A splash of fruit juice...
FLOOSH~
A dash of ground seed...
Shhh~
A gentle stir and a squeeze of tree frog bile...
Sss, SPLOIT!
And a--...Damn, where had he put his flower petals? He had so many in one place at one time, it really was quite unorganized of Idili'su. But that was normally how he was. His organiziation was quite different from someone else's "proper" way of organization. He had a pile of things mixed over here, a bundle there, a cluster over by the tree trunks...but he knew where everthing was regardless of that.
...Well, except sometimes...like now.
"s**t." Idili'su cursed angrily under his breath, fangs bared in a frustrated snarl. He slashed his paws through what looked to be a pile of rubbish, nosing about hastily as he searched for something. It wasn't like him to get so worked up, and especially wasn't like him to use such foul language. He was just in one of those moods. It had been one of those days, too. Things had finally begun to look up once the sun had settled below the horizon. His experiments had been going so, so nicely. Everything had been going well...except for now. He was not in the mood for things to go downhill again.
"Where are those DAMNED PETALTH?!" Idili'su screamed, knocking over several water-filled bark shells in his furious searching.

"Su su su~" Gogo sang softly through the screaming curses nearby. Her eyes were closed as she laid on her back, tail swishing slowly to the beat of her child-like song. The grumbling and shouted questions were a regular sound to the brown ears of the leopardess. Anyone else would be uncomfortable or defensive around such a display, but Gogo found it strangely comforting. It was familiar and soothing to her.
Idili'su was her favorite creature, after all.
"Suuuuu~uuu~uuu~..."
...DAMNED PETALTH?!
Gogo opened her eyes in a flash and rolled to her feet, pausing a moment to let her eyes focus. She stood to move, back feet slipping in the mud a bit (she had a habit of playing in mud,) and trotted over to the white lion. Without even pausing, or seeming to flinch beside him as he turned things over in his frenzied search, Gogo attempted to jump over his back, failed and nearly knocked Idili'su over, then she dove behind a pile of rocks and plants. When she came back around, her mouth was full of flowers, and she was kicking petals towards the male.

The red-maned lion had near completely forgotten about his strange "companion" in his fit of searching that he almost screamed with shock when a brown blur of stockiness hobbled over his back and just about made him fall over.
"WHAT--" the male seized, catching himself just before he fell over. He whipped around, jaw agape and ears folded.
...Oh...
GOGO...
Face curling into a snarl, Idili'su opened his mouth to shout at the round-faced female, but stopped short when a flash of color met his blue eyes. Pinks, purples, yellows, oranges...her mouth was full of flowers, and her stocky legs were shuffling petals in his direction. So what was this, some...some...some kind of...GESTURE OF HELP? THAT would certainly be the day! Gogo? Helping HIM? PAH.
...Then again, he did have a dream where she--
NO. SHE WAS A NUISANCE.
His expression relaxed, but his eyes still narrowed. He supposed a word of thanks was in order...Ugh...
"Thank...you." the male said stiffly, unused to such phrases, especially towards Gogo. He moved forward and began collecting the petals to himself as quickly as possible, not wishing to be close to the female any longer than was absolutely necessary.

Gogo dropped the petals down at Idili'su's paws, grinning from ear to ear at the thanks she received. Her eyes were practically glowing from happiness as she squinted with glee at the male.
She'd been coming to see the white lion every day since she was a cub. She knew him better than she knew anybody, and she sometimes felt that he knew her just as well. Recently she had been trying to help him out more and more. Before, she was just interested in what he was doing. She would look over his shoulder and watch the reactions certain elements had to one another...and she learned a lot. She was quite a smart leopardess thanks to him, whether he knew it or not. He wasn't like her--never smiled at her or played games with her, but she knew that if he really hated her like he used to say, then he would've really made her leave a long time ago. Right? 'cause he was strong and smart and could make a poison for her or something, right?
RIGHT?!
...Uh, duh? Of course that was right. They were gonna be together forever, after all!
"YOU'RE WELCOME, SHISHI~!" Gogo chimed, tail coiling behind her. Then, strangely, the leopardess bounded out of sight.

