Another one of these days.. Karmi thought, pulling her bright yellow sweater tighter around her as she made her way slowly through the packed school hallway. Light chiming of the Meadowview bell signified the end of yet another soul-breaking day down on its students. She was glad of the end, but had been depressed as of late. The last few days had been nothing but bad luck. Tripping, falling, forgetting homework; Karmi felt the hex weigh down deep upon her.
Failing to take notice of her peers beside her, she moved uncharacteristically slow towards the front exit. Depression and worry had settled down on her. Had walking under the ladder really caused these events? She shuddered. Maybe. Truth be told the only thing that kept her thoughts from swirling around the negative was the fact that she was around others constantly. Even then, however, she was lonely and not looking forward to arriving home to no one again.
"The run might help..." she muttered, feeling the frigid air blow in from the open doors. Karmi was kidding herself. Even with her love of running, she wasn't feeling it today. Squeaks from her shoes dragging on the floor echoed out into the hallway as she reached the doors. Today she wasn't caring about the cold but rather dwelling on her so called curse and the fact that once again she would be without companionship. Only one thought gave her some hope and brought a bit of a smile back into her depressed face. Maybe today I'll meet someone new...

To be frank, being the "new kid" at Meadowview High School, was absolutely terrifying. Whereas Ji-Yeon's previous school, was loaded with dozens of amigos whom she had grown up with, here, the cliques were already set, and a stranger was scorned upon. Experiencing school every day used to be an exciting and varied experience, now, she was feigning illness to her parents. The shy professor mumbled something about the assignment, only to be cut off by the obnoxious bell, which marked the end of the day. For the first time that day, a sincere smile broke onto her face, for finally, Ji-Yeon could let down her "I may be new, but I'm not weak" facade.
Grabbing her numerous folders and binders, and feeling rather bold, she waved goodbye to the teacher, who meekly waved back. That was it! Of course, nobody would want to approach a girl who was obviously putting up a barrier. Ji-Yeon had to be the one putting herself out there, in order to make new friends. Exciting thoughts predicting the near future ran through her mind, as she skipped down the crowded staircase, red accessories jingling, and headed for the nearest exit, only to accidentally be pushed by a rather large boy. Her black pupils widened in fear as she grabbed hold of the nearest person, who's notable feature was a head like cotton-candy. Crap. She wanted to make allies, not enemies.

Karmi had nearly reached the door when she felt two hands grab onto her suddenly. Eyes wide she turned quickly, hand ready to smack at a face if it ended up being one of the guys from the wrestling team. Blinking, she looked down into the large pupils of the a brown haired girl. Her hand lost its tension as she looked at the girl carefully. Had she seen her before?
"Oh, hi." she said, her bad mood shattering around her. I really don't think I've seen this girl before. A small smile appeared on her face. "You alright?" She couldn't help but notice the frightened expression on the girl. Karmi attempted to surf through her internal memory of school mates, her face wasn't in there. "Are you new?" she continued with new found energy.
She had been completely unaware that there had even been a new student. The entire day had been spent in such a foul mood, she must have been blocking everything out. It made her feel a bit awkward that she hadn't noticed until this very moment. Keeping the smile on her face she noticed the girl's long brown hair. Wish my hair was that pretty. She thought to herself, keeping the compliment to herself. No need to rush compliments when just meeting someone.

Annoyed anger flashed through the emerald irises of her victim. Ji-Yeon cringed and closed her eyelids as the girl's hand slightly raised, preparing herself for a tantrum and a harsh slap on the cheek. However, as she timidly opened them once more, the hand was resting in a safe area, and the pink-haired female was merely studying Ji-Yeon.
"Oh, hi. You alright? Are you new?" As she inquired these things, Ji-Yeon released her tension when the fellow student broke into a gentle, warm, grin. This is my chance to make a new friend! She had better not stutter through yet another introduction. While softly toying with the crimson beads in her hair, she shook her head up and down, silk-like hair jumping with excitement. Attempting her most charismatic and friendly smile, she stuck out her right hand, as she introduced herself. "Pleasure to meet you. My name's Ji-Yeon Nae. Is it that obvious?" a slight brush spread across her pale face as she continued, "But yes, I am new!" Having finished introducing herself, her lazy gaze began to fall downward, landing on a silver necklace, worn by the stranger. Compliments sped throughout her cranium, and a common accident occurred, she spoke a thought aloud, "Simply gorgeous." Way to make an impression!

