The wind was strong that early morning, and Nadali was surprised at how much salt she could taste in the air. It was just past nine, and she had quickly ate so she could train as early as possible. It was still silent across the area, and since no one really journeyed this far on the island unless they were a Rocket, she knew she was pretty much alone.

"Go Dima!" She cried out and threw her pokeball, watching with a flash as her cloned squirtle appeared from the red light. The creature looked around a moment before turning to her trainer, and Nadali let out a soft smile, "Hey there Dima, I think it's time for us to do more training...would you like to go against Senka or Hallil?"

She placed both pokeballs in the sand and waited for her turtle to pick. Dima seemed to take a moment to decide, because it was a hard decision. On one hand was Senka, the electric pokemon that could do a lot of damage to any water pokemon. On the other hand was Hallil, who was simply ruthless and loved to play dirty. After a long moment, Dima finally walked toward Senka's ball, and Nadali smiled.

Somehow, the trainer had a feeling that Dima wanted to try her hardest, and would do anything to improve, including facing her toughest competition.

"Alright Senny, time to train!" With that, Nadali threw her second ball.

The excursion from the previous night had not left him nearly tired enough to rest. He had spent so long in that cell of his that all he'd had time to do was sleep and plot. It wouldn't do to waste time with petty things like sleep right now. Once the feeling of tiredness actually took over him, then he'd rest. He'd come out this far after dropping Panther off at HQ simply to get some air, but now it looked like he'd get more than that. His icy eyes locked onto the trainer who was going to have her own Pokemon battle each other. He watched her for a moment though, not really interested in her Pokemon. He was sure he recognized her, he was just trying to remember from where. Then it dawned on him, she was on their first training mission, she was the one with the oddly colored Pichu if he recalled correctly.

He began to make his way towards where the battle would be, stopping not too terribly far off and leaning his back against a tree. Azra was out of his ball and had leapt his way up onto a branch and was lounging lazily. He was a wonderful pokemon, willing to push himself as long as his trainer continued to strive forward. It didn't matter if he was a little tired from the night before, it was a new day. Claris watched in silence as he anticipated the battle that was about to unfold. His money was of course on the Squirtle though, he believed anyone could overcome their type disadvantages through superior training and strategy.

Nadali didn't even realize what was going on around her, or that someone had come to watch her battle. Instead, she looked around the area before stepping back to her own spot. It would be hard to direct the two pokemon at the same time, since she would foresee what was happening, so instead she decided to work on their weakness as a motivation.

"Alright you two...whoever wins this battle will get to have a nice dinner and start the next battle I have!" She giggled at the thought, before looking at both of them as they stared back.

Senka looked less than pleased, while Dima took on a determined expression.

"Do whatever you can to get the other pokemon to faint...I won't be leading you guys, because I want to see what you can do on your own...the best way to learn is through doing it yourself, so make me proud!" She raised her hand before shouting out, "Alright go!"

And with that, she backed up and watched with a bit of an unsure expression herself. She didn't know what would happen because usually pokemon battled with the help of their trainer, but she was hopeful and wanted it to work well. That way it could be used for future training between her pokemon. They could both learn their own strengths and techniques, as well as learn how to work together if needed.

Suddenly, Senka jumped in action, and started to use a quick attack. If she could get a hit on Dima, her static could come into play and end the battle quickly. As the black pikachu raced toward the clone, Dima's eyes seemed to sparkle before she reeled back and let out a flurry of bubbles right where Senka was running.

Senka's force slammed through the bubbles, but it slowed the pikachu down long enough for Dima to jump away and closer to the water.

Once Senka realized what happened, she sent a glare to her current opponent, irritated that her attack didn't work. Clearly, it had been a stalemate, and both just sat a second breathing hard. Than, Senka jumped up into the air and let out a cry, she let out a thundershock that directly hit the Squirtle.

Dima let out a cry as she fell back into the water, disappearing under the slushy waves and away from both Nadali's and Senka's view. Nadali took a moment to collect herself, realizing that the water pokemon probably wasn't down for the count.

Senka seemed to realize it too, for every wave that came in, she sent a sharp shock toward the surface. It was interesting to see the stalemate, and Nadali was interested to see what would happen next.