Idili'su blinked.
She just...bounded off?
Huh...that was...strange.
Shaking it off, the male went back to his work. He finished collecting petals and swiftly turned back to his potions.
Now where was he....Tree frog's bile, yes! Alright, so now the petals. Not waiting another moment, the lion snatched some up in his paws and gazed down at the pool of liquid, face expressionless and ears erect. He slowly opened his paw, a rainbow of petals gently falling into the liquid and creating tiny ripples. The ripples ceased, and the petals disappeared beneath the green surface. Now the green liquid was a deep eggplant color, and Idili'su grinned.
"THERE!" he shouted happily, his mood completely flipping over. Now he just needed a good paw-full of grasshopper wings and he'd--...oh, blast. Where had he put those wings? They had been there a second ago.... Shifting away from his work with a scowl, the young adult prepared for another bout of searching. But he stopped short...his face was pensive, eyes wavering before him on nothing but air.
"...Gogo..." he said quietly, gazing ahead. He paused. He thought.
"...Bring me a paw-full of grathhopper wings."

The brown and white leopardess had been keeping herself busy making mud pies. They weren't mud pies, though. They weren't even pies. They were SOULS. She was a collector of souls, after all. Everyone knew that. Or...did they? Wait, they didn't...because it was a SECRET.
Giggling, the leopardess carefully rolled mud in circular motions, slapping it a bit to get the shape right. She was smiling blissfully, seeming to not have a care in the world. She felt completely safe and at home, especially with the smells of Idili'su's ingredients, and the sounds of things mixing together...especially the sound of Idili'su's voice as he muttered things to himself now and--
Gogo...
Gogo's head jerked up, her expression a bit like a startled deer. Her eyes found the white body of the male lion and she stared intently. Her ears quivered at his request, and the leopardess was up in an instant, headed towards where "Shishi" kept his grasshopper wings. She hummed to herself as she dug her arms into a deep wooden shell full of wings, claws scraping about until she managed to grab a paw-full. Then she backed up and hobbled towards the lion on three legs, looking very much happy to be of help. She placed the wings carefully at the red paws of the lion, then leaped back to her mud pies and out of sight.

The white lion didn't move an inch as he observed the leopardess in action, stocky arms sticking about. He was both fascinated and hesitant. He was curious. He was disturbed. He wondered if he was making a mistake. Why put Gogo to use? She was always getting in his way. ...Well, she used to get in his way quite a bit. Lately, she hadn't been. She'd...hm, calmed down? Perhaps it was age? Or perhaps it was his own influence which had altered her behavior? Either way, she was no longer quite so spazzy as she once had been. She was strange, yes, absurd in nearly every way. Not at all like any other creature Idili'su had (unfortunately) encountered.
The lion dropped the shimmering wings into his potion, blue eyes listless and maw hard as he watched them flutter down and sink. Then it was with a knot in his stomach that Idili'su had come to a shocking discovery.
He was...used to Gogo.
Turning his head, the male cast a glance at the cluster of trees Gogo was lying down by. All he could see of her were her heels and flicking tail. That was all. But that was enough. Strangely, he had become accustomed to her always being around...she was the only one. He had moved on from his family, and they from him. Without Gogo, he would've been completely alone a long, long, long time ago...
Not that he particularly cared. That would be a laugh...
Silently, pensively, Idili'su returned to his work, no longer mumbling to himself.

"Soooo many souuuuuuls...OoOoOoOo~" the leopardess wailed in a muffled voice, ears folding in her feigned anguish. She proceeded to slap at a dozen or so mud pies in turn, bits of mud flying up and dotting the white fur on her face and neck. Her grieved face slipped and she grinned, lower jaw jutting out in her under-bite. It left one to question if the leopardess enjoyed playing with mud a little too much. But Gogo was the innocent type, always utilizing her vivid imagination into games and stories and interesting scenarios.
Yawning, the leopardess stood up and wandered away from her mud pies, no longer interested. She curved around a pile of ingredients and made her way towards Idili'su. She smiled at him as if she was just greeting him, sat down and closed her eyes. Her head bobbed and it appeared as though she were nodding off while sitting. It was hard to tell if she was really sleeping, or pretending.
"Shiiiishiiii..." Gogo murmured, "sleep-talking."

