User Image Here, in the muddiest parts of the Swamp, was where Webweave stood at that moment in time. Her coat was splattered with mud, but to her, it really didn't matter just then. Just then, it was just another splash of color on her contrastingly vibrant fur. Her tail was calmly swishing back and forth, brushing lightly on the surface of the mud and stalks of sparse grass.

The doe was looking up. Up into the branches of the trees up above. That was where the most activity happened at this time of day. "Oh!" she murmured softly, not out of surprise but out of delight more than anything else. A very pretty little bird had just alighted on the lowest branch of a tree to her right. It's feathers sported many different shades and palettes. If she had been a little more aware, she would have spotted more than just the bird, but it had captured all of her attention and it was all that she could see. She called out to it softly, "Such a pretty bird!" accompanied by a melodic whistle. Perhaps it would even come down and see her!

To the tiny mind of Spasm -the small and quite frankly, insane,- songbird, the world was spinning. It's bright eyes fluttered as his senses registered few things,
One, he was high up at the moment,
Two, there was a Kimeti -not his master mind you,- staring at him
And three, the world had tilted, and the ground was closing in alarmingly.
Thud!
The small bird hit the ground for the sixteenth time tonight, and he knew no more.

THHUUUUD!
The ground shook as another body hit the hard-packed mud. This one was however, no bird. A full grown doe had fallen from the sky.

User Image
Mimic found herself on her back staring at the sky, for the sixteenth time tonight. Now Mimic may need some describing. She was a rather attractive female kimeti, swirls of shining blue scattered themselves across her midnight coat. She was prone to blackouts, and constantly struggled with confused identity. To fill the gaps in her mind, she often imitated other characters. Thus her need to climb the tree her companion had fluttered to, and the need to hurl herself out of it as her clumsy friend fell.

Her eyes fluttered lightly as she quickly regained her senses -one gets used to unconsciousness when one is knocked out as much as Mimic.- Standing slowly on unsteady legs she started processing her surroundings. Her gaze took in the familiar views of the swamp, the mud glistening, the leaves fluttering overhead, the roots of mangrove trees stretched above the water like giant spider-legs. The last thing she noticed was the other doe, one of dazzling colours. This doe looked like the day given life, the sun and sky swirling in a surreal way all on one pelt. Mimic froze, her personality unsettled, her brain waiting for a clue as to who she was.
As was usual for her, she stood, staring blankly at the stranger, almost like a bird waiting for the dawn to cue a song.

User Image "Oh!" the surprised yelp escaped the doe before she could control it. It was not often, not often at all, that anything caught this doe by surprise. But this bird had just... fallen out of a tree! Now what sort of bird would do that? They were supposed to be graceful!

Webweave took a step or two closer to the bird and brought her head down to inspect the poor thing. She nuzzled it gently, trying to see if it was alright or if it had injured itself in it's fall. But she was interrupted by another fall. She turned her head without lifting it and found herself openly staring at a.... kimeti! How in Mother Swamp's name did she.... she stole a glance upward, and there was no doubt about it. This doe had fallen out of the same tree the bird had just been sitting in. Striking her interest, Webweave spoke softly at the obviously dazed doe as she stood up and righted herself, seeing as it was clear the other could not find any words to share. "Hello....? Are... are you alright? Do you know the bird...?" The doe was standing, so she seemed to be alright, if shaken up a bit, but you could never be too careful...

Mimic's head still spun as she gazed incredulously at the entrancing creature before her. The brilliant ball of light she had come to know as the sun had melted and smeared itself along the body of this being. The azure blue sky danced there as well, and beneath glimpses of the deepest midnight shone through. There could only be one answer for a Kimeti this celestial. She must be the sky goddess! Come to Earth to manifest in a tangible body!
Mimic had no idea what to do, for she had never met a Goddess before. Although long ago, there was a buck who thought himself a God, and looked almost like this being... That memory confused poor mimic so she shook it away.
With her limited knowledge of deities Mimic decided to explain herself, in the most respectful manner she could, of course.
O great Queen of the sky! You beauty is unparalleled by us mortals that reside so far below you. I am fine, I was merely...
Mimic could not remember why she had gone up the tree, but after a few moments of silence her brain thought up an explanation she immediately took as truth.
Well you see.. this poor bird is sick, very much so. I decided to help it, seeing as he is a creature of your domain. While up in the tree the sickness overcame him, and he fell to the ground. With my... need to help him I followed, in the quickest manner I could think of.
Mimic stopped talking believing this to be a suitable explanation, and hoping that the Goddess did not have a punishment in mind for her.

