Claws dug into the hard ground. She was incredibly fast, nothing but a mere black blur. One would think nothing of it; but, a shadow that had moved or a possible ghost in the jungles. Saraphina laughed slightly at the thoughts. Whispers, rumors and talk of a black beast in her Sleeping jungles of Roses drifted to her through others' dreams at night. Jumping from a fallen log, she lunged twenty feet to the next, then landed swiftly and gracefully with a single twirl, as her wings snapped open and caught the last few feet of air. Sara sat on the log with her tail curled around her claws; the peacock feather visible to all. A single ray of light shone down on her near black pelt, and she laughed. "Trying to show them I'm any good at all brother?" Sara peered up and smiled lovingly for an instant. She still loved her brother, even if he was the good one.

His maw dripped with fresh blood. A shredded, unrecognizable corpse lay at his feet in ruins. This had been a beautiful baby gazelle, but the young always tasted so much sweeter, more flavorful, and juicy to boot. His eyes were glazed over, and his hunger thirsted for more. Erebus couldn't stop. After that night, after he drank from her, all he wanted to do was have another taste of that blood. But nothing compared to it, and so he went on a feeding frenzy in order to satisfy his thirst. It wasn't just to keep his body any more, Erebus wanted to drink from her again, she had become his addiction. Dead carcases littered the ground throughout the jungle. Two or three here, four more there. He had become the Black Beast of the Blood Roses. His new title seemed to give him an ego. Maybe she'd like it; would appreciate the face that he had become the true demon for her. Erebus went along his merry way, the blood still dripping from his mouth.

Saraphina stared up at the clear skies for a moment longer, before snapping her smile and eyes away from them. They didn't deserve to see her smiling. She wasn't happy here. They had imprisoned her to walk among mortals for eternity, to live like them, and her wings had been clipped in a sense of she couldn't fly as high nor as freely as she pleased. Growling, she turned a baring grin toward them. Let them see how good I am now, she thought, I'll kill something tonight. I'll give the body up for sacrifice, Sara's twisted thoughts bent to her satisfaction and before she knew it, she smelled blood. Hopping off the log with a light step, she landed on the dirt ground without a single noise. Glaring once more up at the open sky, she made a promise to show them soon. Sara bent low to the ground, stalking her way toward the scent. It was mouthwatering, a familiar blood she had loved draining for her gods of darkness. Sniffing the air, Sara sighed with a dazed look in her eyes. She charged to one side and came around the side of a tree, knocking a rather black figure to the ground. Her claws dug into fur and drew . . . nothing? It didn't bleed? For a moment Sara was confused.

Erebus snarled at the sudden attack, and lashed out missing his target as his attacker moved in a blur. Rolling to his feet, Erebus looked around, catching sight of the blur once more. Lunging toward it, he grabbed hold of soft, black fur with his claws and recognized the golden glowing eyes. "Saraphina, it's been a few nights. Hasn't it?" he grinned deviously. He loved playing with those he'd drank from before, they never remembered him and instead had flashes, short memories of who he was, or what he was. Letting go of his hold on her, Erebus straightened and chuckled. "Don't you know who I am? We had fun a while back," his grin widened and his eyes gleamed with a hunger for blood. But oddly his thirst calmed as he got closer to her, it was nearly gone.

Saraphina ducked to one side and ran in a quick circle around him. She'd confuse her prey then strike when he least expected it. Surprised that he was able to catch her, Sara jumped and attempted to fling him into the nearest tree, but instead she heard her name and a familiar, charming voice. "Why hello darling," she skidded to a somewhat graceful stop in front of the dragon and smiled, "It has been a few nights. Remind me exactly, who are you?" Sara was about to say something else when she caught his eyes and held them. Pain flashed through her mind and her neck throbbed. A few nights ago was when she had that nightmare . . . Was it him she saw? When she tried to picture who it was in her dream that had bit her, the picture seemed to fade away; it was nothing but a shadow. She couldn't hold onto the nightmare, but then again she didn't want to. Glancing away, Sara waited until the pain faded and she had a clear mind. "You're a demon, I can sense that much," she mummbled. "Why do I feel like I know you from somewhere?" Sara asked herself more, than she did him.

