(Preferably any RED survivors? Don't let that discourage you from speaking up if you're blue...)

(PS -- Anyone may join. At their own risk.)

(PPS -- No nice zombies. We want horror and carnage here please, if that's ok <3 Hungry, savage, eager to kill.)

The carnage in the school was horrific.

After all was said and done, it had been only 24 hours since they had met Team Columbus near the gym, and so far, the only survivors they had met were the ones who had managed to stumble into the makeshift base Andeon and Micky had built haphazardly in hopes of a relatively 'safe' place. Not that any place was really SAFE in this hell-on-earth.

Stepping over another half-ingested corpse, Mackenzie swallowed, holding tight to one of the flashlights they had found along their escapades, the other hand gripping a Louisville Slugger. 24 hours had been long enough for her to get her act together regarding the whole 'smash your now-zombified lover's neck in,' although her nerves were certainly frayed. The school was a lot more ******** over than she would have ever thought. Fire had ravaged the structure in some parts, making any movement in some parts of the building as dangerous as walking in a field of landmines. At any moment the roof could collapse on you, crushing you beneath concrete and brick and burned wood like a bug beneath some uncaring boot. But that wasn't even the worst of it. The worst was stumbling through the dark, not knowing, unseeing, your own breathing the only thing you can hear. The worst was placing your hand on the wall and feeling something warm and slimy slide through your fingers, and knowing it's fresh. The worst was stumbling into a room and finding that the zombies were intelligent enough to sometimes cook the flesh before devouring it, and yet monstrous enough to tear you apart and eat you while you were still alive.

She had not slept well that night.

She and Andeon had agreed to go look for survivors. Part of it was probably motivated by what they had seen, and the hope that no one would ever suffer the same fate again.

Then again, they might have been walking to their dooms.

Zombie Pines was a ******** deathtrap. but leave it to Andeon and Mackenzie to feel as though they needed to go look for survivors while most of the others were either sleeping or standing guard over their 'home' camp.

On rare occasion a scream would pierce the eery silence. If Andeon had learned one thing from horror movies and his brief stint in Death Academy for Gifted Young People Soon To Be Dead, it was that you never, ever went towards the screaming. Tired, hungry people in need of help did not scream like they were being murdered. People who were being ******** murdered screamed like that, and Andeon just wasn't up for an instance of too little, too late that would just leave him face to face with whatever horrendous creature happened to be to blame.

Their task was made infinitely more difficult by the fact that they couldn't shout for survivors. Even armed with their feeble weapons, even the slightest noise could act like a homing beacon for the remaining zombies. They had to pick their way carefully across the campus, walking on bloody, dismembered eggshells so as to not alert the undead horde to their presence.

“We should check the library,” Andeon whispered, tightening his grip on the flagpole that served as his weapon, “Any of the main areas are more likely to attract people looking for somewhere safe.”

"Andeon?"

The voice was much too loud, shattering the tense quiet that Mackenzie and Andeon had slunk through -- especially in the dark. When their flashlights swung around, they first settled on the Barren Pines uniform coming out of the night in torn scraps -- and then the skin, that unsettling shade of green, the long clawed hands. One of the left hands was uncomfortably settled on a gun.

It was Benny Beldon, with what was unmistakeably a gunshot wound to his left temple. Looking confused, his pupils floating around in the too-wide whites of his eyes, his canines looking raggedly extended. Benny Beldon, who just looked at them with wide innocent eyes like a dead monstrous puppy, who still looked at the gun and then at them as though there was some mysterious link.

"Andeon? Andeon Boskovic? Hey, it's me -- it's me, Benny." Anxiously bluff, cheerful. "Isn't that Mackie? Hey, Mackie! How's it! How's it going!"

There was a terrible rasp underneath his voice, as though he was speaking through a mouthful of gravel. His eyes kept wandering around. His strawberry-blonde hair was matted with blood. And he was raising the gun and he was smiling with that same horrible pupil-floating expression.

"It's me," he repeated.

The flashlight flashed over him again, to note: his teeth were stained red.
PostPosted: Wed Dec 02, 2009 3:44 pm

Micky gave a silent nod, the thought not occurring to her that Andeon might not be able to see it. The sound of the voice, echoing way too loud to them, snapped the redhead to attention, all nerves on fire as she lifted the flashlight slowly to the person who spoke. At first it was a relief -- the voice seemed friendly, and was calling Andeon by name. The zombies she had come in contact with before this had all been less than rational. It soon became apparent, however, that things were very very wrong. As the light lifted to Benny's face, Micky immediately froze, her muscles locking. Gunshot. To the temple.