Now if you had been paying attention you would know that all of what Mimic had just divulged was utter nonsense. She was in the tree because it was her manner to follow the lead of others, and Spasm had fallen merely because he was a klutz.

User Image Webweave watched the doe scramble up onto her feet and reply to her questions in something obviously similar to a daze. But when this dark doe began to speak, Webweave could not believe what she was hearing!

This doe thought that she was Goddess of the Sky! Now... why would she think that? Webweave looked down at her own coat, and saw that there was a possibility of mistaking it for a streaked painting of the sky and it's illustrious colors, so she didn't interject, and merely listened to the rest of the other doe's words. She had said the bird was ill, and Webweave could at least believe that, for he had still not stirred from the place he had fallen to.

Before replying to the doe, Webweave nuzzled the bird, turning it over into a position where it could easily right itself, should it be able to. Satisfied it should be able to stand, she turned back towards the other doe and spoke, "I must admire your efforts to save this poor soul, then, Darkest of Does. It doesn't look like he has broken anything in the fall, though his feathers are thoroughly ruffled. Such a brilliant creature of flight should never be able to come to harm, they should ever be gliding effortlessly through the air." With a nod of the head, she turned the conversation just the slightest touch, "But do you have a name, noble kimeti?"

This Goddess did not appear angry, on the contrary she seemed pleased by Mimic's attempts to help, regardless that she had failed. Mimic's relief was overwhelming for the whole time her mind had been spinning, imagining all the divine punishments this creature could conjure.
Her mind still spun however, wondering how to keep this being entertained. Perhaps if she helped or amused her there would be reward? Mimic's mind wandered thinking of all the wonderful and mysterious talents or powers she could be gifted with.
I have always wanted to fly...
O, Divine and mysterious ruler of the sky, to have you know my name would be such an overwhelming honor that I gladly release it, I am Mimic. This dazzling creature of the air is named Spasm, and I am sure that if he were conscious he would be showering you with praise.
Mimic was laying it on a little thick but she could only hope that she was coming across as awe-inspired that she felt.

At that very moment Spasm began to stir. His eyes fluttered open, and he was also confused by the swirling sky above him. He however has more sense than his master and soon realized that it was not the sky, but a regular Kimeti above him. He decided that his unfortunate tumble was this creature's fault and did as he thought natural, he attacked.
Shrieking like he was mad Spasm launched himself and the newcomer, wings battering her face as he aimed his sharp beak at her soft eye.

User Image Mimic, she said her name was. Curious.... She looked at the doe a little closer as she spoke more heavy compliments and so forth with the growing suspicion that this doe had not jumped out of the tree after the ill bird, but in fact had jumped out, in a fashion closely relating to her name.... Mother Swamp knows, after all, and often has the cruel sense of humor to name kimeti to give their nature away before they even establish an impression.

"It is nice to meet you, fearless-kimeti, Mimic. And I'm sure it's my pleasure to also meet your dearest little flight-creature-" The doe's sentence was cut off as the bird stirred and came to life in a sudden fury and pelted her with attacks, contrasting her very words. Webweave yelped and stumbled backwards, tripped on a root and landed square on her a**. She quickly folded her forelegs and lay down, closing her eyes tight and trying to bury her face under them and away from the blasted devil-bird that was trying to scratch out her eyes.

Mimic has horrified by her companions actions.
SPASM! Stop that this instant! Do you have any idea what she could do to us??
Mimic sprung mightily through the air.
Almost like flying.. Her twisted little mind noted in amusement.
Her leap was accurate and the little bird was trapped between her forelegs. They hit the ground with a mighty crash and Mimic immediately began scolding.
What have you done!? I have no desire to be zapped by lightening! Or turned into a mosquito. You stupid little bird you have doomed us...
Mid-sentence Mimic realized that her time might be better spent appealing to the Goddess, rather than berating her idiotic bird. She stood, and with a few quick steps threw herself to the ground before the Goddess. She pressed her head into the ground and began to grovel.
My Goddess! I am so sorry for Spasm's actions! Her mind raced, searching for a suitable explanation. The fall, combined with the sickness must have driven him mad. He must be... rabid.. perhaps we should seek to cure him. Yes, cure him! That is a much better use of your time, even better than say.. summoning your mighty wrath to destroy some obnoxious creatures. Mimic abruptly stopped talking, terrified that the Goddess would be inspired by her worlds and kill her.