And once again, Dima didn't disappoint. Suddenly, when a huge wave seemed to roll in, she jumped up and let out a water gun that moved with the wave and sent a sharp blast right at Senka. Being distracted, the thunder pokemon let out a gasp before she was shot about twenty feet away from where they stood. Dima jumped onto the sand with a grin on her face.

He clapped his hands in applause for the Squirtle, while he did not like the Pokemon species, he did approve of any pokemon doing well when facing an extreme obstacle for them. He was fairly certain that the little rodent pokemon was this rockets strongest. He stepped forward a bit and crossed his arms over his chest. At his trainers movement, Azra raised his head and watched quietly, keeping a watchful eye on the trainer and her pokemon.

"Bravo, while I can tell the fight is not over, I am most impressed. Please, don't let me distract too much."

He fell silent again, returning his attention to the Pokemon.

Ugh, it was way too early. Niki was not a morning person, but this was her first day with a trainable pokemon and she wanted to get a good start on training Pyro. The little Charmander had started to get used to the idea of having a new trainer, but she was curious how he'd act in combat. The grunt debated a trip to the forest, but didn't feel up to the longer journey and decided to comb the beach nearby and see what it would reveal.

The trainer headed out, squinting in the early light before her eyes adjusted. After a short distance, sounds traveled her way: voices. Nikiana jogged over to see who else was out and about this early, coming upon two trainers watching two pokemon battle. Having arrived in the middle of the battle, her logical guess was that the two trainers were battling with the two pokemon and she kept her distance to watch. A Squirtle and a Pikachu. The electric pokemon definitely had the advantage and the girl glanced between the two trainers for a moment, trying to guess which pokemon belonged to each. Neither were shouting commands or encouragement (as she'd arrived after Claris' cheer), which confused the teen a bit. Trainers always gave orders to their pokemon, to help the creatures figure out which moves to use and when, right? Or was this some odd exercise? Either way, it would be an interesting battle, as the Squirtle seemed to be holding its own, despite the type disadvantage.

User ImageHayes left a trail of footprints in his wake as he strolled down the shore in the grey, misty morning fog. The Rocket was dressed in a pair of jeans rolled up around his calves and a ratty old sweatshirt with 'POKE U' emblazoned across the front in block letters. He carried a pair of sandals slung over his shoulder; his toes left imprints in the damp sand as he watched the sunrise form a corona around Camphoreon City's faraway towers.

Unless he was investigating a piece of seaweed, pausing to scratch his ear, or just bounding off for the heck of it, Switch padded alongside Hayes, leaving a looping, roundabout trail of prints beside the human's fairly straight one. The Pikachu spotted the commotion first, feeling the change in the air from Senka's electric attacks, and scrambled up Hayes' back to perch on his shoulder, nose and ears pointed forward like a hunting dog.

"P'ka," he commented.

So much for solitude.

User ImageGreat. It would figure that the day she chose to visit the beach, everyone else would be there as well. Pfft.

An irritable look was present on the blonde's face as she looked on from a boardwalk, noting the familiar faces.

This Nikki, the one with two ks, sighed and rolled her eyes to herself. Well whatever, she would just have to move a little further down the beach to avoid the others and their rowdy Pokemon.

Considering this was off time, she wasn't wearing a uniform of any sort. Instead she was dressed in black jeans and a top that was covered by a black windbreaker. She likes black, get over it. It was too windy and cool in the early morning to wear anything else.

Nikki's long strands of blonde hair were easily tossed in the wind, sure to be a mess to untangle later. Despite the cool air, she strode across the sand in sandals, making her way in a direction opposite of the others.

That is until she spotted... HIM. Nikki stopped and scowled when she noticed Hayes coming from the direction she was going. What. Could she not even the unwanted baggage known as her partner?!

Hayes paused and squinted at the figures, most still too distant to be identified with any certainty except whats-his-name, the guy who just got out of solitary. Clarence? Clarice? The blond reached up and gave Switch an absent scritch behind one ear. "Huh. Wanna go check it out?"

In answer, the Pikachu leapt off his shoulder and bounded ahead a few meters, pausing to give Hayes a look, move away a little more, then look again - clear 'hey, hurry up' behavior. When the Rocket shrugged and started to follow after, Switch increased his pace, trotting across the sand until Nikki's shadow darkened his path.

