There was a chill to the air that made him pause and consider the night sky with a mild sort of interest, as though his eyes alone would help him decide whether or not it was going to rain. Might. The clouds were looming in the horizon, shades darker than the blue-black blanket above that was littered with stars, even now. Lieutenant Obsidian was treading lightly tonight, still sore over the battle he'd had with Sagittarius. Lips twitched, threatened to curl with his disgust, and he forcefully shoved the thoughts into the back of his mind.

No point in dwelling over it right now. It was just another name on his list that he intended to cross out--for good.

The park was a familiar place, comfortable in that sense, and he was skulking about through the shadows of old trees and stretched out benches. It had already been a long night, and was undoubtedly early morning now, but he was wide awake an well aware that he was going to regret this later. He could only sleep all day for so long before money became an issue yet again--it was something he needed to discuss with Charonite soon. A job, that was.

He took a seat on one of the park benches, let his long legs stretch out in front of him and felt tired muscles pull a little. No one was going to be out at this time of night, not in nice places like this. Not humans, anyway. But he wasn't exactly searching for anything out of the ordinary, just pausing to take a breather and stare up at the stars.

Nice, quiet night. A little rain would be good to stir up some activity. Hell, it might even give him the excuse to go home and get some sleep; he was still feeling bruised. The lieutenant stayed where he was, however, his mind feeling rather blank. He'd stay a little longer, just in case something interesting did crop up.

Just several nights ago, Ji-Yeon Nae had become the Senshi of Healing. It had been an amazing night, but that was an understatement. One to remember, for sure. However, she still had dozens of unanswered questions. Some were of the blatant ones asked; Why was I chosen? Some made her feel daft; How do cats talk? The others gave her chills; What was that monster that night, and where did it come from? There was no point in asking herself, she needed to ask someone. That was partially the reason she had come out so late at night, the fact that she knew the Sailor Senshi came out once dusk fell. Ji-Yeon knew from Dani that it was also part of their Sailor duty to scout at such a time, to watch out for civilians. Though she wasn't in senshi form for fear of catching attention, if she had to, she would.

If there was one thing Ji-Yeon couldn't get over, even after living in the Northern Hemisphere for so long, was the fact that most people went to bed so early. She had always been a night owl; frequently coming out at the acme of night, due to a nightmare, or simply a possible case of insomnia. Back in Korea, 3 in the morning was simply the peak. Everyone was awake albeit most were drunk, but they were all in good spirit. But, this was pleasant too. The antique lamp-posts were useless, the only thing that lit the way was a diadem of stars.

She looked twice in each direction, both right and left before crossing to the entrance of the park. Call her stupid, but she foolishly believed in being cautious. Softly sighing to herself, she giggled, at the prospect of the park being all hers for an hour or two. With a skip in her step, she carefully balanced herself when she jumped onto a obnoxiously large rock. Ji-Yeon looked around, once more, as to confirm there would be no one to point and laugh if she were to act stupid; thinking she was alone. But, there was someone.

Seated on the benches, lit by one of the lamps that actually functioned properly. His hair was that of fire, and his stance was rather uncomfortable, as if his height made it awkward for him to sit. Like he hadn't relaxed in days. Though she couldn't see from her distance, it was obvious he wasn't much older than her. Weird. Who would be out at such a time, besides an angsty teenager looking for some freedom? Ji-Yeon pondered on whether to approach him or not. Maybe he was suicidal, or something. Or perhaps he was lonely. A warning that was centuries old echoed within her cranium; Don't talk to strangers. Screw that. It was 2oo9, she could do what she wanted.

Cautiously skipping over to the man, looking directly into mint-green irises, obviously having no idea who he was, in the most friendliest tone she could manage, she chimed, "Hey there!"

Whatever he'd been expecting tonight... it was not the Asian girl in the park at this time of night, staring at him with big, dark eyes. And she was saying 'hey there' like he was some random guy on the bench. Some random guy out here, early in the morning, and some... what, young teenage girl thought that was okay? The lieutenant didn't know whether to be amused at her lack of sense, or amused that her parents hadn't taught her any better.