User Image Webweave continued to flail and try to bury her face away from the tearing claws of the infuriated little avian until she felt a woosh of air flow over her and peeked out to see what had happened. Her one opened eye darted over to see Mimic on the ground, holding the stupid bird and scolding it for it's attack.

Webweave calmed herself by breathing deeply and straightening up. She licked her muzzle to clean the small cuts left behind by the bird and then looked down to see Mimic throw herself at her feet and begin to grovel. She waited for her to finish apologizing and rambling before she replied angrily, "I should summon the darkest clouds to follow you about for the rest of your lives and forbid the bird from ever taking flight again! It should be no more sky-flight for him, and horrible darkness flooding your every day to have all the shadows envelop and infest with grim thoughts. Neither of you should ever see the bright globe that is our golden Sun or her sister, the silvery Moon, whom bathes us in white light in the darkest of hours!"

Mimic's body shuddered with fright as the Goddess listed the horrible things she was going to do to her. Her face was pressed hard against the ground, eyes shut so tightly it almost hurt. She tried to imagine her days without the golden radiance of the sun, without the silvery curtain of the moon. This was too horrible for her to fixate on, but she could not stop.
She saw herself growing dark and twisted, driven completely mad by her need for light. Visions of her terrorizing the swamps as a dirty, twisted creature filled her. Her usually scattered and unfocused mind had no problem looking into this future, and she did not like what she could see.
Please Goddess, I know Spasm has acted badly. He is not well. There are no words to express the sorrow I feel over your injuries, and I would plead for eternity if I had so long. We both do deserve these punishments for our trespasses. But... are you not a merciful Goddess? To forgive is divine.
Mimic muttered the last bit and knew it was a long shot. Her voice had turned high-pitched in question and anxiety.
Spasm still hated this stranger, but he did not want to anger his master again. He alighted to the nearest tree, staring down from above.

User Image Webweave straightened up, almost puffing up a bit, boiling with anger from the inside out. Was it getting hotter out or was it just her? She could swear it had just gotten a few degrees warmer.... perhaps it was just the fury acting up and fiddling with her temperature. She waited for the other doe to stop rambling and replied once more, "I should turn you both into twisted flightless creatures tinier than an ant, never again knowing warmth or happiness, never being recognized for who you are." She deflated a little at this point, still angry but in a considerably softer tone she finished with, "But I am merciful, and will release you today with a warning: Act like this again, and I will not be so kind. I see and remember everything, so bear this in mind when the urge to attack overcomes you again." This latter bit was specifically aimed at the bird, accompanied with a glare hateful enough that it could almost inflict a physical pain.

Mimic's back muscles began to loosen of the Goddess continued speaking. Slowly, very slowly, she began to raise her head. The cruel lines of the Goddess' face slowly began to relax, morphing into a look more like forgiveness, though fire still burnt in her eyes.
Mimic took a moment, once more letting her eyes take in the wonder of the other doe. Her eyes chased the swirling yellow and traced the blue before settling onto the midnight black, so similar to her own. Come to think of it the blue was similar to her shade as well, the hypnotic swirls reminiscent of the patterns on her own shoulders. Mimic mind whirled, wondering how any of this could be possible.
She pressed this thought process to the back of her mind as she spied some lovely blue flowers. She merrily trotted over, and gently plucked one from it's stem. She walked back to the Goddess and gently placed the flower at her feet.
A token, of our good-will and intentions. We are both sorry for our behavior. What is next for you, beloved Goddess? Where will you go?

User Image An offering! That was more like it! Though it was just a simple flower from right over there, one that Webweave could have picked herself, it was the thought that counted, was it not?

Before moving from her spot, however, the yellow doe looked around until she spotted the bird, still perched in a tree. Figuring it was a safe distance away, she bent down to the flower, propped it up with a hoof and then pushed her head towards it at an angle to slide the flower behind her ear. Bringing her head back up she surveyed the area anew, calmed now from the sudden attack and replied with the hint of a cautious smile, "Thank you, dear kimeti, I accept your many apologies and hope you have both learned from your mistakes. As for where I am going now... I go where the Swamp guides me. For now it has not shown me any precise signs... merely a direction I must follow. And this is where I go now. I follow these callings and signs until I arrive at the place where Mother Swamp demands I be."

Mimic nodded, humbled by the Goddesses wisdom. She did not want this other doe to go, she was so clever, so pretty, so merciful.
Mimic wanted nothing more then to follow her to the ends of the Earth. Her mind reeled as she realized she could follow this doe, she just didn't have to do it with he permission.
The other doe slowly wandered away, and as she did, Mimic melted into the shadows behind her, vowing that she would never be alone again.
