Wacheza was looking for his mate. It felt like they had been together forever, and okay, they pretty much had. But still, it seemed weird to be wandering around inside the pride instead of wandering off by himself, or going to see if someone needed a healer's touch, but now he had someone to come home to every night. And that was something really special. Plus, Akai liked living in a den that was usually full of butterflies. It made things... special. Plus, they made up like half the decoration.

So, he wandered towards home, smiling happily as his little friends nested in his mane, "Akai? Are you home?" She might be out, he wasn't sure. But that was just as pleasent, really. It meant she was out doing her job, or maybe making some new friends! There was plenty to do around the ocean, and there weren't any storms on the horizen, so he had no doubt that she was alright.

But if she was home... well, he'd like to see her. He would eventually anyway... and then if she got back after him then he would be able to surprise her instead! That would be nice.

"What do you think?" He asked a butterfly that came to sit on his nose, "Is she home?"

Akai had been dozing, not quite a real nap, but the day had been a lazy one, and the lull of hearing the ocean's waves had pushed her into a more lethargic day than she had meant it to be. She wanted to make sure that the save was neat for whenever Wacheza came home (not that there was much to do, but it kept her busy!). Playing with the butterflies had only been too enjoyable, but she had tired out a little early today. It was just a lazy day for her.

"Wacheza?" she gasped, a smile growing on her face as she popped her head out to see her mate. She could still feel her insides flip a bit at just the idea that this was her home, and he didn't have to go looking for her every day when they met along the borders.

"Welcome home!" she chirped, bounding out to give him a quick little nuzzle. "It seems the butterflies wouldn't hide anything from you anyway," she said with a wink. It was always nice to never quite be alone, no matter where she was or what she was doing, at least one butterfly would follow her. Not too many yet, but she still felt quite special for even attracting a couple to follow her around a bit.

Wacheza smiled, nuzzling her back as soon as he saw her. The butterflies swarmed their new companions, always glad to attach themselves to their friends. They were splitting up more and more these days, some going with him while others would flit off to stay with Akai instead. He was glad that she would always have some of them with her, and if she ever got in trouble or he did, then their messangers could let them know. After all, friends did tend to help out even their biggest allies, right?

"How was your day? Do anything interesting?" He asked, tilting his head and taking a seat. He hoped she wasn't bored. He didn't know much about what it was like joining a new pride, since he had lived there all his life, but he hoped that Akai wasn't having any trouble. He'd hate to think that things were difficult for her...

But then again, everyone was so nice there! Wacheza was sure that anyone who met Akai was bound to love her. Maybe he could bring her to meet his mother and father... or even his brothers! Maybe if his sisters ever came back home, they could all be friends. Yes, he'd love that. They had all had so much fun back when he was a little cub... but most had gone their seperate ways.

Akai smiled. She loved the butterflies as they fluttered around the two of them. She always felt just a bit more pretty with them around. They seemed to add on just a bit more to her life, and she loved it. All because of Wacheza.

"It was a pretty calm day," she replied, bobbing her head. "I wandered towards the sea's edge to see what it might have to offer today, but I didn't find much. Hopefully I can find something special soon...." She really wanted to find something special to give to Wacheza, even just a silly little trinket. If she had her way, she might fill up their cave with all the strange things that the ocean offered her shores at times. Akai had always been attracted to shells and strange things, and so when she wasn't too busy in the morning she adored walking along the shore and just looking at what there was.

"I'm enjoying everything a lot so far," she reassured him, knowing that he might worry a bit. It was a different life for her, but she was adjusting and embracing it. "I don't think my feelings for this life will ever change," she said with a small, shy smile.

"I hope it doesn't. I love my life here with you." Waxheza promised her, reaching out and touching her paw with his, glad that she felt the same way he did. He honestly didn't know what he would do without her. It seemed like life had just become complete once he told her he loved her and she felt the same way. This, he was certain, was the way life was meant to be. With no distractions or bad things in it, just the two of them happy as could be.

"Oh, I found something I wanted to give you." He smiled suddenly, going back to the mouth of the den before coming back. What he had found was a rather shiny looking rock he had found along the sea shore. He was fairly certain, though not positive, that it was a little creature who had died... and somehow wound up in the rock, but it had split in half, and now he could see the outline of the little creature and its shell inside the rock. When he had seen it, he had thought perhaps she might like it... and he wanted to give her a gift. Something that would truly welcome her to the pride, once and for all.

"I uh... hope you like it." He mentioned, blushing a little and stepping back. He really did... maybe it was too ugly? The stone wasn't special but the little outline of the creature was pretty interesting... but maybe she wanted something prettier like a shell or a piece of glass... Oh dear.

Akai wasn't too sure what to think of at first. She eyed it carefully, giving it a little poke or too. "Ohh," she breathed, but kept her attention still on the stone. Never had she seen anything like it. Perhaps the shell's shape looked mildly familiar, but the object itself was unique.

"It's so neat," she replied, giving it another little poke, watching how what light entered their cave reflected off of it.

"Where did you find it?" she asekd, curious. "I really like it, Wacheza." She smiled, pleased. It wasn't something that she could wear, but it was something that she could keep within their cave, something to remind her of him when he was out and about.

"I really do," she smiled again, more brightly this time.

Wacheza's face brightened quite a bit. Oh good, she liked it! Maybe next time though, he'd find her something pretty that she could wear instead of something that just looked neat... but then, he had always thought that Akai liked these little things better. He nudged it a little, trying to show her the little fossil trapped inside.

"You can see in here... I think something got stuck in the rock once. You see here? It might have been a fish... I think." He mentioned, chuckling a little, as he was quite proud of the little discovery really. You didn't see them around very often! Still, it was a nice little surprise.

