A cloud of fog rose into the air. Another fallowed right after. What was this mysterious fog? It was Szads breath. "Cold...." he said in a distant voice. His mind was wandering, searching his thoughts and just swimming in glee. He could not remember a time when he had felt like this, so...so light. The burden of his lost memories no longer a lead weight on his kind heart. Now he felt so free. Like someone had broken the chains. It was lorcan. Untimely it was Lorcan, he knew. But not only that chestnut. It was everyone. All the mustangs and creatures and two-leggers he had met in these different lands. He had only arrived here on this soil in very late summer. Fall had taken its course and now...Now he was here. And he felt so different. SO new. Like he was experiencing life to its fullest for the first time. He was so grateful to everyone. They were the ones that had chiseled away his chains. His prison. They had set him free, and they were the ones that allowed him to experience one of life's true joys; friendship.
Szad looked up at the light grey sky that glowed gently down onto the earth. He smiled, and whispered to the winds. "Thank you...everyone...." He continued to smile. His eyes gentle and full of happiness. His heart swelled and proudly beating. his lungs inhaling the crisp air. And his eyes gazing at the first snow fall. It came down like angles. It was so light, so beautiful. Szad gazed at it in awe. Snow. Beautiful snow. It landed in his mane, his tail, his feathering, and all along his body. And there he sat, staring up at the sky and its beautiful ballet of flakes. He slowly became a white snow prince. As white as a dove's wing.

Hopping about in the snow, much like a rabbit, Ashia moved quickly, eyes looking around, intent. Her ears were perked and she was scanning for a cry, or small body. Even an indent would have caught her notice. But nothing. Instead of pulling her down, the mare's heart warmed. There was no harmed foal in sight. It had been a while since she'd seen one. This winter was turning out to be much better then past. Ah but. She stopped, shaking the snow off her warm and deep colored coat and accessories. She had yet to find a foal in need, but she had also yet to see eyes on the other thing she was looking for. Or rather, the other horse. Her savior, and darling stallion. It had been a long time since she had seen him and it hurt her heart to think about him, but think she did. She sighed softly, the name slipping from her lips. "Archelaus..." She shook her head and looked up, eyes taking in the area, still searching.
Her body froze. A familiar form shone against the background. White. Snow drenched mane and tail. It seemed he hadn't spotted her yet. Her body shook and suddenly she was bounding across the snow. "Archelaus! Archelaus!" She shouted as she rushed to him. She stopped herself just in time and set about nuzzling his neck, her entire body screaming happiness. She should have realized something was off, but her mind closed down the moment the form registered in her brain. "Oh Archelaus I've been looking everywhere for you!" She said, sighing with happiness.

watching the gentle snow fall its way to the ground, where it piled was memorizing. The sound and crunch of the snow as Szad played with it in his sitting position. He had his front hooves placed on a large pile and he was gently pressing one hoof in the snow, then lifting, then pressing again. The sound was calming. He wanted to hear what it would sound like if he were to walk in it. So he used his other hoof as well. Winter wonder land. All sound and time muffled by the white blanket of fluff. His head was still gazing up into the sky that emitted the flakes. he closed his eyes. Smile stoned into his face. And he listened with all his heart. To the sound of it piling, of his hooves pressing against it, of his own heart beat. Magnificent Orchestra of Angelic Silence.
He was so engrossed in this wonderland world that had fallen before him that he did not even realize that there was someone else approaching. He just ignored it and thought it to be his own hooves doing. Wrong. And he knew it right away once a mare began nuzzling right up to him and cheering a strange name. His eyes shot open, his hear threatened to burst, and he shot up in standing position. He looked down on the horribly friendly creature. It was a young mare. Adorn in beautiful decorations. Festive ornaments. Like a tree the two-leggers decorate. She seemed just glowing and radiating happiness. But who was... "Archelaus...?" He forced himself to ask. his voice gentle. He didn't want to disappointing the excited mare too much...Who was it she was looking for?