There was absolutely no way that Benny Beldon was 'alive.'

Sucking in a slow, shaky breath, Mack swallowed, her eyes flickering from the raised gun to the other student's face, her mouth going dry. "Hey... Benny," She replied warily, trying to keep her voice relatively calm and neutral, "What're you doing over here?"

Public relations... they could do this. Benny seemed rational... despite the... blood stained teeth... and the gun in his hand. Maybe she could reason with him. Maybe. At this point, it seemed the best option. The fact remained that neither of them could outrun a bullet. Moving one elbow slowly, ever so slowly, she applied just a hint of pressure to Andeon's side. It was dark. She didn't know how well zombies could see, but it looked like the only source of light was the flashlight. Maybe... Andeon could try to work into a better position...

Then again, Andeon's name had been the first he had called.

“Andeon?”

The sound nearly made Andeon jump out of his skin. It was entirely too dark, entire to creepy, and entirely too zombie ******** apocalypse for people to be running around saying his name at random. His flashlight spun to spotlight Benny, and Andeon's entire body tensed at the sight. Not even the rose-colored lenses that tinted his view could make that sight a pleasant one.

Bacterial meningitis, huh?

It was not the green skin or the blatant gunshot wound that drew Andeon's attention. Nor was it the too-wide eyes or the fiendishly red teeth. It was the gun on which Andeon's gaze snagged, his stomach knotting as he suddenly felt, really felt, for the first time that he might die in this place. It occurred to Andeon that he might not be the hero of this story. Maybe he was never the protagonist who was meant to endure hell, become the Chosen One, get the girl, and live happily ever after. He might, in fact, be that guy who just dies off in the background. The opening kill. One of the small colored dots falling off the bridge. One of the faceless millions killed off by the plague in the opening credits. A nameless blood smear to be passed at a later point in time, providing an eerie backdrop through which the real protagonist might trek.

If so, Andeon just prayed that the real protagonist of this story wasn't Sue. ******** his life if he was going to be a nameless stuntman in the feature film of Sue's grand escape.

Sue was a d**k.

He watched that gun as though it might fire of it's own accord. You could fight zombies. You could hit them, maim them, break their neck with a baseball bat and then set them on fire. You couldn't hit a bullet. You couldn't main it, break it, or set it on fire as it barreled towards you with Death written all over it.

This wasn't the ******** Matrix.

Then again, two weeks ago Andeon would have said 'This wasn't ******** Resident Evil' too. Briefly, he tried to target the gun with his mind, focusing intently upon it. He envisioned it turning into a bouquet of flowers, a teddy bear, a harmless rubber duck. He thought about it simply vanishing, nothing more than a sequence of binary code deleted from this crazy, crazy virtual world. The metal stared back at him, reflecting his flashlight as the barrel began to rise. Apparently, Barren Pines was limited to one movie fantasy world at a time.

Andeon briefly mourned the fact that he would never be able to wear a black trench coat and make mysterious calls on the payphone before flying off into the sky in a brilliant display of his One-ness. Then he quickly dragged himself back to reality.

Mackenzie's rib was in his side, and Andeon was suddenly aware of the true danger of the situation. Mackenzie could die. Benny could turn that gun on her and fire, snuffing out her beautiful, charming, witty life in the blink of an eye. She had endured so much already. For her life to be stolen away after so much trial... the thought made Andeon's heart skip a beat, his breath held tightly in lungs that seemed to be frozen in fear. For a brief moment, his hand found Mackenzie's and squeezed it gently as though to say Everything will be alright. It did so while he shifted slightly to the side to place himself between her and Benny.

And then, after one small squeeze, it was gone. It wrapped around the flagpole as Andeon lunged forward, the spade-tipped flagpole extended like a spear. A spear aimed right for Benny's gut.

Do not hesitate.

Do not question.

Us versus Them.

Andeon barreled towards Benny with full knowledge that, should the boy be quick enough, he could dodge the attack. Knowing that even if he hit, he would bring himself close enough that those clawed hands could choke the life right out of him. Andeon imagined the dozen ways in which he could die in the next thirty seconds, but he moved forward regardless.

