'Zuba drew the warm brown coat closer around her, walking quickly down the sidewalk as she tried to ignore the biting December wind that had roared to life. Normally, she wouldn't be caught dead outside in these conditions. But, she'd gotten a call. Poor Vincent was stuck babysitting alone. The poor boy definitely needed company. Which was why she was out her in the middle of December, walking to his house.

He'd mentioned something about a new younger sibling or two; she looked forward to meeting them, or him, or her, or....you get the idea. She exhaled, pausing a moment to watch the vapor trail up and disappear into the sky. Vaguely, she imagined being able to float like that, free as vapor and free as smoke, twisting and turning in the wind. She shook her head, eyes focusing as the target house came into view.

Vincent was normally eager to help his parents, but he had been put in charge of the younger set too often lately. He felt as if his parents were taking advantage of his kind nature. And his uncle too! Why was he always the one to be stuck with the children? Why did Joshua always have to be busy when their parents asked them to babysit? It wasn't fair. So today, he had decided to be busy as well. He had invited 'Zuba to keep him company--and perhaps assist in the babysitting.

"'Cent! Howl tease me!" Came Kaleb's complaint. The toddler ran to his older brother, and threw his arms around Vinny's legs. He hid his face, and gave a sniffle. "Howl mean." There had been a rivalry between the two boys ever since they had first met.

"I did not! I just asked him why he's got a bandaid on his head!" Howl followed his younger cousin, his arms crossed. "I wasn't teasing him, honest I wasn't."

Vincent glanced from Howl to his brother, and cracked a smile. "Well, Howl. You know what we do here to boys who don't behave," he watched as Kaleb looked up, obviously waiting to hear what Howl's punishment would be. "Your older sister's coming to see you."

'Zuba knocked on the door, as if on cue. She rubbed her arms a bit, trying to warm herself. Well, it'd only be a bit longer until she'd be inside the nice, heated house and out of the cold. She frowned a little as she noticed the startings of snow flurries. That would make walking home later OH so much fun. Yeah right. It was already cold; the last thing they needed was snow.

From the corner of her eye, the spawn could see her shadow shift a bit, even though the clouds hadn't moved. She frowned, shaking her head silently before focusing on the door.

Before Howl could reply to Vincent's teasing, even just to say, "I have another sister?", Kaleb had hurried to the door. The toddler's hair was bouncing up and down onto his neck. "I let you in!" he reassured, as he stood on his tiptoes to reach the doorknob. Turning it was much easier than reaching it; the door swung open. "Come in, come in!" Kaleb cried, staring at this new person. He felt safer when meeting people this way; in his own house. There were plenty of places to hide if this person turned out to be a Scary. "I Kaleb, what your name?"

Vincent nudged Howl with his elbow. "Well, aren't you going to go introduce yourself?" When his younger cousin shook his head, Vinny smirked. "You know, you can't date your sister--besides, she's taken," the spawn understood that only too well. "Otherwise, I'd be dating her," he added.

Howl rose his eyebrows. He had never considered Vincent as the romantic type. "I'll go talk to her, then," he muttered. He walked into the hall where his cousin was greeting their guest. "Nice to meet you, I'm Howl. Cousin Vincent says we're siblings or something--" he paused awkwardly. Why did all the females related to him have to be pretty?

'Zuba smiled lightly down at the little boy, stepping inside. "Nice to meet you, Kaleb. I'm 'Zuba." she said, smiling. Aww, wasn't he just adorable? If only little kids could stay little forever....they tend to get meaner and not-so-nice when they got older.

She frowned slightly as she heard Vincent. A part of her still felt bad, but....what could she do? He was her best friend, almost like a brother to her. She never had, nor could she ever, see him that way. She thought he was over it, but....apparently not. Oh dear.

She looked to the blonde boy, offering a small smile. "'S nice to meet you, too." she said, nodding once. "I'm Zuba." She held her hand out to her....younger brother-to-be? How many siblings were going to come out of the woodwork? Silently, she wondered how Mother and her pet boy were going to fit all of them into their house.

"Hi 'Zuba!" Kaleb echoed her name with ease, beaming up at her. He liked this girl, she was definetely not a scary. He hugged her around the knees, all signs of shyness gone. "Play with us?" he tilted his head to look up at her again, brown eyes sparkling. "You bery pretty," he told her, not wanting a repeat of what had happened at the park with Luska. "Bery pretty. Come see 'Cent!" He hadn't seemed to notice Howl, until he looked up and spotted his older cousin.

Howl took 'Zuba's hand and shook it politely. "I'm sorry I wasn't able to meet you sooner," he said. "Dad doesn't really like me around many girls for some reason..." Oh he knew the reason alright; Zee was the girls as well as his son. No matter, he didn't need to tell his future older sister that. "So, Vincent tells me you like art? What kind?"

Vinny watched his charges for a moment longer, before going up to greet 'Zuba as well. "Hey, glad you could make it," he said with a smile. He leaned in to whisper, "Don't be surprised if Howl asks you on a date--it's how he gets to know people." He pulled back to grin and roll his eyes.

'Zuba chuckled, nodding. "I'll play." she said, amused at the boy's sudden enthusiasm and cheerfullness. She shook her head lightly at the little one's words; little children were just too kind. She back to her brother Howl, nodding once. "It's okay. Not your fault." she said, offering a small smile. "I like all kinds. Current favorite is German Expressionism. You like art?"

She looked at Vincent, an odd expression coming over her face. Her little brother would ask her what? She shook her head; boys made absolutely no sense sometimes. Well, Howl didn't seem to make sense, anyways.

"I like all art," Howl told her with a smile. "Most kinds, anyway. Right now I'm really interested in artwork from Florence. Most of the artists I like eventually go mad, though. No idea why..." Howl had begun to wonder if simply liking someone would cause them to become mad--but no, the artists that had gone mad had been before his time. "Do you have a favorite artist?"

Vincent grinned at his friend's expression. "You know, he doesn't mean an actual date," he added in a whisper. "He means like going out to ice cream or going out to the park, or doing something we'd normally do with him anyway," he said with a shrug. "I doubt he even knows what the word date means." Though, if Howl did know what it meant, and still asked 'Zuba, Vincent wouldn't have been able to blame him. "So how about that game, huh? Kaleb's really taken to you," he chuckled. "He's usually shy. Hides behind me all the time."

"Hooray! What game we play?" Kaleb asked, looking up to 'Zuba. "You pick!"

"Ah, Florence. Home of the Renaissance. Favorite at the moment is Käthe Kollwitz." 'Zuba said, smiling. "She used such emotion in her works...she portrayed sorrow perfectly." She glanced at Vincent, nodding. If it wasn't an actual date, then why call it a date? That made no sense. She shook her head a moment, then smiled.

"Hmm...who wants to play Go Fish?" she suggested. She was the wrong person to ask about games; she didn't play them often enough to know the really good ones.

"I'll have to look her up," Howl said with a smile. He liked artists that showed emotion--at times he considered himself one. He showed emotion perfectly; though he had long understood that he didn't have them like others did--though he didn't know exactly why. "Go Fish sounds good," he said with a smile.

"Go Fish!" Kaleb agreed quickly, though he clearly had no idea what 'Zuba meant. "But there no water," he noticed, looking around the room. He thought they were really going fishing! "No fish. No water, no sticks," he crossed his arms and looked from 'Zuba to Vincent. "How we gonna fish if we got no fish?"
