It was going to be a looong night, she could already tell as she took an idle stroll among the streets of Destiny City. All was well. Everyone was home and safely tucked within their beds. The streets were silent save for the sound of the occasional barking.

Nothing out of the ordinary here. "A complete bore, as usual." Val confessed with a disappointed sigh.

For Val, Life was no longer any fun. Her daily activities no longer seemed as if they were of any entertainment; partying, shopping, dress-up, dancing, nothing. Even the hunt of star seeds wasn't as thrilling as it used to be. It had it's enjoyable moments.. But humans were child's play. There was no challenge there. They would scream or run away, but the physical abilities of the negaverse far surpassed those of human's. No matter how fast they were, they were always caught easily.

And tonight's prey was no exception. Gripping the woman's throat in one hand, she cast her a look of disdain. Choking, the woman lifted her trembling fingers to Val's face as if to soothe, and beg her to stop.

"P-please..!" She cried, tears streaming for her eyes as she silently pleaded for the lieutenant to spare her life.

Unfortunately, Val had no sympathy for such sentiments. Prolonging the woman's death, she continued to tighten her grip by the minute. The strangled protests and gasps were like music to her ears. Her lips curved into a smile as she found herself enjoying the moment.

Ah, well. This was entertainment enough, she supposed.

Why did Alkaid always have to run across these things right when she and Saiph split up to cover more grounds with their patrol? It was like she was some kind of magnet for bad luck - which wasn't really something she wanted to think about given her recent experience with curses and mirrors.

But here she was, panicked into motion by the desperate cries she could hear down the street, running as fast as her Senshi-powered legs would carry her. She came to a skidding stop, her breath drawn out into long pants, and her eyes widening at a scene that was all too familiar. A negaverser and a civilian being tortured. It was just her luck, wasn't it?

She barely had time to stop and breathe before she brought her hand up and let loose her attack in an attempt to distract the girl away from the civilian. "Guiding Light!" The ball of light went whirling towards its target, a sure hit as always, but not enough to hurt the girl much.

"Leave her alone!" She called out, raising her chin and balling her fists up at her side. She tried to look confident, strong - everything she wasn't without Saiph beside her. There was someone that needed her help though and she couldn't just stand by and watch them suffer. She just hoped Saiph came to find her soon.

As the woman continued to struggle for air, Val's eyes narrowed in contempt at the scene. Why the woman bothered, she didn't know. Her determination was admirable but without power, entirely useless. Surely, death was inevitable, there was no use in fighting it. In a mocking tone, she addressed the woman with a sweet smile. A look of surprise flashed across the woman's face as she beheld the face of her killer— a smile leading her to believe that perhaps her killer would have mercy on her.

No such chance. "It's been fun meeting you." Val announced with a grin as her hand pulled back in preparation for the plunge. "Goodbye no—"

Her words were cut off as she was suddenly hit with a ball of light- most of the impact merely surprise. Startled, she released the body with a loud thud as she threw up her arms to defend herself. What the hell was that?!

Surveying her surroundings, her eyes met those of a blond-haired senshi. (Quite adorable really.)

"Leave her alone!"
The senshi had cried, her chin raised and her fists balled up in a valiant attempt to appear confident.

But the effect was lost on Valleriite. Was that a senshi's attack? How pathetic. At least, Castor's had the ability to scratch her. Hers? Nothing. It was enough to make her laugh! She should have been an ornament, really. She would have done better as one.

Placing a hand on her hip, "Novel way to introduce yourself, you think?" She scoffed, as she gave the senshi an admonishing frown.

Well, at least she had dropped that poor woman. Now, however, Alkaid had yet another Negaverse Lieutenant staring her down and this one had a weapon that looked like it might actually hurt if she managed a few blows.

"It got your attention, didn't it?" For what it was worth, she didn't back down. Her eyes stared straight ahead at the showy female, her body was rigid, and she was simply preparing herself both mentally and physically for a battle. She couldn't stop to think that this would be another Uranophane - that would be too hopeful.

"You should really try picking on someone your own size, you know," well, that sounded cheesy, and she had to wonder if Castor was rubbing off on her. Her body relaxed, but not because she was letting her guard down. No, it was because Ari's training was ringing in her head - never attack with locked knees or elbows. This was the first time she was going to be attempting this on a sentient target. "Besides, aren't Senshi starseeds much more valuable?"

