The same question always bothered her every year: ‘What do you want for Christmas?’ and every year it was the same answer. Seira never knew what she wanted besides more time with people she loved and miss dearly. Looking back as the days past she realized this time last year everything was peaceful, well as peaceful as her family could be. Everything changed so fast, from breakups to babies and now this fox would find herself to be a great grandmother in the matter of a few weeks.

“When did I start feeling so old?” She asked herself lightly while looking in a mirror, looking youthful but not feeling it. Her back started to hurt her if she did dishes for more then fifteen minutes and she was also constantly tired. It didn’t help that Seira’s new haircut made her look more mature, secretly waiting impatiently for her hair to grow back; not that she didn’t like her hair, she just didn’t think it suited her very well.

(( @_@ Sorry, I ended up barely having a moment to myself the past few days. ))

Not too far outside of the walls of the Pound, a tall, brown spotted fox paced back and forth. Apprehension was written all over his face, as well as a healthy dose of irritation. On every pass he grew a little closer to the door, until eventually he was pacing right in front of it. Finally he stopped directly in front of the portal, staring at it as if it was going to bite him and shaking his head irritably.

Evander had not seen most of his family in quite some time. The only children of his that he really had contact with were Konstantine and the other brats that more or less lived with him. It wasn't that he didn't like interacting with them, or didn't care. It was mostly that he felt he did a really poor job of fathering, as well as simply having put off the visits for so long that it now seemed ridiculous for him to just show up. Christmas was rolling around though, and Kon had pushed him to go and visit with some of his other children. It would make them happy during the holidays, he'd claimed.

"Hmph, maybe," he muttered to himself, and finally his hand came up to open the door.

A slight wave of sadness washed over her after hearing the noises coming from outside; figuring it was just the sound of kids playing. “Get a grip, Seira …he’ll never want any more.” She thought out loud with a heavy sigh as the fox made her way to the couch, hoping her small frame could melt into the plush cushions; maybe then could she sit down for more then five minutes.

Seira’s mind began to run a mile a minute, already starting to plan out how each present was to be wrapped and if she missed anyone. The more she thought the more the girl seemed to forget; naming off her brothers, sisters, children and their mates, grandchildren and their mates, her soon to be great grandchildren and… “How could I forget them.” Her hands rubbed against her temples in slight frustration, wondering how she could possibly forget Evander and Konstantine? Seira sighed and looked down in realization. “Has it really been that long? I don’t think he’s even met his grandchildren..”

The heavy wooden doors swung open, revealing a largely familiar scene. The porch was untidy, with many coats hung in the closets that resided on either side of the hall. Shoes were also scattered all about, in various sizes and styles. There were far too many of those "converse" things around for his liking. Kids these days.

Walking forwards into one of the large living areas of the pound, he lingered in the doorway for a moment and took in the scene. Bunches of kids were scattered around the room, occupying themselves with different activities. Some played with toy trains, some of the younger ones with blocks, while still others crowded around a television trying to hear over the ruckus. His eyes slowly moved around the room. Here and there he caught a flash of an eerily familiar spotty pattern. Could some of these children be related to him? Who knew. He had a healthy number of children, and almost all of them went on to spawn as well. Any one of these kids could be relatives of his. It was a creepy thought, and one that gave him an odd feeling in his stomach.

Trying to push that from his mind and focus on the task at hand, he headed down a corridor to the left in search of quieter places.

She lifted up her gaze from the floor up to the new adult figure that entered the room, feeling like she knew this fox. Quickly enough she realized who it could very well be, given his markings ...similar to hers. While Sendo and Radius had more of Tsuji's look, Seira resembled her father with fur color and markings. "D-Daddy?"

The fox meant to say 'dad' or 'father' but 'daddy' just seemed to flow out of her mouth. Was it really Evander? Even if it was, she was sure to make a fool out of herself in some way, shape or form. It just had to be him though, didn't it? The only other one she knew with the markings was Kon and even he didn't completely match.

Evander brought up short as his gaze fell on the female fox curled up on the couch, staring at him with wide eyes. Well, he had come looking for his family for a visit, and here she was.

Daddy? He couldn't recall her ever calling him that, even when she had been young. He didn't mind it as such, he was just startled. It wasn't a role he easily fell into.

"Seira," he said in a soft but gruff voice, and walked slowly into the room. "Er... How have you been?" It seemed like a pathetic thing to say after not seeing each other for so long, but he felt he had to say something. The brown fox scratched the back of his head and looked at her sheepishly as he waited for a reply.

Seira stood up and wrapped her arms around him, resting her head on his shoulder. "I missed you," The girl said softly in an attempt not to cry, not from sadness but from surprise and an overwhelming sense of happiness.

Not letting go of him she finally got around to his question, "I'm a little overwhelmed at the moment but I guess I'm alright, what about you? Is Kon staying out of trouble? What have you been up to?"

