Shade had never lived in, or even really visited, an upper-class home - the only time he could ever say that he'd ever seen one had been during the ball at Banning's estate. For the past nine years, he and his mother had been living in the same small apartment, living off her small paycheck. Their lifestyle was far from extravagant, but they got by, and that was all that had ever mattered to them. It was far better than their previous situation, which had involved much abuse at the hands of Shade's father, and the boy could honestly say that he was happy for the most part.
However, that didn't mean that he wasn't awed by Dorian's home. Much like Banning's home, the place was huge! It reminded the teenager of something that one might find in one of his mother's old storybooks. However, this was very much real, and the impling doubted that he was going to see any princes riding past on white horses. The boy shook his head to rid himself of the shock and hurried up to the door, giving it a knock. He'd come to meet Dorian for a date of sorts on this fine Saturday afternoon - it had earlier been suggested that they spend some time alone so as to get to know one another, though it had taken a bit of time to arrange something. Between Dorian's work, Shade's schooling, and hiding everything from the boy's mother, finding time for such an occasion had proven difficult. However, they'd done it, and here he was. Now they just had to hope that nothing would go amiss!

Dorian yawned, streching pleasantly like a happy cat and arching his back while drying his hair with a towel. He'd just gotten out of the shower, in preparation for his date with Shade. Granted, he wasn't planning on this being incredibly......eventful like he did anytime Verdant came round, but that wasn't an excuse to treat the date as if it was any less important. Which meant Dorian had to go to the same lengths to make himself look stunning for Shade like he would for Verdant.
Throwing the towel in the hamper and missing, only for Marius to quietly come up from behind and pick it up, putting it in properly, he hummed to himself and appraised his outfit. Really it was a bit understated. Just a feaux turtleneck, where the top came up to his chin, yes, but the sleeves were iiiiiiiiiiitty bitty little things that barely covered his shoulders. That and a pair of tight jeans with a white leather belt on them to match his ivory hoop earings made Dorian look classy yet sporty at the same time. Hastily tying his hair up in a ponytail, he heard a knock on the door and smiled at the timidness of the sound. Everything Shade did reflected his reactions to things, the doctor mused. Even knocking on a silly door to a man's apartment, no matter how expensive. It was still just an apartment, just a space to live in, even if the rent was murderously high.
His hair was still a bit dishelved and curly from drying, clinging to his face handsomely as he swung open the door with a bright smile. Ruffling Shade's hair playfully, and leaning to kiss his cheek hastily.
"Well hello there, stranger. I just got done getting ready, how lucky is that? Marius will take care of the house while we're out, it's a bit messy, I'm afraid...." he laughed nervously, not sure he was comfortable with Shade seeing his completely mauled to death bed, couch, carpet, and oddly enough kitchen table from Verdant's earlier visit a few days ago. He hadn't been at home to pick it up, and Marius had been coming to work with him to study their craft more, now that he had legs and looked passable in public. The Alter had been appaled at his master and Verdant, and had chewed the doctor out about cleaning up his own messes when they were that big from now on.
Fiddling with something in his pocket, he decided to leave it for later, and instead locked the door to the apartment behind him, turning with a smile.
"What would you like to do today, ma petite chaton? I thought about a movie maybe, but I want to do something YOU like to do first," he purred, leading Shade to the elevator and pressing the button for the first floor, intentionally grabbing Shade and holding him in the corner with him, leaning his chin on the top of the smaller boy's head with a grin.