No, she didn't really want her starseed stolen, but if it saved the life of that woman then she'd bait her as much as she had to.

While she had regarded the girl with a dubious glance, that soon transformed into a bubbling of laughter. One had placed on her hip, the other covered her mouth in an attempt to stem her laughter. Oh, this girl was adorable. She was willing to sacrifice her own life in exchange for the woman's? How utterly noble.. and ridiculous.

"It certainly did." She replied as her lips curved upwards into a careless grin.

Abandoning her interest in the woman, she cast the body aside. With one last contemptuous glance, she gave the woman one last final beating. The woman groaned in pain, as Val's boots struck her with brutal force. The beating lasted no more then a few minutes, but no doubt, the pain would last the rest of her life.

But for the most part, she was alive.

Thanks to Alkaid's little distraction. It was just as Alkaid had proposed- a Senshi's star seed was far more attractive then a mere human's. It was certainly an offer that Val would take her up upon. After all, why settle for less when you could have more? It wasn't a mere rock she was after, it was a diamond.

Tipping her hat forward, she summoned for her weapon. Without delay, the rod materialized. Gripping the rod in hand, she gave it a little twirl. "Let's do this, shall we?" She declared, as she beckoned for the senshi to attack. Her posture clearly relaxed, her eyes filled with lazy determination.

And on her face, a devilish grin. Clearly, she was taunting the girl. Was the senshi up to task or not?

A moment of relief swept over Alkaid as she watched the Negaverser drop the poor civilian onto the ground. She was hurt badly, especially with those last couple of kicks, but it was true - she was still alive. It was more than she could say for the poor man that she had tried to save from Tanzanite. For a few seconds, she had a glimmer of hope, at least until she realized that the full force of the girl's attention was now on her instead.

A slight panic swarmed over her as she watched the weapon materialize out of nothing. Tanzanite had done the same thing with those jumper cables. At least now she could make a few assumptions about their weapons. It wasn't really the time to think, however, and as she stared across the alleyway towards the very flamboyantly dressed Negaverser, her heart began to speed up. What did she do now? She couldn't run and leave the woman to her fate, but that grin was a little terrifying on the face of her enemy.

"Let's," she said softly beneath her breath, her gaze drifting from the girl's face and then down to her rod. If she could get close enough that she couldn't swing it at her well, maybe, just maybe she'd have a chance at this. With little more than a second between words and attack, Alkaid leaped forward and towards the Nega. She was trying to get inside her guard before she could be hit, and although her Senshi abilities gave her more speed, she wasn't sure it was enough against this girl. Regardless, she had one hand poised to strike, aiming a punch directly towards the girl's face as she closed in. If she connected or not would depend entirely upon the Negaverser's reflexes.

From afar, Val glimpsed the brief look of panic and fear on the girl's face before it was replaced by grim determination.

Ah, courageous wasn't she? "What idioticy." Val thought to herself, as she chuckled. The fact she loved most was that the senshi never failed to amaze her.

What she found most amazing was their stupidity. Here this senshi was, willing to risk her life for a total and complete stranger. How chivalrous, she supposed. But she just called it plain ol' stupidity. Whether a complete stranger died or not, was no loss on her part.

All she had to do, was sit back and enjoy the show. And in this little play, a fight between the senshi and negaverse, Alkaid was turning out to be quite the splendid actress, Val mused to herself as the senshi sprung forward in hopes of landing a surprise attack.

Her agility startled Val, as she covered the space between the two in a matter of seconds. Fortunately for Val, the expression on the girl's face had given away to her intentions long before her attack. "Too obvious." She remarked, dodging the senshi's attack to her face, the impact of the punch landed on her shoulder instead.

Leaping backwards, she gave the senshi, what appeared to be a mockingly pitiful glance. "You can't hurt me with that." She declared, as she shook her head.

And with barely a moment's notice, she lunged at the girl, her weapon poised to strike at the girl's legs. That was what Alkaid should have aimed for instead.

Almost everything about Alkaid was hopeless. Her Senshi attack was useless, her fighting knowledge was amateur at best, and she was terribly unorganized. The only thing Alkaid could lay claim to was a passion for what she was doing and knowledge that if she didn't try to stop this then no one else would. If she didn't fight for the weak, then who would?