He moved closer to her and brushed against her side, "I'm Erebus," his chuckle sounded cruel, as he moved in a circle around her. The end of his tail bushed gently across her cheek, and he felt her shiver. Of course she'd recognize the name, but not who she had met before. He smiled mentally and came to sit in front of her. "Sara, you dissapoint me. You insult me. How can you forget such a wonderful night?" Erebus chuckled and nuzzled her cheek, "I can help you remember," he looked her over, "What a perfect creature you are. Such beauty. It's a shame that you hide out here, don't you get lonely? Don't you want someone by your side?" Erebus licked his lips and grinned. Her scent was like her blood, sweet and addicting. He could almost taste her again.

Saraphina shivered and felt a tingle run through her body. Instantly at his words she grew angered; rage boiled up in the pit of her stomach. "How dare you accuse me of forgetting something that never happened!" she spat each word out and hissed, "No amount of compliments can save you this time. How you got away last time is a mystery to me," Sara raised one clawed paw and brought it down to slash at him, her intent to kill, "But this time will be different!" Her claws stopped short, just an inch away from his face. Invisible, gold chains held her extended arm in place, not allowing her to harm Erebus at all. In her head, she could hear her brother t'sking his dissaproval. "You know the rules Sarakiel," he scolded her. Silently, Sara cursed under her breath and growled toward the sky, the whole time her glowing eyes stayed on the dragon. "Erebus, you're lucky," she hissed. Sara sighed and sheathed her claws, letting them relax as she sat once again with her tail curled around her paws. She wasn't only angry at his accusations, but also at the tight, fluttery feeling in her stomach any time this demon touched her. Sara hadn't felt like this for a long time, and she vowed she'd never again show anyone love -- except herself that is -- because of one lion, who broke her heart the day he left her for another. "You can't have anything from me without a fight," Sara spoke the words she had before, and felt a whack of deja' vu to the face.

Erebus stood without flinching. He knew she couldn't hurt him on purpose or out of pure emotion. She could only defend herself. For a moment he felt pity for her, to be Fallen, to be cast out of the skies forever . . . That wasn't true, she wasn't banished forever. Eventually this lioness could reclaim her spot, but she'd have to be a good lioness for centuries. Which he doubt she'd even try. Chuckling, Erebus came closer to her. At that moment a memory of hers flooded his mind. Emotions of happiness and love knocked him off of his feet. So she had been happy at one time. Erebus stood up and dusted himself off, "Who says I want to fight?" He breathed her scent in and layed his head to rest on shoulder. He thought for sure she'd walk away, but instead she stayed still and stiffly moved her head to rest on his, before relaxing against him. "So that's why you hold so much anger," he spoke softly, but his tone held an old wisdom to it. "You shouldn't have to suffer because of another."

Sara took a deep breath and relaxed against him, feeling herself finally tire from all of the anger. She wanted to cry but wouldn't. "No one knows why I do. There are many reasons, you just happen to know the main one," she spoke tiredly and considered his advice. "I don't suffer because of anyone. I do things my own way, I deal with things the way I want to-"

"Don't lie to yourself, you just make it worse," Erebus moved his head head to look her in the eyes. What had started out as a game to him, suddenly turned serious. He had forgotten about his thirst and all he wanted to do now, was help her. Erebus knew how it was to feel nothing but anger, fear, madness, and insane. She may not have been all of this, but still it was close. "I could help you, if you'd allow it. In return, I'd like you to help me."

"Fine. But how do I help you? I don't even know what you need help with," Sara glanced past him to look at a tree when he tried holding her eyes. Glancing ever so often to his silver eyes, she found no pain flashed through her head, no fear went through her body.

He took hold of her chin and lifted her eyes to his, "One thing is obvious, but the other is not. I need to feed every night. I don't eat gazelle or any wild animal like you do, I drink their blood and I find I prefer yours over others," he hesitated on his words but kept going until he felt cofident she'd understand. "It's the only way I'm able to walk among the living. Then the last thing I need help with, you'll know when its been done." Erebus moved to lay on the ground, and gently pulled her to the ground with him. Curling up around her, he intertwined his tail with hers and fell asleep.
