Gah! Why was he outside again when he should be sweating away in the shop? Dad or Mom both would bust his hide if they realized he had left a perfect piece of iron melting over the fire. Raiden groaned, but that punishment was far better than the possible loss of his sister.
This was the third week of him foiling her 'hired help' plans. It was surprisingly easy to see how many taurs were turned off by his stories from the shadows. The teen especially enjoyed the ones he told the lust driven males about his sister. Heh! A transvestite canaballistic enuch making centaur was fun stuff.
Raiden's thoughts stilled as he leaned against the alley wall. This was usually where she went to stalk the crowds. This was were he always ruined her plans. Hell, better to dissapoint a sister than to have a pms mother running rampant after him. Especially a mother who was a blacksmith with a terrifying temper to boot. Raiden shivered, no way was he going to suffer that torment!

Khalidah stomped her hoof against the cobblestones in frustration. Nothing was going as planned. She looked fervently across the alleyway to see where that man had run off to, but she didn't see a soul. Damn it, why did they keep disappearing? How the hell was she supposed to get out of here without some help?
It wasn't like she was asking for volunteers. She had gold. It shouldn't be this hard. The teen wrapped her arms around herself and huddled against the wall out of the current of a sharp breeze. Her parents just didn't understand that when a knight had to leave for training, she just had to leave. People didn't save themselves!
Her large equine ears pricked up at the sound of hoof falls and before she turned she was already charging her brother. "RAIDEN! What the hell are you doing out here?" Thats when it hit her. It was him. The careful son, the dutiful boy who didn't want to take any blame on himself when he could save his sister weeks of punishment. She shook her fist at him as she approached the lip of the alley. "I'll leave one way or another! Don't you want me to at least have some back up or would you rather me be alone?"

Sorting through the town, Tzeitel held up a blanket, scrutinizing it with a sharp eye. She seemed pleased, but then her eye caught the price tag. Her face fell and she shook her head, folding it back neatly and replacing it. "So expensive." She muttered, picking up a cheaper blanket. Not badly made, but not quality like the other. "I'll take-" She yelped when a hand smacked the lesser blanket away, pushing the nicer blanket into her hands. "Aaron! When did you-?!"
"She'll take this one!" Aaron said, a proud smirk on his face as he looked at the shop keeper, ignoring Tzeitel's irritated scolding. "Oh, stop you goose. I happen to know you need this blanket. Consider it... a late birthday present." He said with a laugh. No matter that he called everything he bought her late birthday presents, a fact that she knew and was scolding him for as well, despite clinging the new blanket to her chest. "Come on. Lets go find what else ya need. What else I need too."

Raiden's fist smacked the wooden posts of a stand selling blankets as he glared back at his sister. "What the hell, Khali?!" The teen snorted obviously not caring whether others heard him or not. Sometimes the famous temper of Storm showed easily in his son...to easily. "Back up! Hah!"
He paused fighting to calm down the boiling rage created by worry and agravation that was rising, "Half of those guys you tried to 'hire' were no better than male prostitutes or rapists!" His fists clenched, "I mean seriously, how stupid can you be? Do you even look closely at these taurs? Pfft, probably not!"
Raiden raked a hand through his hair as he gazed away from his sister, "I mean, Khali...jeez. Seriously, what do you think this adventure will accomplish? It's not like you're going to save the world by leaving."
The teenager shrugged, "But fine! I mean if you're so set on leaving and having Mom and Dad go into a fit of worry that'll turn into a tempest of rage then alright!" His eyes darted to the stall he had previously punched and Raiden moved to grab a blanket.
"Excuse me miss." He passed Tzeitel and threw a coin to the vender as he casually picked up a woolen blanket fit for travel. With a thrust he tossed it at Khalidah, "Here, at least you won't freeze to death." He snorted, she probably didn't even have anything packed.

