The blond, Novice battle teach was taking a break in the pool. She floated in the pool wearing her under shirt and some shorts; the rest of her cloths and a towel were put some where dry. In the water with her was her Dewgong and Dragonair, both pokemon quiet enjoying being in water and swimming. Normally it would be surprising to see Elil doing something as relaxing as float in the water, but since the end of the last school year she had been spending the vacation at her Grandfather's home, like most of her vacations. Although, many things happened there. One being that Elil had found out her grandfather was getting sickly. Sure, he was a very old man; his granddaughter was nearly thirty! Just knowing that should be indication that he was a fairly old man. Still, it was surprising when he started getting sick. Elil had never thought of the man getting sick a dying. She would of liked to stay there until he got better, but she knew that most likely would not happen, and she could start off the school year with a substitute teacher. Elil closed her eyes and sighed; this all was something she never wanted to deal with. Then, something bumped into her, making her stop floating. She never sunk, only had to started swimming in place. " Dewgong," the water ice pokemon apologizing for bumping into his trainer sadly.
" Alright, then," Elil responded before patting the pokemon on his head. The seal lion pokemon made a happy wimpering noise before swimming away to the dragonair once again. The dragon pokemon gave the pokemon a glare that simply screamed 'fool.' The pokemon apologized again. Elil smiled at her pokemon. She needed to cheer up, or else others would notice she wasn't feeling her usual self, like her pokemon had noticed.

Elil looked up when she heard the voice of a student. " Morning Kimberly. Say, aren't you in my class this year?" Elil greeted back, then asked. The dewgong to immediately notice of the new pokemon in the water and swam over to it. The sea lion was slightly tempted to try and eat the krabby, but had enough self restraint to not even try. The dragonair however was more interested in the people; quickly swimming over to Elil and wrapping herself on her trainer's waist while using Elil shoulder as a perch for her head. " As for how was my break. Well let's see.. If you couldn't tell by now, my magmar burnt off nearly all my hair," Elil said as she showed how short her hair was with her free, non-wrapped hand. Before the break Elil's blond braids were fairly long, mid-back or something close to that. Now her hair is to short to really braid at all. " Other then that, nothing very interesting. You?" Elil was trying to get a conversation going with the student.

" Hah, well that's good. Honestly, I think the beginning battle class is a bit too easy. Novice battling s when students need to start training. You'd be surprised at what students don't know when they come to my class," Elil started on a little rant, only stopping when she remembered she was going to say the same thing the next day to her whole class. The dewgong was not offended or anything when the krabby seemed to not really notice him, because the pokemon was pretty oblivious at time, too. Elil's liking of her hair being long was purely because her Skarmary liked it so much. When ever Elil let it down the bird pokemon played with it, and when ever her grandfather saw the bird playing with it he'd joke that she was trying to build a nest on Elil's head. She smiled that at remembering the joke, only to feel sad that she'd probably never hear it again. " You think? Well, I never said it was all that bad. Oh, and that's good. It's not every day you see a Magnemite, or a Farfetch'd," Elil responded while her dragonair finally lost interest and started swimming away to the Dewgong. When the sea lion pokemon saw the dragon pokemon headed towards him he lost all interest in the krabby to try and get the dragonair to play with him. " Actually, I don't normally go swimming, usually if I come here it's to use the gym equipment, or I go to the track and field to train," Elil told her student. Then, an idea popped into Elil's mind. " Hey, how about a before school battle? Your krabby against my Magmar, Maghnemite against my dewgong, and you Farfetch'd against my Primeape or Exeggutor," Elil offered, purposely giving her stronger pokemon a type disadvantage. " We could even battle in here," she tried to make it even harder on the magmar to make the battle a bit more even.
" Dewggoonngg!" the pokemon lifted his head and called in agreement. Sure, the student's pokeballs where in the other room, but that could easily be fixed.

" Well, that's why your in my class, and that's why they call it training," Elil stated before Kim left the room to go get her pokemon and what not. While the red head was gone(even though it's orange hair, she's still called a red head) Elil got out of the pool as well to get her towel the was against the wall. She was able to dry off a little before the put on her jacket and tied the towel around her hips like a skirt. By that time Kim had come back. As she listened to the girl talk Elil returned her dragonair to the pokeball, seeing how it would not be used in the battle. The dewgong got out of the pool and ungracefully moved himself to the sidelines so not to get in the way of the battle, where ever it would be. " Alright then," Elil agreed to Kimberly's suggestion as she got out the magmar's pokeball and threw it out onto the ground around the pool. " Alright, Smokes, let the Krabby attack first," Elil told the fire pokemon once out of his ball.
" Mag," the fire pokemon said as he blew a small smoke ring and waited for the water pokemon to move.

Elil couldn't help but smile at Kimberly's determined look. She loved when students were determined. The bubblebeam hit the magmar, but didn't make much see able damage. " Alright, Smokes, let's just keep things easy for now and hit it with an Ember," Elil told the magmar.
The fire pokemon than spat on a little fire ball at the crab pokemon. He wasn't the spit fire pokemon for nothing. " May I suggest taking advantage of the pool?" Elil suggested. With all the water the krabby might be able to make a stronger water move.

Elil nearly laughed when Kimberly's temper visually reddened at her suggestion. It was good that the girl remembered Ms. Lendri was a teacher, but bad that she seemed to forget the Elil was battling against her. The krabby went into the water, so his next bubble beam had more water then it did before. Smokes, confident in his ability, let the move hit him right in his gut. It was stronger then he expected, making him take a few steps back. " Now that it's in the water, let's cook this crab," Elil said jokingly. She wasn't really going to cook the pokemon; if she cooked it(which implies killing) then she would defiantly lose her job, amongst other things. With the order the Magmar started Lava Plum at the water, not pokemon. The move shot much fire into the water, sizzling and smoking as it did so. Her plan was to raise the temperature of the water and give the pokemon a burn. She did hope Kimberly would be able to learn from this battle. But, she had gone into battle knowing Elil was stronger, and by the end of the year Kimberly would be able to beat Elil. It was that way every year,and Elil would lose to third years sometimes. There was no shame in that for Elil, though. It just meant she did a good job teaching them.

Elil had hopped that battle with the krabby would of lasted longer. She still does have potential, Elil thought as she watched the little krabby hop about. The water sizzled and steamed from the heat shot in, and under the water was some black, burnt mess in spots. The teacher would have to fish them out after the battle. And, well, she did slightly wonder who might be watching the battle right then. Still, Smokes tried to move when the krabby went at it with the claws. He turned to move away from the little pokemon, only to leave his tail right from the gripping. The moment the claw grasped onto the fire pokemon Smokes turned his head and started a Flamethrower at the crab pokemon.
" I think ember would of been good enough," Elil reminded her pokemon, unimpressed by how quick he was to do such a move.
" Magmar," the pokemon slowly said, as it talked smoke coming from his mouth. Pretty easy to tell why his name was Smokes, right?
