Even though they were inside now, she was still not happy. Snuggling deeper into her coat and pressing into her guardian like her life depended on it (as it might if the circumstances were just right), Cordelia couldn't understand what they were doing here. As they sat on a small white bench off to the side near the entrance they'd come through earlier, her ever-staring eyes garnered some equal stares of its own. Though not all were as pleasant and curious as others.
The Basilisk huffed in displeasure. It was too cold here near the entrance as everyone kept coming and going like they did, sending up biting currents of cold air their way. And it was sooooo crowded! Ebony had mentioned something about another big holiday like that of Halloween coming up soon, but it still didn't explain why so many of the bipeds were bustling about here now. What was so special about this Christmas anyway?
Ebony glanced down at the digital counter on her brand new phone, bought quickly after the last had met its tragic end. It wasn't that Alex and Zul were late, and it wasn't that either her or the Snake girl had any other plans today. It was simply the fact that the woman was a stickler for absolute punctuality. She sighed, realizing she'd have to work on being forgiving for that if she was to be friends with others. Friends...it was still such an odd concept for Ebony to have actual friends.

If ever there was a day that Alex was late, it would be because of the milling people that were driving her absolutely bonkers.
The Italian was trying not to seethe, clenching her jaw and looking rather put-out by the slow teeder and totter of the populace around her. Indeed, her jaw was clamped tight, her cheek muscles clenching in time with the Christmas music that was only serving to add a bow to the wrapping of madness. Alex liked the time of year, but it seemed Ebony and she had picked a bad day to do smart shopping.
Her arms crossed over her chest while she waited for a family with a small gaggle of kids to pass her by, bare fingers tucked against her gloved palm into fists so she wouldn't drum them with impatience. She wore a mandarin style leather jacket that was only buttoned just above her navel, a hunter green square-necked shirt tucked into dark grey jeans. It wasn't her usual brand of clothing, but most of her stuff was packed in light of the move that would be taking place shortly. To say it was an improvement over her standard tank top was an understatement.
With the small herd out of the way, Alex and her charge entered the mall, green eyes ticking around for the two they were meeting. The dark femme Frei and the violet-haired woman shouldn't be too hard to find in the mess, or so she hoped. "Remember, she's--"
"Stormy," the demon breathed, and he was gone.
He could almost feel the exasperated look his woman gave him, but he didn't pay it much mind. Being a floating torso gave him some advantage of movement, his form agile and his ribbon easily wafting around those who crossed his path, their momentum causing just enough eddies of air with the constantly open and shut entrance that the dark lower half of him seemed to have a life of its own. Zul flitted through the masses and zeroed in on the two women, floating over to them with a wide smile.
His eyes were the vibrant blue of before, but more clear as though faceted, a stark contrast to his burnt-creme hair. Tanned arms extended to the women, although he made no move to dip down and hug them, simply holding the inviting gesture with an excited beat of his bone-framed wings. "Ebony," he greeted the woman in a cool, smooth tone, his voice full of smoke and snow that had not yet fallen. His wild blue eyes turned to the Basilisk, and Zul grinned. "Stormy," he purred, "Cordelia."
Alex came up behind him after he cooed the Frei's name, smiling as she rounded his beating wings and waved her hand. "Hey, Ebony, sorry if we're late. Short of a mass genocide, I don't even think Santa would be on time in this hoopaloo." The Italian jutted her lower lip out and gave the throngs of people a disapproving glance, allowing her expression to again warm into happiness at seeing the two.
Healthy. Whole. She couldn't have asked for anything more.

As the half formed youth clung to her side like a barnacle, Ebony had been watching a pair of children across the way jumping up and down with excitement. They were anxiously pulling on their parents clothing and pointing towards the direction of Santa's Village. Although it was an adorable sight (the children), the Brit was very thankful not to have agreed to doing that sort of charity work again this year. It had been less than degrading to wear the unfitting in more ways than one Miss Claus outfit they'd provided. Never again would she allow herself to go through that sort of humiliation ever.
Two sets of grey eyes blinked then as Zul magically appeared before them, effectively blocking Ebony's view of the family she'd been watching. She didn't mind and merely smiled at the youth. Nodding her violet head in greeting, "Zul, it's good to see you again."
Ebony had just been about to detach the girl when she all but snapped into action and snaked her way into the Baphomet's welcoming arms without hesitation. A huge grin lighting her own scaled features as she hugged him tight. Finally, a being as warm as her beloved fire at home! "Zuuul!" came her excited exclamation. Although brief, Delia's voice had drawn out his name long enough for all to hear their velvety undertones, no doubt the product of her essence.
"Ello Alex. It's..." The Brit stopped short when an unfamiliar voice broke her concentration. It had squealed the demon Frei's name and so Ebony couldn't help but gap a bit at her Raevan who was currently snuggling Zul affectionately then, leeching as much warmth from him as she could. "D-...did she just speak?!" The woman's eyes looked about ready to pop out of her head then.