She didn't have time for a witty comeback, nor did she really feel like making one. She was too busy being disappointed with herself (not only had she missed, but she'd done very little good) and trying to judge what this girl was doing next. She had jumped into her range and despite the fact that the Negaverser's pause to make a snide remark had given her a little time to recollect herself, she couldn't jump completely out of the way in time.

Alkaid tried to leap backward, but her foot was caught by the strange cross the lieutenant was carrying. It clipped her ankle, causing her to stumble, and a very startled Alkaid barely managed to land in a crouch with her hands splayed on the ground beside her to keep her balance. She instantly sprung backwards, trying to get away before the girl could strike at her again - being on the ground meant she might strike at her face, and her ankle already smarted from the first swing.

Once she was safely away, she stood back up to her full height, trying not to show that her ankle was actually sore - which meant putting her full weight on it and suffering through the tinge of pain. This was a match between a short ranged weapon and an agile Senshi. She wasn't going to do much damage, she could see that, but the girl couldn't get her unless she ran into her range either. Just how long could Alkaid keep her energy up and keep the lieutenant chasing after her? One of them would get tired eventually, and Alkaid wasn't sure the odds were in her favor.

Stable and on her feet again, Alkaid decided a prolonged chase just wasn't something she was in the mood for. She wasn't much for a game of chance. Instead, she once again tried to close the distance between them before the negaverser could land a blow. Once close enough she aimed a punch for her stomach, already bringing her second fist around to swing before she was sure the first would even hit its mark.

"Like what you see?" came the question, as the rod connected with the senshi's ankles.

She certainly did. Valleriite grinned in satisfaction, as the girl stumbled to the ground. Oh, how she did so enjoy seeing the sight of a senshi on her knees. Not that it lasted for long. The senshi immediately sprung backward, as she struggled to gain distance between the both of them.

A shame really, that the attack hadn't done as much damage as she thought.

Not that she was disappointed. It was have been far too boring, if a senshi was to be knocked down so easily. Lips curved into a smile, "Smart move." Val complimented, as she clapped her gloved hands lightly together in a display of mock praise.

She was impressed, really.

Or was it amusement? Not that it mattered either way. "Still up for more?" Val said, as she ran her fingers through her blonde hair. Despite her nonchalant appearance, she was quite aware of the other girl's movements. Her tense shoulders practically screamed 'on guard', as she poised to attack.

But unlike the first time, Val wouldn't be caught by surprise. Heels grinded in the pavement, she dashed forward with startling speed. Her weapon dropped to the ground as she caught the girls fist in her own, one of her legs prepared to land a swift kick to the girl's stomach.

Unfortunately, she had not accounted for the other hand. The fist connected with her cheek, throwing her off-balance as she staggered back from the pain.

Unfortunately, Alkaid's attack-first-defend-later approach didn't stop her from taking the initial kick to the stomach. She felt her first first caught, holding her guard open wide, and before she could even blink the wind swiftly evacuated every part of her being. Fortunately she had already begun to swing with the other first, otherwise it might not have ever connected.

As it was, that seemed to be her saving grace, causing the girl to not only let go but perhaps not follow through all the way with whatever she was planning. Alkaid quickly fell to hands and knees at the negaverse lieutenant staggered away. One hand came up to clutch at her stomach where she'd been kicked and her whole body leaned forward towards the ground in a mix between dry-heaving and gasping for breath. She couldn't breath, which meant she couldn't think and didn't even stand a chance if the girl attacked at that moment.

Her survival really only depended on whether or not she could recover from the stun first, or maybe a miracle.

The force of the punch had her staggering back, but it wasn't enough to knock her down on her knees.

Gripping her weapon with one hand, "Lucky shot." Val muttered, using the back of her other hand to wipe away the blood from the cut of her mouth. Though the bleeding stopped shortly after, it did nothing for the bitter taste that lingered behind. The taste of blood, mingled with shame and indignation.

How dare she?

Gloves stained with spots of blood, Val felt her fury begin to arise. If there was one things she hated more then senshi, it was an injury. To the face. That in itself was practically a crime. And like aways, punishment soon followed after. No one stood to injure her, and walk always unscathed. No longer fun and games, Val's eyes frosted over as she glanced over at the sight of the limp senshi.

