Though the older male wished he could have went into the pride with the young female he didn't. It had been an entire day and while he could have left the water fall and easily returned he didn't want something to happen. Oh no, he wouldn't let that poor young cub come back to their meeting spot without him in it. Especially if her pride attempted to hurt her for leaving.
No he wasn't having any of that. She would come back to him waiting with open paws for her to rejoin him.
He stepped out of the water onto her rock, flicking his stiff tail back and forth with a soft slow patience. He could wait forever if he had to. Well maybe not forever but certainly long enough.
He finally had someone to tell stories to. Surely the pride would allow him to help her decide who to marry and what standing to take in the pride. Surely they would. He would appricate it. Though that was up to the King. He expected to come back with a full litter not just one cub.
Maybe there was still time for that. Regardless he baked in the hot sun and paced back and forth slightly. Hopefully he'd hear it if she cried out for help. What if he didn't? What if she needed him?
He didn't leave. He would wait for her. He was a loyal thing and could never betray someone's trust. Especially a young cub who needed him so. So instead he let his mouth hang open in a pant and his old bones moved him steadily.
Back and forth.
Back and forth.
Where was she?

Days had turned into weeks. It was much harder to say her goodbyes than she originally though. But today she was prepared to leave. She'd said goodbye to her mother, father and grandparents and siblings. Now she could say hello to a pride that set right with her and a male waiting for her. Well, she hoped he was still waiting for her. Aekea did keep him waiting for a long, long time, and he wasn't allowed in the pride... Swallowing a bit, her violet eyes scanned the border before she stepped over it. Forever leaving her pride.
She wasn't allowed to come back, no visiting her family. Since she didn't see him, Aekea moved to her rock where they'd first met. Maybe he hadn't woken up yet. It was a chilly, foggy morning for some reason. And she, herself, was tempted to sleep in. But that nagging in the back of her head woke her up and she set off. Here she was. She was no longer that awkward cub he'd seen the first time. No, the orange and yellow lioness was nearly adult now. Her size had grown considerably, and she'd filled out in muscles and fat, but she wasn't overweight. She was sleek and slender.

As the days passed by the older male's resolve began to fade. She had yet to make an appearance and he had no idea if she'd changed her mind or been harmed by her pride. Still he waited. He began to expand the perimeter , hunting just outside of it and coming back at night.
If anyone happened by he let them know his presence and startled more the one strange creature off into the distance. Though he figured most of them were merely in his mind.
He couldn't stay forever. He wanted to. He wanted to help her but what was the point of waiting for someone who would never return? Yet there was a chance she could escape. Then she would need to find him and he had to be there. He just had to be.
So he stayed.
When the young female approached the rock she was right. Kafele lay on her rock looking very tired. He was old and catching food wasn't so easy anymore. While she'd grown larger and finely built he seemed aged and tired. He was skinnier and his muzzle seemed a bit more gray.
His ear twitched and he shifted his head. If it were a younger male there was nothing he could do. He opened one of his eyes and looked toward her.
She was hard to make out at first in the fog but her coloring didn't blind in well. He pushed his front up and stared for a moment before the reconition dawned in his eyes.
"Aekea..." He whispered softly taking in her new appearance. She'd grown. Strong and healthy and she was unharmed. That meant the most to him. She was unharmed. "You're alive..."

She looked at the other in dismay. Yes, he was alive, but it didn't look like it. She bit down on the inside of her cheek as she approached him more rapidly, moving to but her head gently against his head and then sighed, the air casing her bangs to puff upwards as well. "L-look... at-t you! Y-you haven't-t been eating w-w-well have y-you?" She sounded upset and more like a caretaker than a child. By most standards, she still was a child. With her tail flicking this way and that guilt ate at her. It was her fault he looked like this. Aekea had mad him wait, and she knew he wasn't good at hunting.
She all but climbed on the rock with him to nuzzle up against him, a greeting she did with her siblings and parents. "....A-are y-you hungry?" She asked, tilting her head to the side. She could catch a good sized prey by herself while he woke up. Poor old man. Still, seeing he had waited filled her with joy, guilt and giddiness. She was happy he was still here. "I c-couldn't get a-away faster. I-I'm s-sorry.." After she pulled away from him, she hung her head slightly, still waiting on his answer. She wanted to do something for him since he'd waited so long.
Really, Aekea had thought he'd have left by now. His pride would surly be worried about him, and he was probably home sick by now. But, she wanted to take care of him, nurse him back to a healthy weight before they got back to the pride. She could do it; she was younger than him by a few years.