Somehow, the demon's grin widened as Cordelia was suddenly launching at him, hugging him. His strong arms immediately enfolded the dark femme into an equally tight embrace, wings beating to keep them both upright and counter the momentum of her hug. Zul moved his head back just enough to look down into her smiling face, the sound of his name on her lips not unlike the feel of a cat rubbing on one's sk--
Her voice?
Blue eyes grew a touch larger, freezing for a few heart beats as surprise registered on his features. Then, with a joyous sound of laughter, he wrapped her up in another embrace, rewarding the single word with a spike of his body temperature. Bone wings curved around him to also wrap around her, acting as a blanket as he twirled them around a time or two in his excitement. "Stormy, you do talk!" the demon delighted in the revelation. "Such a voice! A pretty voice," he affirmed, all too content to act as a personal heater for the cold-blooded Frei.
Alex's expression wasn't far off from Ebony's, her mouth slightly agape. She was certain that the newborn hadn't spoken yet, and her suspicion was only confirmed by the violet-haired woman's complete shock. After staring and hearing her own charge reply, the Italian finally fell into light laughter, resting a hand on Ebony's shoulder. "She's...she does have a beautiful voice," the woman offered with a large grin, "and better yet, she's...she'll be okay. She's healthy."
She shared her thoughts from just moments before, smiling at the two Raevans, her heart so full she felt she might burst. Cordelia wasn't traumatized or 'broken' with all she had experienced after just being born! Alex could only fathom how strong the dark female's will was to continue on without a hitch. The Italian was immensely proud of the newborn. "Ain't that a Merry Christmas," she mused out loud, dropping her hand and chuckling. She'd at least give Ebony some time to revel in that special moment before they started their grisly adventure into Holiday Hell.

Soon they were twirling round and round while Zul laughed with glee. It wasn't long before Cordelia found herself caught up in the momentum and was giggling as well. His excitement along with his praise was something of a heady feeling for the Basilisk and it made her extremely happy to see him happy. Her grin reached from ear to ear while she began to wonder how else more she could do to make him happy. If she learned to speak in their language rather than just mimic his name, would that please him too?
Watching the Raevans floating about in a crazy circle like that was beginning to give Ebony a headache, so the Brit looked away towards her human friend. At the woman's kind words, the violaceous female gave a mixed sort of smile. "Hmm...I wonder. She maybe healthy now, but I don't know if she's really okay. Her not talking gives me little in the ways of what's going on in that head of hers. And up until just now..." Her slated orbs slide to the duo briefly before returning their gaze to Alex. "Cordelia has been rather melancholy. Though I don't know if this is merely due to the current weather. You know how she dislikes cold."
The woman sighed and shook her head realizing this wasn't the place or time to be dwelling on such speculative thoughts. For all she knew, Cordelia could very well be as untraumatized as Alex thought she was. The cold being the only reason to her previous misery. "I'm sorry Alex. Enough gloomy talk. We're here to get into the Christmas spirit right? Right!" She nodded and began walking, not letting the others a chance to give her a true answer. "So how have you two been?"

