Kimaria
Kiburi lay on her side, watching her tail twitch from side to side in a lazy motion. There was nothing to do, there was never anything to do in the Pridelands! She yawned, white teeth glinting as she got up and shook her body to rid it of dust. Her colour meant that she was alsways being washed and it wasn't something she particularly enjoyed.

With a small mewling sound she began to head through the grass, glancing about for her brother. She needed someone to tease!

Mchele on the other hand, quite liked the easy calm life that being in the Pride meant for him. At least while he was still quite young in any case. He also did enjoyed baths and was currently giving himself one now. Laying on his belly in the shade of a nearby tree he calmly and happily licked at his forepaw and used to to rub at his face. So wrapped up in his cleaning, he wasn't paying too much attention to his surroundings.

Kimaria
With a small huff she swished her tail once more to the side, leaping up upon a small boulder to get a better view over the grass. Her legs were longer now but she would always be a rather small lionness, despite that however she was still determined not to let anyone get the better of her.

She had not yet told anyone - except for Uumi - about her desire to leave this place for more exciting lands, afraid of upsetting them - especially her parents. However, she felt sure that her brother would understand, he was someone she looked up to secretly.

She'd also miss him the most out of everyone.

It was during these thoughts that she came across him, completely unaware of her presence. She smirked, lowering herself to the ground and moving forwards. This was as good a time as any to practise her stalking skills, right?

However in her excitment one forepaw trod upon a stick that had lain in her path, it's sound giving her away.

DDB
At the sound of the snap, Mchele paused mid-lick and looked up. Ears twitching his eyes scanned the tall grass for any sign of whatever had made that noise. He was considering going back to his washing when something waffed along to his nose. A familiar scent. One almost as important as that of his parents and that he had grown to know ever since his birth. Kiburi of course!

He put his paw down and grinned to himself. "Kib! I know it's you! You're trying to pounce on me again. Well, I heard you coming so no point now."

Kimaria
Aw dammit, that was so unfair! Mchele must have cheated, it was the only explanation! She straightened her legs and slumped forwards through the grass, sticking her tongue out at him before flopping to the ground before him. A small cloud of dust rose up around her before settling on her fur.

"Mmmchele! How'd you know it was me?" She whined, she'd never be as good a huntress as her mama!

DDB
He didn't bother to get up when she approached, it was quite comfortable here the little patch of shade, and he just watched as she flopped down to lay near him too. He quickly returned her tongue-poking and chuckled.
"I smelt you! I know what you're scent is.... smelly sister smell!" He laughed, only joking around as brothers tended to do. "Heehee. But I heard you too. You made a sound. Mum never makes a sound when she's stalking. That's why she can pounce on stuff. But I wonder why they dn't smell her?" He pondered on this, not realising the concept of staying downwind of your prey.

Kimaria
She rolled her eyes at her brother's teasing and crawled forwards a little, eyeing his tail with a 'predator's look' - she still had to practise! "Dunno, mama know lots of things! I'll have to ask her one of these days." Prefferably before she left...

She yawned once more, the buzz of insects causing her ears to twitch as she blinked her slate-blue eyes and gazed around. "You like Pridelands Mchele?" She asked finally with a tilt of her head.

DDB
"Uh huh. Yeah we should." Mchele nodded. "I'd like to know. I don't seem to be able to catch much. Maybe there's some secret?" He though about the mouse he had caught a couple of days earlier and how it had bitten him. Ouch! He'd certainly have to ask about how you stopped the prey biting you when it was supposed to be the other way around!

He flicked his tail as he thought, but luckily he got up before it could become prey for his tricky sister. "Huh?" He looked over at her when she asked the question. "Yeah, I like it here. Food, water, family. Just right. Those red cubs are a bit weeeiiirrd though." He licked his muzzle and looked off towards the waterhole. "Hey, I'm thirsty. Want to go get a drink?"

Kimaria
Kiburi herself hadn't done any hunting as of such, unless you counted Mchele's tail and a couple of bugs who had scuttled in front of her. However now that she was getting older, the thought of hunting was more and more desireable. She wanted to see her parents and the other lionesses hunt, wanted to learn from them so that she'd be able to survive.

She glanced up at her brother and nodded, "yup, they really are weird." She agreed whole-heartedly, "I think maybe the sun made 'em go crazy." She giggled into her paws before raising and nodding in agreement. "Drink sounds good." And with that she turned to lead the way, paws moving swiftly upon the ground.

"Haha! The sun made them crazy! Probably! They're not very nice either. That red girl, Kiuma, you wouldn't believe what I saw her doing!" The golden-pelted cub gave a shudder at the thought.

Trotting along after his sister he tilted his head at her eagerness to take the lead. Yeah, she did like to be in front, in charge, even though he was the first born cub. And bigger than her! In fact he thought about this as he followed her to the waterhole....

Ducking down as they drew close to their destination, he trailed after her in a stalking-style gait and then, just as they reached the clearing where the waterhole was, he sprang at her back.

"Yeah she's a meanie, and her brother is a real grouch." Kiburi hadn't been expecting such a surprise attack from her brother seeing as she felt herself in charge. Her mind had been on other things, on the butterflies, the sun and of lands that existed otuside of the Prideland border.

So when she felt a weight upon her back she gave a squeak of surprise, scrambling forwards with a squeaky growl playing at her throat. "Mmmmchele!" She scolded, taking on a motherly tone. "Stop pouncing your sister, she's better than you." She giggled almost uncontrollably, stopping only when she found breathing difficult.