Khalidah's cheeks burned. She reached out to publicly smack him across the cheek. "How can you say that when you know how much this means to me?" She seethed. It hurt her pride move to acknowledge he was right than the situation they were in. Her denim eyes filtered to blanket stand. "Money can buy me what I need and when my name spreads noble souls will join me." She pouted with a huff. "Then we'll save good people from poverty and pain so they don't have to put up with lame a** brothers like you." Khaliday stuck her tongue out at him in an attempt to calm herself. She'd already shamed her family by causing such a scene. She just hoped her mother wasn't waiting around the corner.
"Oof!" The blanket smacked her in the face and she scrambled to fold it back up. When her arms were situated in the woolen wad she glared at her brother. "Thank you, dearest brother." Khalidah batted her eyes as a twitch started in the corner of her eye. Doofus, she cackled mentally. If only you knew that your blanket was already in my pack! And your pillow, favorite cup and even your best gloves!

About to complain more about Aaron buying her things, Tzeitel was distracted by the youth pushing past her for a blanket. Frowning, she followed him with her eyes as he stalked back through the crowd, throwing the blanket at a girl his age. They seemed to be arguing. "Aaron." She said, walking after the teens silently. What was that they were saying? Freezing to death?
Aaron turned to see what was keeping Tzeitel and frowned as well. Ah! Siblings quarreling. He shook his head with a chuckle. "Oh, don't worry yourself. They just- Hey! That's not your business! Hey, Nosey!" He snorted as he went after the female. Siblings fought all the time. What was the big deal that his day had to be interrupted by it?

That stung! Raiden's eyes widened in surprise as he nearly gaped at his sister. But his hand unclenched to touch his flushed skin. Instead of a yell a soft look of surprise made the teen look completely flustered.
"Money doesn't always buy everything you want, Khali." His tone was suddenly soft and laced with hurt. That slap had driven out the urge to yell...for now. But suddenly the fire was back. Lame - lame brothers?! Like him?! Raiden only shook his head, "Well jeez, I'm so glad that you feel that way. Cuz this lame brother doesn't really feel like he needs a sister at the moment."
Raiden's eyes narrowed. Why did he suddenly feel like searching his sister? But with a sigh the centaur just turned away - right smack into a female. "Oh!" With surprise he backed up - right into Khalidah.
A curse flew from his lips as he went toppling backwards.

Khalidah stomped her hooves on the pavement like a bucking broncho. She even breighed like one. "OOooooohh, I could just murder you right now. Why don't you just leave me the hell alone if you don't want me? Huh? Huh?" At the moment she reached out to grab his shoulder in her claws he starting falling back into her. She screamed and flailed, though it did her little use when her back slammed against the cobblestones. Khalidah moaned. "Oww, I think I bit my tongue." The teenager stuck it out. Her elbow's supported her on either side and when she looked she noticed that Raiden was nestled on her stomach. "Get off of meeeee!" She enuciated each word with a united kick of her legs. When he didn't move Khalidah turned her attentions to the woman he ran into.
She had the good graces to blush. "Sorry! I'm very sorry. So, so very sorry. My brother's a little special and he doesn't know where he is half the time."

Tzeitel gasped when the boy ran into her, jumping forward as he toppled into the girl, who appeared to be his sister, nothing but concern on her face. "Goodness you two!" Without much thought, she grabbed the boy by his arms and easily yanked him to his hooves, brushing his shoulders, watching Aaron help the girl. "What's a dashing young man like yourself making such a fuss in the streets for?" She asked in her best trustworthy big sister voice.
Aaron smacked his palm to his face. Tzeitel sure knew who to pick to follow... Realizing the teens were falling he rushed forward, waiting for the boy to be lifted before reaching out to carefully pick up the fallen girl, holding chin in his hand to check the teeth offended tongue. "There now. Are you all right? I don't see any bleeding."

Special? Coming from Khalidah! If Raiden wasn't so embarressed at the scene he had caused with his sister, he would be laughing at that comment. "You can ask her." He muttered shooting daggers at his sister. Jeez, at least he had gotten in the elbow to the gut before being pulled up.
Raiden suddenly blinked as he realized that there were two strangers helping them. Or at least interfering with a lately normal argument streak. Flushing the teenager moved a bit from the woman and brushed at his back. He winced at the painful signs of future bruises that the fall had given him.
He tried crossing his arms in an attempt to look casual. "It wasn't that big of a fuss, miss." Raiden commented staring to the side. Out of all times to be chastized by some strange, though attractive female. Like those two even understood the troubles his sister was trying to cause!

