Chez Om-nom-nom was one of those new fancy cafe type places. Today they had a promotion going that parents could bring their children in at any point in the day for free hot cocoa and cookies after a day shopping for Christmas gift in other stores. The parents, of course, had to pay for their own drinks and food if they wanted any.
The inside was warm, comfortable, and perhaps a little pretentious but for the most part it was rather nice and warm which was important.
Luis had brought Faris in after some afternoon shopping for gifts since the redhead had found herself suddenly having someone to shop for other than the handful of friends that she had made over the years that still hung out at the tavern even after her husband's death. Luis sat at a small round table next to her Gargoyle charge and watched as the small girl went after the cookies with exuberant gusto. The girl seemed to be a bottomless pit on some days.
"Is good mama!" Faris said cheerfully between mouthfuls.
The woman uttered a small laugh and nodded, "I'm glad," as she lifted her own cup of hot cocoa that she had to pay for. At least her daughter's drink and food was free. Not that she was hurting for money. Now that it was getting into the early evening hours Faris was much more energetic which was a good thing and a bad thing.

Buying clothes for children was an odd and strange task. Being the least maternal member of her family (besides her father), Kerrigan hadn't completely known what to do about getting the child she was now in custody of situated. Luckily, Marie'd been free to show them where to go, and Jezebel - a name chosen due to how much like a little heartbreaker her daughter looked like already - had pretty definite tastes for a toddler.
Now, the night was starting to fall upon them and it was time to stop and enjoy some warm cocoa and cookies - a treat to Jeze for being good, and to Kerri for dealing with this.

Faris gave her cocoa a good long drink as she sat with her mother and for some reason out of all the children in the establishment she noticed one in particular. Probably because the girl was dressed a certain way and thus made her different from the other children who wore much more casual garb than what she appeared to wear at this moment. Faris wiggled in her seat and stared up at her guardian questioningly, almost pleadingly.
Luis laughed a bit and nodded, "Aye go ahead," she replied as she sipped at her own cup of cocoa.
The Gargoyle gave a happy keen, crammed her last cookie into her mouth, a final sip of her cocoa before she wiggled out of her seat and approached the girl she spied. She paused near them glanced from the girl to the girl's guardian before she announced simply, "Hai~," and then asked while she pointed at the girl, "Can play now?"

Kerrigan blinked, a bit confused. She hadn't dealt with children in a very long time and the odd speech patterns still took her by surprise. "Excuse me?" she asked.
Jezebel, however smiled a bit. This person had taken notice of her and decided to approach, so it was only right to smile her best smile and try to talk with them. "Hello." she greeted softly, smiling at Faris. "What'll we play?"

Faris gazed up at the adult for a long moment. Were they hard of hearing or maybe she had said it too fast? Her tail twitched a bit as she said a little louder and slower while she pointed at the small girl with her, "Can play, yes? I play with her nows. I y'am Faris, kay?"
The gargoyle meant no disrespect with her actions. In fact she only wanted to make sure the lady understood that she was indeed going to play with the other child and she was showing that she was totally trustworthy by giving out her name. That was good, right?
She turned her head down toward the girl and tilted her head a bit. Unfortunately she hadn't thought that far ahead. Her tail twitched side to side sort of akin to a cat's tail for a moment before she announced, "We plays a game of pretend, yah? Like...Like you pretend to be a princess or some'hin and I pretend to be a knight and protect you from baddies."

Kerrigan sighed, facepalming internally. "Yeah sure, kiddo. Jez, I'ma get us some cocoa. Come over when you're ready." she told the girl, going to order her drink. This would just bother her too much to argue.
Jezebel smiled brightly, "Sure. I'm a good princess. But who're the baddies?"

Faris didn't seem to pay the adult much more mind for the most part especially since they were retreating now leaving her to deal with the little girl who now wondered who the baddies where. Faris gazed around the small cafe thoughtfully as a hand rubbed at her chin for a moment before she pointed at a table with a billowing cloth covering it, "That issa dragon. It wants to steal you away!"

Jezebel stared at it for a bit before shrugging. It was pretend right? And dragons did seem to like princesses. "Kaykay. Wonder whats it want me for. What do dragons do wiff princesses?" she asked idly, smiling at Faris and going to sit down regally on a chair.

Faris didn't really mind that the other girl seemed a little doubtful of their little farce. She just went along with it and even crouched nearby where the girl sat and stared at the intended target with distrust, "Theeeeey eats them. 'Cuz princesses are good for neu-tree-shun and faih-bur," the gargoyle informed in a matter-of-fact sort of way as she stared, any moment now it would make it's move and she'd have to save the girl from being eated!

"Oh. Then why don't they eats them when they first get them?" Jeze inquired, more out of character than in there. But she put on her terrified little princess face and looked in horror at the menacing "dragon".
"Maybe they likes them cooked."

"Mebbe," she replied as she reached up a gray hand to rub at her chin and then shrugged, "mebbe they jus' like ta eat in their own homes too," the gargoyle pointed out as if she knew everything there was to know about dragons. "If'n they wanted to eat out they'd go get burgers or something," she said sagely and nodded.
Yep, kidnapping princesses to eat was a lot like going grocery shopping to buy meals to cook at home.
Her tail twitched a bit as she stared at the table-dragon intently waiting for it to make its move. Suddenly a breeze rolled through the cafe as the door opened to let in new customers, "Oh noes! It is coming to eat you! Hide!" With that Faris pounced off toward the table to fight with the cloth.
This is going to end really well. Really.

Jeze took the indication to "hide" as her chance to go over and take a sip of her cocoa. It was rather fun to watch the other toddler battling the table cloth. And other here, she was safe from getting hurt. After all, if the princess stuck around and got hurt by the 'dragon' she was probably not a very good princess anyway.

Faris and the table cloth faced off and it was just a matter of time before the small gargoyle got wrapped up in the table cloth, tore it, and then knocked everything off of the table and almost had the table itself fall on top of her. If it wasn't for a vigilant staff member nearby the small girl could have gotten pretty hurt!
"Watch it!" the staff member called out as the gargoyle scrambled off with the table cloth still around her and giggling.
She had saved the princess and she was rewarded with the dragon skin! YAY!
Faris made her way over to the Princess with the 'Dragon Skin' wrapped around her in style of a messy toga.
"I saved you!" She announced proudly. The small girl was unaware that her guardian was watching her the entire time with some amusement on her face and shaking her head as she got out a bit of extra money to pay for the damaged table cloth as she stood and wandered to the counter to address the highly dismayed cafe who had come out to see what the ruckus was out.

Jezebel giggled a little and clapped. "Yes. You saved me. Good job." she said, taking a sip of her cocoa and kicking her legs a bit. "What'll we play now?"

She smoothed out her dragon skin garment thoughtfully before she shifted her shoulders into a bit of a shrug then she simply said, "Mmmm...You picks! I play what you play~. Then I think Mama wants to go home." She teetered from clawed foot to clawed foot and waited to see what Princess thought of her proposal. After all she did force the girl to play pretend with her, might as well show good faith and let her pick a game as well.