Shade's ears flicked as he heard footsteps coming towards the door and the boy looked up as the door swung open. He blinked as he felt the hand messing with his hair, though there was little that could be done to make it anymore unruly than it already was. The teenager's hair seemed to literally have a mind of its own and nothing that Shade did to it ever seemed to make much of a difference. A light blush made its way across the boy's cheeks as Dorian kissed the spot and he gave the older man a shy smile - he wasn't as timid around Dorian as he'd been during his first encounter, but the boy was still a bashful little thing. "Yeah, that is pretty lucky." The fact that he wasn't stuttering this time was definitely an improvement.
The boy walked with Dorian to the elevator and soon found himself in the corner with the older man, blushing quite profusely as he was held. His tail flicked as he heard Dorian's proposition, though he wasn't sure of what to suggest. Shade was a techie and a bit of a nerd at heart, and he wasn't sure if Dorian would enjoy doing something like playing video games. The movie sounded fine to him - he rarely got to participate in such activities, since money was tight with him and his mother. Dorian did say that he wanted to do something that Shade wanted to do though, so...making the suggestion wouldn't hurt, right? And Dorian might /LIKE/ that sort of thing, for all that Shade knew!
"Well...have you...ever gone to an arcade before...?" he asked shyly, hoping that the suggestion wouldn't disappoint the much older man.

Humming to himself while waiting for Shade's answer, he perked up as the little imp made a suggestion, and not a bad one at that. Dorian was a DDR FIEND. He could literally listen to Butterfly for hours and never get tired of the song. He was also kind of fond of Kick the Can! for whatever odd reason. Kissing the top of Shade's head affectionately, he smiled down at the little imp.
"Of COURSE! How fun would that be? I love dancing games, and if I do say so myself, I have shot down quite a few zombies in my time. See? Even if I'm old as dirt, I'm not totally boring," he laughed, leaning over Shade's shoulder and looking into his face with a grin. Soon after their mini conversation was finished, the elevator dinged that they were on the first floor again, and the doors opened. Dorian relinquished his hold on the young imp, but held his hand instead, waving to the people at the desk as the front man greeted him and pulled the door open for him and his young charge. With a nod of his cap, he smiled.
"You and your cousin have a nice day out, Mr.Cromwell," he greeted, to which Dorian waved with a fake smile that could charm millions. Hurriedly, he led Shade to the parking garage and got out his keys, pressing the unlock button as they approached a sleek black convertible with the hood down. It was a beautiful car, that was to be sure. Rushing over to get there before Shade, he opened the door for his younger companion and rounded the front to get in on his own side with a flop and a small sigh. Looking over to his youngest lover, he frowned, brushing some hair from his face.
"I'm sorry Shade....I had to tell my building I'd be expecting to entertain a younger cousin....nobody really minded the fact that you're an imp because well, they kind of expect my family tree to be a little bit different, you see. I was only trying to protect all of us...." he explained gently, making sure his voice was both comforting and informative. There were still the dangers of dating someone underage present for both him and Verdant, and the backlash a relationship like that could have on Shade's family life would be catastrophic.

Shade smiled, relieved that Dorian seemed to be enthusiastic about the idea. He never would've pictured the doctor as someone who would enjoy partaking in video games, but that only proved that one couldn't judge a book by its cover. "You're not old..." He knew that Dorian was younger than his mother, even if it was only by about a year, give or take. He also knew better than to call her of all people old - Luna Flereous was not known for enjoying jokes that regarded her age.
The boy looked towards the elevator door as it opened and felt Dorian letting go of him. However, he also felt his hand being held by the older man's a few seconds later as he was led out into the lobby. Shade glanced to the front man, confused for a moment before he realized that Dorian had probably made it up - the impling knew very well that his relationship with Verdant and Dorian had to be kept a secret. He quickly climbed in as Dorian opened the door for him and did up his seatbelt, admiring the convertible as he did. He and his mother didn't even /OWN/ a car, so riding in such a nice vehicle was definitely a new experience for him.
Shade was snapped out of his thoughts though as he felt a hand brushing at his hair and he turned his head to look over at the human that was sitting next to him. The teenager listened to Dorian's explanation quietly and nodded near the end of it, his tail flicking slightly. "I know...it's alright. I understand." He had been, however, wishing more than ever now that he could've been maybe a few years older. Then none of them would have to sneak around like this, and Verdant and Dorian wouldn't have to risk their necks just to go out on a simple date with him. There wasn't anything that could be done about it though, so they'd just have to deal with it.
Besides, it wasn't like him being Dorian's cousin was all that unbelievable - implings bred true, as his mother had told him once, though the boy didn't quite know what that meant.
