Foreign. Aluluei had set his eyes on the land outside of the Water Tribe's territory, blue eyes slit into a concentrated gaze. What was he looking for? Nothing in particular really. He had just taken this task on himself to watch out for his tribe, to keep the others safe, already given the temporary duties of the Chief while he was out.. somewhere. This wasn't one of those duties, though, he just did it for assurance of the tribe being safe at all times. But it was quite the boring task, being out alone at night without anyone around, or any light from the sun or lively creatures about to keep him going. His eyelids flickered sleepily before he snapped them open once more, not willing to give in. So what did he do?
Alu' started to mutter a tune under his breath, leaning with his shoulder against a near tree. "It seems a little darker on the other side, and I get a spotlight for some peace of mind. A brand new reflection, another direction, to take my life to the other side~" The little song honestly made him feel a tad nervous, but kept him awake as he watched for anything that posed a threat. He wasn't leaving, silly song. He would be sticking right where he was, in the Water Tribe, where he belonged. "She could melt the sun, she could freeze the moon, if she only wanted to.... If she needed.. to.." He had slowly let his words drift off as he swore he heard something near him, ears perked up and eyes scanning around.

It was easier to travel at night, Sukanya had discovered, because of the lack of sun it was a lot cooler and she didn't dehydrate quite as quickly, which meant she could walk further. Not that she had any place to be or place to go, she was just walking for the sake of walking. What else did she have to do? Sukanya was alone and had been alone for as long as she could remember. Her dark coat helped her blend into the darkness, but the electric blue on her paws and tail gave her away to anyone who looked closely.
She hummed as she moved, just to fill the silence that deafened her as she walked. "Ahh, hmmm, hm, mmmhmmm." She wasn't sticking to a tune. Sukanya wasn't musical in any way and even if she wanted to, she probably couldn't have stuck to a tune. Her paws hit the ground with soft thuds, and she didn't try to hide the noises. There was usually little predators around at night.
"She could freeze the moon, if she only wanted to.... If she needed.. to."
Sukanya froze as she heard the softly sung words nearby. Her own humming disappeared abruptly and she paused her moving. When the song faded away, she scanned the area, trying to find the source of noise. She spotted a tree nearby, but saw nothing different about it. Cautiously, she started to walk again and when the silence stretched out again, she started to hum again.
"Hmmm, mmmhmmm, ahhh, daaa, hmmm~"

Now what was that? Was that what he had heard just before? Aluluei's attention was caught by the faint sound of another's voice out in the dark somewhere around him. A rogue? Potential danger to the pride? Wha-.. No. Who was this? 'Now where would this other creature be in this darkness?' A voice in his head questioned as he looked around, trying to spot anything out of the ordinary. He saw nothing, really, besides the faintly outlined forms of the native rocks, plants, and trees he had seen and walked by so many times before. Huh.. How odd.
With a soft huff, Alu' brought himself away from his spot against the tree's side, giving a shake of himself before starting to walk out a bit more, away from the too familiar land of the tribe and out into no man's lands. Keeping as quiet as he could, the lion simply observed the areas around him, trying to concentrate on finding this mysterious thing. At the sound of even more humming in the night, Aluluei started to slow down his searching, finally coming to a stop in his walking and sticking in one spot. They sounded like they were awfully close by. Oh, he shouldn't have just walked into the situation like he had! He'd been all in a rush and was totally unprepared, with no idea of where they actually were and if there were others and... No plan of action when he actually encountered this.. this person.
Oh! He spotted the oddest color just a bit away from himself, a vibrant blue that shouldn't have been there. And it... moved? 'So that must be them.' He just had to go to them, ask what they were doing so close to the tribe, run them off if needed. He could probably handle them, but.. he would rather talk it out. Anxiously, he started towards Sukanya, honestly not knowing what to expect. "Who goes at this time of night?"