The compliment caught Karmi off guard as her hand moved on its on will to touch the small pendant. "Thank you." she said, then continued on with a small blush on her cheeks. "It's a good luck charm." Moments passed as her bright green eyes glanced over her again. "Oh, my name's Karmi. It's a pleasure to meet you!" she continued with her enthusiasm rising. I really didn't notice her before? She's so elegant... Karmi thought, keeping her smile.
"So did you just move here? Which area?" Karmi inquired on. The girl appeared to be playing with a bright red accessory in her hair, Karmi glanced at it as it glistened. "Wow those are lovely." she said. To be honest she had never seen someone with beads in their hair, at least not at her school. It was becoming less awkward now as the two stood in the hallway. A lot of the masses of school kids around them had already left, hurrying here and there to home and beyond. Karmi was in no hurry. Finally after a long while she had met someone knew. She only hoped she wasn't being too pushy with her excitement.

A good luck charm? How unique! In a good way, of course. The girl totally had an amazing sense of fashion. Her name too, was gorgeous, unlike her traditionally bland one. Karmi's excitement was truly contagious, and the girl couldn't help but omit a peal of laughter.
"Just several days ago, yes. Right nearby the skating rink and the shopping center! It's pretty convenient." Ji-Yeon grinned. She saw her acquaintance's eyes land on the red beads in her hair. "Thank you! Thank you! They've no specific meaning to me, but I've always had them with me since a child, and I'd feel a bit lonely without them. If you'd like, I'd love to do them sometime!" the female slightly blushed at Karmi's compliments; she wasn't used to getting them, but her new friend was filled with them! Happiness flowed in her veins at the prospect of future play-dates.
A realization dawned on her however, that school had already ended, and the ice rink was calling her. Would...Karmi be able to come? Shyly letting her gaze fall towards her crimson sneakers, she inquired, "Umm...I'm going to the ice rink right now...W-would you like to come?" Simply pitiful, she told herself. She had stuttered through a simple sentence!

Ice skating.... The thought ran through her mind a few times. She had been when she was younger, that was for sure. Though those times had ended... unfavorably, Karmi didn't want to lose this chance to make a new friend and have a good time. She nodded at Ji-Yeon with another smile. "Sure, that sounds great! And you can totally show me how to put beads in my hair, they're so pretty." she said, then after a second thought, "Do you have skates I could borrow, maybe?"
In the back of her mind Karmi tried desperately to quell her feelings of being hexed. It would only be harmless fun. Not to mention the dull loneliness that had taken residence in her heart would finally be swept away. Tugging herself away from her thoughts she turned and extended a hand out towards the exit. "Lead the way!" she said, hoping to heaven that nothing would go wrong at the rink. Last thing you want when you first meet someone is a disaster. She thought, taking a step towards the door with Ji-Yeon's gorgeous brown eyes following her movement.

Uncertainty flashed her new friends' pupils. However, that quickly faded into a smile, and a favorable answer. Ji-Yeon grinned in reply. "Thank you, and of course! I've plenty new ones. I just hope they fit." Ice-skating was always a fantastic to meet new friends, and bond with old ones. Karmi pointed towards the exit of the school, taking a step towards the door.
Excitement made every step she took be filled with an extra bounce. Putting on her favorite pink gloves, Ji-Yeon bravely opened the door, braving herself for the cold winter breeze. However, what she had not expected, was the harshness of the weather outside. She had expected some snow, and some shivering to accompany it, but this was...crazy. Even through the smallest peek of the door, hundreds of snowflakes had already sneaked in to the warm haven of a school. "Well...I don't think you want to go out in that. The ice rink is within walking distance, but it's still a twenty minute walk." So, what could be a solution? Both parents wouldn't be able to pick the teenagers up until, several hours later. Aha! "Hey! I've an idea. What do you say, we sprint like there's no tomorrow to my house? Normally, if I walk, it takes five minutes or so. But, if we run, we'll be there in no time." It was a far better idea than ice-skating, and Karmi wouldn't be getting any wounds either, only excited licks from her Jindo dog, Yuna.

Though she shivered a little as the snow was blown forcefully into the hallway, her eyes lit up at the word "sprint". Not even the cold kept her from grinning wide. "Sprinting? Now that sounds like a plan." she said, "Then ice skating will be even greater!" Not even her lack of skating skills was going to ruin a good run and a good time. Kicking her legs a little she limbered up and stepped out onto the snow covered sidewalk. She was prepared.
Looking back she blinked, then laughed a little. "So, which way do you live?" she asked. Taking off without her would be one thing, awful as it would be and Karmi didn't want to think about it, but going off in the wrong direction would be completely ridiculous. "How about you lead and I'll run right by you?" she suggested. Running was fun but without a partner, not to mention without a direction, it wouldn't be quite as fun.

