User ImageShora Stromsten had always loved the landscape around New Helic City: while not as forested as Guygalos’ hinterland, the swathes of wildgrass and rocky crags and mountains in the distance where still a sight to see. Further to the north were the famous Ethen Mountains, and if the Private turned her Zoid to the southeast, she could just barely make out the form of Mount Osa in the distance. Beyond that, she had only ever heard of what was there: the Valley of the Rare-Hertz and eventually the Elemia Desert.

However today, the scenery was not what was on the cade - I mean, Private’s, “Man that’s gonna take getting used to!” she thought – mind right now. The grass had been trampled into a green mush over the past few days by a Whale King-load of Zoids, and even now a group of at least four Godos and a Gordos where ambling about rather pointlessly around her own Snipe Master. Since what had happened during the Formal, security had been thrown up a couple of notches, ruining the peace of the wilderness with the tense feeling that you were constantly being watched.

Even without this adding to things Shora was a bit on the jumpy side. As soon as everything had been cleared up, it was back to normal life almost the next day. She and about four other cadets had suddenly been given their final ‘exams’ for no particular reason and when they weren’t due for months yet to come, and with the events of the formal still fresh on their minds only two of them had managed to pass by a fingernail.

Now she and the other one – name was apparently Ben or something else generic – in the Gordos were meant to be giving orders to the cadets in the much smaller Zoids, but frankly neither of them knew what to do other than ‘stay where we are’ and ‘keep an eye on the horizon’.

And since when did Private’s give orders anyway?

((EDIT: Added cert. And SHUT UP about the rank on it, it hasn't been updated yet and GS is more than aloud to take their time!))

Things were still rather high strung around the base, though Chase couldn't really blame anyone with the fact that there was an assassination attempt and all. Still it didn't mean he exactly liked all the tension. In any case, he wondered if anyone knew who the responsible party behind the attack was. He had only heard light rumors; none which gave much of an idea of what was going on.

In any case, there he was, sitting in Aegis's cockpit while staring out in the horizon. He hadn't really gotten any orders just yet, but he supposed they were supposed to keep an eye out for anything suspicious. But... maybe it would be a good idea to at least ask.

"Excuse me.. Private Stromsten?" he started, "But.. what exactly are we looking for?"

User Image Ares waited on an incline behind the line of gordos. It was another patrol, they were to wait here for who knows how long until it was time for the battalion to leave and another to take it's place.

Lorna watched the horizon. It was going to be another long day. Too bad. She had wanted to do a bit more maintenance on Ares. As Lorna looked over the battalion a familiar liger caught her eye. It was Aegis. The cadet she had met a few days ago was here as well, there was also a snipe master, who Lorna assumed was one of the Private's giving the orders to the cadets.

Lorna waited quietly and patiently abiding by orders without complaint or question. After all that's all you could do.

Shora was in the middle of a somewhat impolite yawn when her intercom suddenly piqued up, causing the pilot to jump in her seat and cough. Over the hour or so that she and ‘Ben’ had been sat here, they obviously hadn’t noticed the addition of a Gun Sniper and two Shield Ligers – a stock one and another with a white-with-blue-stripes colour-scheme - to the group.

“Um, excuse me... Private Stromsten? But... What exactly are we looking for?” She blinked, then began going over her instruments to try and find which Zoid had broadcast the message. A bit slow to find the right display, she finally found out that it had been one of the Shield Ligers.

She flipped open a public channel, and was perfectly honest.

“I’m not entirely sure really. Our orders were just to keep an eye out for anything suspicious.”

The other Private decided to add to that.

“She’s right. My guess’n would be that after the gunman was arrested his colleges might show up to try and bust ‘im out or something, so we’re keeping a tight perimeter.”

“Agreed, though you’d think they would have someone of higher rank, and I don't know, maybe experience to do so, right?” before speaking up, Shora made sure to change her intercom settings so that only Ben could hear that one. She then went back onto the public broadcast, hoping that she had used the correct settings to avoid that jest getting out to the masses.

