Howdy hoody! Ecko-san here.

Well, it's Dec. 21st again, and I'm wondering: Of the guild's members, which ones of you all celebrate the winter solstice? If you do, what sort of celebrations and rituals do you perform? Any particular details or differences in form from other rituals?

I celebrate the Solstice and Yuletide. I start with a blot to Frigg and all strong women on Mothernight the night before the Solstice. Then on Solstice itself I celebrate twice.

I celebrate once for the day itself for my religious witchcraft, and this is always on Solstice proper (the astronomical date) unless unavoidable. It involves the lighting of candles and dancing, and speaking at length about the day and communing with my deities. I'm thinking of incorporating in some sort of symbolic death by snuffing the candles next year, and symbolic rebirth/return of the sun by lighting them again afterwards.

...and I celebrate once for Yule where I blot to Odinn, and sometimes Thor and Freyr as well. Yuletide goes on for twelve days but as yet I haven't celebrated on all of them. But it does mean that if I don't manage to celebrate Yule on the Solstice I have twelve days to blot in whee At some point I'd like to hold vigil on the twelfth night until sunrise, but that's not always possible.

Of course, at this time of year I'm celebrating Midsummer wink I'll be holding ritual tonight for the Solstice and tomorrow I'll blot for Midsummer. I'm actually unsure who I'll be honouring at this point. Quite possibly Sunna, Freyr.... I'd honour Baldr but I'm kinda unsure on that. If he is actually dead I don't want to offend him. He seems hard to offend but I'm not sure how he feels about those who honour Loki.

Haha, it's always interesting to hear about the interplay of the Norse deities in worship. I'd like to study Asatru a bit more if for nothing else than to simply learn, though unfortunately I currently don't have the time for it. I'm in the middle of a move and it's all my wife and I can do.
Fortunately, I'll have some time to honor the season turn tomorrow, and I think I'll bless our new home as well. About four months ago, I performed a ritual for guidance in finding a new home when our lease was up, involving burning a candle all the way down. The next day, my father called me and offered to help us purchase a new trailer to move onto my father-in-law's land, and I kept the small glass dish that I used to hold the candle I burned down and I set it out on display in the kitchen. I want to show that I appreciated the help, so I may try to involve the little glass dish in the rite, though I'm not sure yet how to incorporate it. ^^
