Oh, Awiti was mad. Mad as in angered, not the insane. Though arguably, she was both. Regardless, she was not happy. Here was this female. Acting all HIGH AND MIGHTY prancin' along into her lands, and thinking she was all that. The black-rimmed lavender eyes scowled deeply, and a growl arose from the adolescent's chest. This lioness, pale and white and pretty, was endlessly frustrating.
'Why?' one might ask. Well, the white spirit had appeared a few days in the area in which the black and white wanderer resided. And in that span, she hadn't died yet! Died metaphorically. Not literally. You see, Awiti was a seer. And she saw death. Be it her father falling from a cliff, her sister stepping too close to the water's edge and getting snapped up by a croc. Of course, few of her visions had ever come true, thankfully... She supposed. It was always something happened to make her wrong. Maybe Gouta delayed her father a few minutes and he passed rather than... passed on. Yet the gift was helpful in the hunt. She could see prey fall before they were felled. She was so used to them by her adolescence, for them to be absent it was absurd! And so, when this white woman had escaped her 'sight' she'd taken to following her... There just was something strange about her.

And there was something strange about Coeur. It could be said that she was also a little bit off. She didn't have the same sight as Awiti to drive her off her rocker... But there was definitely similar. Something, that is, beyond the colors they shared. Both black, both white, both red. Awiti's from a line of Firekin royalty, Coeur's was fooled many upon first sight. She'd gotten plenty a strange glance when she first met another. 'Oh my goodness! You're bleeding! Let me help you!' PLEASE. Coeur didn't need anyone's help. She looked as though from her very soul she bled, and she'd been told that before, but it just so happened that she was born that way. The rest of her coat, a snowy white gave her an innocent look that belied the twisted thing within.

Awiti slunk closer again, as she had for days before turning around and fleeing. But this was the end. Her hunger had grown, as she'd mostly given up on hunting while she stalked a different sort of prey, and her hunger for a conclusion to this lioness. Today her prey was resting in a niche of rocks, just beginning to wake as the sun's rays tried to penetrate the thick fog coming off of the winding stream. Awiti had hardly slept at all that night, her mind racing and her stomach gnawing. Her residence had been in a pit by the river, it's bottom cold and muddy. And so she'd washed herself in the stream, normally fine with a dirty appearance, she couldn't stand to be outdone by her elder with her pristine and prefect pelt. She was cold, now, not yet warmed by the African heat, and she bit her tongue to keep her teeth from chattering, and to keep a growl within.

As it so happened, Coeur wasn't entirely oblivious to her little stalker. No, just last night she'd had the first good look at the girl, and though it was strange and puzzling, she didn't quite care. So she had a fan. All the better for her image. She woke up comfortably from her night's rest, taking a while to take in her surroundings, and smiling to herself when she thought of the strange lioness that had taken to the mud as a bed. Heck, for the past day or two, that was her plan for whatever her follower was. Travel comfortably by day, but leave only the most rugged terrain for the other, and at night, lie down all cozy-like and watch her enemy settle into a long night of discomfort. Oh, but if she was asked by the lone lion or leopard or what have you what she was doing in the area, she would have pulled an excuse quite quickly. 'Oh, just passing through.' or 'I'm looking for my family, you see, my parents abandoned me when I was born because they were too gaunt and haggard to take care of a little cub, and now I'm looking for them to tell them I forgive them for what they've done, and to show them that their little girl grew up happy and healthy.' Whatever. She'd skirted all pride lands. The lioness had no interest in being indoctrinated to worship some false god or to take the rank of a sub-member and truckle to every male's wants and needs of the flesh.

Awiti was used to the tough goings, plus she didn't care much for her own safety. SAFETY WAS FOR WEAKLINGS. Her black forelock covered her eyes and they narrowed as she stared down into the lioness' den. Still no death. She was sick of it. Sick, sick sickofit. A heavy sigh, not caring of her secrecy any longer and she yelled, teeth bared and sharp. "DIE ALREADY, b***h." She glowered into the hole as the white form seemed to think her amusing. She wasn't funny! Awiti took the path down into the little hole and squared off in front of her personal demoness, snarling and ready to fight. If she couldn't see this woman's death with her visions, she'd cause it.

WELL, now Coeur wasn't expecting this forward of an approach, but it didn't really bother her. The adolescents' languages was mildly offensive, however. She pursed her lips in response. "Watch your tongue, young lady." The display of power didn't frighten her in the least bit. She could handle this little hooligan, no problem. Or so she thought. Coeur wasn't really much of one for fighting, her pelt bore no conflict related scars. Males were the easiest to appease and talk out of battle. With girls it was more difficult, but she usually just played dumb and walked away and that was the end of that.
But for now, the adult heaved herself to her feet, shaking the dust from her fur and licking her paw to rub against her face. A smile spilt her maw and her eyes were indistinguishable between open and closed, and daintily, she blinked. "Now what was that, you were saying, dear?" She tilted her head and cooed.

Awiti slunk closer, shoulders rocking and ribs protruding. "Well, ma'am, I politely requested you kick the bucket, now could you do that for me? Pretty please?" The adolescent mocked Coeur, eyes still glaring and teeth still bared. Still before her eyes was only the normal plain as day sight, all pretty colors and three dimensions. She didn't see the lioness crumpling under the swipe of one of her paws. But that didn't mean anything! It's not like she was the one that was going to die.

Coeur tutted, "Oh, I'm sorry, but dying wasn't quite in any of my plans for today. Or tomorrow, or next week, or frankly, at all. I've got no interest in it. I don't believe in some great beyond with all the gods and goddesses of lore and my mommy and daddy up in those stars watching out for me. I'm much happier down here, thank you." She smiled and took a step forward, testing the waters between herself and the lioness.
"But if you've got such an interest why don't you try it out yourself? Hmm?" Coeur tilted her head and continued approaching Awiti, her movements fluid but every muscle tensing under her pristine coat for a fight that would no doubt take place.

Awiti snarled and swiped at Coeur's approach. "Fat chance, woman." She glowered and caught one of the lioness's legs glancing it with her claws. She grinned wickedly as the female winced and leapt back, and she had a full-blown smile on her face as Coeur assumed a fighting stance.
And at that moment, it happened. For a second Awiti's eyes glazed over as she watched the whole happening of Coeur's death in a second. Her opponent had no idea what happened or any chance to take advantage of her lapse of attention. Slowly, Awiti straightened and began to laugh.
"It seems I don't need to bother myself with you after all. But I'll be seeing you later." She turned and began to slink away, her mind now turned to the hunt and to fill her belly as it hadn't been in days. She worried not about being followed, and her hips swayed, leaving Coeur dumbfounded and alone.