"I found it around the shore. You know, where the sand meets the grass, near the cliffs? It was stuck in the rocks there... I kind of slipped and knocked it over. I thought it was something you might like... because you know, it's more than what it looks like."

He hoped that she knew what he meant. So often his mother or his father would stare at him when he tried to explain something like this. They didn't always... get it. But Akai usually understood and thought of something more interesting than he had. It was part of why he liked being around her.

She listened very intently, still curious on how something like this happened. It was obvious that something had been inside it...or something like inside the stone. It was something to puzzle over when she had little else to do during the day, and she was looking forward to those lazy afternoons.

"Wow, that's neat!" Maybe there were lots of other treasures there? The ocean always brought surprises, and perhaps when the tide grew heavy and overtook the beach was when it offered it's best surprises. "We can spend a long time looking at it, maybe trying to figure out exactly what it is and what it could mean..."

Oh! She had a sudden thought. "You didn't hurt yourself when you slipped, though, right?" she asked with a smile and a nuzzle. Rock could be sharp if you weren't careful!

Wacheza smiled, relieved that she liked the fossil as much as he did. He was always happy when they had these funny little things in common, and in many ways that was a relief. Some people just didn't like the weird but cool little things that one could find. They tended to be distracted by shiny things, while he liked to observe the other, sometimes dingier things. Which was not true in the case of Akai, but most other things. Akai was both pretty, and special.

"I'd love to! We can find out exactly what it is if we put our heads together." Wacheza said happily, planting himself down beside her to look down at their new science project. He wondered what it really was, or how it had become that way... all very odd.

He blinked though, when she asked if he'd hurt himself, "Me...? Oh no. Maybe a little bruise or two, but nothing serious, I promise." He told her findly, nuzzling her, "It's what happens when I go in places with... well, uneven ground."

Hmmm. She believed him, really! She just hoped that he wouldn't get too silly trying to find things. Still...it was kind of neat, and it would give them something to do. Akai had never felt really smart, but she figured if they tried hard enough, they'd get somewhere with their new little puzzle mystery.

She plopped herself down, pushing and nudging the rock as it reclined against one of the walls of their den. She sun let plenty of light in, and it still dazzled her.

"I think this might take a while to understand," she said with a small sigh, but giggled a moment after. "But once we do, we'll have to find another object to figure out!"

Wacheza hoped that Akai wouldn't be worried too much about him. It tended to be her nature at times to lean towards such things. And he didn't want her to worry herself to death over him, no, that simply wouldn't do at all. He'd hate it if anything awful were to ever happen to Akai because she was worried about him doing something stupid. After all, sometimes he just got so distracted with the thinking, and staring off into space, contemplating the universe... he had learned young not to do so near the tide.

Still, he liked that his gift had gotten the reaction he had hoped for. He couldn't help but reach out and brush her short mane, which he'd always found funny about females, why didn't they have manes like males anyway?-out of her eyes a little.

"I'm glad that you like it. It's something we can both do together... I love it when we find things like that." He grinned, glad that she felt the same way he did.

"Heyyy," she protested a little at the ruffle, but still returned a smile to him. She leaned forward to give him a little nuzzle. How did she get so lucky, anyways? It had to be something like fate.

"Next time we should look together," she suggested. It would be nice to go out together again, as it seemed that sometimes things would keep them busy. She loved being here, but she also really enjoyed being with Wacheza, too. So many things pulled her in different directions. Spending a day with him would be like a litte mini-vacation, just the two of them...and some of the butterflies.

"Well just have to go on a bright day," she clarified. "I'm still....not totally used to the storms yet," she added on, flushing a little. If she could ever get over them, she sure hoped she would. It was a little embarrassing sometimes, but she was still thankful he was always there for her!

Wacheza grinned, looking thoughtful for a moment, "Well, I think that it may be bright outside tomorrow, or that's how the sunset looked... if it's nice and bright outside, how about we go then?" He asked, rather liking that idea. It would be fun, wouldn't it? They hadn't gone out together in quite a while.

"It is alright to not like storms Akai." He promised her fondly. He knew she was still jumpy around them, though she was getting much better. It was good to be a little wary of storms, after all bad things could happen in them, but he wanted her to feel safe. Their pride was a happy one, and he wanted what was best for her to feel safe.

All he had ever wanted was to keep her safe.

"We'll go out, on a nice bright sunny day, and we can play in the water and maybe look for some shells. Maybe we'll even find another one of... these rock things." He wondered what a good name for the fossil was. He'd never seen one before, but maybe they'd get lucky.
PostPosted: Thu Apr 22, 2010 12:55 pm

Akai bobbed her head brightly. As long as she wasn't alone, everything was easier to cope with, even storms. She smiled. "Yes, I think tomorrow would be perfect. I don't think there's anything really planned." And it was usually quiet, as the pride was itself, but sometimes things came up, as they always did. And when they did, Akai was always willing to help with whatever she could.

She curled up on the floor, adjusting herself until she found a comfortable position. It wasn't really late yet, but again, the lazy day had made her lethargic, and the initial joy of seeing Wacheza had faded into a content lull.

"You're home for the rest of the day?" she asked, hopeful.

Wacheza smiled, lying down beside her and snuggling up close, "Yes, I'm home for the rest of the day. The pride is pretty good about not accidently getting hurt these days, so I'm not needed very often."

Which did relieve him. Every now and then someone would get a scrape or a bruise, or maybe get sick, but he luckily hadn't had to deal with major injuries for quite some time. Though if someone did get hurt, they knew where to find him.

"I'm just glad to get to spend some time with you." He smiled, nuzzling her a little bit, "This is my favorite part of the day... when we have nothing else to do but sit around together." Which was odd. As a cub he'd been very solitary, though he'd always loved meeting new people. It was just that now he had someone to talk with about... well, everything.