Khalidah grunted at her brother's low blow. She'd meant to kick him square in the spine when the heaven's opened. The teenager felt her cheeks burning again. It was hard to look away from him, but it was harder to breath when he held her chin in his. "Thanks, but I'm fine. Just a little banged up, is all." She straightened herself up and bent down to retrieve her blanket from the ground. Carefully she unfolded the soggy mess before wringing the water out. It was such a shame. Even angry as he was and subconsciously to boot he'd picked such a pretty blanket.

Tzeitel looked between the siblings, a small sigh slipping through her lips. "It was enough to distract you from noticing those around you." She said, tilting her head slightly. "You're both okay though? I can get some ice if you need it for a sore spot? That seemed like a hard fall after all." Raiden's cheek was turning red from the slap, finger marks becoming obvious. She narrowed her eyes in irritation, her fists going to her hips. Hitting had not been allowed in her family. "Now what in these isles would justify such a disgraceful ruckus between you two?"
Aaron tilted his head and smiled. "Aw, don't worry about that. There's a cleaner in here somewhere who can clean that right up for you. They'll be careful about it, no stretching, and-" He perked his ears when Tzeitel raised her voice slightly. His green eyes slid over to look at her. Yep, something had offended her. "Don't lose your head there." He said lightly, looking at Tzeitel while placing a comforting hand on the teen girl's shoulder. "They have their reasons, I'm sure." Now he looked at Khali with a grin, hoping to keep the teens calm. "Right?"

Raiden just stared at the centauress. It was a mixture of embarrassment and awe that slowed down the usual sharp tongue and even gave him enough time to halt the stinging comments. "I'm fine." He rubbed his arms, unconsciously flexing the hard earned muscles from working in the smithy.
Her next question took him by complete surprise. A taur actually asking what was up between him and his sister?! Raiden looked closer at this centauress, 'She must be new.'
No one in the town who knew of their family would ask. Not like their family was a trouble making one...they just always kept to themselves mostly. Especially their father. And then to say disgraceful! Well...Raiden grinned faintly as he reflected. It kinda was disgraceful looking. But justified it was!
"Plenty." He replied bitterly looking back at his sister. "She's trying to get herself killed and I was caught foiling her plans." It was slightly true, an adventure with a stranger could kill someone. Especially an overly trusting taur.
Raiden's gaze went to the male. Fury was boiling in his glare as he noted how friendly the centaur was to his sister. Out of all the things to happen, he really didn't know how to take this. "Now if you'll excuse us. Khali and I should be getting home." He muttered, half hoping that for once his sister wouldn't argue.
He should have known better though.

Khalidah brightened. "Thats wonderful. Hopefully it's not to late to have it cleaned before I depart." Her ears followed Aaron's to the female and immediately flattened back. She felt a little sheepish for fighting with her brother in public. Her dark eyes snapped open to look at the male's hand, then to his eyes and she nodded with a smile. "Of course. I didn't mean to cause a scene, but it would have all been under wraps if it wasn't for dopey over there."
She nodded towards Raiden. "I'm not going to get myself killed! I've been practicing for months on my swordsmanship and I can protect myself just fine." The teenager puffed herself up with a snort. She stomped her forehooves on the pavement, cocked an eyebrow up and laid into him. "Excuse me, but your not dad. You can't tell me where to go. All of my things have been moved to the inn on the West side of town and as of now I no longer live here." She flipped her tail proudly. The move had been tricky, since their home was the smithy itself and her parents worked so much, but she'd done it this morning with her hired help. Probably the same men Raiden had run off.

Tzeitel nodded, certain now that there was no serious injury to either teen. At least, not physical injury. Still miffed at the fresh slap mark on the boy's face, she gave a soft snort. How could they expect her to just let them leave when someone was apparently about to get her self killed?! "Well, cause a scene you did, and-" Before she could get herself into trouble, Aaron jumped in.
Aaron nodded his head. "I'm sure it'll be fi- depart?" Aaron frowned, listening to the teens go back and forth. It really wasn't his place, but this didn't sound very good. Still, he tried to be encouraging, seeing Tzeitel was about ready to grab the teens by their ears, probably to drag them back to wherever their home was. "My apologies, but I'm afraid it'd be wrong of us as adults to allow you two to head off alone. Especially if something dangerous is planned. I'd feel better if we could escort you to your home. Or... homes?"