Ashia's face jerked up and she backed away as she realized the mistake she had made. This was not her long lost stallion. Her mind hurried to catch up, taking note of all the differences. No warm bear pelt. No rope. And no evergreen branch. This wasn't him. Her head sunk fast, almost crippling her. "I... Am so sorry." She spoke softly, her voice shaking with the emotion that had been swimming through her, and the new emotion that was just emerging. "Oh my goodness, please forgive me, I mistook you for another!" Her voice was louder now, and clearly embarrassed. She bowed her head, trying to calm herself. "I apologize." She said softly. "You...are not him..." He wasn't the brilliant white. He was covered in snow. But he was so close, she could see, even without it, she'd likely have made the mistake anyhow.
"I apologize again." When would she stop apologizing. The more mare was distraught and terribly embarrassed, not to mention worried. If he was a mean stallion...she'd be in big trouble. "I...I am Ashia..." She spoke softly, trying to salvage the situation.

Szad watched as the happy bubbly excited mare suddenly began to deteriorate into a distressed, apologizing mess. He became very concerned. Who was the one she had spoken of? Had Szad resembled him in some way? Szad lowered his neck to look at her closely. She was young, and spirited and quite beautiful. He tried to give her an encouraging little smile, though his eyes were worried. He wanted to comfort her and learn her story. Even with his horrible tendicy to run due to shyness, when someone was in need, in distress, he always came out of shell and forgot himself. And usually tried to do his best and anything he could do to make the other smile. "It i-s-s alright...D-don't b-be sorry." He lowered himself so that he was facing her.
"W-whats wrong...Who were y-you lo-ooking for m-miss?" He said in a gentle tone, his eyes warm and kind, his smile set. "P-perhaps I I have s-seen them..."

The little mare relaxed a bit. He wasn't a mean one, it seemed. She was safe. "I really am sorry... you just look so much like him... and with the snow, I didn't stop to think..." She shook her head to stop herself before she went off rambling. "I was...well... You see I'm looking for my mentor. He disappeared a while ago and I haven't seen him since. You just...he's large and white and I mistook you for him. But I can see you are not him. I hope I didn't frighten you. Oh how rude of me, I really shouldn't have... I..." She stumbled a bit, it sinking in how awkward it had to have been for the other.
"That was so rude of me." She said again, shaking her head. "Anyway, As I said, I am Ashia, and you are?" She looked at him, blinking. He seemed vary kind. Mentally she sighed softly. Even his eyes looked like him! It made her heart hurt. But this wasn't the time to think about it. No sir, buck up Ashia, she kicked herself mentally. She had to pay attention. This wasn't him, this was a new friend.

Szad smiled, seeing how she relaxed and calmed herself down. "It is a-alright...i was a b-bit frighten-ed..but, it is r-really fine." He giggled, after all, he was who he was, and when a mare suddenly pounces on you and smothers you, i can make your heart skip a beat.
His ears jerked up, only now, hearing her name. "A-Ashia? v-very pretty...i am Sz-Szad...nice t-to meet you!" He smiled, but looked at her, still concerned. "Why d-did he leave...? M-mentors are n-not suppose t-to d-do that..." The idea of a teacher, a guide jogged something in the back of his mind. Suddenly the young mare before him was replaced with an old gray mare with thick, black mane flowing down her shoulder. She was much taller than him, and he could not see most of her face. her mouth opened, ready to speak. Then it all vanished and Ashia was once again where she had been. He clenched his teeth, his stomach suddenly flipping. He took a step back and took a breath. Not again...

"Its nice to meet you as well, Szad." She smiled softly. "Oh, I...I don't know. I think, I hope, He just went to retire. He wasn't one for talking much, and He was no longer needed when he left, because I took over the job he had." Ashia thought back. Yes, he wasn't really needed. "But, well... I just hope I can find him one day. To know why he left. Its so sad not knowing." She sighed. It was more then sad! It was depressing. But she couldn't let herself drop into that.
Her green eyes blinked as she noticed something came over the stallion Szad. Like...he thought of something. Something unpleasant. Her mental alarm system went off. "Szad? Are you ok?" She asked quickly, looking him over for physical wounds, though she was certain there was none. It was just a natural reaction, though. Nope, nothing physical. She waited for his response.

