So, the one good thing(that wasn't socks or undies) that my parents got me for christmas was a $40 visa gift card(use it anywhere I want). I've pretty much decided I want to get something band related with it.
Now my problem. I have three things i want, but I can't have them all:
-Very pretty grey and pink fabric case($42 with tax, my dad said if I got it he would make up the difference)
-Metronome/tuner combo($15, without tax)
-Music Stand($18 without tax.)
If I got the metronome/tuner or the stand, I would likely get both. Now i will put why I want these things
Case:
-My current hard plastic one is heavy. This case is lightweight
-I have to cary it all day, and the plastic handle hurts my hands. This case has a soft spongy handle
-My current case has very little room for reeds, lyre, cork grease, etc. This case has a large side pocket plus inside room
-My old one is black with the fake leather chipping off. This one is extremely prety, with a cute litle skull design on the pocket
-Said skull design is the same design on my backpack. Matching!
Stand:
-My current stand was broken when I got i, and only holds a single sheet of music without falling.
-The little metal things that hold music on it in case if wind and such are rusted on mine, so they do not move and are therefore useless
-Mine is bent, so it doesn't unfold very easily
-The paint is chipping off of mine
-the stand I am going for comes in multiple colors that I like, and has a trebel clef design and generlly looks cool. Mine is an ordinary wiree stand with a drk purple color tht I'm not that fond of
-Wouldn't use up all the money on my card, so I could get more then just it
Metronome/tuner combo:
-I need one. badly.
-My current metronome does not work. It clicks, but when I had it going with another one at the same tempo, at the same exact time, it would slow down and pick back up until it was rushing, then slow down again. Wtf?
-I have no tuner...
Why not the case:
-I have a case
-It would use up al of my money.
Why ot the stand:
-i have a stand, even if it is broken
I might be able to convince my mom to buy me the tuner, instead of me buying it. I wis she would buy me both, but I doubt it(even though she still owes me a birthday present from two or three years ago, plus about 100 bucks from when my sis got an ipod and I got a cheapo mp3, and a birthday present from this year)
So, I need advice. What would be better for me to get? The case, the stand, the metro/tune, or the stand and metro/tuner? I really can't decide...

well this is just my opinion. I would get the stand and metronome/tuner because one your getting 2 of the 3 things you want. If you get the case your only getting 1 of the 3 things you want. thats just me. you deside what you want to do, but thats just my advice.

I agree with the person above me, cuz the tuner and stand are more usefull than the case, seince you already have one, but don't complain I play bari and contra bass saxophone, try carrying those cases around

Hm, thats true. But like I said, my parents might buy me the tuner/metronom, and I do also have a stand already it just doesn't stand up very well.(I guess it couldbe called a fallXD) But yeah, the whole 2 of three thing was another thing that made me want to get the stand and metronome, or one of them. I would be getting a bit more for the money.
I wish my parents would buy me oth the stand and the metronome/tuner, because that would make deciding so much simpler. I appreciate your input though.

I'd go with the tuner. I don't know what everybody else does, but I'm always stealing the tuners around me. xd And then you'd have extra money to buy other stuff! =D

I have a metronome/tuner and they're a great investment.
Plus I'm sure you can find a cheaper case, too.

Alucard the Dark one I agree with the person above me, cuz the tuner and stand are more usefull than the case, seince you already have one, but don't complain I play bari and contra bass saxophone, try carrying those cases around I feel your pain.
I play bari sax and bassoon. They're a b***h to carry around.
I would kill to play clarinet sometimes haha

Haha, I fell your guyses pain tooXD You have to realize I've played every instrument but trumpet, Basoon, baritone and tuba. Trombone and the saxes were the worst to carry aroundXD
Yeah, i could probably find a cheaper case. The main reaason I wanted this one is because it is fabric and pretty. A bit different then everyone elses plain old blackc ases. Also, all the cases at the particular store I was looking at were $40. Lame. I think I will check out the store I plan on getting the tuner/metronome from. It is extremly cheaper, though their stand selection is a bit dull. I mean, the metronome tuner combo at the case store was 447 at the cheapest, while at this other store it was only $15. Way too big a difference to have trouble deciding where to get it.

well you could also think if it this way. what will benifit you more? a tuner so you can be in tune with everyine around you, and a metronome so when those chair tests come you know exsactly what tempo you play best at. or a case so your hands won't hurt anymore?

Metro-Tuner and Stand. They prove more useful as necessities than wants if you've got a decent case. That'd be my thoughts though, then again I'd probably blow it on food lol.

I am going to my grandparents house on wednesday, and they tend to give us $20 for christmas. I am hoping I do, despite the fact that I am borrowing $400 from them for our trip to Disneyland(Which I have to pay back with some hard work over the summer. I don't mind, because I could probably get away with cooking and just a little bitt of helping my gpa outside, since he had his leg amputated and has a bit of trouble doing some stuff.) If I do get some money from them, no doubt I will go and get the case with my giftcard and the metro/tuner with their christmas money, and then i could even pay tax for the case instead of mooching off my parents for a few extra bucks I don't haveXD9which i actually do have since ym friend is paying me back for a lost book) Oh! That is another thing i forgot to add. I'm getting about $15 from my friend because he lost a book we are both interested in. He is paying me back for it, so that gives me a bit extra as well(though with that I will likely buy the next book in the series)

So, I decided I would get the tuner/metronome combo. I needed it, and now I can work on having correct tempos for my regionals auditions, as well as tuning my instruemtnXD
I'm still trying to decide whether or not to get a stand. I might end up getting an oboe reed instead(because sadly they cost about the same) since I am going to ask if I can play oboe in my second band. I tried playing clarinet, but the annoying freshman are forcing me anto second part which is easier then a Bb scale for me(bd won't let me play first either. it is annoying. Second and third are alright in the higher band, since it is 2 grades harder music in the first place, but second part on grade 2 is just too simple.)

I would kill to play clarinet sometimes haha I play both bassoon and clarinet! They get both pretty heavy to carry home with when youre walking!
