"The king and his men stole the queen from her bed..." A soft whisper of wind blew through the evening fog, sending it dancing around trees. "And bound her in her bones... The plains be ours, and by the powers, where we we'll, we'll roam..." Almost dancing, a lioness moved out of a thicker bank of fog, eventually vanishing into another. Somewhere in the fog, the prey animals danced away, avoiding the eerie singing. "Yo ho.. All paws.. Hoist the colors high... Heave-ho, thieves and beggars, never shall we die..." There was a light thud as the lion ran into a tree, hidden by the fog.

Shaking her head, another lioness followed, going to where she'd heard the thud. Between the evening hour and the fog, there was relative silence from the animals about. When she located the other lion, Meztli let out an exasperated sigh. "Nenetl... You have to stop doing that... You might run into an elephant or rhino." She wasn't into explaining to their brother, if they ever found him, just how their idiot of a sister had died. Trampled because she'd walked into something...

The lioness simply giggled, getting up. "Now some have died, and some are alive, and others wander the plains.. With the keys to the cage, and the devil to pay, we sail to fiddler's green..." She paused, flicking an ear. "Wonder what sailing is..." A giggle peeled its way from her throat, before she danced off. "Yo ho, all together, hoist the colours hi.. Heave-ho, thieves and beggars, never shall we die!"

Letting out an exasperated sigh, Meztli followed after. "Nenetl, PLEASE watch where you go..." She couldn't quite answer for her sister on the matter of sailing. Whatever it was, it involved the sea. She paused, looking back the way they'd come. It seemed like only yesterday that the crate they'd been shoved into had fallen off the ship with their brother's crate, and they watched him float away. The blue-marked lion stopped, brow furrowing. Oh, wait, that HAD been... A couple days ago. A week, at least. They'd only just washed ashore the day before. Now she had to deal with keeping track of... "Aw, s**t... Nenetl!" Meztli took off, looking for her sister.

Nenetl paused, looking at a funny-shaped tree. It looked like the painting on the wall of their enclosure! A paw reached out, touching it to assure herself it was real. It was! Or was it just part of a very big fake tree, like the other ones back home? Her claws sank into the wood, before she pulled herself up. Oh, this tree was real! She let out a giggle, standing on top of it and looking over some of the fog. "The bell has been raised from its watery grave, can you hear its sepulchral tone? The call to all, lay heed the squall, and turn your sails toward home..." She leaned over, spotting Meztli. "Yo ho! Haul together! Hoist the colors high! Heave-ho, thieves and beggars! Never shall we die!"

Meztli stopped, ears flicking. Her eyes narrowed before she looked up, glaring at her sister. "Nenetl, get down here!" She put her paws on the tree, trying to shake the other lion down. This was a serious situation! They didn't know where they were, or if they were even actually at the thing the humans had called a zoo! Curse the two-legged bald apes for trying to contain them... Letting a growl out, Meztli tried to grab Nenetl's tail. "We have to go home! Come ON!" She caught Nenetl's tail, giving it a good yank. There was a moment of give, before Meztli became a landing cushion for her sister.

There was a squeal as Nenetl was yanked back. Her claws reached for the branches, trying to grab onto the tree, but it did nothing to prevent her fall. When she landed, she blinked a bit. Inspection of her landing spot produced the fact she'd fallen on Meztli. "Oh... Hi, Meztli!" She got up, looking at her sister. "Is this a 'zoo' like the doggy at the funny fenced placed described?" It all seemed real to her! Bright gold eyes looked around, taking it all in. What a fun place this looked like!

"No, it's NOT a zoo. We're right back in Africa, in the wild, where we belong." Getting up and groaning, Meztli glared half-heartedly. "You need to stop wandering off. We have to get back home before Lord Ganon worries too much." She ruffled her sister's hair, almost affectionately. "And then you'll stay put, and I'll go find Tlaloc." For as few males as the E'he had, Tlaloc was the most loyal Meztli had seen. Of course, she was just a touch biased in that opinion, being Tlaloc's sister... "I think it's this way..."

Nenetl's ears fell back, a sad look on her face. "Aw, but I wanted to go to the zoo... I wanted to see all the funny little monkeys that come to worship us!" She hurried after Meztli, then tugged a blue ear. "Meztli... That's the wrong way. That goes back to the Big Water!" The dusty-brown lioness let out a giggle, then ran the other way. "Desert's this way, Meztli!" Occupied in looking back at her sister, Nenetl missed the tree until she ran into it. She stumbled a bit, shook her head, then went at a slower pace. Might want to stop doing that...

Shaking her head, the darker lioness followed her sister. A flick of her ear told her that the younger was right. The direction she'd gone was the wrong one, back to the sea. That wasn't where she wanted to go... She wanted to go HOME. When Nenetl ran into another tree, Meztli growled low. Idiot... She hurried after, quickly catching up. Nenetl going slower made it easier, at least. "Tell everybody I'm on my way..." Even she had to give in a bit to the singing. It was... Infectious. She soon dissolved into humming, the spirit of the song soaking into her.
