Mischa danced through through D'ob's meadows with a spring in her step, which was somewhat strange considering the mood of the other Nequus she passed, they were surly and depressed, a mood more fitting to the grey skies and drizzling rain that affected this part of the valley at the moment. Mischa however wasn't one to let a bit of foul weather ruin her day and so she irritated those she passed by singing out in a cheery voice happy greetings and pleasant looks as she danced through the rain. It was silly to her way of thinking let something as uncontrollable as the weather dictate your mood and franky she wasn't going to take any part of such sillyness.

The rain never bothered Swiftwind, in fact some days he was greatful for it. There was nothing better than a cool shower of rain on a hot summer day. Although today was not a hot summer day but he welcomed the rain none the less. Soon the rain would no longer fall as it would be replaced by snow. He walked into a meadow and shook some of the water from his mane. It was starting to get heavy from all the rain but that was such a minor annoyance that he could ignore it for the most part. Then he spotted an Ischa mare dancing in the rain and chuckled. Well at least he wasn't the only one who didn't mind the rain. Although seeing the mare reminded him of Starlite somehow. They had parted ways for a few days so that she could check in on some friends in the area so he had taken to wandering a bit while he waited for her to return. He trotted over to the mare as she frolicked in the meadow. "Lovely weather we are having today." He called out to her, the rain pinging off his faceplate.

Mischa was somewhat unprepared for the approach of a friendly face - she'd assumed the stallion had been coming over to lecture her about the evils of playing in wet cool weather and how she'd surely catch a cold if she kept at such foal like behavior. But when he called out to her it wasn't yelling at all..but a friendly comment and Mischa spun herself about to face him with a graceful pivot of her hind legs.
"Isn't it though?!" she questioned him with a smile in her eyes and a cheery almost birdlike tone, it wasn't till after she'd spoken that she got a good look at the stallion and her ears licked forward "why sir!" She exclaimed in a startled voice "You appear to have some strange contraption on your face!"

Swiftwind couldn't help but chuckle. "It is no contraption. This faceplate is a mark of honor amongst those in my family." He told the mare. He could see the scornful eyes of some other Nequus who currently hid from the rain under the trees that lined the meadow. Why did they look so oddly at the two of them? It's not like being in the rain would be damaging to ones body.
"I am Swiftwind." He continued as his gaze returned to her. "And who might you be?"

Mischa eyed the faceplate for a few moments though it wasn't with a critical look..more a curious one that she did so, it was rather pretty she thought - and she liked the colors they seemed quite cheery to Mischa and she could only imagine that being a mark of honor meant that the stallion had done something good to get it, and if he went about doing good deeds then certainly he must be a nice Nequus. "My mother used to tell me stories of Nequus who did good deeds to earn the favor of their families..I think they were called Knights, are you a Knight?" She asked him with a slight tip of her head.
If Mischa noticed the sour looks of the Nequus under the trees she didn't let on to it, spoilsports that they were didn't know what they were missing by wasting a day hiding out as far as she was concerned.

"Well no I'm not a Knight, but I suppose that would be a good way of explaining it." He told her. Yes he supposed a Knight would be an equivalent to his rank within his family. It had been some time since he had spoke of such things and it made he wonder what his family was up to these days.
"So what brings you out on such a lovely day?" He asked. Most Nequus seemed to hide from the rain but clearly this mare didn't mind it at all. Of course she may have somewhere to she needed to be and couldn't let a little rain stop her.

How very interesting Mischa though to herself as the stallion answered her inquiry - though it was a pity he wasn't a Knight - Mischa would have liked to meet a Knight someday. Of course she supposed he might be considered a Knight of sorts, though she was curious what his family might call it, maybe they didn't call it anything at all she told herself...maybe they just gave out the tokens like the faceplate he wore as signs of the rank.
"Oh nothing really" she told the stallion "I just didn't feel like hiding in the trees with the others, why ruin a good day over something like weather - you can't really control it so why let it control you?" She asked him before recalling rather belatedly that she hadn't answered one of his previous questions "I'm Mischa" she introduced herself.

"Indeed why hide from something you cannot control. It is not like it will do any harm to us. Sure our hides may be a bit wet for a while but will that put us in mortal danger? I think not." The idea of hiding from rain was quite silly. Perhaps the more violent storms one should seek shelter, but this was nothing more than a light shower. "It is a pleasure to meet you Mischa."
He glanced around the meadow for a moment, shaking his head at those who choose to wait out the rain under a tree. "So Mischa do you live around here or merely passing through?"