Ji-Yeon grinned in response. Most girls would have frowned at the idea of running, more or less while it was freezing, but Karmi, she was simply enthusiastic! Her new friend's laughter was simply music to her ears. Nodding at Karmi's suggestion, she took the lead. Starting out as a jog at first, she soon picked up speed, occasionally turning her head, and both new friends shared a laugh. After several more right turns, and curvy lefts, they had reached her home. "We're here!" Ji-Yeon chimed excitedly. It was always nice to have a friend come over.
"I'm home!" the Korean female announced, as she opened the wooden door to her house. Normally, a fashionably-dressed woman looking very younger than she actually was, would've greeted the girls cheerfully, carrying plates of food. That was her mother, but it would've seemed she had gone out shopping. "No one's home yet." she explained, with a small shy grin towards Karmi. Just as soon as she said this, her faithful Jindo dog, Yu-Na, bounded down from the second floor, tail wagging, mouth wide open. The canine pounced on Ji-Yeon first, licking her all over, shortly after doing the same to her new friend. She cheerfully watched for a few seconds, than pried Yu-Na away from the victim, and omitted an embarrassed laugh.
"Would you like some tea and sandwiches?" Her mother would've been able to prepare a fantastic feast for the two high-schoolers, but Ji-Yeon's ability was limited. "I assure you, they're not all that bad." she laughed as Yu-Na seemed to nod her head in the background.

Snow had not dampened Karmi's spirits as she ran behind Ji-Yeon, laughing happily as they tossed and turned through the curves to her house. Keeping close behind, Karmi admired the long, silky hair of her new found friend. Stunning. She thought. Finally after a shore while they had stopped and entered into a warm looking household.
Such a kind looking place. She thought, taking in the decor and overall feeling the house gave off. Truly second-to-none in appearing hospitable. Hearing the panting of the dog, she turned and watched as Ji-Yeon's small companion licked warm kisses over it's master, then turned over to her excitedly greeting the newcomer to the abode. Giggling at the sticky licks she helped push the adorable beast away while Ji-Yeon pulled it softly.
At the mention of tea, her eyes grew wide. "Tea sounds great!" She said, smiling wide. "Do you have lemon?" Though it may have been thought of as rude to ask, it was in fact her favorite. The thought that she might get to drink the warm elixir made her mouth water. She was going to be a frequent visitor to this house, that was sure. "I love your house. And your wonderful dog." she added, looking at the decor once more then back to the tail-wagging creature. "So full of warmth and life. Your house and dog both." She said it with a smile. Perhaps the compliment would help soften what could be taken as selfish question.

A sigh of relief that was practically inaudible escaped Ji-Yeon's freshly-glossed lips. Most females preferred their caffeine coming from coffee, and frowned at the mention of tea. It was nice to know that other people appreciated the drink as much as she did! "Lemon?" she grinned, noticing a slight tone of guilt in Karmi's tone. How polite of her! "Good thing you suggested a type! I wouldn't have wanted you to drink a type you didn't like. Lemon, it is!" Ji-Yeon softly giggled, as she brought out her most prized tea set, the Moonlight Rose by Royal Albert. The female couldn't help but blush at all the compliments Karmi was throwing at her, to be quite frank, she wasn't used to it. Putting her focus on her tea, she put her head down, Ji-Yeon mumbled a sincere, "Thank you..." Though Ji-Yeon's reply had been meek, Yu-Na's response wasn't. The female canine always seem to understand only compliment. Instead, she began to wag her ears and tail furiously, letting out an excited bark. Setting the piping hot tea on the table, she cautioned, "Be careful with it! Wouldn't want you to burn that flawless skin of yours," Ji-Yeon complimented. " Two grilled cheeses on the way!" she chimed. Pulling out two ceramic plates from the cabinet, Ji-Yeon began to wonder about what they would talk about. The silence never bothered her, but, Karmi could feel awkward, and that was the last thing she wanted her to feel. Hmm...What did female teenagers want to talk about? The undeniable truth, was most likely, boys. Sliding four slices of toast into an antique toaste, she began to shyly inquire, "Say, Karmi. Do you have a boyfriend?"