The Pikachu looked up at her and twitched his nose.

Hayes was keeping an eye on Switch more than the battle, and when he spotted Nikki, a pleasant smile brightened his features and he raised his free hand in greeting. "Oh, hey."

Brown eyes stared down at the Pikachu with contempt for a few moments, before finally lifting to look at Hayes as he approached. Naturally he would greet her in that overly friendly way of his. Inwardly she twitched.

His greeting was not returned. Instead she just frowned at him severely.

"I think you must enjoy stalking me."

Oh, this again. Unless the yelling girl - as Switch privately termed Nikki - was going to throw something, it would just be more talking. And there wasn't anything around here to throw.

Hayes brows lifted an inch. "Really?" he asked in mild surprise, curling his toes in the sand. "I just like walks." As he drew close, he slowed his pace but didn't stop, and glanced toward the battle again.

Switch eyed the two for a moment, then scampered off towards the action. Cresting a small sand dune, the Pikachu came nose to heel with another set of boots - Nikiana's, this time. He backed up a few steps, then circled around to her side.

High overhead a circling Pidgeot called - Darwin spreading his wings.

Like most of the others, Niki had abandoned her Rocket uniform for this trip. The chilly morning air had led to a grey jacket pulled on over one of her blue t-shirts. Jeans and boots completed the outfit, having forgone sandals due to the cold. She didn't like her feet to get cold.

Niki's attention was mostly on the ongoing battle, though when another Pikachu showed up to sniff at her feet, it caught her attention. This one had to be tame, as she hadn't seen a wild pokemon come this close to a person before. "Well, hello there." She glanced around to see where his owner was and realized that while she'd been watching the fight a few more people had shown up on the beach. The two were talking, but her money was on this Pikachu belonging to one of the two of them.

She knelt, extending a hand for Switch to sniff. She had hopes of getting a Pikachu of her own eventually. They were cute and a good electric pokemon.

In that case, Switch was wrong. There were plenty of things Nikki could throw if she wanted to. The first being sand.

"Right." Nikki replied flatly, clearly not convinced. "And what the hell is with the ignorant, nice guy act? Its getting old, really fast."

The blonde folded her arms across her chest and furrowed her brows. However, the Pidgeot above caught her attention for a moment, but only a moment.

Nadali nearly cried out when a voice interrupted the show, and she spun around with a wary gaze to catch sight of a familiar rocket. Letting out a breath she had been holding, she had the decency to blush before taking on a relaxed expression.

"Thank you, I guess, but it is really Dima and Senka who deserve the encouragement. This is a new experiment I am trying, just to see. I know a lot of pokemon need direction, but I think this is the best way to discover just who they are on their own, and possibly help them learn as well."

Nodding, she seemed to think for one more second, before adding with a grin, "Plus, I think it would intimidate anyone if I didn't talk...maybe even cause them to think I was some sort of psychic!" She laughed at that, though it quickly stopped as she realized just how many people were coming up.

Glancing back toward her pokemon, she noticed that Senka had seemed to gain the upper hand by shooting off an irritated thunderwave, and was watching as Dima tried to move and get out of the way. Yet, Senka showed a sign of pleasure from the actions because she didn't attack right away. Either it was that, or the pikachu wanted to keep the fight fair and help train the other pokemon. Nadali would never know.

"Pika," Switch replied, sitting back on his haunches. He'd object to the word tame; fearless was more like it. The Pikachu cocked his head to the side to get a better look at Niki; oddly enough, he had bright green eyes.

"Well, I'm sorry you feel that way," Hayes replied mildly, with a shrug and a half-smile implying there really wasn't anything he could do about it. "but there's no point in an act. So." He glanced up when Nikki did and made an amused little 'huh' at the Pidgeot's silhouette. "I'm gonna see what's going on." It sounded like an unspoken invitation; the blond jerked his thumb in the direction of Nadali's battle and started to head off that way, following Switch's trail.

When he caught up with his Pokemon, Switch was sniffing at Niki's fingertips. "Hey you," he greeted him, with a nod and a friendly smile for Nikiana. The Pikachu looked at his trainer for a moment, then flicked an ear and licked at the girl's fingers, lapping up some of the salt spray. "Chuu."