Her humming, desperate to fill the silence of the night, had unintentionally covered up the sound of his movements as she drifted through the darkness. Sukanya had no set destination in mind, but certainly hadn't meant to stumble across a pride boundary. She tended to avoid them if possible, because a pride meant a large amount of people condensed into one area and usually aggressive people paroling the borders. She had nothing against other creatures, it's just that she rarely found people who she got along with well. Conversations tended to end up stilted and unsure around her, despite her best efforts.
Her wandering feet froze, one paw half lifted from the ground when his voice came out of the darkness. Her humming dropped away abruptly, even her breathing stopped. His voice, she knew it was a he for a female wouldn't have had such a low voice, seemed to echo around her. Blessed noise, she couldn't help but think, glad that her humming wasn't the only noise, but it soon sunk in that he might be dangerous.
She had two options, stay and hope he wasn't dangerous, or turn tail and run. She didn't know if he had seen her already, or if he was the type to chase her, even if she ran. Taking a deep steadying breath, she opened her mouth. Her eyes flitted across the darkened landscape, trying to find him. “Sukanya,” she said into the darkness when she failed to spot him. Her voice was soft and slightly accented as she pronounced her name, Sook-ahn-yah. “I-I'm sorry, have I disturbed your slumber?” She hoped it was as simple as that, perhaps then he would shrug it off and let her leave.

'Hah!' So she had a name! He couldn't help but give a flick of his tail at hearing the reply in the dark to his question, finding it a tad interesting how another creature's voice, actual words, besides his own sounded at the time. Hm. Aluluei continued on his way to find the leopardess, the shaggy tuft of mane atop his head slowly slipping over his eyes and slitting is view as he walked. How troublesome!... Not that the male was paying any attention to the path in front of him. No, his mind had drifted to thinking over the information he had been given. Sukanya. Huh, that was.. different. Not too long, and not too short. And it sounded quite pretty, for a female's name, now that he had the moment to think about it a little. But wait. Where was this Sukanya?
He brought himself away from his thoughts, eyes peering through his mane as he searched for blue. Bright, vibrant.. almost green tinted... blue. Where was this female? Giving a wiggle of his light colored toes as he slowed his pace, Alu' whipped his head about, looking for what he had seen just before. Hearing her question, the lion gave a c**k of his head, trying to find her in the night. Where was she? Gah! Curse how hard this was.. "Ah, no." He answered, picking up his pace and moving at a bit of a trot. 'Bah, this mane of mine..' Quietly blowing up at the locks in his face, Aluluei's steps started to swerve and change, distracted by that mane of his. "No. I wasn't asleep, miss." He continued, trying to multi-task during his search. Oh, the Water Chief would surely laugh at him if he was seen like this.
A shiver was sent up his spine as something brushed against the bottom of his wide paw, Alu' nearly stepping on the thing as he brought himself to an awkward stop. Something. Was touching. His. Paw. And he had not a clue as to what it was. He held in a cry of surprise as he brought his front paw back towards himself, the noise coming from his mouth an uncomfortable 'Un!' as he tried to gather himself. A hint of fear ran through him as he did so. Was this a snake? It sure had felt like it! He wouldn't have normally been afraid, had there been some light out, but for all he knew, this snake could be poisonous. Ugh.. Quickly shaking his head and messily flipping his forelock of mane out of the way, Alu' then blinked in surprise at what he saw. It.. was a leopard? She was that Sukanya female!
"I'm sorry!" He gave a bow of his head to acknowledge this, keeping his eyes on her as he lowered and raised his head. Perhaps he'd spoken too loudly? It was night time after all... Whoops. "I.. I apologize."

Sukanya had sat exactly where she had been to start with, worried to walk around in case she had stepped on him or stumbled over something. Her eyes were well adapted to night travel, but sometimes they failed her in spotting objects that should have been obvious. Large objects often just..blended in at times. When he spoke again, she felt relieved. At least she hadn't woken him up, but did that mean she had done something else? Was this his territory? Oh, that would be worse then waking him up, she thought, peering into the darkness.
She could see things moving about, but could not pinpoint his exact location. Why was it so difficult to see in the dark? She thought, slightly frustrated. If she could see properly she would have been able to dodge around him and continue on her way. Something large was coming towards her, and she froze, heart jumping into her throat as a paw brushed against her...tail. Flicking it as the large figure jumped back, she peered into the darkness, getting a clear glimpse of him for the first time. It was...a lion? She seemed amused suddenly, having expected someone larger and more threatening. She was thankful, of course, that it wasn't someone worse though.
"It's alright," she said, to his apology, wincing a little at his loud voice. She hesitated, glancing over her shoulder and then back at him. "Have I wandered into your territory, sir?" She said, shifting nervously. She still did not know his name, even!