“Well, how about we try to keep ourselves occupied then? I spy a high-quality Gun Sniper in the back row there; we could probably use our scopes to scan the mountain ranges better. There aren’t many places to hide down near Mount Osa either, that’s all just one big, black, hardened lava field.” She clicked her tongue and waited for any replies, more in annoyance at the authority (or lack thereof) in her voice than any of the gathered people.

((If anyone wants to bring in a rogue character or some NPCs and attack us or something, feel free to! *winks*))

This was a crazy mission. Or partial mission. Again...why did he get the missions where it was all hush hush? First it had been the scouting that turned into an international clash, and now this! A obvious international clash with a side of heavy politics and possible death.

Not to mention there was a 'sleeping' MRZ on his lap that was making a noise that was quite not unlike purring of a cat. Though... the creature was the size of a medium dog that seemed to think it was the size of a small cat. It made the cockpit cramped, and Talon Beauregard swore his legs were falling asleep..or would have been if he hadn't been using them at the moment. Moe, despite this, was beloved greatly and was tolerated.

The mighty Green and Black Tyrant on the other hand was grateful to be out of the hanger. The fact that it was deep in enemy territory wasn't computing. Oh...well, it was, but it was being very polite and not making rude comments.

As Talon approached the capital city, he noted more and more Zoids. More and more Zoids that could, possibly totally rip his beloved Tyrant to shreds. This was unsettling. He pulled the controls of the raptor to a halt as he rummaged around Moe for his briefing papers...and the letters he needed to deliver to the President's office from the Emperor's.

"Well....Lets see where I'm supposed to go again shall we?" he grumbled to the two AIs. Moe purred louder and tried to peer at the paperwork as well, but its big head got in the way so it went back to pretending to be a small lap cat. Green Tyrant on the other hand gave out a sigh of a hiss. "Some parliamentary square thingy... If its near a big clock, we're going to get lost for sure. " The Tyrant growled and seemed to snort its displeasure of the word 'lost'. "No! I'm not going to hail another and ask for directions! They could riddle us filled with bullets before even hearing us out!" the pilot retorted, "I, for one, enjoy not being holey. "

The massive reptile Zoid shifted from foot to foot. It was a sitting duck out here with its unusual coloration. It stood out clearly and probably would be picked up on radar soon enough. After all, they were standing about three hundred miles outside of the major city. And what with the recent attack, no doubt the security would be upped...Meaning it would be harder to explain why it was here...stories would no doubt start circulating if they were spotted.

Thera and her Liger, Spirit walked slowly to where the cadets were gathering. She was fully aware that the person in control was a cadet recently taken up to the rank of private. It was strange that the private was handing out orders but she couldn't do anything because she was reported AWOL at the formal. She and Spirit hadn't recovered yet. They were technically still in trouble as well, it didn't help that the base was now so intensely on guard either. She barely got to sleep anymore with trying to help guard and redeem herself for going missing during the formal.

She got in range to hear the orders just in time. She maneuvered her liger next to the other ones. "Cadet Thera Nightblood, Reporting for duty. So about being tardy," she said announcing her presense to the privates and accidentally the other people present. Just about then she saw a blip on her ligers radar. She looked p and saw a figure standing in the distance. She zoomed the image in a bit and saw what looked like a Rev Raptor... Wait Raptors are from the Empire. "Hey anyone notice something strange with that zoid?" She asked Moving the liger a few steps in the direction of the raptor. Upon closer inspection she decided to go check it out

"Roger that."

The response was more or less what he had expected, but at least he had some confirmation on it now. In any case, it meant they had to be pretty vigilant, even if nothing showed up today. As far as that went, he had some mixed feelings. It would be nice to get some action with Aegis, but at the same time it really wouldn't be a good thing for them to be under attack.

Glancing around at the others, Chase noticed Ares with them, along with two other shield ligers. The one that just arrived also noted the Rev Raptor that was headed in their direction.

Turning to see the figure exactly, he did find something odd about the approaching zoid.

"A little... It's green. That's not Imperial uniform colors."

