He had grown in the time that he had been meeting with Moricorm. She had been teaching him the tricks of the trade.. Teaching him what it meant to be a true Demon. Of course, he had not decided to make the complete decision to leave his mother yet, but that would happen soon enough he was sure. She was constantly angry with him, saying he spent too much time outside of her watch. Maybe she should watch him better, was the most he could say to that.
White toes touched the earth as the black body moved through the open lands. He wasnt far from the family right now, but he was far enough away to remain secretive in his actions.
If momma found him torturing something, she'd filet him. He needed to keep this secret..For now.
"Anyone out here?" He called.
His purple ears swiveled, a voice calling to him. With a small amount of knowing, but no caring at all, Phlegyas was once more just a little bit closer to his home. Tilting his head, he wondered if it was a fellow demon, though he thought it odd that one would call out instead of stalking up on one of their princes. He took to the direction of the voice, and assumed a hunting position, low to the ground, his red eyes piercing through the greens and browns of the grasses. His shoulders rolled, a shrugging as he slunk closer and closer.
When he came to the source, he was slightly confused. It was a juvenile, and not one that he'd seen back at the pride. He tilted his head and continued to watch before uttering "Psstt..."
Roth heard the approaching creature..And judging by the fact that he heard it, and did not see it..He was being stalked. He stood a bit lower to the earth, as if trying to make himself invisible, but that wouldnt work if he had been noticed already. He didnt like being watched. It gave him a feeling that he did not like.. It seemed to give him a bad feeling deep into the pit of his stomach.
When he heard the psst, he whipped around, finally noticing the purple lion hiding within the grasses length. He narrowed his red eyes and raised his lip a little.
"Are you mad? Trying to attack me?.." But he stopped, and waited for a reply..Because the bigger male could surely attack him, but he would be in for a hell of a fight.
Phlegyas rose up to his full adolescent height. He was quite a bit bigger than the jvue, perhaps due to Iar's stature, or maybe because of Posca's divinity.
"On the contrary. I think you mad for wandering so close to the pride of demons..." His voice was low, gravelly with it's deepness, and it rumbled forth from his chest, not unlike a growl. Of course, what he didn't know is that this young juve had crossed paths with a demoness before, and a half sister of his, no less.
He circled the young one, a few bound's way away, but never taking his eyes off of him. Without noticing it himself, the Tarenai had become steadily colder and crueler as time wore on. But he was still quite far from attacking a lone and defenseless juvenile.
Roth stood a bit taller, obviously having heard of the Demons before. He did not seem surprised by the knowledge, and in fact.. He scoffed as the male started informing him that he should not be here.
"Ive got a demon too, ya know. I find that he has been talking to me more and more lately." He voiced, proud to have finally heard that dark voice deep within. Turns out it had been in him all along, if only he had listened a bit better.
"So..So you're a demon?" He asked, cocking his head, but not seeming to lose his defensive stance.
Phlegyas chortled, as this small thing tried to show him up. "That really isn't anything to be bragging about, little one." He looked down his nose, and grinned in a wicked way, the nagging in the back of his head loud and clear, moreso today than any other time. It had grown in this manner since he left on his name quest.
He threw out his chest further, though knowing full well he didn't have to impress this youngster. "As a matter of fact... I'm their prince!" He lowered his head to Roth's level, matching red eye to red eye, and he stared deep into them before breaking his gaze, and resuming his walk around the youth. He didn't mention that he was one of many princes, or that Verge's and Iar's sons from previous litters were more likely to ascend to the throne, but still. It was a very impressive title, especially considering his matriarchal heritage as well.
The male seemed to stare at him a bit, and he seemed to be judging hum outright in his mind. But Roth wanted to join that demon pride. He had great aspirations to be a dark warrior too. It was something he had treasured since meeting Doto. It was his fate.
"Oh so youre a prince? Thats cool.." Though he did not seem extremely impressed. He bowed a bit, hoping to not offend, but he really felt the need to..not care what was thought of him. Though, this being the prince he should probably watch himself.
"Im called Roth."
The prince didn't take his feigned sincerity for much. He shrugged. He'd seen a couple of cubs worse off than this Roth that wanted to join the pride. Galavanting around claiming to have heard their own demon speak, and to already know its name as a juvenile. He wasn't ready to say this lion was a demon, nor would he debunk it. The time for him to prove himself would come in the pride, just as Phle underwent the test of the scalding waters of the sacred hot springs.
"Roth. And do you know your demon name yet?" He turned his face, so that he was watching him with only one eye, the one with the jagged mark of his father's back jutting out from under it.
He sighed a bit. That, he had not. He wished that he had a demon name, but he supposed those were to be earned. He had done nothing to earn anything whatsoever. But he was learning.
"No, I dont think Im supposed to yet. Seems like something thats a source of honor..Cant have someone calling themselves something they havent proven they are." He nodded, having a bit of a logical mind sometimes. Though he felt a bit of a wuss to say it. He hated admitting his weakness.
"I shall learn my name one day, though. I swear it." He smiled, his eyes growing a bit dark.

Phlegyas nodded his head, looking back towards his pride. "Smart boy. If you're a true demon, you'll hear it sooner or later. Probably later. I even know adults that know of their demon but not of their name." And it was true. Sometimes it took a lion a very, very long time to learn their demon's name, even if it was the cruelest beast that was unquestionably demonic.
The adolescent saw the glint in the youth's eye, noting it. Maybe this kid really was a demon. Huh. Phle watched him intently.

He paused, nodding. He was glad that he had a head on his shoulders. He had answered correctly, he could have always made something up. But Roth didnt see the need to lie. Thats not how he overpowered.
"So..So you think I have what it takes?" He asked, flicking his tail and looking at the purple male with bright red orbs. They held a wicked gleam, and he hoped that hte male saw his dedication.
He wasnt here to find a demon. He was here, to learn his.

Phle's ear flicked in the direction of the question. "Hmm?" He looked the young one up and down before answering. "No, of course not. Not yet. They'd rip you to shreds in the pride. But as you grow and as you learn, yes, maybe." The male shrugged, staring down at Roth and continuing his evaluation.
The boy had potential, for sure. But he'd do better sticking with his family and growing some more before he tried to get any closer to the demons. And hopefully- maybe, he'd change his mind. Phlegyas knew he'd have never dabbled with the demons had he not been stolen.

He nodded, appreciating the advice. He liked knowing that at least one of the demons wouldn't rip him up... Though he knew Moricorm would stand up for him in that instance. He was her protege after all, and she had told him before how proud she was that she had found him... So ready and willing. "Good. I shall come back as an adult, and then I will show what I've got." He nodded, giving a sly grin. He liked this guy, maybe when he returned, he could run into him again and possibly form some kind of alliance with the male. But then again... he only wished to survive it first.

Phlegyas eyed him. If they were the same age he probably would have invited Roth back to the pride with him now. "Of course. Find me again once you've found your demon." Without another word the prince turned his back on the young, aspiring demon and headed back to his home pride. He himself was close to discovering his own demon. He figured it would be any day now. The thought both scared and excited him. He feared for his humanity and the way he used to be as a cub when he loathed every demon- his father especially. But the darker, colder part of him seemed to shudder in anticipation. The end.