"my thoughts precisely" Mischa chimed in with a chirp in her voice and a stamp of her fore hoof to further punctuate just how much she agreed "Some of the elders seem to think I shall catch a chill and become violently ill or some other such nonsense" Mischa explained further with a slight roll of her eyes. Elders...they were always fussing about something or another.
Thinking for a few moments about his question Mischa finally came up with an answer "I"m traveling with a couple of friends" She answered "Two of them really, though I don't think we have any particular destination in mind - Helios mentioned his family once...and Sunil well..he's a bit off that Sunil" She continued to babble somewhat and finished with a slight chuckle.

Swiftwind chuckled. "Catch a chill from the rain huh? Well now that's just not right. How could one possibly catch a chill from standing in the rain." He found it odd that Elders would think such preposterous things. Elders were supposed to be the most knowledgeable of all Nequus and yet they believed such crazy things about the rain.
He listened as she spoke of the two she traveled with. Having not previously heard of those two Nequus he couldn't quite understand how Sunil could be a bit off. "I am traveling with a friend as well. Although she is currently off visiting some old friends in the area, so I decided to wander around while waiting for her." Speaking of Starlite made him realize how much he missed her, but they would be meeting up again in the next day or two. He couldn't wait to see her again and continue their travels.

"catching a chill from the rain s just one of many silly things some of them come up with...if you stand around long enough they will revel you with stories about how in their day the grass wasn't nearly as green, nor the water nearly as clear, or how eating too many berries will turn your eyes red, apparently" She added with a chuckle "We have it quite easy now a days"
Mischa thought most of these elders were simply trying to pull her leg - have a bit of fun at the youngins expense or something like that, and she didn't mind really - no matter that she fussed about it later if it brightened their day to try and scare her then why not let them...it wasn't like she believed any of their stories...well most of them anyways.

He snorted a laugh. Well the Elders in these parts seemed quite different than the ones he had grown up with. "Might be the side effects of old age. Why else would they say such strange things."
He glanced up at the sky. The rain was starting to lighten up indicating the clouds were beginning to feel empty. "Looks like those who are hiding will be able to come out soon." He said as he looked back at Mischa. "Unless of course it's a bad thing to step in the puddles that the rain leaves. Don't suppose the Elders said anything about that did they?" He chuckled.

Mischa followed the stallion gaze, glancing up into the sky herself - the clouds did seem a bit paler, where they had been a stormy grey earlier they were now a pale silvery color which was rather pretty to Mischa's way of thinking and she watched the moving clouds for a few moments longer before returning her gaze to Swiftwind. "Not unless you step in a muck hole..then you'll get your leg stuck and starve to death" She told him solemnly, managing to keep a straight face for only a few moments before breaking out into a fit of laughter.
Sobering up so that her laughter was just the old chuckle Mischa tipped her head slightly at some of the older nequus who were starting to poke their heads out of the trees "I think they just say things like that to try and get a laugh by scaring the younglings" She confessed.

"Oh well that would be just terrible. We best avoid the muck holes then." He said and joined in with a bit of laughter. Slowly the rain lessened some more. It now longer made a loud ping sound each time it hit his faceplate. Now this sound was softer.
"Perhaps they do. I could see them getting a good laugh after seeing the reaction of a young foal to one of their stories." He too glanced at the other Nequus as they began to make their first attempts to come out of hiding, although most still hid in the trees. "Makes you wonder what stories they were told as foals to make them tell such strange stories now."

"Oh goodness!" Mischa responded "I don't even want to know" She said with a slight shake of her head, she couldn't even imagine what type of stories they had been told - she was pretty sure the further back you went the more strange said stories would become. "I think there are far better reasons to avoid the muck holes then fear of starvation" she confessed with a slight smile and she might have gone on to say something else if she hadn't been interrupted by a call from across the meadow.
"Mischa!" Ear pricked the little onyx and gold mare turned her head to glance in the direction the call had come from, although she couldn't see him she knew whose voice it was and turned back to Swiftwind. "Thats Sunil calling me, he and Helios must be ready to move one - I best be getting back to them" she told the white steed with his strange faceplate "but it was a pleasure to meet You!" She told him in a cheery voice "I shall be able to tell everyone I met a near-Knight now" she concluded before pivoting gracefully about and trotting off in the direction of the disembodied voice that was Sunil.