She'd live to regret her actions.. Val would make certain of that. If only for a few minutes longer before her lifeless body was dumped into the bay of Destiny City.

Covering the distance between the both of them in a few quick strides, Val jerked Alkaid roughly by the collar. "Let's take it slow, shall we?"

It seemed that Sailor Alkaid's hope for a miracle was fast approaching the scene. Sailor Saiph hadn't liked splitting up, but it was true that she and Alkaid could cover more ground that way. However, as nothing had turned up on the path she'd chosen, Saiph was doubling back to check on Alkaid. Leaping from rooftop to rooftop where she could, a flicker of movement caught her eye. Pausing, she crouched in the shadows above and watched as Alkaid managed to punch a strange girl in the face.

Grinning with feral glee, Saiph nearly cheered for her partner. It had been a decent blow. But the cheer was destined to die unuttered as the punch failed to fell the other girl and she was soon closing the distance and seizing Alkaid. No question of her intents either, Saiph thought. Moving quickly, she tore a couple of the small, but sharp shark teeth from the string around her waist. Leaping down from her perch, she flung the teeth as hard and quickly as possible, aiming one for the ridiculous top hat and the other for the hand gripping Alkaid.

"Let Alkaid go, clown girl!"

Alkaid was still gasping for breath as she saw the feet of the negaverse lieutenant approaching from her peripheral vision. It was against her will when her face was yanked up to stare into the eyes of her attacker, her chest still heaving and choking and one hand curled around her abdomen as if to protect it from another attack.

Unable to speak, she simply stared up at the girl defiantly, trying her hardest to appear dignified. It was a bit difficult when she was trying not to choke on the air burning her lungs. She was completely prepared to suffer through some terrible torture, though inwardly holding out for some miracle

Just as she was sure that wouldn't come, she saw her savior leaping down from the dark skies above them. A wave of relief swept over her as she watched her partner rush onto the scene, her hair trailing behind her like a lime banner against the city sky. She tried to croak her name out in response, but in the end all she could do was smile weakly and wait for the negaverser to let go of the choking hold on her collar.

"Cat got your tongue?" She teased, her lips curving to form a silky grin.

A grin that could have been easily mistaken for friendly teasing between friends.. if it wasn't for the sadistic glint in her eyes that gave her away. The senshi could only gasp in her reply to her question as she continued to struggle for breath. Though the sight of the senshi's suffering served to appease a part of her anger, it wasn't enough. She wanted her to beg. She wanted her to cry. She wanted her face eating the <******** dirt.

Instead, she simply gave Val a defiant stare.

Smile fading fast into annoyance, her hands wrapped itself around the girl's neck and with each second that passed— her grip became tighter, and tighter. Choking, the senshi struggled to speak, but her voice was a mere croak. Dismissing the senshi's words as a plead for help, Val paid no heed to the sight behind her.

Which she should have, unfortunately.

"Looks like it'd the end for y—" She announced but her sentence was interrupted, as she found herself hit by small pellets. "Let Alkaid go, clown girl!" One knocked her hat off, as the other struck against her knuckle. "Ow!" She gasped, dropping the senshi's body with a loud thud.

That hurt! Her hand took precedence over Alkaid, as she began to massage her sore fingers.

"Clown? You're one to talk." She retorted, as she directed her gaze towards the newcomer. "And just who are you supposed to be? Jurassic Park."

Smiling grimly, Saiph shook her head as if in despair for her opponent's attempt at witticism. What was it about these guys that made them spout off ridiculous insults?

"Says the one dressed like an Alice in Wonderland fetish..." she replied calmly. Using Tail Thrash was out of the question until Alkaid was out of its range. Which meant that she was going to have to use words and improvise. Though it she could avoid using her attack... well.

Watching her partner, she willed breath into the other senshi's lungs. Alkaid was still too close to the other girl. Keep distracting the b***h, she ordered herself.

"Tell me," she said in her most patronizing tone of voice, "your bosses ever teach you how to not speak in stupid cliches? Or is that part of your initial training? 'Cause I gotta be honest here, they make you sound about as dangerous and tough as a sickly toddler."
