It was early afternoon, the sun almost at its highest. The warmth would’ve been imbearable if it werent for the coolness of the shade and the water hole in the distance. Everything seemed vibrant today. The way the trees swayed in the wind, the color of the leaves were bright green…the blue sky even seemed to pop. The birds chirping was more clear and louder. It was as if her senses were enhanced. Necalis golden eyes watched in wondor…she hadn’t remembered the last time everything was so clear. She got to her legs lazily before moving towards the watering hole which was infested with other creatures. This paticular watering hole was connected with a river and she had spotted a few lost crocodiles in it yesterday so she made it in her best interest to be careful.
Her ears flicked forwad as she didn’t spot any other lions…they just seemed to be trouble. The sarcastic female liked keeping to herself for now. So far companions weren’t working out and neither were prides so she was trailing alone for the time being and so far it was working out.

It had been a relaxing morning, waking up to the curping of birds and yawns of all creatures in the pridelands. Yorath was pleased on how well the day appeared to be, the warmth of the sun on his fur made him stretch and let out a yawning roar in sleepy comfort.
He was used to being alone, having not met his mother or father when he was younger but being told by friends of other species that it had been a hunting trip gone wrong. Yorath had taken his loss hard as any young cub would but with the help of his friends he became stronger each day.
He shook off those depressing thoughts and began making his way to the river to catch some fish, bathe, and to lay in the sun.

It had been sometime since Rinji had last seen his father last and for some reason, like an inner feeling, he felt now was a good time as any to catch up to see how he was doing. He was a seer afterall, it was better to listen to instinct and roll with the punches. That in mind he got up from his current home--the one located near his mother-- and wandered out of the springs towards an area he knew his father visited mostly within the rogue lands.
Shuffling his paw among the grass and wet areas Rinji thought about what direction is life was going. So far it had been pretty great and he wanted it to continue if he could in the same path. But life didn't always work out like that. Maybe his father would have some female advice or anything to get him out of this semi-lonely rut. He always did like spending time with his dad wheither it was for rough housing or just general talking.

A sound broke him from his thoughts and he moved his head in the direction of the noise. A smile broke his once unsmiling face. "Son," The pride and quiet love was whoven into his voice. "I have missed you as well as all of my other children. Come sit you here and tell me what is new in your world." He moved his paw and patted the ground. Oh how his son had grown, had all his children had grown. It seemed like only yesterday they had been crawling around all over him and getting into mischief as most young cubs did. Eyeing Rinji he almost looked like himself the same silver but also a mixture of his mother, his goddess.
"My boy." As soon as his son came near Yorath pulled him in to give a noogie and chuckled at the squwack in return. "So what brings you here to your dear old dad?"

Humming a tune under his breath Rinji walked along the grassy path hoping his father would be around to talk. Ah speak and he shall appear. A smile spread across his face as he saw his father sitting alone looking pensive. Rinji frowned a moment as he didn't like the idea of his father being alone and he was just about to open his mouth when a sound below his feet announced his arrival. He watched in amusement as his father whirled his head around and answered his smile with one of his own. He wandered closer when his father gestured for him to sit. "Hullo da-aack!" He was pulled into a sudden noogie.
Dazed for a moment Rinji sat down in silence before shaking himself to answer his fathers question. "Nothing much new with me... I was thinking of heading towards the... pridelands." He peeked under his mane to see his fathers reaction. "It's just--I don't think rogue life suits me well. It's kinda one verses all you know?"

As Yorath sat he listened to his son and detected a certain tone in his voice, it was the same one he got many moons ago before he and Val got together. "Well, Rinji there is a time and place for things to happen when you least expect them too." He pulled his son into him once again for an arm hug. When the word 'pridelands' came out of Rinji's mouth he was a bit shocked but not surprised. Rinji was always one for pride life. Rogue lands were always a thing he didn't get. " Well... if that is what you want I can't really stop you nor would I want too son." He nuzzled in an attempt to comfort. "But whatever you do decide I just want you to know that I support that and I will be here when you do need me. Heck, I do understand the benefits of pride life outways the cons." He gave a grin before standing up.
"Oh, these old bones." He spoke half kidding, half not. "Come on let's go rustle us up something to eat."

As his father mentioned food he found his stomach answering at the idea of getting it. "Alright sounds good kinda like old times." Rinji beamed at Yorath before standing as well. The sound of his father groaning brought a flicker of a worried frown, it was hard thinking about his father aging...he didn't want to think of the possibility but no one lived for forever. Fiercely shaking his head Rinji chose to ignore that possiblity and focused on the now. That is what mattered.
"What should we hunt? Rabbit? Deer? Snake-naw not snake taste to..." He tried to find a word to describe his hatred for the stuff. "Rough? Gross?"

Yorath licked his lips as he thought of what he wanted to eat. "I could eat rabbit, it is not hard to get and I'm in the mood for some." He picked up his pace though he maybe aging he was in perfect health for his age. "I'll even allow you first go." He raised his eyebrow in friendly banter while challenging his son in his next breath. "That is if you can catch one."

"Oh how nice of you!" Rinji bantered back before nudging his shoulder into Yorath's shoulder. "Come on old lion let me show you how a pro hunts!" He trotted off head held high along with his tail right before he tripped.
"Oh so pro-hunter there son. You really showed me." The amusement was clear in Yorath's voice.
His silver face tinged with pink he sheepishly looked up before laughing which made his father laugh as well. Ah well what was life without something to laugh about? "Right! Let's try this again!"

It didn't take that much time before he watched proudly as his son not only take down a rabbit but a bigger beast as well. His hunting skills had greatly improved the last time they got together for some father-son bonding. " I'm proud of you son." Yorath made sure to express his love when he could as he himself never experienced the love and support of his own parents.
"I had a great time dad." Rinji spoke softly into the night as they both laid on there backs mane touching mane inorder to watch heavens show.
"Me too son, me too." His lids began to droop and felt himself drift off to sleep. Life was good.
END.
