Timmorn watched Aife and Bloodhunt wander back to the holt. He leaned back in his tree, satisfied. Sometimes, some cubs needed a little... nudge. Those two... they would have special cubs of their own. He was sure.
*You could go join them,* an ancient voice sent, of course, ancient was relative.
*They are not ready for me, not yet. They have trials to overcome first. They have a chief.*
*They are not ready, or you are not ready?* The wizened one asked.
*Point, Mother,* he sent. The woman was not actually his mother, but it was her title.
*You have your own trials to overcome as well.*
*Eh?* he asked, knowing by now that she had something specific in mind.
*Would you help all cubs in need, or just those of your blood?*
*All,* he replied, already moving through the branches to a higher vantage point. *And you know that. But if they can overcome on their own...*
*The magic of this land has stranded four cubs far from their sleeping parents. They need a parental figure, or some one to help them find their proper mother.* And with the message came an image to his mind of a clearing. He knew it well.
*By the palace,* he muttered mentally at her. *Consider me there,* and he swing through the trees like a half wolf Tarzan. He spied the children from above then slipped down silently, standing behind them.

By that point, Dyre was already struggling to climb up a tree.
"Careful," Verdi whimpered, nervously.
"You're so good!" Kusuma giggled.

Kiaden smiled. "You can do it! I'm next!"
Timorn Yellow Eyes chuckled at them. *Hello, cubs,* he sent.

"GYAH!" Dyre yelped, falling backward.
"Dyre!" Verdi squealed, rushing to her brother in concern.
Kasuma was the only one to look back at the sound of walking. She blinked then, "FURRY!"

Kiadan turned and stared at him. "big Furry!" she agreed.
He chuckled again lightly. *I am Timmorn,* he sent, not yet realizing that they could not hear him.

"Whoa," Dyre murmured, staring at Timmorn, still laying on his back so the furry creature was upside down to him.
Verdi huddled beside her brother, not quite liking the way the scary being looked.
"I'm Kusuma!" the little ball of energy announced, bouncing slightly. "Who're you?"

He blinked rapidly then sighed and sank down until he was on his knees, so he was almost at their eye level. "You... could not hear me speak....before...then?" he asked, his voice tough from disuse, with a vicious sound growl to it.

Verdi squeaked and scampered to the other side of the tree. "Scary."
"Ooooh! You sound funny!" xd
Dyre scrambled to his feet and pranced over to study the strange pony.

Kiadan went to sit by Verdi. "It's okies. Dyre and I wont let big scary furry hurt you."
He tried to give them a smile. It showed a row of very sharp un-ponylike teeth. "I would not harm...cubs..." he growled. Owel pellets, talking was hard!

Verdi hid her face in Kiadan's neck.
"What's a cub?"
"Whoa, your teeth are shaaaaaaaaaarp."

"Cubs.... young ones, like you," he growled. He didn't mean to growl or be scary, really, he didn't.
Kiadan held her sister, eyes locked on the stranger, fascinated.

Dyre got behind the scary creature and pounced.
Verdi.... stayed hidden.

"Yes, you are cubs." He chuckled as Dyre pounced him and turned to face him. "Very good cub!" he praised.