But he couldn't save Yvette.

He couldn't save Fallon.

He wouldn't lose Mackenzie, too.

Benny raised his gun and fired in apparent surprise (or was it?) as Andeon barrelled towards him with his makeshift spear. There was the pop, pop! of a gun going off, and things were happening too quickly to see where the bullets went -- his mouth was lifted in a snarl and the wandering pupils were now wandering at twice the speed, darting in and out like surprised fishes as he dropped the gun and reared forward --

The spade flagpole rammed through his shoulder. This was possibly one for the American Way.

"ANDEON!"

Mack's face paled as the pink-haired boy ran towards Zombie!Benny, gasping audibly as she heard the gunshot resound through the hallway. Immediately the heavy black flashlight fell to the floor with a clunk, flickering before rolling to one side, forgotten. The redhead's heart was pounding as she dashed forward, throwing caution to the wind. If she really thought about it, she could have come up with a dozen excuses as to why she dropped the flashlight. It would alert the zombie she was coming. She needed both hands to use her bat. Etc, etc. But none of it was true. Nothing was going through Micky's head, no conscious thoughts. Only fear. Blood-chilling fear and the adrenaline.

Running blind, the green-eyed girl extended the weapon in her hand, gripping it in both hand and feeling around in the dark, white-knuckled. She felt the soft give of a body, and immediately she pulled back, biting down hard enough on her bottom lip as she swung, tasting blood in her mouth. s**t... s**t she hoped she was hitting the right shadowed figure. They all looked the same, scuffling around in the dark like that. She just couldn't be sure! It was impossible, but ********, if she didn't act now, he might die, and she just could do it, not again.

The shots rang loudly in Andeon's ears, his eardrums stinging from the close-range fire. It was compounded by a sudden pain as one bullet grazed his shoulder, leaving only a shallow trail of blood before embedding itself in the far wall. He wanted to make some kind of noise, to whine and cry and b***h and piss and moan about being shot, but there was no time for that. He twisted the spear violently, and was just about to try and yank it out for another go when he heard the sick, squishy, all too familiar sound of a Little Slugger making contact with zombie flesh.

Thwack!

God ******** bless Mackenzie O'Connell.

There was a massive WHUMP and a body fell down -- after horrifying, heart-palpitating anxiousness, it become apparent that the body falling was that of the zombie Benson Beldon. He fell to the ground, silent and still, staring upwards at the sky with unseeing eyes and pupils that had finally rolled back into the sockets. The gun clattered to his side, thankfully not going off, and Andeon was a saved princess.

Disappointing. Linarite was incredibly bored with this whole scenario, and was feeling particularly bitchy. Bitchy enough that she wanted to bring beloved Nealite a little present. Specifically, the head of one Andeon Boskovic. The glares and eyerolling that had accompanied his pickup lines and bombastic slurs had been too hilarious for the teen, and it was about time someone did something to kill off these morons.

Chronos was out there somewhere, and they weren't supposed to let her get to any of the rest of the kids. If dismembered, there was probably no way that he could be resurrected. Right?

Setting this thought aside, Lina turned to browse through her mental choice, before grabbing three youma students at random. She didn't know their names, and really didn't care to. They were beyond such things now, and would follow her every command. 'Follow me' was simple enough, and while they were mildly resistant, they did what she asked with silence.

"Well, it's not surprising that you don't die so easily, Andeon. Perhaps Ms. Johnson cast you well enough after all." The bluenette's voice carried smoothly across the empty space, denying any relief the pair of students might have felt at the re-death of Benson. "Not even a youma with a gun is effective."

The body went down, and Mack paused -- one mississippi, two mississippi, three mississippi. After that, she raised the bat again, kicking around with one booted foot until she found the head of... whatever she had hit. Lord in heaven, Buddha, Allah, please let her have hit the zombie. She hadn't heard a scream of pain, something she prayed was a good thing. If not, it meant whatever she had hit was probably dead. She had to be sure though. Lifting the bat again quickly, she brought it down sloppily on the skull.

Rule #2 of Team Tallahassee -- Don't Forget to Double Tap.

Sucking in another deep breath, Mackenzie just stood there for a few seconds, shaking violently, not bothering to lick the blood from her lip.

