Winter was on the approach, that was for sure. It wasn't just the chill in the air, the Christmas music blasting from speakers every which way (particularly coming from shops, she'd noticed), or the anxious air swarming around the school as the minutes ticked by getting closer and closer to the holiday break.
No, what really told her winter was coming... was the smell.
Her boots clicked away over the sidewalks, a perky sound when accompanied by the clicks coming from Raja's nails. White walking stick in hand, she could only wonder how well it might blend into the snow around her, listening to others crunch over it, thankful that her doggy friend had thus far kept her from risking slipping in stuff.
That crisp, brisk smell danced around her nose, making her lips twitch upwards at the corners. It was a smell that meant hot chocolate and curling up by a fire with a good book was to soon be in order. Girl and canine turned into the familiar entrance to the park, her ears taking in the sounds - laughter, happy voices, some heavier puffs of air from joggers - of those also unwilling to leave the park due to the incoming season. It was good to feel that she wasn't the only one willing to face the cold for a nice walk, even as bundled up as she was.
A warm down coat of, what she was told to be, a pretty pale blue tint was zipped up around her form, reaching down just past her hips to constrict a little of the heavy wool skirt that swirled around her legs, a soft underskirt beneath that giving the outer cloth a little puff. Cream and white respectfully, more blue found in her stockings seen above her white boots. More blue in the scarf, cream in the fuzzy gloves... oh yeah, she was bundled and warm and more than happy to be out and about.
Raja gave a cheerful little bark as if agreeing with her mistresses' silent thoughts, and with a grin, the two picked up their pace a bit as they made their way further into the park.

It seem that even during this cold time of the year, it didn't stop Melinda from enjoying the park either. More important, it didn't stop her from playing christmas music on her flute. Sitting on one of the benches, her small slender fingers seem to dance across the top of the flute. The melody of 'Winter Wonderland' echo through the park, just adding to the beauty of the day.
Bundle in a white down coat her, Melinda pulls the flute away just as she finishes the song. She gets a few applause from those that were walking, causing her to blush. Pulling on her light green gloves, she rubs her hands together to attempt to warm them before another song. Her dark green eyes roam over the park as a smile forms on her lips. Kids sleighing, some building a snowman. It was a great time of the year, minus the cold.
Tucking her light green cashmere scarf into her jacket alittle more, she pulls her gloves off once again. Lifting her flute to her lips, she starts off slow as she starts the beginning of 'Silent Night'.

The sound of a wind instrument caught her ears, distracting her from the world around her as she realized she had heard the tail end of "Winter Wonderland," the tune fading off into an applause from the general direction of 'somewhere in front of them.' So performers were out and about as well? That was a cheering thought. As nice as Christmas music from CDs and speakers was, there was just something about a real life performance that made it all the more... well... real.
The two continued to walk down the path, with Lilith trying to judge whereabouts the flute player could have been. Although it seems she wasn't to go very long without her answer. A few moments of silence, and the soft airy sound was drifting through the air again. She stopped abruptly, Raja quickly backing up to press her cold nose against the blind girl's leg. Of course Lilith bent to gave the golden retriever a comforting scratch to show all was well, but she quickly straightened to listen to the music. It was... very well done! Was the player a woman? A man? Young? Old? Her muscles relaxed to the calming melody, smile wistful and eyes shut on reflex behind her sunglasses.
Beside her, she could feel the dog relax as well, sitting as her tail wagged gently behind both. Was it rude to stop and "stare"? A part of her hoped she wasn't the only one listening to the wonderful song, yet at the same time... she didn't care if she was the only one just standing there. A good performance deserves a good audience of some variety, right?

As the melody of Silent Night comes to an end, Melinda sat her flute once again in her lap. A few claps from the people around her cause her to chuckles before she smiles "Thank you." pulling her gloves back on, she rubs them together as her eyes scan the people around her. They stop for a moment as she spots the dog, finding her heart leap inside her for a moment.
Try not to freak out, that would be so rude...
Taking in a slow calming deep breath, she smiles as she bows her head "Thank you again, would anyone like to request a Christmas song?" she didn't mind request, as it meant more practice. So maybe she would miss a note of two, at the moment I don't think it would matter.

Of course her gloved hands were among those to give a happy string of claps, a little grin on her face. A girl! She wasn't deaf, she heard that sweet voice, giving a silent estimate that the player was within her age range. Not that she had any clue the one in question had noticed Raja, nor the start the canine'd given her. Instead, she checked the harness quick to make sure all was still in order, grip the handle in her hand, turn a bit to leave- and stop.
The girl was taking requests?
Lilith paused, waiting first to see if anyone else would speak up. Nothing? That was actually a shock to her. She raised her hand, taking a step towards the girl's voice. "Excuse me," she started politely, hand lowering a bit, a sheepish smile kicking in despite herself. So much for bold and calm... "Would you by chance mind playing... God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen?" Her hand still on Raja's harness, the dog remained behind her, tail thumping against the backs of her legs. Yay for reassuring canine buddy!

((I'm so sorry its taken me this long to get back. I haven't been well, and I'm slowly trying to get back into the swing of things.))
Melinda's eyes fell to the young girl with the dog. With a smile, she nods to her "Sure, I can play that." rubbing her hands together just for a second more, she pulls her gloves off. The cold air brush over her warm skin, causing her to shiver only for a moment.
Lifting her flute, she close her eyes as she took in a slow deep breath. Only moments later did the melody of 'God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen' dance through the air. A soft melody, yet it held so much strength in the cords as she played. Only missing one of two notes as she continued.
Opening her eyes only for a moment, she looks around at the people. Her eyes were rather pleased that people were enjoying her music, as it filled her heart. If she could make people smile now, it made her more determined to do this as she grew older.
