Liella walked along slowly, enjoying the coolness of the early morning. It wasn't often that she left the protective cover of the trees, but even though she wasn't in the forest, she stuck close to it's outer edge. She was on her way to find a peaceful place to graze for the morning, for her stomach was emitting a pitiful growling that annoyed even her. Of course, she couldn't help stopping here and there to admire certain things, like a random wildflower, or an interesting-shaped leaf. Too many interesting things, and so little time in the day to study them!

She soon grew tired of her admiring, though, when her stomach growls became too loud to bear. So she traveled a but further and stopped in the middle of a tasty looking patch of clover, bending her graceful neck to reach the blossoms below.

The early morning air had become a familiar feeling for the dark stallion. It was at this time of the day that he could wander off on his own without a most curious prickling feeling stirring up inside his gut. It only came when he tried to leave Fox without telling her. Mornings were different though, they brought no unpleasant feeling just the desire to hunt down food and drink before returning to the brown mare. This morning he found himself out earlier than usual. His sleep had been poor as of late and his stomach had been demanding that he seek out sustenance for over an hour.

So, with his head down more like a cat on the hunt than a horse he moved quietly along the hidden paths that would bring him to tastier food than the grasses that grew near his resting place. His tail stood straight out almost as though it couldn't be bent to keep it from brushing against the branches of the sleeping undergrowth. All the while his ears and eyes moved about keeping alert for signs of anything unusual as he had been trained to do.

He came to a sudden stop when his eyes actually fell onto something. He turned and stared at it with dark pink eyes from the shadow of a tree sizing it up. A mare, based on size. No claws or wings. He couldn't see a fang but that didn't mean that it wasn't there. He stared, watching as she bent to get at the clover that grew underfoot. "White...and black...hmmm..." He mumbled quietly continuing his observations. His stomach rumbled noisily but he ignored it. He was busy, food would come later.

Liella hadn't taken two bites before she heard a noise behind her. It wasn't loud, and didn't startle her, but naturally, it sparked her curiosity. She perked her head up, shaking her dark bangs from her eyes, and twisted her neck to look behind her. A dark figure loomed beyond a cluster of brush, and after careful study, Liella discerned it as another Soquili. A male--and a strange looking one, at that. But still, it was interesting to see another Soquili in her usually solitary life. She only hoped that this one was friendlier than most she had met.

Having no hesitation at all, she smiled at him, and nodded a greeting. "Good morning to you, sir! Could you oblige me by revealing yourself more fully? You need not skulk in the bushes!" Her voice was light and feathery, and held a tint of laughter to the tone. Many would describe her as "fairy-like", and to be truthful, she liked the term. Of course, it was not often that she socialized, and it had been a while since anyone had told her anything about herself. Perhaps this new stallion would be willing to share a few words?

Skulk? That really was not a word that he would have used. It implied that he had other intentions than coming to a better understanding of this creature through observation. Still, he had no reason whatsoever to stay concealed in the shadows. The only reason he had stopped in one was for the reason that it was conveniently there after all.

So with a slight bow of the head he stepped away from the trees and bushes and into the open. He was mindful of his tail, keeping it raised slightly so it didn't brush get caught in any bare bushes. Once clear of the potential hazards he lowered the tail and continued his approach.

One would have thought that he would come to a complete stop a few paces away from the mare. Instead he walked right up to her and stared at the flowers woven into her mane and tail. Not to terribly long ago he had tried to weave some into his companions hair but that had not gone over well. He had figured that there must have been some trick to it. Now he had a chance to figure it out. Information collecting was far more important than morning greetings.

Liella smiled as the stallion consented to her wishes and revealed himself fully. What a stallion he was, too! She had never seen such a rich blue coat, or such vivid marking as his--and that tail! What kind of a tail was that supposed to be? It did not seem normal, and perhaps would have irked her curiosity to no end had she not been slightly startled by his lack of care for personal space.