"A-andeon?" Her voice cracked as she called out into the darkness, high-pitched compared to her normal lower voice, wringing her hands on the handle of her weapon. Swallowing thickly, she felt around in the darkness a little more, trying to sort through her wild thoughts (Oh s**t, please don't let it have been him.) Answer me! Don't you dare play this game you... you ******** p***k!" The touch of warm, living flesh, and Micky let out a relieved, humorless laugh, ducking down to lift his shoulders a little, curling an arm behind him. "S-s**t... I thought... you ******** moron, running in front of a gun, what do you have, a death wish?!"

She was just so relieved he was alive. So relieved, she even leaned down to kiss his cheek, laughing weakly, momentarily forgetting there could be more lurking in the shadows.

The relief was short lived. The sound of a voice, female this time, drained the blissful happiness she had felt to know Andeon had lived. 'It's not surprising that you don't do so easily...' So. She was behind this. Relief turned to shock, which quickly snapped to anger. Somehow, the redhead managed to keep quiet, tightening her grip on the pink-haired boy's shoulders, eyes scanning the darkness.

“I'VE BEEN SHOT! CALL THE COAST GUARD.” Andeon said abruptly, the tone of his voice making the drama of the moment quite apparent. “CALL THE NAVY. CALL NATALIE PORTMAN.” He wailed, jazz-handing with the arm that hadn't been horribly, awfully, terribly wounded (read as: lightly grazed by the bullet). Of course, she couldn't see his classic glee club gesture, but that was entirely besides the point. Mackenzie's lips on his cheek brought a moment of joy. They were alive. They were both alive. He wasn't going to have to bury Mackenzie O'Connell. He wouldn't have to see her lying on the ground, pale and cold and looking up at him with eyes that asked 'Why couldn't you save me? Why couldn't you save any of us?”

Because they were alive. Sure, they were still trapped in a zombie-infested school from hell, but they were alive.

And then the relief drained from his body and the color drained from his face as Linarite's voice echoed in the room, shattering the moment of bliss like a rock through a window pane. The overwhelming relief of being alive was stolen away with that simple statement, and Andeon turned his head towards the source. He reached for the flashlight, groped blindly along the floor, until his hand found the cold metal tube. Thumb pressed down on the rubber button until he heard the telltale click and a beam of light illuminated the blue-haired lieutenant.

Andeon shot to his feet, sidestepping in front of Mackenzie. It was instinct by now, really. Where his sudden sense of obligation over those past few days had come from he neither knew nor cared. Maybe it was simply part of being a man, or his chauvinism telling him the Mackenzie, who had just saved his a**, needed him. Maybe it was just his fondness for women. After all, he would not have stepped in front of Lucas like that. Or Nihls. Or Sue. Then again, Sue was a d**k. Whatever it was, he felt that same sense of dread as he set an angry gaze upon the bold bluenette, brow narrowed above the rose-colored glasses.

A youma, she had said. Is that what these monsters were called then? These insane, bloodthirsty mimics of the people they had known and loved. Only one thing was clear to Andeon; they were finally meeting someone who knew what was going on. Someone who was cool and calm and collected, standing there and speaking as though she owned the place.

Someone who seemed intent on killing them all.

It was not until Andeon's eyes fell upon the three students that he realized they never stood a chance. For a moment he could only stare, wide-eyed and slack jawed at the faces he had seen in the halls during better days. Mouths that had once gossiped and laughed now hung agape. Hands that had once written shitty essays about federal government and the Boston Tea party now hung, gnarled and clawed and ready to rip them both limb from limb. He stared at them, first horrified, then mournful. His expression went through a series of emotions, but where it landed was resignation. Acceptance. The look of tired admittance, where you knew that you were outnumbered and outmatched. There were no more free passes, no more narrow misses.

In one sudden, staggering moment, Andeon Boskovic realized that he was going to die.

And so, he inhaled one deep, slow breath. He lifted his chin to fix the bluenette with a sturdy gaze which slipped, only momentarily, to the students at her side. To the monsters that would be the death of him, so that the blue-haired b***h wouldn't have to get her own ******** hands dirty.

