Nocturnal Emissions

PostPosted: Sun Dec 11, 2005 12:51 am

Those three words were picked out of a dictionary at random. I am challenging myself to make a reasonable RP out of them, as best I can. Maybe someday, I'll allow other people to randomly choose words for me, but this time I'll use my own.
But let's start the RP.

The Story

It is the medieval times, where castles dot the land, serfs are overworked, and the upper crust lives the high life and spends thousands while the lower classes starve and suffer. Uprisings have happened, but quickly stopped by those in power. Things are not set to change.

However, strange things are starting to happen throughout the countries. Strange lights have been seen around palaces, castles and keeps. Odd people have been spotted. The rich and highborn have been disappearing, in small groups. They are gone for a week, then reappear in their beds, their faces untouched but their insides horribly ravaged and hollow. The work of demons and witches, it is whispered. It is no concern to the nobles, though. Their greatest rivals are being killed!
But each of them goes to bed each night a little frightened, a little weary. And rightfully so.

On this night, you went to sleep peacefully. But when you awoke, you were on a hard cold floor, dressed in your finest, albeit most impractical clothing. It appears to be a keep of some sort. But with no windows, no doors to separate the rooms... and no discernible front door to leave by.
But there's no threat yet, it seems. Plenty of light to see by, shadowy as it may be with only dripping candles and sooty torches. Besides, of course, the thumping sound from beneath the floor. And the occasional scream heard from an empty hall...

Rules

1. Literacy, to a point. I want quality, not quantity. Three lines per post is perfectly fine. I don't want to read through half a page just to get to your character saying hello.
2. No other races. You're a European human. No vampires, demons, angels or *shudder* catdemons. I feel sorry for the cats.
3. No magic, either. I hoped this would be gathered from the above rule, but just in case.
4. I don't like profiles. They irritate me, because it means your character is laid bare for all to see. Just PM me a name for your character and a picture if you REALLY want one. You can introduce yourself through your posts.
5. Feel free to PM me with ideas. Beginnings are my specialty, not endings and middles.
6. Have FUN. This shouldn't be a chore.

People

1. Lord Darrin Redgrass/buggritall
2. Estelle/HitoshiK9
3. Adara Kiante/Fairy God Mother
4. Lady Umbria Nimue/demagoguery
5. Lady Aireth Lee Rahan/IzusuSouma
6. Lord Alden Beval/Ruriska
7. -none-
8. -none-
9. -none-
10. -none-

Number of characters is limited due to the small members of the guild, and the possibility of the story moving so quickly ahead that others will find it hard to slot themselves into the roleplay.

Lord Darrin sat up, groaning. Where was his enormous bed? His soft fluffy pillows? His companion for the night? All gone.
He sat up, squinting in the flickering light. Some sort of a palace, though a dirty one. He seemed to hear the light breathing of others, though he couldn't be sure. He took a deep breath and called out.
"Hello!?"

Groaning, Bri opened her eyes reluctantly. She closed them immediately at the sight of the bleak stone walls. There was something very important that she had to do. But she was too cold. Shivering violently Bri pulled her knees up to her chin, curling into a fetal position. What she wouldn't do for her mother's chicken soup...

She snapped up suddenly, her eyes darting swiftly over her surroundings, as if she expected someone to have heard her thoughts. My name is... she thought, chewing her lip with the effort of thought... Umbria. Lady Umbria Nimue. Must remember that.

Shrugging off the sluggish stupor of sleep, Bri shook her dirty blonde hair out of her face. Somewhere she could hear a man calling out, but she wasn't ready to speak to anyone yet. Fear was rising, a thick wave of bile crashing against her sanity.

"Stop it," Bri whispered softly. The sound of her voice soothed her, bringing her back into reality. "Think of your family." Still shaking slightly, Bri wobbled to her feet.

"Hello?" she cried out, hoping the man hadn't left. Bri stumbled down the dark corridors, hoping she didn't attract the attention of anything hostile. "Hello?"