"I've had a few things..." The old man grunted leaning up to accept her head butt. It was nice after being alone for so long to have someone to talk to. The nuzzle was even more welcome and he was nuzzling her back before he could stop himself, a low thrum of a purr in his chest.
He blinked at her, "I am... actually..." He responded shifting to rest against her. She was warm and it made him content. "Its fine. I'm just glad you were not harmed or anything. I'm glad to see you are well.... Time has been good to you."
He smiled at her and pulled himself to his feet, brushing head over her growing mane. "I'm glad to see you again, Aekea. I was very worried."

She stayed long enough to listen to what he had to say and then she bolted, laughing to herself happily. She could do something for him, and it made her very eager. "I-I'm going-g hunting!" She called back to him, over her shoulder as she disappeared around the bend. Aekea knew where she was going and what she was doing.
A few very long moments later, Aekea came back with a baby gazelle clasped firmly between her teeth, dragging it at an awkward angle to bring it to him. She was bloody, so was the prey, but she was unharmed again and happy looking. Dropping it in front of the older lion, Aekea sat down adn licked her paws, then moved them to clean her whiskers. "T-this is... is yours," she said almost shyly, but her chest puffed out, clearly pleased with her work.

He watched as she took off and smiled slightly. Yes, she would be a welcome addition to the pride. He lays down to get more rest in the midmorning. Tired and pleased with the outcome of the day.
When she returns the smell of blood wakens him from his half daze. He picks himself up, sniffing and moving toward it. When she drop the gazelle he quickly leans down to start eating it. He's starving and is quick to enjoy the meal. "Thank you, this is wonderful."

The young lioness watched him eat with her chest swelling with pride. Aekea was just happy she could do something decent for someone for a change. She felt completely useless in the pride with so many others trying to teach her everything all at once. At least hunting she did right. Of course the orange female didn't care if he focused on eating; she couldn't blame him. He had waited this long for her, probably afraid to go hunt for himself in case she showed up.
"Kafele... We're.... we're g-going t-to leave tha-the p-pride lands?" she whispered slowly. She was nervous about what laid beyond this. She could see what laid right here, but didn't know about anything beyond this. Her ears flicked and her whiskers twitched. She couldn't help but be nervous.

The male's powerful jaws make short work of the animal laid out in front of him. Once he's finished pulling as much meat as his large muzzle can get off of it he lifts his head and licks his long fangs.
"Hm? Oh yes... Well Tete'Boma is what its called dear." He corrected giving her a small smile. Pushing himself off he slipped off the rock to stand over her really look her over. "My family's been in the pride for generation. We've recently opened our boarders. I may need to find others to take with me. But yes, soon we will go."

She whispered the pride name and smiled a little bit. It rolled off her tongue was, with a stutter at the beginning and at the end, but it was better than pronouncing her original pride name. When she was looked over, Aekea stood a bit taller, looked a bit prouder and held her head up. Why, was because she wanted to appear ready for this trip, though she was nervous and scared.
If he were with her the whole time, it would be fine, even if they were meeting other lions. "T-t-thank you, Kafele..." Her smile grew brighter as she managed to say his name without stuttering. She would practice at that. If her aunt could do it, why couldn't she?

"Of course, m'lady... Its my pleasure..." He He smiled back at her and let his body flop back down against the rock. He was tired and not ready to travel just yet but he intended to. Yes, he would take her back to his pride and they would be happy.
A smile went over his muzzle as he let out a wide yawn. "I'm glad you're willing to join me. I hope my pride can help you find your place in the world."

Seeing him flop over, she moved next to him and laid there, at a distance, of course. It wasn't like they were mates or anything. Aekea was just going to follow him around so she would know the pride. That, and he had said he wanted to get more members. Perhaps she could do some recruiting of her own? Maybe.
"I b-b-bet I c-can be at peac-ce there.." She said softly, noticing she was still smiling. It had been a long time since she'd smiled like this. "N-now.. you s-sleep..."

The older male yawns and looks over when she lays down. "Its very peaceful..." He responds with a dreamy like voice. Tired, the green maned lion doesn't need to be told twice. He's been fed after days of not eating.
He shifts closer to her so that his tail can curl round her and lays his massive head down against the cool rock. He shifts closer to her and closes her eyes.