The awkward fox had been steadily improving on his comfort level when it came to physical contact, and he felt he had become rather good at it through repeated exposure. Kon's tendency to cling to fluffy tails had certainly helped.

As a result, he didn't flinch or pull away when his daughter embraced him, and even managed to give her a squeeze. "I've missed you too," he replied honestly.

"Heh," he continued, thinking of Kon. "The fool's been pretty good, hasn't burned down the house or anything so far. I think he needs to get out more, maybe settle down with someone and finally move out." He smiled at the thought, then moved on to questions about himself.

"I've been good, I guess, as good as I can be." In reality, he'd been rather depressed as of late, but he wasn't about to tell anybody this. "I've been gardening, believe it or not."

"Gardening? I never knew you gardened..." In truth she didn't know much about him to begin with but she didn't figure he'd be one to garden, it seemed like a relaxing hobby though. Maybe in the spring the girl would try to plant a couple window boxes full of bright, lively flowers and pray that she wouldn't end up forgetting to water them.

Seira smiled a bit as she heard what her brother was up to while remembering his habit of clinging onto other foxes and their fluffy tails. "Well not burning down the house is a good thing. Maybe he should hang out around here some? I live with many available waywards..." She smirked to herself, not entirely sure what she got herself into but if Kon was involved in anyway it was bound to be fun.

"Oh! I have something to tell you..."

He had never exactly seen himself gardening either, but he had taken up the hobby during the summer as a way to relax his nerves. "Yeah, the path to our house is lined with trees now, and there's a fairly large bed of flowers out front. It's a new hobby of mine."

"Hmm," he continued, one ear flicking to the side as he pondered Kon's social life, or lack thereof. "That actually might be a good idea. Know of anyone you could introduce him to if I sent him over to you? You seem like the kind of person who would know what to do in this kind of situation." She was female, and that was about the extent of Evander's logic. Women knew about these things, right?

"Oh?" He inquired as she said she had something to tell him, and at the same time gently disengaged himself from the hug that they hadn't broken. He had walked there, and would rather like to get off of his feet.

'If only he knew.' The girl thought after hearing her father talk about how it would be a good idea if Konstantine comes over and she introduces him to a seemingly available female from her house. The truth was, Seira wasn't the go to girl when it comes to relationships or mates. "I-I guess I can try, I'm not very good at setting people up ...never really tried." Which was one of the partial truths the fox had come to known.

"Ugh, why don't you sit down first? I don't know how you'll take it..." She smiled warmly, not knowing how her father would react knowing he was now a great great grandfather. Did he ever meet his grandchildren let alone his great grandchildren?

His daughter seemed to be slightly uncomfortable at the mention of Konstantine coming over, and the possibility of setting him up. Or maybe he was just being paranoid. If she was upset, she'd say so, right? With a shrug, he sat down on the large brown couch beneath the window.

The sunlight streamed down over his fur, warming him as he stretched out across the couch and made himself comfortable. The others in the house liked to mock him at times for "sunning himself like a cat".

Evander had to admit he was a bit nervous to hear whatever it was she needed to tell him, since she had told him to sit down first. But he was ready to face it head on. "Shoot," he said, bracing himself.

In truth, she was not upset with her brother coming over or with setting him up with someone from her house. The fact of the matter was that with all that happened at the beginning of the year, Seira was skeptical about her luck with relationships and finding mates for others.

"Okay! Well I don't know how you'll react to the fact that you're now a great great grandfather." Seira said with a soft, happy smile. It was amazing to see how far the family line has gotten.

"I'm a what?" was all he could manage to spit out, and that was after several seconds of confused silence. He knew his children were prolific, but his children's children as well? Just how many of the tykes running around this place carried his genes?

Evander honestly wasn't sure how he felt about all of this. Sure, it was the genetic imperative of everyone to continue the family line, have a successor, and all of that. He had a whole army of those running around now though, and he didn't even know most of them. Maybe that was what bothered him. He didn't know these children (or adults, as was the case a lot of the time now). He didn't know what they were like or how well they upheld his family name.

Quickly coming to a decision that he hoped he wouldn't regret, he told his daughter, "I'd really like to meet more of the family."

“I think you ended up taking it better then dad did, he’s not all that exited about being a great great grandfather; he thinks he old now.” She mused, surprised that Evander took it better then she thought he would. Actually, just surprised in his reaction in general …maybe that’s why she thought he should sit down?

Seira’s ears perked up after hearing her fathers last statement and smiled slightly, finding it nice that he wanted to meet everyone and trying to think of who she had in the house exactly. “Ugh, we have Kenji and Miley …those two are Radius’s children, Takeshi which is one of Kenji’s children and I think you live with Gardenia? I also have Sakiko and she’s one of Sendo’s, and Saki, Solemn and Sayuri.” She listed with a proud tone, feeling older then Tsuji felt at that point. “Sayuri is your great great grandson.” Not realizing their were more people then she thought their were, she wasn’t even going on about the rest of Sendo or Radius’s children or grandchildren.
