolls of PainAnimassacreHeartwireGod ModuleDie SektorReaXioN GuerrillASay Just WordsExtinction FrontAutoxieExxoZkeletonHydroxieAgonoizeservo.hatredDecoded FeedbackWynardtagePsytrance (Psychedelic trance)Psytrance is a form of electronic music characterized by hypnotic arrangements of synthetic rhythms and complex layered melodies created by high tempo riffs. Psytrance usually is generally faster then most other form of trance with a usual BPM between 140 and 150. Psychedelic trance uses prominent bass beats that pound constantly throughout the song, and overlays the bass with varying rhythms drawn from funk music, techno, electro, Middle Eastern music, and trance using drums and other synthesized instruments. The different leads, rhythms and beats generally change every 32 beats, and layering is used to great effect. Psytrance is usually around 6 to 11 minutes long and reverb is used very heavily. Dark Psytrance is very close to regular Psytrance as well, but often times includes guitar(see the last five tracks). (I'm just going to link to Youtube for Psytrance, seeing as how theres many Psy artists who don't have myspace) BitmonxGappeqTerranoiseAtmosAuricularEskimoHallucinogenAstrix Hux FluxSUN ProjectXenomorph1200 MicrogramsDark Soho Infected Mushroom

Thanks again, Digi.
I've actually come across many of these through my own research, but there's plenty of new stuff in there. EBM and aggrotech are my preferred poisons, but some occasional coldwave is good too, like Chemlab.

You're welcome.
I tried to add the more well known artists and a few lesser know artists just to give people the basic knowledge. I plan on updated the list every so often. I'm slightly biased though, since I mostly only put artists I like up there, but I did put Combichrist and Ayria up, and I don't like them.

I came across this work of Andy's early on, and it almost turned me off EBM completely. So undeservedly popular. I'd sub VNV Nation in for Combichrist, honestly. Well-known enough, and a few notches better.

I don't know too much about it.

Well, don't look at me. xd Honestly, I've listened to VNV and Assemblage 23 back-to-back and I could barely tell the difference. Tells me that I've still got plenty to learn. Also, aggrotech section needs moar Xentrifuge. ICBM is one of the heaviest non-metal songs I've heard.

That Xentrifuge song is actually Powernoise. And Powernoise is WAY more heavier then Metal could ever wish to be. My examples are these: 1 2 3 (live video)

Oh, yeah, you did. I'm just ******** blind, that's the problem. xp
And I'm afraid none of those did anything for me. Way, way too repetitive. I'm all for harsh and mechanical, but "ICBM" doesn't sound like the same few notes repeated for seven minutes, so it therefore wins. Actually, the entire Light Extinguished album has a lot of powernoise elements, now that I think about it.
As for other additions to the list, I'd vote for Necessary Response, Grendel, Aesthetic Perfection, Dioxyde, C/A/T, Apoptygma Berzerk, and Die Sektor.

Awesomesaus. By the way, might wanna correct this little error: xp
If there's anything else I discover, I'll add a link here for you to update the thread with. Of course, that's highly unlikely, but, hey, it's (somewhat) possible.