“Not in front of her.” He asked, his voice steady but pleading. Surely, she wanted to kill both of them, but it was he who she had spoken to. It was he who she had targeted with that piercing gaze. His brows rose slightly, and Andeon fought back a wave of terror that threatened to make his knees buckle. He could die. Of course, he could die. Some small part of him, beneath the boozing and the sleeping around and the constant escape from everything real and human and intimidating, had been waiting for that day. All of the emotion he'd stored away the day Jakob died came rushing out of him. All of the feeling and humanity and willingness to face life as it was, instead of how he wished it had been, came pouring out into those simple words.

“Please.. let me say goodbye, and just let her go.”

A hand ran slowly through her beautiful, bountiful blue curls as Linarite simply eyed the pair in front of her. It was like a scene from a classic Hollywood movie. The cool, beautiful female villain whose weapon was leveled straight at the male victim. The femme fatale was swooning in his arms, as the male lead pleaded for her life.

They thought it was so noble, to die for the other. But really, they were teenagers! And to boot, none of this mattered. It would never matter. Displays of emotion, incredible nobility, even admirable courage in the face of death. None of it mattered. And so, that hand that had so coolly disturbed the deep icy tresses, waved negligently.

"I don't even know who she is. You're the one I'm after, Andeon. Maybe she'll run fast enough that I'll forget about her entirely, while we have a nice time together." The sharp smile indicated how very nice a time at least one of them would have. Odds were not looking well for the heroic Andeon as Linarite's mind painted the scene and the pathetic dialogue that'd come next.

No doubt there would be a good deal of kissing. If she had to sit and watch someone make out, they'd both die. Faster than she wanted anyone to die, that was for damn sure. Nobody was allowed to enjoy a relationship, if hers was on the rocks. At least, not in front of her.
PostPosted: Wed Dec 02, 2009 11:08 pm

This girl made her sick. Mackenzie was up in an instant, snatching Andeon by the shoulder and whipping him around, jerking him forcefully away from the blue-haired girl threatening him. In her stomach, anger was coiling in her stomach, quickly replacing anything else she had felt. She was still shaking -- quivering like a leaf -- but the fear had diminished, crushed beneath Linarite's pretty booted heel. She really wanted to kill him.

Diplomacy be damned.

"There will be no goodbyes," She replied through calm, narrowed eyes, straightening her spine and standing up as tall as she could. To a normal person, Mack might have looked threatening, her height unusual for girls. Linarite, however, was no normal girl. She knew this... it didn't take a genius to realize someone who could control these zombies was less than normal. "I don't know who you are, but this is Team Tallahassee. We don't roll over for bitches like you."

She didn't know what she was planning to accomplish. The youma hung behind Linarite like obedient minions, ready to devour them at any moment. But by now, it didn't matter. The need to survive had overridden who she was, who she had been, and in that moment, Mackenzie had realized. It was wrong. It was all wrong. THIS was wrong. And she certainly was not going to turn over anyone -- not Andeon, not Nihls, not Lucas or Billy or Kirin or Piper or even Sue, god damn Sue, whom Andeon hated for whatever reason.

"We're going to make it," She mumbled, a small, twistedly confident smile curling the redhead's lips, squeezing Andeon's shoulder, "You're not going to die. We're getting out of here. I promise."

It all happened so fast. Suddenly Micky was raising her arm, revealing not the baseball bat but the gun Benny had dropped as he had died. Within the next few seconds she released a few shots in quick succession at the Negaverse Lt, her arm jerking with the recoil of an obvious newbie.

Deep gold eyes went wide with surprise and her body reacted before anything else, and she yelled out before she could think. "BLOCK!" Immediately, the three youma threw themselves in front of the teenage soldier, but only one was needed. A golden-haired student fell to the ground, twitching once before laying still, a mirror image of the re-deceased Benson Beldon.

Snarling in anger, and even some fear, because who the hell gave the students guns?!, Lina pointed imperiously at Andeon. Holding one by the wrist so it would be a delightful meatshield should the girl decide to be homicidal yet again, a she barked out only one order. "Get him!" The only boy she'd been able to snag lunged forward, swiping at the pink-haired male. The mistress had asked, and he was only too glad to deliver for her. He would do whatever she asked.

Unfortunately, his gift was not remotely athletic, and death had not helped this. Clumsily, he swiped and tried to grab Andeon, while Linarite screamed at yelled at him from her position behind the somewhat overweight young woman serving as her cover. "I swear to the darkness I will destroy you if you do not bring me that boy NOW!"