His arms twitched for a moment, then slowly lifted to stretch over the back of the bench even as his chin lifted so he could scrutinize her as though he had all the time in the world. So here was a chick who seemed oblivious to 'stranger danger'. "Little late for you to be out here in the park, isn't it?" The man had to ask with a bit of a grin before he pulled himself to his feet with a stiffened version of his normal grace. Hard to be relaxed when he was still counting the marks left on his body from the last battle.

The bruises all around his throat didn't look too good, either.

"But anyway, yes. Hey there. I'm your friendly, neighborhood psycho, and you, my dear, either have no idea why you shouldn't talk to strange men at night, or.... well, I don't even know what.." One hand reached up almost carelessly, fingers closing around... well, nothing. It undoubtedly looked bizarre.

Then he tugged, and a wooden sword fell away with the motion of his arm--which made the weirdness of it all suddenly intensify. The dull tip dug itself sharply into the ground as he leaned on the hilt with an elbow, but for all his casual stance, he was focused on her intently.

Too intently.

Hey there indeed. "And how are you tonight, besides apparently a little lost?" Obsidian offered with a grin.

For a few moments, the man simply inspected her as if she were merchandise. In return, she had done the same, and let out a practically inaudible gasp at the sight of purple-blue bruises circling his neck. Thankfully, he replied with a grin, and stood up. Either he was tall, or she was short. Probably the latter, almost everyone towered over her. If they were to battle, she'd definitely have the disadvantage. "Perhaps, but I could say the same to you." Ji-Yeon smiled. He didn't seem that bad, harmless really.

Or not. "Psycho? Strange? You don't seem the part." she chimed, paired with a fit of giggling. Besides the monsters she had occasionally encountered, there was no other force of evil in Destiny City...right? Suddenly, a tall, wooden sword that was practically her height came into sight, digging into the pavement, staring at Ji-Yeon as if she held the answer to life. "You're weird," she commented her lip slightly turning up. Good thing he distracted her with another question and a charming grin, or she might've gotten a bit paranoid. Sighing a bit, she slightly pushed the man towards the side, sitting on the bench herself, curling up her legs towards her chin. With a bit of a pout, she replied, "Fine. Just, normal teenage problems. You're not, right? How'd your survive high school?" Ji-Yeon inquired. What was this guy, her damn psychiatrist? She was so clueless at times. Then, looking up at the man once again, she asked, slightly pursing her lips, "Say, are you an actor? It's not everyday I meet a red-head with long hair, and that uniform and sword, they're props, right? Maybe I should get your signature." Ji-Yeon slightly joked. He was correct, she shouldn't be out this late, but he shouldn't have been either, right? Whatever, she thought. It was better than staying at home, having nothing to do. The man was definitely interesting.

The gasp made his eyes light up a little, terribly amused rather than offended by what he took for horror. "Pretty, huh? Got it for free, too." Sort of. "You could." Obsidian agreed idly enough, and some of his forwardness fade. She didn't look like she was going to be intimidated--which could be seen as both stupid, as well as admirable. If she could defend herself, that was. Maybe she knew Kung Fu. Asian, right? And he was racist, apparently.

"No? Then I'm doing my job well." The man replied easily enough, shifting his weight. "Weird? Special, I like to think of it as!" Obsidian snorted lightly, and a brow was arched at the mild shove she offered. Still, he shifted aside, allowing her to sit though he turned to watch her. "Oh... The usual. Try not to sleep through class, do your homework." Yeah. Right. The usual.

Lips quirked faintly as she inquired his profession, and suddenly he was reaching out to snatch her roughly by the wrist. He hauled her to her feet, ignoring any protests she might have squeaked out in order to stare her in the face. "No, not an actor. Murderer though, yes. Wish they were props, but that'd be less humiliating..." His grip was tightening, and he shook her fiercely before he twisted them both about, and shoved her hard. She'd probably topple over, but that was fine. He would take slow circles around her, musing. "But I could probably do something dramatic for you, before you die. Isn't that nice?"

The tip of the wooden sword would impale itself dangerously close to one of her legs, left there for a moment even as he crouched down. "Or maybe I'll just take your star seed now. I don't think you're going to make this very fun."