Adara crawled through the dark corridors. Chilly through here, yes... she thought. She snickered to herself, knowing somehow she had gotten into this rich palace. But.. How? She pondered for a second, but continued on. She kept going until she heard a male's voice. She listened intently, then she heard a female reply, and reply again.

She stayed in the shadows, having cat eyes seeing every awkward movement she made.

Darrin stood up slowly. As he did, something pushed uncomfortably into his side. His ceremonial sword. It was barely sharp, the point was blunt, and he had only basic knowledge of swordsmanship. A giant knitting needle, really.
He brushed some dust off his red silk clothing as he hard a response.
"Yes, I'm here!" he replied back, taking more note of his surroundings. It felt like a prison... yet all doors were open.

Her back pressed against the cold, hard, damp floor of the strange room. Aireth's eyes opened slowly and she sat up. She rubbed her head and let out a faint sigh as her eyes adjusted to to the darkness.

Lady Aireth Lee Rahan had always been able to remain calm under the most extreme circumstances ever since she was a child. She let out a sigh as she stood up and brushed herself off.

Where is heaven's name am I? she thought to herself as she felt around on the wall for a possible door. It was too dark to see how large the room was, she would just have to measure it out footstep by footstep. She started at a notch in the stone wall, that would be her ending point as well. Slowly, she counted each step as she feeled around the wall. "Hello?" she called out.

How many others are there? It seemed like every step she took there was another voice calling out. She sighed, and saw that the place was very well furnished. One dim candle was in the corridor. She kept walking, but bumped into something, and let out a silent cry. It was... A man. She blushed in the darkness, and quickly put her hand over his mouth.

"Don't cry out.. Be silent," And she pulled him down into a very dark corner, away from the other cries.

"Do you know where we are?" She whispered harshly. She flexed her hand to be prepared to get her knife.

Darrin was quite surprised at not only being bumped into, but also being dragged along.
"Do you know who I..." he began, then trailed off. He'd heard tales of women in other countries being instructed in the fighting arts. Best not to anger somebody until he knew more about them.
"No, I do NOT know where we are. I do not have the faintest idea." he said haughtily.

She rolled her eyes, then whispered in his ear, "State your name, position," She said, her theiving instincts coming out. Her mind raced about what to do, think, say. She twitched nervously, as she sometimes did. She had no memory of getting here.. At all....

Eightythree footsteps from the far wall to the wall across from her. She judged that the room was either square or rectangular. Slowly, she moved her hands along the wall and they suddenly ran over a wood bridge and then a openspace. She had found the door.

Aireth fainlty smiled to herself as she stepped out of the damp, cold room and into a dim hallway. Once again, her eyes adjusted to the darkness and the fair about of light that illuminated from a small, dying candle.

She glanced down at her wardrobe. It was hidiously lady-like. She frowned in disgust, in her country, woman and men alike wore thiner clothes that were easier to move around in. No matter she thought to herself. She would just have to deal with it. Aleast it wasn't what she had seen other woman from other countries wear. Their clothes were poofy and hidious. She perfered plainer, smoother appearal.

"Hello?" she called out again. She could see well in the dark for a mere human, she was more of a night person anyway. She let out a faint sigh and rubbed her forehead. She had no idea where she was.

Darrin answered as absolutely calmly as he could. "I am Lord Darrin Redgrass, and I'd thank you to not order me around like that." He was not used to being told what to do.
"I can hear somebody else, I'd prefer not to be chatting in a corner when they greet me."

Adara clutched the man closer to her, her knife now at his throat. "You are starting to annoy me, young man," She said, her tone much more mature than she was used to. She knew that she had the ability to kill this man, but what about later occurrences? No, no, that wouldn't do, but she wasn't going to let him blow what little cover they had. They were in the absolute darkest, no one could even SEE them. She saw a girl walk by, in a thick womanly dress.

"Just go along, and I will let you free. We might could work together if need be,"

She scowled in the dark, but kept the dull side of the blade pressured against him.