Someone actually has lemon tea? Karmi thought excitedly. Bouncing happily to the table she sat down and placed her bag beside her chair. "That tea set is absolutely beautiful." she admired, "I love the blue flowers." Chiming, the tea set was put down as Karmi stared at it. The bark perked her attention as she glanced at the excited pooch. She had never been around dogs, at least that much, but felt it was a good opportunity to observe man's best friend in an enclosed setting. Watching the tail wag was hypnotic and she had to pull herself away.
Blinking, she heard mention of food. "That sounds wonderful." she said, softly, keeping her hands neatly in her lap. Unsure of what to talk about, she mulled over ideas in her mind as she watched Ji-Yeon take the two plates out. It was strange, being over at someone's house and being treated so well. She envied it, thinking of how the last person over at her house had been chased away by her brother's awful antics. Biting her lip, she shook the thought away.
Then the words slid down on her and her face filled with red. "Boy-boyfriend?" she stuttered out. Heated vapors rose from her cheeks as they sunk into a deeper red at the thought. It would probably be the first time really thinking it over. Well... she thought to herself, then glanced at Ji-Yeon with a glimmer in her eyes. "There is this boy I really like. We've hung out a few times and do runs together when he's not busy with other things." Oh, her heart was a-flutter with the feelings. "I think we're yet to be official." she continued on, "but the emotion is there." It was slightly embarrassing, but actually a relief to talk about. She hadn't been able to with anyone besides her mom. The words rolling off her tongue had her afloat.
Abruptly, she came back down. "Is there anyone you've met you like already?" She giggled a little. Yes! Finally she had someone to girl talk with. Watching Ji-Yeon for an answer, she could see the vapors rising from the tea. Still too hot. she thought, then went back to attention.

After cutting the four grilled cheeses into halves, Ji-Yeon divided the number into two, placing them on ceramic plates, as she brought them to the table, Ji-Yeon winked. "I knew it! They say a woman becomes more beautiful when in love." She softly giggled, while biting into a slice, teeth sinking into cheese. "I absolutely know what you mean though...It's better cherishing the times you are together. Say, I'd love to meet him sometime. I'm sure he's got a wonderful character if you're falling for him." Ever since the move to Destiny City, she had longed for a female friend, whom she could share her most inner thoughts with. Gossip about boys, whine about school, together. Wriggling in her seat with excitement, she inquired, "How do you think he feels about you? I've a good guess he feels similar!" Ji-Yeon laughed, Karmi was adorable, blushing and all.
Accustomed to the temperature of tea, she was still cautious as she sipped at the savory taste of lemon. "Me...? Well. I can't really say yes to that. Seeing as I've just moved here, I really don't know any boys!" she shyly laughed. Then again, there were those dreams. "I do have a secret though. I'm only telling you because I trust you! Please don't think I'm strange or anything." she pleaded. It was weird, for her to be opening up so easily, but Karmi allowed her to feel safe, secure. This secret of hers was, big, really. Heck, she hadn't even told Yuna!
"You see..." she began, setting her cup down. "Everyday, since the day I became a Sai-" Oops! Karmi couldn't know about her being a Sailor Senshi, whom the media trashed. Slightly stuttering, she rushed to cover her error, "I mean, since the day I moved here, I've been having the same dream every night." She set her elbow on the table, cupping her chin in her palm, and looked Karmi directly in the pupils. "It's strange. You know how dreams are. I can't seem to decipher it though. It's always the same guy....I can't even describe you to him. But it's the feeling I get, that's strange. Nostalgia? Like, I've known him forever. The dream always portrays us as lovers, as cheesy as that sounds. I think I'm going crazy, but somehow, it feels like I'm going to meet him soon..." For a slight second or two, silence fell, as Ji-Yeon recalled sweet reveries. Then, blushing once again, she spoke, "S-s-orry. I know it's weird for me to be telling you this."

At the mention of beauty Karmi's cheeks flushed wildly. Compliments of this type were an enigma to her. Complex feelings rushed through her as she thought it over. "Well, I'm sure we... he..." Her train of thought derailed quickly. With her speech flopping around like a fish out of water, she reached for the tea while blowing the bit of steam off the top. Cautiously she raised the cup to her lips and took in a sip of the warm liquid. Instant happiness brewed within her.
After taking a sip she held the cup close to her, happily holding onto its warmth on such a cold day. Glancing back at Ji-Yeon she smiled slightly as she finished her story. Wonder what she was going to say? She thought, keeping the question locked in her mind. "It's alright, I think it's sweet!" She said, then took another scorching sip. The warmness was quickly driving back her shyness. "Maybe you'll get some good karma and find who you're looking for." Friendliness appeared all over her face. "And who knows? Maybe he's right next door or even at our school!" She giggled. Finally! Girls always do need a gossip partner in crime.