Zul was utterly charmed. It made him very happy to see Cordelia laughing, speaking, as unfettered and lovely as she should have been on the very first day they met. His spinning came to a slow halt, withdrawing his wings from her to give her more room to move, one arm still around her back while the other rested again at his side. The demon began to float onward again, though if the Basilisk would let him, it would be with her tucked against his side.
"Are you excited to shop?" he asked, not really expecting an answer. His eyes rested comfortably upon Delia's scaled eyes, giving her the majority of his attention, only glancing away to make sure he wasn't going to run her into something unyielding. "I've got money set aside for gifts this year. I hope we find good things." Zul smiled a bit, wings giving a brief stretch and whisk of contentment before settling against his back again. The cold always made him more alive, and it was all he could do not to zip around and shout his laughter to the sky. He lifted his free hand, each digit lifting as he ticked off names, "Alix, Bear, maybe Zeke...and Rivener."
The curve of his lips tugged his smile into something a bit on the sly side. "And Stormy, if she finds something she likes..."
Alex fell into step next to Ebony, letting the woman's concerns pass for the time being. It was natural, to worry and question, and if the violet-haired woman didn't want to discuss it just then, then the Italian was not about to push. This was a time for positive thoughts and joy! Readjusting her sleeves again, her smile softened a little. "It's been a little rough," she admitted, "since it seems Zul doesn't remember a lot of what happened." She didn't want to elaborate or alarm Ebony by showing her arms. What was in the past should stay there, as far as she was concerned.
"But," the word came out slowly, thoughtfully, "he seems to be a bit more...I guess mature." She tilted her head and nodded at her choice of wording. "Yeah, mature. He's calmed down a bit and it seems he's more focused and speaking a bit more clearly. I worry about him, but he's so damn resilient. I wish I had a fraction of his energy!" Alex laughed, glancing over her shoulder to make sure the two were still with them, her shoulders relaxing a little as she allowed herself to believe that things would truly get better. "We're doing well, just packing and preparing for the move."
Her green eyes flit momentarily to Ebony. "You holding up okay, everything aside?"

When their humans began to move further onward into the healthy stream of Christmas shoppers, Cordelia allowed Zul to lead her after them easily enough. Yet, she'd found the positioning of his arm around her an awkward way to float. Immediately she repositioned it so that his arm was back at his side and entwined her own around his strong bicep. With a contented sigh, the Basilisk gently laid her head against his shoulder. Anyone passing the pair of floating torsos would have thought them to be a cuddling couple the way she clung to him so. Of course this wasn't the case. It was merely two friends greatly enjoying one another's company.
She smiled and nodded at his question although Delia really could care less about the shopping. The Snake still didn't know what was so special about this Christmas thing. Though she did have to admit, all the sparkling decorations were very pretty. Much better than the dark and drabness of Halloween. She especially liked all the green.
Cordelia heard him rattle off a small list of names and found she only recognized a few, one being Rivener's. The thought of the Scorpion made her smile dip into a small pout. She still didn't know what to do to apologize for attacking him, twice no less. Maybe she could get him...what was it they had called it? A present? Gifts? Whatever, one of those boxy things with the pretty paper. It seemed to make everyone else happy so maybe it would make Rivener happy too.
At the mention of Zul not remembering anything, Ebony gave a quick glance behind them to the two Freis. Did Cordelia remember anything? Perhaps if she simply forgot like the Demon had, then what a relief that would be! No one so young should have so many bad experiences in their early days. Long buried memories of her own childhood began to bubble up, but the Brit shook her head quick to suppress them. She did not want to remember.
"I wish...I wish I'd been able to be there more for you. Both of you. Especially after all you two did for us. I feel like I owe you." She gave a rueful smile before stopping short and forgetting the new question posed to her just now. "Wait...moving? You're moving? Where?! When?!" Ebony couldn't help the sudden hysteria building in her. Just when she'd thought she'd found a kindred spirit, a true girl friend, fate saw it fit to punish her and send her away? That just wasn't fair!

A light chuckle escaped the demon, his free hand lifting to light over the fingers holding his arm. Zul didn't much care what anyone thought of their appearance, so long as they kept their opinions to themselves; he was happy, right then, perfectly content, and woe befall anyone who would try to take that moment from him.
He picked up on the pout, dark brows lifting with a most amused smile. "You don't like Rivener?" he inquired, playing to the idea that he didn't remember anything. She was young enough that he hoped she could forget all that had transpired, in time, or perhaps not think too much of it. Truthfully, Zul knew that what had happened was bad, but even then, with her nestled against him so warmly, he did not know why. He had a lot of growing up to do, it seemed.
"Do you want to get something for Ebony?" he posed the question thoughtfully, wondering if Cordelia would know Ebony well enough to get her anything at all. It was the thought that counted, he supposed (and so he'd been told), but he would do his best to help as he could.
Alex shook her head, tucking a stray strand of hair behind her ear. "You don't owe m--" The woman actually jumped at Ebony's sudden sharp questions, green eyes wide with guilt. Was that the wrong thing to say? She gave the violet-haired femme a lop-sided grin, holding her hands upright as if to ward off the feisty woman's upset. It reminded her of Aphismet's expression when she told him she was moving during their date, and for some reason, having it come from Ebony...it touched her. "Um, anytime now, actually, and not far! I'm moving in with my boyfr-...well, Aphi! You know Aphi!" He was there to help find Cordelia, that meant he and Ebony were friends, right? "I doubt Kyou would let me move any further," she added jokingly, lowering her hands into her pockets again.
"Have you been to his place? Aphi's, that is," she corrected herself. "It's huge...it'll be so weird to have so much space." Her expression was momentarily far away, reflecting, before she came back to herself with a mischievous smile. "I'm hoping to get Aphi something really fantastic for Christmas. They have that big kitchen shop here, I wanted to stop by to look for something special for him."