Ji-Yeon's pupils slowly dilated as the man turned from a random acquaintance to a serial killer. Forgive her swearing, but for goodness sakes, his grip hurt like s**t. As if she were simply a plushie, his shaking made her head spin. Several seconds later, the man shoved her rather harshly onto the cement, leaving a thick gash on one knee, and the sight of her own blood seemed a bit unrealistic. He took his time circling around her, each click of his step sending fear into the core of her heart; like a shark circling its' prey. What she had viewed as a prop, even laughed at it, several minutes ago, now seemed the hold the intent to kill, the wooden tip sliding down where the blood oozed out of. Though Ji-Yeon tried to remain calm, a shiver and a cringe couldn't be helped.

St-st-starseed? The hell? What was that? Didn't sound good, regardless. It was clearly in her possession. There was one thing she was certain of, this man had a connection to the monsters, youmas, Ji-Yeon had previously battled. If there was one thing she learned from her short period of attending Tae-Kwon-Do classes, [Obby was correct with his racism.] it was kicking. Her kick was weak, but it would provide a momentary distraction, and would give her time to henshin up. After that...well, she'd run. Leaping back to her feet, she aimed a direct kick for his stomach, and immediately grabbed her henshin pen. "SIRONA POWER, MAKE UP!" Ji-Yeon shouted.

A brilliant pinkish ray of light momentarily lit the whole park. E-er, o-o-okay, what now? Time to run. Without a moment of hesitation, she took off with a sprint. She was going to get caught sooner or later, the man was the type that enjoyed a good chase. It would simply stall her death. Could someone, please, hear out her mental pleas?

Being a sailor senshi wasn't exactly the best gig in the world, but as far as Larissa Duncan was concerned, you got used to it quickly. It was fairly straightforward: look for enemies, find enemies, fight enemies. The best thing would be, of course, to go out in groups looking for enemies, some kind of Cosmic Buddy System -- but Sailor Proxima needed to find a few more cosmic buddies before that became a feasible option all the time. As it was, she at least had her wits about her enough to realize that it was preferable to patrol in her cute-but-not-entirely-winterproof sailor suit than to risk having her secret identity compromised (particularly in this day and age where conveniently placed phone booths were things of the past).

The young girl who'd been accosted by a sword-bearing redhead had apparently not had the same instinct -- she transformed right in front of a Negaverse soldier and then took off at a tearing pace. She ran right into Sailor Proxima, who reached out with both gloved hands to steady the frightened girl -- though truthfully, she was more than a little frightened herself -- and then stepped out in front of her. Not because she wanted to, not because she was particularly confident, given her shaky prior experience -- for no other reason than because it was what you did. It was what a sailor soldier did.

"Stay behind me," she told the other senshi, though she wondered if the girl would simply continue to run off rather than stay and fight. She seemed to have a good Flight Response, which Proxima decided wasn't a very useful quality. "Chain of Consequence!" she called out evenly, summoning the golden strands of the Three Marias to her fingers once again. Proxima began a slow, idle arc over her head, just enough to keep the ends of the boleadoras aloft.

"Just out for a stroll, carrot top?" she challenged more bravely than she felt.

The blow to his gut was not something he'd been expecting, and he rolled with the hit in a way only experience could teach. The man didn't make a sound save for a soft grunt as the wind wasn't quite knocked out of him. The kitten had teeth, did she?

And a whole new wardrobe too, by the looks of it.

Obsidian found himself staring as the girl shouted something insensible, quickly transforming into a crimson-clad senshi. "This is a lucky night." The man murmured, more pleased than alarmed, it seemed. by that time, the girl had bolted, and shaking off the kick, Obsidian began to charge after her. His sword was tossed away, ready to be called back whenever he wished it.

Then, the other senshi leapt out of nowhere it seemed, caught the frightened kitten and stood in front of her. The boleadoras she summoned were eyed a bit more warily, and Obsidian drew up just a few feet short in front of the pair in order to better evaluate the situation.

"You're interruptin' a romantic moment." He drawled in return, and again the wooden sword would materialize in his hand. "Lucky for you, I'm not a selfish guy. We can all get our kicks, and then when you're both dead and steaming, I can look back on this and laugh." She was a striking thing, not quite gold and blue, and the lieutenant felt his interest beginning to resurface.

Maybe he'd get the fight he wanted after all. "Your move, sugar."
