Today was one of those rarest of days. The day where he didn't have any work. From either job. Miraculous. And of course he found himself not knowing what to do. Because it was usually work, shower, eat, work, sleep, work. Or some variation of those things with the occasional (or...not so occasional) bit of going out with friends shoved in there somewhere.

So as someone who usually found most of his time taken up by something, having nothing to do was a bit of a shock. So he found himself wandering around town aimlessly, finally stopping to get a cup of coffee.

And thus he started the time honored tradition of the bored. People watching. Which was incredibly more interesting in Gaia than it should be. People with wings (not that he could comment on that), people with animalistic features (not too much commenting there, either), people with extra appendages, strange colored hair and skin, strange clothes, strange everything. But it was Gaia, so it wasn't really....strange, considering, but still interesting.

But sometimes there were things that were even beyond the normal range of strange. Such as chameleon people. And four armed cat people.
Don't see that every day.

James had hurried to the counter to order himself and Kristof their coffees, his tongue slurring his speech and frustrating both customer and worker. Kristof very much enjoyed watching the other young man humiliated. He sat at a table, two hands clasped under his chin, and idly peered around the little shop. There were a couple of women, but they were accompanied by men and so would not make good targets for today. Instead, he took up staring back at the rude winged teen nearby.

"Hello~"

His voice was silky-smooth, almost a purr.

Lind's eyes glazed over with boredom as he continued to scan the group of people in the shop. Well. Until he saw someone staring back. His eyes stopped briefly on the person before continuing on, only to jump back to the person once what he looked like finally hit him.

His gaze was slowly dragged back to Kristof, having noticed the four arms earlier, but not noticing everything else. Well. Uh. This was kind of...unnerving. But hey. Don't judge a book by it's cover and whatnot. And he seemed...interesting in a....creepy way. So. Uh. A conversation would at least not be boring?

"Hhhh..." That word was quickly destroyed as he caught sight of the tail. With a...foot. A foot tail. A tail foot? A...ped-tail? It seemed to draw in his attention for a few moments as the beginnings of his greeting still hung in the air awkwardly, waiting for the other half to join it. Right. Staring. Rude. Riiiight. He almost seemed to tear his attention from the strange appendage and back up to the rest of the person. "...eeeey."

Kristof just arched a brow. He was well used to people staring at him, especially his tail. It had ceased to bother him; silly humans with their shallow, pedantic standards. His intertwined fingers did a sort of wave among themselves before he spoke again.

"It's impolite to stare, you know." Everything was overly-enunciated and spoken in that same deep, silky tone.

Hey. Being human (which he wasn't, bee tee dubs), had nothing to do with it. It was purely because he was a bored teenager with nothing on his mind but caffeine. And he really can't blame people, it wasn't like everyone was walking around with one. Unusual. Even for here.

"You're staring too, you know," he managed to get you before taking another sip of coffee. It was rather difficult to not be creeped out, though, even in the slightest bit. It was kind of balanced out by the desire to just burst out laughing. Which was good, since it ended up with him not doing either.

Though it really didn't help that he kept on hearing quotes from The Silence of the Lambs in the back of his head whenever he talked.

James returned then, looking as sad as a chameleon can, and handed over Kris' cup. Kris ignored it in favor of continuing his unblinking stare.

"Well, Jimmy-boy," he said, not taking his eyes from Lind, "Aren't you going to say hello to our new friend?"

James looked up at Lind and then back down sheepishly.

"Hhlhh," he said softly before taking a sip of coffee so he hopefully would have to say no more.

Lind gratefully switched his attention over to the new...chameleon ish person, hoping to pretend at least that he wasn't being stared at perpetually. Was starting to get a bit more than creepy. But hey. Someone who didn't seem to be intentionally trying to creep him out. That was faaaabulous.

His fingers wiggles in a wave, not quite sure what to do from here. His eyes flickered from James to Kris as he sipped his coffee as well, feeling rather awkward for a change.

Kristof was not intentionally trying to creep Lind out. It just seemed like everything he did turned out that way. Oh well! He smiled eerily as James turned back to his cup. Kris didn't like it when he talked out of turn.

"So, boy," Kris said, although he was the same age as Lind, "What's your name?"

Well. You would think that he would notice that he was being creepy at least. Though it would be probably...infinitely more so if he actually tried to. Might not want to see that, though.

"Uh, Lind." He slid down in his chair slightly, finger absently running around the rim of his cup. Usually he would point out the whole same age thing, but he really didn't think it would do much in this situation. He looked up from the tabletop, blowing a few loose strands of hair out of his face. "Yours?"

Kris' smile just broadened and he laughed slightly. He wasn't about to give up his name.

"Well, go on," he said, nudging James under the table with his foot. James blushed as only a chameleon can and looked deep into his cup.

"Jnnshh."

Kris was given the look reserved for people who said they knew something and then wouldn't tell you. Because that was just a jerky thing to do. Jerkjerkjerkjerk.
Though that wasn't too unexpected. But still. Jerkjerkjerkjerkjerk.

Right. Jnnshh. That was...right. "Er...nice to...meet you." Hey, never hurts to be polite. Plus it was just drilled into his head too much to not do it. Go Subomom.

"...I guess."

James held his cup in both hands and took a long sip. Hnh. Kris was only trying to get him to be social, he was sure, but he didn't like the looks people gave him. One eye flickered to the door as it opened, and the other remained trained on his cup.

"Mm. Pleased, I'm sure," Kris said, smile falling. What a rude little b*****d!