Her dark ponytail snapped as the girl shook her head profusely. "Ri-ri-vee-ner...Rivener...Delia..." She muttered and sighed not knowing how to explain to him how she felt about the older Raevan. That it was Rivener that didn't like her and had every right to after what she'd done to him.
Thankfully, Zul changed subjects then and now the girl was looking between him and her guardian. Get something for Ebony? Her brows hitched into a thoughtful furrow. Her woman liked a lot of things from what she'd observed. Books and plants, her exercises or whatever it was called, and music. But above all, the woman loved anything remotely the shade of purple. Just like Cordelia favored anything green. But how to tell the demon?
Slowly she nodded her head in response to his second question before pulling on her hair and pointing at Ebony's lavish locks. Delia couldn't be sure whether her idea was coming across clear to the other, but at least she was trying. Hopefully he would understand or get the gist of it.
"Oh...well I guess that makes sense." Now it was Ebony's turn to feel somewhat guilty. She knew better than to allow her emotions to draw conclusions for her. A huff of embarrassed relief before she gave a small smile and continued on their path once more. "Sorry, I got...carried away or something...anyway that's great news! Congratulations. And yes I'm there quite often actually. I've been instructing Aphismet on self defense and hand to hand combat for awhile now." A thoughtful look crossed her features then. How long had it been? A year or two? My how time flies.
Alex's mention of getting him something special for Christmas was what brought the woman back from her brief reverie. The Brit had known the Delarans for awhile now and aside from getting a few random gifts for their Raevans, Ebony had not once thought of getting them, the guardians, something. Especially not for Christmas. In the Shade household there wasn't much for gift giving when there was only two in the current family and no real friends to speak of. No, this holiday had always been reserved for charity work and gifting to those less fortunate. But now times were changing, and perhaps Ebony should too.
"We can stop there first if you want. It's pretty close by. And I should probably get them something as well. Though...I really don't know what they would like."

Zul couldn't help but laugh softly, squeezing the arm in his grasp affectionately. Oh but she had such a lovely voice! He selfishly hoped she would use it a bit more, just so he might remember it better. Blue eyes were captivated by the young Frei's motions, watching her own grey orbs turn between himself and Ebony, waiting for some type of sign - and there! She did not disappoint, though he was amused by the way she tugged on her own hair and then pointed to her Guardian.
The demon cast a glance towards the woman in question, noting the similarities and differences, listing them off for Cordelia to tell him what it was she was thinking. "Hair. Long hair, in a tail?" That was the obvious, naturally. Subtlety wasn't his specialty, though he tried. "Clips? Yours is black, like my woman's, hers is violet."
The Italian laughed with a good-natured shake of the head. "Apologize? For what? You've done nothing wrong, but make me feel like it'd be a great injustice not to tell my friends when such important things are happening." Her eyes sparkled with her words; to consider Ebony as a friend was an amazing and exciting prospect. The next part made her dark brows lift, surprise on her features. "A while? And we never met? I'm going to have to give him a what-for!" Alex chuckled at the revelation, understanding his remarkable physique and trying to push the image of Aphismet's shirtless descent into the pool out of her mind before her cheeks became too red.
Right, gifts! She exhaled through her teeth, grinning all the while. "Honestly, I'm not sure if Aphi even has what I want to get him. It's for cooking, of course, I swear it's a way of life for him, not just his job!" The grin warmed into a fond smile, thinking kindly of the white-haired man who had no idea he was the source of the two women's interest at that point in time. "As for the rest of the fam, that was a little harder." Alex turned her eyes briefly to her companion. "For Rivener, I was thinking of maybe a few fancy outfits, or a gift certificate - or a piece of jewelry," her gaze flicked briefly over her shoulder towards the Frei to indicate whose idea that had been.
"Eiry, I want to replace some of the books he lost recently. Or get him a few poetry books of poets that I personally enjoy. Isi..." She sucked in her bottom lip in thought. "He's harder to think of. That boy has been selfless ever since I've known him, but I think...I can pull some strings and get him tickets to see Pagliacci performed with Cavalleria rusticana. It was his Halloween costume a few years ago." Alex gave the violet-haired woman a faint smile. "For as much as I love the kid, I just don't know what to do for him. Then there's my brother and his boyfriend to think about, and Kyou! Zul wants to get gifts for some of the Raevans. Gah! So many!" She threw her hands up before crossing her arms, acting frustrated although her grin betrayed her mirth, "Who am I kidding? I love this time of year!"