Did they have a rogue on their hands here? But if so, what was a rev raptor doing by itself?

"Thera, wait! It might be a trap! There's only one.. what if others are around waiting to launch an ambush or something?"
PostPosted: Sun Dec 20, 2009 1:04 pm

Lorna heard shora address her an Ares "Roger that." Lorna responded simply as Ares turned revealing the large gun and scope on it's tail, and the reason the Gun sniper had gotten it's name. Are's anchored it's stabilizers to the ground and Lorna adjusted to use the Gun Sniper as it had been intended.

Lorna instantly looked for the bright green Rev raptor. sure enough there it was... a lone rev raptor. Lorna wasn't sure what to make of it. It was probably just a rogue or something. But what was he doing being foolish enough to come near the capital.

And off a liger went. Didn't she know to wait for orders? Lorna let a sigh escape her. "Private Shora, what would you like me to do?" she had the raptor in her sights, she could easily immobilize it from here, but now they had the issue of the other liger. That thing was no doubt going to spook the raptor into retreating and she'd never get a clear shot on it.

Shora almost had to physically slap herself over the head to remove the giddiness from having someone reply to her of all people with a Roger. She also found herself grinning as the Gun Sniper LT flipped around and anchored itself into the ground, the tail segments adjusting and extending to reveal the deadly sniper rifle.

“Just stay there for now; we can use your rifle as a scare tactic!”

And then a Shield Liger suddenly bounded off, knocking the sense back out of her.

“Hey! Wait a moment! What the guy in the other Liger said!” – she cringed, immediately putting it high on her priority list to get the names of the other pilots around her as soon as she could – “If it is a trap, your Shield will only hold up for so long, Cadet!”

Ben’s Gordos lumbered up next to her, letting out a high pitched roar.

“Cadet Thera Nightblood was it? Please, don’t be so reckless! If I feel the need for everyone to charge in, I’ll let you know!” the other Private was as clueless as she was, but Shora couldn’t help but sigh silently in relief. His order had sounded much less like a threat than hers. He continued, “Now, a green Rev Raptor? Definitely does sound a like a rogue. Shora, isn’t your Zoid able to home into radiofrequency exchanges?”

“Affirmative. It can pin-point other Zoids communicating over certain channels. I’m assuming you want me to see if they have any allies nearby its pilot may be chatting with?”

“Spot-on.”

Shora set to work, hitting a number of the buttons on the console and shifting controls around. On the outside, the large fin of metal on the Snipe Master’s head began to glow in a similar fashion to an Energy Shield Generator, as the multitude of delicate electronics housed in it got to work.

The result was... Rather baffling really.

“Ah yeah... I’m not picking anything up. That guy’s genuinely on his own!”

“He... What?”

There was a long pause, then Shora decided to blurt something out before the cadets picked up on how dumbfounded they were.

“Okay, I’m going to contact them and see what’s up. If they are a rogue, I give everyone permission to be trigger-happy,” she flicked open a switch on the communications panel, routing through the sensory equipment to contact the Rev Raptor. She paused, still not entirely sure what the proper etiquette for this type of situation was.

“This is the Republican Army requesting your name, affiliation and purpose for your presence here," she had planned to end here, but decided that it would be best to throw on a bit more in case they decided to try and dupe her, "I do not enjoy threatening people, but I would advise that you answer carefully considering the long range, Anti-Zoid weaponry now trained upon you.”

He wasn't yet aware that his brightly colored Zoid had been spotted yet. Talon in fact wasn't paying attention to his Radar ( which he probably should be by now), his nose was deep in a map as he tried to figure out where he was supposed to go in the city. Moe wasn't helping much by the insessent barks and hoots it was making.

"Stop! Moving! Cannot...Ack! Don't! " Rrrrriiiiiip! The map was torn into shreds as the MRZ decided to have a snack. The poor pilot stared at the dino thing with a look that could only be described as horrific shock. "That was my map! Why'd you eat my map! I needed that!" He was just about to go off on a massive rant/anger fest when the Tyrant itself roared, bringing up on its screens a Shield Liger moving towards them from the main gate. Not to mention a Gun Sniper and a Master Snipe. Oh and there was another Liger there too.

