So, I was watching The Monster At The End Of The Book, the episode where we meet Chuck. And I was wondering, why the hell don't the boys call him on like a daily basis to get a heads up on things?
I know I would!
I mean I know that it's a bit weird to do that in the show and Zachie scared him, but still for the big episodes? Like when Sam and Dean are fighting? Or when they're trying to find the colt? Hello!!! What?

My thoughts exactly! I really did think it was rather dumb of the boys to not read all of his books. Just because it's about them doesn't mean that they already know everything in them... As proven by the fact that they held the secret to the Colt's location this whole time. REALLY NOW? I would have at least expected Sam to browse through them.
If I had been in their position, I would have Chuck on the phone, practically everyday, asking him about things. o= He could be a valuable resource to the boys, if only they knew how to use him to their full advantage!

That would make a hell of a lot of sense. Which is probably why they haven't done it, when have the Winchesters ever done anything the easy way?
Thing is, shouldn't it work both ways as well? Why doesn't Chuck warn them about some of these things which are coming?

Well, one of the things that I thought stood in Chuck's way was Zachariah, because remember how he popped up and said if you try to tell them I'll stop you?
But otherwise, it's plain dumb!

Hmmm, this is a good point.
I always thought it was because Sam and Dean did NOT want to know what was about to happen.
That, and Zach said he'd kill chuck. But you know, whatev's. lol
But even if they do not want to know about the future, knowing about the colt would have been nice, i'm sure Zach would have wanted them to know about that, UNLESS....he knew it wouldn't kill the devil, and he just wanted Sam and Dean to see it for themselves.
Ahh many things to ponder on this topic....

I just thought that they didn't want Chuck to publish the books, not not know what was going to happen. I understand why they don't want to know some things, like in the episode they tried avoiding everything but couldn't and it just created a mess. But at least they knew Lilith was coming so they could somewhat prepare for it. So that was a good thing.

I'd completely forgotten that Zach had told him that. BAD FAN. I need a rewatch. But that'd explain it.

Also that episode at the convention, why didn't they ask for a heads for the Apocalypse? You know, the Four horsemen and all!

Y'know, the more this is discussed, the more I realize Chuck is one of those characters who's great in theory but hasn't been executed as well as he could have. There are too many plot holes with him.

It's true, maybe that's why they haven't really shown him. They can't really explain him too well.

I agree.
Because now, he can't really tell them what's going to happen, so what do you do with him?
Unless he's like "Screw it i'm telling Sam and Dean this!" and then dies or something....
Just, what are they gonna do with him now? It's like he's just....stuck. He's not allowed to write, he's not allowed to tell.
OMG what if Chuck saves the day in the end? That's his purpose now! He knows what's gonna happen so HE can stop it!
...maybe. I really like Chuck, I just want so much for his character, ya know? lol

Well, they wouldn't kill him, he's too valuable. Zach just said they would stop him.

I've considered three possible ways they could stop Chuck.
1.) Cut his tounge out
2.) Make him blind
3.) Break his fingers
I'm sure you all can figure out the why's lol But you know, if he was gonna rebel those are some things I could think of that they could do as not to kill him.

Chuck not doing anything about the current situation bugs me too. He's tight lipped by what I assume is the angels. But then again talking about Chuck opens many doors through " well why couldn’t they do this" section just going to show that Supernatural's strong point isn’t plot consistency.
Such as: I'm sure Cas has read all the books, he is, after all, a 'fan'. So why didn't he know where the Colt is? And his 'sources' (whoever those may be) simply knew that it wasn’t destroyed. Hmm? /:
It's exactly as Blasphemy said, a great character and pool of possibilities but it's only making plot holes. Disappointment, but I still love Chuck.
- I'm still thinking Chuck's going to continue publishing books Because, a) I want him too and b) he's got a big investor and already announced it. So, yeah, the Winchester books continue! xD -
I don't see Chuck rebelling. He'll be left alone in his house writing more books for the rest of the show probably. Maybe leaving hints and clues every once and a while.