A frustrated sigh escaped her dark lips as she shook her head at every bit of detail the Demon provided her with. It was becoming very clear very quickly that Cordelia would have to learn their words and soon. It was so utterly vexing not being able to simply share her thoughts with another through mere voice alone.
Violet? That was the same as purple right? The girl clapped her hands and nodded rapidly at her friend's last statement. Again Delia pointed at her female and drew a heart with her fingers. Would he understand that she was saying that Ebony loved purple?
"Yes you will. As shall I." she promised with a shrewd grin of her own. Though it wasn't said in so many words, the two women seemed to have agreed that they should have met much sooner. And that to Ebony was a very good sign for their blossoming friendship. "Hmm...whether Aphismet has it or not, I'm sure he could use another what with all the cooking he does. So when the old one breaks down he'll have a new one already to go thanks to you."
She smiled and then thought on what Alex was saying about the three other Delarans. Surely anything she got Rivener now would never measure to the telescope from earlier in the year. She sighed, what she wouldn't give to have saved it for now instead. "I guess you're right. Rivener and Eirdirsceol are pretty straightforward with what is they like. Isikoro..." Ebony sighed, blowing a strand of hair out of her face along with it. She couldn't admit to the Italian that her and the serious youth weren't exactly friends. In fact, the woman hadn't seen the other since her soul capture. Yet she was positive that he had not forgiven her in her errors of that day.
"Well...he's a lot harder to read than the others." She stopped to open the glass doors to a store with lots of shiny new appliances and kitchenware. Hopefully they would have what Alex was looking for in stock. "Wow, I need to re-think my list. Honestly, I was only getting a gift or two for Cordelia and some toys for the orphanage."
Speaking of the smokey girl, Ebony turned to the closely linked Freis. She raised a brow at the sheer intimacy of it, but said nothing. Best not to put ideas into their young minds. "Cordelia, we're going in here for a few minutes. You can come if you want, but don't touch anything." The Brit was sure to emphasis that last part while eying the girl's sharp wings. One wrong move and those things could do some major damage. "Though if you and Zul want, you can stay out here too. We shouldn't be too long."
Cordelia gave her guardian a painfully slow blink before turning to Zul, looking for what he wanted to do. She'd follow her personal space heater where ever he wanted to go.

Another smile tugged at his lips. It might take a while for them to learn how to most efficiently communicate, but the demon was not in a hurry. His blue eyes dipped down to the curve of her fingers, which cutely formed the shape of a heart. Did that mean Cordelia loved Ebony? Or that she liked her hair? Zul shook his head slightly in apology, offering in a quiet voice, "Point something out if you see something she'd like. We'll work that way."
The Italian was just about smiling ear to ear at Ebony. She could not have asked for a better partner in crime, and there was no mistake that the two may have just entered in such a state without meaning to. Alex easily misunderstood Ebony's reaction to Isikoro as an agreement of difficulty to determine what the teen liked. "That he is," she agreed, "but I think that's just part of being a teenager." Nevermind that the white-haired teen was as far from typical as possible, it was still an endearing idea.
Her eyebrows lifted at the mention of rethinking the list, though her expression softened at the last portion. "That's very mighty of you," she remarked warmly, though anything else she might have said was distracted as they came up to the kitchen store. Green eyes turned inwards to the store, then back to the Raevans, giving them a light smile. "It wont be too long - I know what I'm looking for. Either way, both of you be careful with all the people around, okay?" She meant it more as a warning against running into others or getting lost, but she trusted them to have more sense than that.
Entering the store with eyes that betrayed her excitement, she giggled and indicated all the goods in an animated fashion, very much the kid in the candy store. "Look at all this! Ah, I have to bring Aphi here some day so we can just bask - but for now!" She stood up straight to indicate her willpower of not dallying, "It's a copper pot. There's a set, and I was thinking, maybe I could get him one a month...they're made in the Italian alps..." Alex bit her lip to stop herself. She was about to enter rambling-mode and that wasn't safe for anyone. "Anyway, they're top of the line, really nice stockpots. I hope he doesn't have any yet."
His blue eyes turned to the women, nodding his understanding before they disappeared into the store, before looking back to Cordelia. If they were to plan something, now would be the time when they couldn't overhear them. "We'll make a plan," he voiced his thoughts, turning to face Cordelia, though he kept her arm looped with his. "I want to get Rivener either something to wear or a camera, because he likes those things." With his limited knowledge of Cordelia's posed thoughts to him, he tried to sort out what she had shown him; that Ebony's hair was purple, and a heart. It could go a few ways...
"We can look for...things that are purple, or hair places, along the way. If you see something, let me know and I'll get my woman to distract yours. Secrecy is important," the demon explained, probably saying more in those moments with the Basilisk than he had in one sitting all his life.