Talon just stared at it, looked back down at his radar, frowned, and felt his eye begin to twitch. Oh he was so screwed. "Holy sh----!?"

Moe looked at all of this and hooted happily at the 'friends' that would be coming, wanting to go meet them. Obviously, it didn't register that these were threats.

Talon nearly jumped out of his skin when he was hailed. After a moment, he managed to reach around Moe to open the link, only to get slightly scolded for being in the right place at the right time. He had a look of helplessness that one could almost pitty. In fact, he pittied himself. Here he was, miles away from home, deep in enemy territory, being threatened to death by a swift boom from snipers and ligers and who knows else, with a Zoid that was underpowered and an MRZ intent on making his life difficult! "Why me?" he muttered before flipping on the two way communication.

"Hi there!" he said trying not to sound as frazzled as he was. "Acting Ambassador Talon Beauregard with the Imperial army requesting permission to deliver a letter, personally, to the secretary of the President of the Helic Republic from his Imperial Majesty. " Satisfied with that he tried to grin and hold up the official looking paperwork to show the folks all the way off. Then meekly he added,"Please don't kill me! I mean you no harm! I'll leave if you want! Really! " Then Moe, the great quirky Moe, Barked and sniffed at the microphone slot, giving the unknown person a good burst of static followed by a bark. There was some cursing as Talon shoved Moe away from the microphone. Gah...This was going to be hell.

Even so, with his diplomatic approach, Talon couldn't help but get the feeling that one of them was a bit to trigger happy. The one that started off towards him had him slightly worried. So worried in fact that after he transmitted his message to the leader --or whom he suspected the leader to be-- he moved into a defensive position. No weaponry was displayed, but it was only a move to defend himself if he was attacked. The Tyrant approved of his by emitting a loud, defensive, warning roar to the approaching Liger that it clearly had no intention of fighting when the odds were obviously against it.

As his comrades spoke of what to do about the lone green Rev Raptor, Chase kept his eye on the zoid while wondering what its purpose was. Though, soon Private Shora had hailed the mystery pilot to get that exact information. Well, one thing for certain, they had seemed to spook Talon quite a bit. Though, he couldn't really blame the guy. A single Rev Raptor couldn't do a whole lot against several ligers, a heavily armed Gunsniper, snipemaster, and Gordos.

But considering things, they probably couldn't be too careful on their part. In any case, it was nice to know they had a friendly on their hands here.

The situation also seemed to amuse Aegis, as the shield liger made an odd growl-like noise. Chase wasn't quite sure what it was, but it almost seemed like an amused grunt or something along those lines.

That aside, he did nothing but await Private Shora's commands for the time being.

Thera pulled her liger to a halt halfway between the Raptor and the group she just came from out of the way of the gun snipers line of fire. She could see an empirial logo on it from her closer vantage point. It was odd colors for one though. "I'm not picking anything else up," She replied to the white and blue shield liger. She knew it was naive to expect the ligers radar to pick up everything, but nothing around seemed out of sorts or out of place. Thera wasn't really patient and her liger was the perfect match for her. It's paws were kneading the ground waiting for permission to move closer.

When the Raptor turned towards her and let out a defensive roar the liger let out one of it's own showing that it had no battle intent, It was simply curious about why this obviously out of place zoids was there.

Lorna waited patiently for her superior's order. She doubted they were going to fire on a lone Raptor. Shora and the other private were debating on what to do about the Raptor, and from her scope it didn't look like the pilot of the raptor was paying much attention.

Though that one cadet was really trigger happy it seemed. Lorna sighed sinside her cockpit while the com was off....

There was nothing to do but wait.
PostPosted: Tue Dec 22, 2009 4:25 pm

As soon as the Rev Raptor’s pilot managed to blurt out his fairly forced reply, Shora flinched and had to suppress a curse. The fact that her company decided to upgrade the comm-link to a video one further reinforced that he wasn’t lying, allowing her to see the uniform of the Imperial military and the paperwork quite clearly. The pilot’s sheepish expression led her to believe that she had managed to scare the wits out of him as well.

