((Ice/Sajhiri, you know the drill heart ))
Aleric ignored the brisk winter wind as he headed towards Sajhiri's house. He had a small toy under his arm, one that Soho had picked out, and a slightly nervous look on his face. He was finally going to see Arae face to face.
It was so much easier writing than it was seeing face to face. But he was being foolish. He took a very calming breath and landed softly on the porch of the house. Then he glanced down at the stuffed penguin in his hold. A tiny laugh pulled at his lips as he shook his head.
It was the last time he let Soho do his shopping for him. But she had been so insistant that he hadn't had the heart to tell her that Arae most likely wasn't the... penguin type. Ice had saved him, though, whispering that she had sent another gift to Sajhiri as soon as she found out about his new relationship. He hoped they had gotten it.

A thump emitted from nearby as Averno landed on the porch. "Finally, loverboy gets it in gear. I thought you two might die of old age if you kept just writing to each other." She grinned.
"Your girlfriend is in the gardens, at the pond, ice skating. I have an aversion to bruising so she could use some company."
The darkness feien sauntered into the tower through a small door Sajhiri had installed just for the Feien and Silva Regia.

"Ice skating?" He asked belatedly. But she was gone before it came out, so he shrugged and took to the air to look for the gardens. He saw them after a few seconds, and headed for the small pond. Silva had gotten out the snowboard, but he hadn't said anything about ice skating. This would be... interesting.
He landed at the edge of the pond, waiting for her to notice him as he watched her skate. His breath hitched slightly at how beautiful she was. He had almost forgotten.

The ancient was sweeping across the frozen pond in swirls and twirls of elegant grace. Arae had managed to tie 'skates' to her feet, simple wads of cotton batting wrapped in Saran Wrap to keep her feet warm but her traction slick. She'd wrapped a thin strip of fuzzy "Santa fur" from a skirt Sajhiri had been making around her shoulders to keep her torso warm as she danced across the ice. Her hair whipped about her in the chill winds and her expression was transcendently joyful as she unfurled her wings to let the breeze propel her across the pond.
She'd yet to notice her suitor's arrival, and she was humming a holiday tune, her breath visible as she exhaled in the cold.

Resist was a wonderful thing, Aleric thought as he silently stepped onto the ice. Because even with it he was feeling a tiny bit chilled. But he didn't want to interrupt her fun. Not when she appeared to be so happy. He tried sliding in his bare feet, letting out a surprised laugh as they slipped out from underneath him and he fell backwards.
Still grinning he shoved himself back to his feet, bending his knees as Silva always yelled at him to do when surfing. He held out his arms to get a better balance, knowing he looked silly, but not too bothered by it.

Arae whirled at the sound of Aleric's surprised laugh, and her entire face lit up at the sight of him. She assisted his standing with a gentle gust of wind, directing it with a wave of her hand. She propelled herself over to where he was attempting to balance and offered her hands to him.
"It seems Christmas wishes DO come true, for I'd ardently been wishing to see you today, sweet Aleric!" Her smile was radiant.

He took her hands, still grinning happily. "And I you." He told her. "You're even more beautiful today than last time." He told her. "but I don't want to interrupt your fun! Maybe you can show me how not to fall?" If he could get this down he could show the boys and Soho! He was sure they would all enjoy a new sport.

Arae began to move backwards, carefully drawing him with her. "I shall do my best. For the most part, push one foot forward by turning your other foot sideways and propelling yourself off that. Try to keep your back straight, it will help you balance. And your wings can help a lot with that, which is an advantage we have over humans."
She watched him with a sweet expression of adoration on her face.

He started out, doing as she said, although a bit more awkwardly than she was doing. "I like sports." He told her. "But I never seem to catch on as quickly as the others do. Silva says we'll be using his surfboard for snowboarding. I'm looking forward to that."

"Surfboard? Snowboarding? I'm not sure what those things are. I was sleeping for so long...I think perhaps they came about when I was slumbering. They do sound like fun, though." Arae began to lead Aleric around the frozen pond slowly, giving him time to get his "ice legs" and find his center of balance.
"I have a gift for you. Well from Averno and I actually. It is something that belonged to her once, but she offered to let me give it to you, because I found it particularly fitting. I hope that does not offend."

"Gift? Oh! Right!" He said, so startled that his legs slipped out from under him again. He fell onto his bottom again, barely remembering to let go of her before he hit. Thankfully he was so tough that he didn't really notice. "I got you something as well, although I must admit, Soho chose it, so it's somewhat..." He paused, shaking his head. "Soho-ish." He finished. "I left it by the edge of the pond."

Arae knelt beside Aleric and she smiled softly, pushing his hair out of his eyes so she could look into them better. She leaned forward to press her lips to his forehead, her healing power flooding from her into him to ease any aches from the falls.
"Is that better?" She murmured quietly.

"Yes, thank you." He said, flushing ever so slightly. A tiny little smile pulled at his lips. "I'm afraid I'm so used to falling that I don't even notice half of the time. I'm extremely... resistant to pain." He got to his feet slowly, then took to the air slightly, so he wasn't likely to fall again. "I'll go get it, before the snow makes it too wet." He told her, heading for the toy left on the ground. He came back a few moments, holding out the penguin to her.  He probably should have kissed her, but if Silva was any indicator the penguin would have been soaked by the time they were done.

Arae beamed at the sight of the toy and she gathered it in her arms, cuddling it to her. "Oh it's adorable, Aleric! I saw penguins in the zoo once, they were so cute and they gathered in such a familial manner, it was heartwarming. It's perfect, thank you!" She kissed his cheek before holding up a finger. "I'll be right back."
She launched into the air and through a tower window, to return moments later with something in her arms. She handed it over. "The colors reminded me of you, and the snow, that it was Christmas time when you wrote your first letter to me." Her smile was warm and open.((It looks purpler on my monitor at home, it looks blue at work gonk ))

"It's beautiful, thank you." He said, shaking it. "I will treasure it." He smiled at her. "How have you been, Arae? It's been some time since we've gotten the chance to talk. Things have been... hectic, I'm afraid." He reached out to take her hand.
