Ubele sat upright on the ground, her body tense and rigid. Her eyes were open, gaze unwavering and yet, unfocused. Her jaw was tight, teeth clenched. It did not matter how many visions she had, Ubele always hated them. They could be very helpful and useful at times, yet she dreaded them all the same. She had not had one for quite some time, so she'd been surprised when she felt the familiar signs.
It had started out as a quite normal day. She'd been simply enjoying the sun, daydreaming lazily when they'd come. She was afraid the vision might mean some disaster for the pride, but it had turned out to be a lot more personal.
Peke, Ubele's closest friend besides her companion and her brother . . . he was . . . walking . . . smiling . . .
. . . . going to meet someone out near the border . . . to play?
A grey lioness . . . friendly and beautiful . . . he was going to meet her.
Ubele blinked a few times, confused by the vision. It hadn't shown any disaster or dire circumstance as her first visions had. Compared to those, this one didn't seem very important at all. Yet . . .
Ubele was a little shocked at the amount of emotion she was feeling at the vision. She frowned, even glared at the ground and found that she was filled with feelings of . . . jealousy? Could she really be jealous of this female that she'd never met? She had certainly heard Peke speak of Ethi before. He always spoke fondly of her and Ubele was sure that Ethi was as kind as Peke said. However, she couldn't help but be jealous. A part of her that she was beginning to come to turns with didn't want to share Peke with others. The selfish Ubele wanted him all to herself.
Ubele jumped quickly down from the rock, not giving herself time to think. She just ran to find him.
Peke was curled up in a ball around his bonded's body. He shifted uncomfortably in his sleep slowly stretching his body out away from the raven. His blue eyes fluttered open and he brought his head up with a start. His heart pounded in his chest as he glanced around almost nervous. His dream had been most upsetting, especially since he still couldn't separate dreams from visions despite how much he had grown.
His dream left him at a fork in the road with two choices in a situation he didn't want to pick. He sighed nosing the raven just enough so he woke. "I'm going to take a walk," he stated separating completely from the bird as he stood, stretched his limbs and let himself walk away. "You know how to find me," he called back without a second thought.
He pressed his lips together tightly as he let his mind wander as he set upon a course undecided.
Ubele was not sure where to begin searching for Peke. She could try his den, but she had a feeling that he would not be there. If he was walking, he was likely wandering around closer to the borderlands, but which way? Ubele wished that Huria was around, but her bonded was off hunting. Ubele would just have to trust her instincts.
Pausing to catch her breath, Ubele closed her eyes and focused on her vision, playing close attention to the surrounding environment, trying to see if she recognized something, anything . . . ah! Ubele saw a particular tree that she easily recognized.
Trusting in her instinct, Ubele hurried towards that particular spot, hoping she might catch him. Once there, she stood, panting for breath, gazing around to see if she spotted her dearest friend.
With heavy thoughts on his mind he did the first thing he could think of, head towards Ethi's den. Whenever he spent time with her, even when they talked about more...depressing topics...it turned silly and he found himself in a much better mood. A small smile crept across his lips as he trotted along still thinking about his dream. Was it a sign that he needed to be concerned about something? He shook his head, no he needed to think about something else. Something better. Yet he found his thoughts drifting back and forth between Ethiopia and Ubele.
"This is concerning..." He mumbled to himself keeping his gaze on the grass as it moved beneath him. So much to think about and so much need to not. He needed a good old fashion distraction.