Szad blinked, the image of the mare standing over him in the dark engraved in the back of his eyes lids. A shiver ran down his spine. Who was she? And why now, after nearly a full moon, was he having flashes of his past? he had decided to move on. His past no longer concerned him, he had a new life now. He shook his head, trying to put it in the back of his mind.
He opened his eyes to see the mare staring at him with concerned eyes. He blushed and stuttered, "I-I-Immm f-fine..." He tried to smile or laugh, but it just came out as a nervous hiccup. "I j-just re-remembered s-something...thats a-all."
He began to chew over what she had said before the sudden vision. "I hope you f-find him....L-losing so-some one without k-knowing why c-can be hard..." To him, he had just said it to be comforting, he did not have any such experiences, but...somewhere, it felt familiar....losing someone without reason...and how painful not knowing why is...Szad clentched his teeth. Not now. Forget it all already.

Ashia's eyes stayed troubled as she looked upon him. His words didn't convince the little mare. He was hurting, somehow, some way. She stepped forward and lightly touched his neck in a comforting gesture. "Its ok. Don't fight the memories. It only hurts more." She said softly. She knew that from experience. Trying to not remember the large white stallion... hurt worse then remembering him. "The heart has a funny way or hurting us if we ignore those memories that it wishes us to remember." She spoke again. She took a step back once more. "And yes... I wish I will find him as well. Its vary hard. Not knowing. The memories are nice, even with the pain they bring. And I am still able to continue my work, he would be proud, happy, if he were here, if he knew I was ok, and still doing all he taught me. It helps." She smiled softly at him. Such a kind stallion. Perhaps he would let her help him.

Szad listened to her words, his eyes slightly glazed, but he absorbed it all. He was deep in thought. His heart wanted him to remember? But why would it want him to remember...to relive such frightening flashes of his past? What was their meaning...The dark stallion that he so often used to see towering over him, and now this mare. Who were they? What were these feelings he had towards them? Szad looked into the young mares eyes, now his face no longer hidden behind a mask, now it showed his pain, his confusion. This mare's words were so different from the ones he had heard before. Those words had made him feel as though these memories were irrelevant and never really had much of a meaning; so they were best to be left forgotten. But now this mare was telling him that the memories were striving to be remembered, that they had a purpose and a meaning.
Szad closed his eyes for only the time of a heart beat. In his mind he chewed everything over and tried to find a solution. What was he going to do now? Who had been right? Both of them? And what was he going to do about these memories? Once he had opened his eyes, he looked right at the mare. His blue eyes clear, but still pained. "I think i know what needs to be done..."

Ashia instantly felt horrible as he looked at her with such pained eyes. There was much troubling this stallion, she could tell now. Much that she hadn't first anticipated when she spoke. "you've had a troubled past..." She said softly. "Haven't you?" She looked at him, watching him as the little clock works ticked away in his head. Perhaps she shouldn't have spoken. But it was true, it hurt more to ignore memories then to let them run their course. But perhaps he had to many memories. If he'd been tucking them away for a long while the poor stallion must be over whelmed!
When he focused on her again she perked up, ready to offer any help, answer any questions, and say anything that needed to be said. However the pain in his eyes hit her and she almost started crying. Like when she would find a foal who was lost and yearning for their mother.
"Then..." She spoke softly. "You must do it." She nodded. "Your one of many troubles, I can tell. I hope you can find the answer to them."

The mare's words of encouragement to take action made him smile. His eyes sparkle and soften. Maybe, if he had support like her's, from his other friends,he would make it through. And solve this puzzle... Szad blinked, almost as if an afterthought, he realized just what friends were. He looked at the mare, then at the ground. Friends were...friends were...family. He never knew the meaning of the word, it never held anything for him...until now. His acute ears flicked towards Ashia as she finished her statement. It made him look up again. "Troubles....?" He blushed, almost ashamed. As though it was a big secret he had been trying to hide. " Yes...I...I...think...." His gaze returned to the ground. "I don't remember..." When he looked back at the small mare, his eyes were smiling, just as his face way. A soft, innocent, pure smile. "thank you....Thank you f-for...your h-help. And..and...I hope y-you find y-your friend too...too...." he stood up, facing the horizon,. He had to leave. He would take on this obstacle by himself. And over come it..."Im glad to have met you m-miss." And with that he looked back at her, beamed and turned to walk off. Knowing his destination now. For the first time, knowing which way he was going.