Idili'su shot a glare towards the leopardess, still angry with that nickname despite how long Gogo had been calling him that.
"Be quiet, fool." he snapped, eager to get back to his work in silence, He had inwardly groaned at the sight of the stocky creature hobbling over to him and making herself comfortable right on her rump, just a couple of feet away from him. She had been helpful before, but of course he should've had suspicions that it wouldn't last long...of course she would come over to muck things up. So perhaps he was the fool, not her.
"Pick your bum up and go back to where you were." the male growled quietly, not nearly as frustrated with her actions as he once had been as a young boy. But he couldn't help but keep wondering if that was a good thing or a bad thing. Why did she keep coming around to see him? Was she really that interested in him? Did she really...well...he didn't want to think too in-depth. Thinking too deeply made him feel...odd.
...But why did it?
Glaring harder, anger rising, Idili'su continued with his potion-making, wondering quickly what ingredient he needed next--anything, ANYTHING to make him stop thinking.

Gogo cracked an eye open, unstoppable curiosity taking over her. She wanted to know what he was doing, why, and how, all the time. She just couldn't help it.
After a moment, she decided he was wondering what else to put into his little mixture. He already had several things in it, including the freshly-added grasshopper wings. And if Gogo had the guts, she would've suggested some things to her friend. She would've inquired if he had any watering hole scum to add? Of course, she knew he did have watering hole scum. But she wouldn't let him know, because he always liked to be the one to know things. If she had the guts...she was just an "empty-headed twit."
...But maybe that only applied to when she was little? Gogo knew many things now. And perhaps...perhaps she did have the guts after all?
"Hey, Shishi," she ventured delicately, as if approaching a difficult subject. But she was, wasn't she? "Whaaaaat abouuuuuut..." but she stopped herself short. She wouldn't tell him what to put in it. She wasn't as good as him, and he lived for experimenting...so who was she to suggest ingredients? She should make her own potion on her own time. For now, she would just help him. For now, she would be the one to grab him things from his piles to make his work a little easier.
For now.
"Gogo can get stuff for you..." she suggested in a child-like manner, eyes wide and eager to help.

Her voice was like claws inside his ears, and Idili'su cringed. Why couldn't she just leave him ALONE so he could get on with his work? Why did she continue pestering him and speaking with him and following him and constantly taking his attention away from his work and onto her? She was a stupid, awkward-looking adolescent of a leopard, and he was sick of her. But he didn't want her to go away. But he wanted her to be quiet. And he wasn't sick of her, he was used to her and didn't entirely hate her, because sometimes she was helpful, and perhaps she served more purposes to him than he was quite aware of, and she wasn't entirely stupid and was actually smart, and she was never mean or cruel to him and never shouted, and actually had a pleasant sort of sparkle to herWHAT WAS HE THINKING?!
WHAT?!
WHAT?!?
Idili'su veered around to face two wide, amber-colored eyes, suddenly breathing heavily as if he had just participated in an energy-taxing activity.
"YOU?!" he screeched. "Help ME? Like thome...thome thort of ATHITHTANT?!"
A wave of memories washed over Idili'su as those words passed his lips, a kind of horror and realization seizing his mind. He thought back to when he was younger, no more than a juvenile. He had a dream that he was older and Gogo was...well, older, and...prettier--well, she was...sort of pretty NOW, butNONONO she was fat and stupid, but he had had a dream that she...was his...assistant. His...aid. She was her absurd self, yet she knew what she was doing and the names and places of each of the things he required. She was quite a help in that dream. Idili'su had desperately longed for someone like that in his youth, but he had never found such a creature. And the horror he felt before was that he realized such a creature had found him.
Heart pounding and eyes tense in his thoughts, Idili'su avoided Gogo's gaze for a moment, still wondering what he was going to do. He couldn't decide. His head was full of memories and what-ifs and disgust and acceptance and want and then disgust for that want.
Then he looked up. Blue met amber, and Idili'su narrowed his eyes for a moment. But his look vanished shortly. His eyebrows lifted into a haughty expression, and the lion felt his tail move behind him. She wanted to waste her time helping him, fine. But it was her idea, not his. He didn't have a part in it. It was all her fault. He didn't even want her to be his assistant or anything even...even close, he just wanted her to leave. Hmph. Yes.
"Very well," the lion said strongly, adjusting his posture. "Get me--"
He was promptly tackled before he could finish.