"Oh! Eh... hello..." she mumbled, taking a step back to gain her bearings towards the sudden closeness. She noticed the quizzical and knowledgeable look on his features, and followed his curious gaze to see that her flowers were his subject. She grinned, now comfortable.

"Oh, so you've taken interest in these? I've worn them in my hair ever since I can remember. They remind of nature," she explained, stretching her neck out to better display the small blooms attached to her dark locks of hair.

As she moved away he lifted his head and cast a slightly confused look her way. Was she another of those that weren't fond of him getting so close? He'd encountered many that were that way in his travels. He couldn't quite understand what their problem was. It wasn't as though he was attacking or insulting them, he was only studying.

The corners of his mouth twitched back and down slightly as he decided not to investigate further. She had made this decision for him with her words. If she had worn those flowers in her head ever since she could remember it was likely that she had been very young at the time or else she had a bad memory. He sighed lightly. No matter what the case she probably couldn't remember how she secured them in the first place.

"I see." He said with resignation of this. He was a bit disappointed with her lack of knowledge since his looking hadn't proved any more fruitful than her words. He still could not see the trick in such things and his unhappiness of this showed on every inch of his body though he was not aware of it.

Liella noticed his sudden unhappiness and gave him a confused look of her own, the smile fading from her face. Though she seemed no longer uplifted, she was not yet angered or frustrated. Simply confused as to why her cheerful words would have upset this fine creature, and what exactly she could have done wrong in that short moment.

"I'm sorry, sir--have I done something to upset you?" she softly asked, pulling her head back to gaze at him more clearly. He had seemed interested in something, perhaps the flowers in her hair, but when she had said that she had had them for so long... that had upset him? But how?

"If I have done something wrong, please tell me, and I shall resolve it right away!" she exclaimed, letting a hopeful smile cross her face.

At her words Lamb suddenly became very aware of his own body. He could suddenly feel how his mouth was pulled taught, how his tail drooped slightly and how there seemed to be some slack in his posture. He did his best to correct all of these things at once and suddenly look quite rigid, almost like a tree, before shaking his head quickly and frantically. She hadn't done a single thing wrong and she needed to know this. It was at that moment that he remembered how Fox often reacted poorly to his lack of words. It was apparently difficult to understand one who didn't speak.

"Not you." He supplied ceasing his head shaking. "Flowers." He nodded his head to the blossoms in her mane but said nothing else. She could figure it out on her own right? From his experience girls were quite intelligent and capable right?

Liella watched his sudden, frantic movements with a bewildered eye, pure surprise on her face. Perhaps she expected words, or at least more words than he had given, and less of... well, whatever he was doing. But he seemed innocent enough, and by the two words that he did say, she guessed that the problem had not been her own.

"Oh! The flowers... yes, I suppose I haven't much else to say about them!" she offered, hoping that she had guessed along the lines of the problem. She was sure that the flowers hadn't offended him in some way, and that they hadn't struck him as ugly, so what else could the problem be? Whatever the answer, she was sure of one thing: This stallion sure was strange.

She chuckled then, brushing off their awkward engagement. "Forgive me, sir, but I haven't introduced myself. My name is Liella." She then moved closer to him, experimenting with his strange views of boundary, and smiled widely. "Is there some name that I may call you by?"

As expected, she didn't know. Oh well. It didn't truly matter it was just something that he would have to investigate elsewhere. Lot's of girl's wore flowers in their manes. It was quite a popular style. For the time being he allowed the curiosity to slip back into the corners of his mind for another day and considered leaving.

He would have had she not seen it fit to move their conversation in another direction and stepped forward. He blinked a few times at the mare named Liella. Perhaps his initial judgement of her had been a mistake as well. She didn't seem to mind getting close at all, so why had she moved. "Called Lamb." He answered with a short nod of his head and a twitch of his tail.

From the distance they were at he got a good look into her eyes. They were a bright blue, like Fox's, but they seemed a lot happier and not so troubled. Interesting. "Liella...soft..." He noted more to himself than anything.