Ooohh... She’d have to make sure that she omitted the part about threatening an Ambassador when she made her report.

She herself blinked once, twice, then hastily straightened her posture in the cockpit, knowing full well that she’d have to make up for that oversight. She went to open her mouth to apologise and introduce herself, when all of a sudden a blast of static over the speakers caused her to instead yell out in surprise, covering her ears.

What tha' heck?” she recovered just in time to see the other pilot shove something green out of the screen. Okay then?

“Ar, no need to worry! We’re not going to kill you!” her voice was a bit more hoarse than she had intended, “We just suspected that you may have been a pirate or rogue, due to the colouration of your Zoid - it’s not exactly uniform.”

She nodded her head sideways for emphasis, and then finished up by making it even with identities.

“Private Shora Stromsten, glad to make your acquaintance. Now let’s sort out this somewhat embarrassing rabble...” she muted the comm-link and returned to the channel which all of the republican Zoids were sharing in order to explain the situation. She made a point to let Lorna know that she could return the Gun Sniper to its normal mode, and ask Thera if she could escort the imperial Zoid to their group. “And you guys in the Godos can go a bit further to the east. It’s starting to feel a bit cramped here.”

When she finally got that finished she unmated the visual link. “Alright, I’ve got that Shield Liger and another Zoid to bring you back here, they will be able to notify any other units that come across us that you’re a friendly.”

Ben took it upon himself to pilot his own Zoid forward to meet the Rev Raptor and Shield Liger half-way. The presence of the lumbering Gordos could act as a deterrent in case either of the Zoids proved to be more anxious to fight than they believed.

Not really threatened, just made a rather pointed show of force when Talon was obviously outclassed. Then again... maybe he could get away before getting blown into smithereens. Maybe... Probably not. Them there folks had a lock on him and probably better aim and ammunition.

"I see...so its standard procedure to aim guns at an unknown Zoid with the Imperial emblem brandished on one side... " The fact that she mentioned the coloration of his beloved Tyrant made the man grin from ear to ear. It was that goofy pleased grin of his. "Ah. I know. Assigned to me. Isn't he a beaut! " The large Raptor made a groaning hiss. Sometimes it just wanted to squish its pilot. Like now! The issue was that it was safe inside and jettison him would be dangerous for both parties.

Talon just blinked and nodded to the woman on the other end, then gave a sigh of relief when the video link was cut for the short amount of time. Moe, having vacated to behind the pilot seat, peered over and sniffled into Talon's ear demanding attention. It got it by a pat and a scratch behind the oddly formed helm thingy. Talon had yet to figure out what exactly this being was supposed to be after, but hey! Cannot look a gift horse in the mouth.

The link popped back up, and Talon raised an eyebrow at the orders given to him. The liger that ran for him earlier so eager to fight was going to be the one escorting him? Now wait a minute! He didn't like that plan at all! Moe barked and peered at this strange she-man being on the video screen. It would have leaped forward and sniffed the screen, but Talon had it in a firm headlock of pettings. "Affirmative." he said with a stiff nod, "Thank you, Private Stormsten. " Talon closed the link between her Zoid and his and cursed to himself. "Well, this letter better be this important or I'm filing a complaint, Tyrant. "

The Rapter was silent in agreement. Its attention was on the lumbering Gordos and the rather too close for comfort Shield Liger. Oh, it could easily take the Shield Liger--if it was the only one there and the pilot didn't direct the shields right at the right time--.but it wouldn't out of respect of current immunity due to the mission. It hissed back at the Liger that had come forward, and slowly took a step forward, keeping its body parallel to the ground in case it needed to make a mad dash away. It had a job to do and it was going to get it done so help all that get in its way--with minimal damage to itself of course- And Talon didn't disapprove of this mood or move, since he felt similarly anxious.

Moe, on the other hand, was barking madly in the cockpit for attention. And it wanted to get out of this stuffy place.