Though she trusted Zul to keep her charge safe and out of trouble, Ebony was still very weary of letting the Basilisk out of her sights, most evident by the way her silver eyes lingered on the two before she followed Alex into the store. A mother's worry perhaps. No matter how okay things were or seemed, they always worried for the future unknowns.
Her worries were soon dashed with the way her friend fidgeted in place at all the items in the store. Ebony's mouth twitched into a bemused smile. Aphismet would have been drooling at all the inventory as well. So it must have been so hard for Alex to just get one gift for him when she wanted to get him so much more. Meanwhile the Brit had to think what she should get the white haired chef. She didn't want to outshine Alex's gift because that just wouldn't be right. A brand new cookbook bursting with all sorts of new recipes perhaps?
"When it comes to being a cook, I don't think you could ever have too many pots." Ebony chuckled. Pointing to an area a few feet away. "I think the pots are over there."
Cordelia listened and nodded happily at Zul's words. She had no idea that to compensate for her lack of speech, the Demon was speaking so much more than he normally did. In fact most people seemed to do that a lot and Delia merely assumed that it was the norm for most.
Giggling as he emphasized the importance of secrecy with a sly press of his gloved finger to his lips and a wink, the Snake started floating away from the store their guardians had disappeared into, pulling Zul along with her. The Frei wasn't worried about getting lost, in fact she was excited at the prospect of venturing off on her own now. Well...alone plus one.

"Truer words were never spoken," the woman sighed with wistful admiration, green eyes wide to try and soak in everything at a glance. She was here for her boyfriend, not to oogle, though she wouldn't be against coming back later to do just that. Alex followed Ebony's indication, giving a nod of affirmation before heading in the indicated direction. The walls were lined with deep-set shelves and glass panes that allowed one to look in to see the immaculate cookware on display. It was gold to the Italian, and deserved to be behind bullet-proof glass as far as she was concerned.
Her eyes followed the display until she ran into the copper pots, and it wasn't just a copper bottom; the whole thing was copper and plated inside, the lid crested with a golden acorn, a small plaque in front of them stating how they were made in the Italian Alps and hammered individually. Alex's excited expression was one most women wore when perusing wedding rings, all joy and enthrallment. "Here, here!" she pointed and was careful not to touch the glass, her gaze immediately falling downwards to search for a sealed box and proper size. The three digit price tag didn't even earn a bat of an eyelash.
She kneeled, picking a box behind the display to make sure it was the least tampered with, standing with a smile full of childish joy. Her hands could barely touch the opposite wrist, her arms were so full of the copper stockpot. "Done!" she quipped happily. "Unless you wanted to look around for something, of course," she amended hastily, her grin lop-sided and jovial.
Zul often found himself being lead, he reflected, as he was pulled into the mall without hesitation. He held onto her hand to make sure he wouldn't lose her in the bustle of bundled bodies, rustling his wings only when it seemed the crush of humans was too much even for him. The bone length of his frame and the light jangle of his piercings was enough to give them enough of a berth if needed, though any impatient shopper would be downright insane to try and encroach on the sharp-winged femme barreling through the mob.
The demon was fine with whatever Cordelia had planned, even if he was none-the-wiser. He floated just fast enough to stay close behind her, noting stores they passed with a distant interest. Zul had his own plans for Christmas this year, and had the Basilisk not pulled him off and on her way, he would have broken free of his woman himself. This just spared him the hassle of making an excuse!
