Where was her father, anyway? She hadn't seen him for a good few hours now and she was sure he had said that he wasn't going to be long! Perhaps this wasn't long...as far as his time keeping went anyway. But Aysu felt like she had been alone forever and she always felt a bit nervous when he wasn't around.
They weren't that far away from her old pride, after all, and she was pretty sure her mother would emerge at some point to try and take her away.
Half of her wished that Horowai would show her face so that she could challenge her and win...the other half hoped she'd never see her again. Besides, as much as she hated her mother she didn't want to see her badly wounded or...worse.
She padded through the thick undergrowth of the jungle, calling out for her Father as she went, ears turning this way and that in case he were to respond.

Suijin was furious he could not believe the events that had just happened. His teeth were clenched together and his facial features were twisted in fury. His claws were extended resulting in pretty little dents in the ground in his wake. If he wasn't so angry he would realize that it was leaving a nice little trail right to him, but he didn't care. No he wanted someone to find him so he could beat the s**t out of them.
He had gotten into two fights today and one he actually lost. The other one had just been a minor scuffle in which he neither won nor lost. He did feel a little more satisfied in the fact that he had left marks all over the other males' shoulder.
Thinking of the shoulder resulted in being reminded of the ache in his own bloodied shoulder. The b***h had done quite the damage to him and he was so going to get payback and tear her limb from limb.

She leaped up onto a moss-covered boulder and reared up onto her hind legs, draping her forepaws over some hanging vines to keep herself balanced as she peered around. That was one flaw of the jungle. Its vegetation did well to hide you, but it was also an incredible hindrance and didn't make it very easy to find someone you had lost.
She whined in the back of her throat, ears falling down around her face.
Where was he?
That was when she caught the scent of blood on the wind and her heart clenched tightly. She gasped in fear and shock and pulled herself down from the vines to dash in the direction that the metallic scent emanated. Her breath rasped in her lungs as she moved, tearing through the undergrowth - ignoring the rasp of thorns at her hide.
"Father? Father!!"
Where WAS he?!

The male was very much in his own thought and only heard his daughter's call the second time. He was jolted from his thoughts as he lifted his head almost startled. "Aysu!" he barked in response eyes looking around for her. There was worry in her tone that he could hear from even far away.
Well he had been away for much longer than he had planned. If he hadn't run into Akira things might have been different, as it stood however this had been one of the worst days the pale-faced male had ever experienced. He couldn't wait for it to end.
"Where are you?" He growled in no mood to go and search for her, instead he sank back into a sitting position and waited. He winced as pain shot through his shoulder. He sighed sinking down to his belly. "Hurry up!"

She heard him call but was panicked to hear his voice still so distant. She had to get to him NOW! There was no waiting when his health was in jeopardy! If someone had hurt her father than they would pay for it and pay for it dearly. She'd see to that herself!
She burst through the undergrowth and a few moments later came into view of him. "I'm here, Father!" She gasped, her throat dry from the run and the panic. "Oh, Father! What happened? Who did this to you?!" She was moving quickly to his side, nudging at him gently and whimpering with concern.
She knew it wasn't mother, for Horowai's scent wasn't on him. But then...who? And why? It made no sense!
Her eyes fell on the wound on his shoulder and her ears drooped. "Father..."

Suijin glanced at Aysu, a frown upon his lips. "It doesn't matter. It's no concern of yours," he snapped harshly without meaning to. It was still a fresh wound, the whole incident, and he didn't want to explain it. Explaining it to his daughter would mean that he would have to explain his past which wasn't favorable at all. His past was his own and it was history, there was no use in clinging to it.
"I had unfinished business I went to attend to and it did not end in my favor," he explained simply with a small shrug. "Ugh," he groaned as he irritated his shoulder. "Damn that female..." he muttered under his breath. "Tend to that wound would you?" It wasn't a question, more of an order.
"It's no matter, I'll deal with them later," he shook his head. "Don't worry your pretty little head about it Aysu. I've got it under control."

"As long as you're sure..." She whispered softly. She wouldn't question him on it further. It was clear he was in pain and not wanting to relive the fight that he had lost. She knew already that her father prided himself on being in control of a situation and being strong. This was clearly a heavy blow for him and she wasn't going to make it worse by questioning.
"Hold still. I'll clean the wound out for you as best as I can."
She leaned closer, grooming the bloodied wound at his shoulder, wincing as she realised how much it must be hurting him. She couldn't do much for him in the way of fighting, but she could make sure this wound stayed clean to prevent infection.
She paused, only when she was finished. "That's as well as I can clean it, I think." She replied, glancing up at him. "But...you need rest. If you want to sleep...I can watch over you. Or...I can bring you food, if that's something you'd prefer."

"Thank you," he replied closing her eyes and allowing to do whatever she needed to cleanse it. There were times where his facial features would scrunch up in pain when she touched a tender part but he prided himself in showing no pain, he didn't utter a sound.
It would take a couple of days for the wound to even remotely recover, something he wasn't looking forward to. He could take the pain, he just couldn't take not being able to do anything. He would have to take the next couple of days at a slower pace.
He sighed. "No. Come here," he order gesturing to right before him. "Stay with me, lay down." He didn't want her going anywhere, who knew what lurked in the darkness of if he had been followed. He needed to keep Aysu close."

Purring with joy at being able to help her father, she nodded immediately and moved over stay close beside him. He wanted to keep her close. He wanted to keep her safe. And he was right! Together they would be safe. Alone they would be vulnerable.
She pressed against him, purring again.
"I'm sorry I wasn't there, Father..." She murmered softly. "If I was then...maybe this wouldn't have happened." She leaned her head against him, sighing softly. She knew she would protect him with her life. She would fight for him because he loved her and she loved him.
To have a parent like him...it was unimaginable! So different from that blue creature who had been her mother.

He settled his chin on her neck falling deep into thought. How did he let himself lose that fight? He never lost and this had been quite the ego bruiser. And Kagami...she had spoken again, not to him but to that beastly female. Had she already moved on so quickly? The thought made his blood boil. He would have his revenge, he swore he would. It wasn't over.
Aysu pulled him from his thought and he shook his head. "Don't apologize," he snapped accidentally. "This is something I have to deal with on my own and I don't want you getting mixed up in it," he explained. "My history is a messy one and if you get involve you will get hurt," he sighed. "I can't have that."
Despite having only had his daughter around for a short period of time it was extremely important to him to make sure she stayed safe. He had plans for her and although he would not be the first to admit it, she was incredibly important to him even if he didn't understand why.

She nodded sadly, looking at him with her large, innocent eyes. She was a stubborn creature, however, and she knew if trouble came for her father again she would stand by him and fight, no matter what he said.
He was all she had and wasn't her only joy in life worth fighting to protect?
"If we stay together, everything will work out." She replied. "I love you, Father. More than anything. I can't lose you."
She pressed closer to him, glad for his warmth, glad for his closeness. She closed her eyes and concentrated on that happy feeling in her heart.

"I know," he replied closing his eyes, ready to let sleep overtake him. "I love you too," he told her without a second thought. He knew that it was a simple fact, though how he loved her exactly? Well that was something that not even he was truly sure of. It did not matter, there would be plenty of time for him to figure it out later.
He said no more as his exhaustion, and battered body, over took him and he drifted off into a dreamless sleep.