Then with a cubish roar she pounced forwards towards him, trying to tap at his hindquarters. "Tag, you're it!" Then with that she started running towards the water which wasn't far off.

Mchele had to agree with that. And the other cubs that Sarabi and Mufasa had didn't seem very friendly either. One was so quiet and the other two girls seemed happy doing their own thing without the other pridelander cubs. He was glad he had his sister. Even though she liked to pounce and tackle him, she was good company.

"Haha!" He laughed when she jumped forward and he lept clear to prance along after her. "Yeah right! Mum likes me best! And I'm older! And I don't wriggle and complain when it's bath time or time to sleep! No way are you better than me!" It only harmless teasing although some bits were based on stuff he did know.

Suddenly though she turned and came at him! He squeaked and turned tail dashing away. But she had gotten the benefit of surprise and caught up to pat at his hindleg with her paw. "Oh! Oh yeah?" He skidded to a stop and charged after her.

She turned her head to yell back at him as she ran, "Mchele goody-four-paws!" She squeaked, it wsn't her fault if she was a wriggly cub or that she'd rather spend time adventuring then sleeping. Her brother was silly! She stuck her tongue out at him, turning round just in time to skid to a halt, paws almost hitting the edge of the water.

Her sides heaved as she tried to catch her breath and turned to check Mchele was still following. She couldn't be captured, no, no, no!

"What did you call me?" He laughed and ran after her. Picking up his pace he tried to stretch out longer and catch her up. Or at least get close enough that he could leap on her. Had he more experience or at least watched his mother and the other adults hunting, he might have noticed how similar this was to them sprinting after and tackling a zebra.

In any case, Kib seemed to have slowed down. In fact she had come to a dead halt! Now was his chance! She wouldn't be able to speed up again very quickly. As was often the case when Mchele was chasing or stalking something, other details seemed to get forgotten. As was the case here and he didn't really take note that the reason she'd stopped was because they had reached the water's edge. Instead he gave a victorious growl and lept at her again, paws out but with his claws retracted.

"A goody-four-pa--" Her eyes widened as she saw him pounce and she gave a small squeak, cowering a little. The water! She didn't like the idea of falling in! Like most lions she wasn't too fond of water, preffering to keep warm and dry rather than cold and wet. Adding the fact that she wasn't too sure whether her paws were any good for swimming or not.

"Mchele!" She braced herself for the contact, eyes scrunching closed. Ahh what a wimp!

Mchele only just heard her shout his name as he flew towards her. It seemed to break some sort of concentration in him and he realised, too late, that the water lay just behind her. But there was no stopping now and with an 'Oophf!!' he smacked into her, the speed and weight of his moving body throwing them both back a bit and right into the shallow edge of the waterhole.

"Ahh!! Ah! Yuck yuck!" He cried, leaping to his feet as fast as he could. But it did little good as the water came right up his legs and touched his belly. Not to mention the ditch into the water in the first place had made all his sides wet. He flung up his head, held his tail high and scrambled back to the bank, lifting his paws as high as he could as he walked and looking very funny indeed!

The juvenile rolled backwards, the edge of the water shallow but deep enough to completeyl drench her. Wter invaded her nostrils, ears and mouth as she tried to breath and with one push she brought herself up out of the water by shifting to stand on her paws. From this position water lapped gently at her sides - being smaller than her brother - and all round her the water clouded with dust and dirt from her own fur, as well as being stirred up from the bottom.

She shivered, water running through her fur as she trudged out onto the bank, looking rather like a drowned rat. Her ears lay flat against her head, tail dragging along the ground, fur clung to her small body and her face looked quite pitiful. She gave a small mewling sound and then shook herself vigorously. Water cascaded about her, droplets sparkling in the sun as she tried to rid herself of them, fur now sticking up at odd angles making her look quite strange.

"Clumsy Mchele." She whimpered, reaching out to bat at his nose with a wet paw. "Messed up Kib's fur." Her small muzzle scrunched up.

Mchele quickly scurried up the gentle slope and out onto dry land. It didn't stay dry for long though, as the area where he stood was dripped on from his saturated fur. Urrrghhh..... He looked at himself. That had not meant to happen! Now look at him!

After looking at himself with disgust, he turned to see how Kiburi had faired. Well, she was actually worse off than him with her whole head and ears completely soaked. "Oh umm... oops." Was all he could manage as an explaination but any ideas about appologising were dashed when she shook and just managed to spray more water onto him. "Hey... Not my fault you decided to stop on the edge Kiiiiib...." He drawled back at her and then quickly leaned back as she made to swipe at his nose.

But she did look funny! He didn't want to look like that though and quickly began to lick his paws and smooth down his wet fur on his head. After a couple of strokes and a few licks at his sides to try and get rid of the water, he wandered over to his fluffed up sister. "Yeah it is pretty messy. You want help?" He reached over to give a couple of licks of her head, at least enough to flatten some of her furr there.

She watched as he tried to tidy himself up with a somewhat bemused expression. She'd never so much as groomed herself as he did, perhaps a few licks to her paws every now and then. Thanks to the quick dip in the waterhole however her fur was beginning to look a little less dirty.

She took a small step back as Mchele tried to aid her in grooming, who cares if she looked messy? Well okay...it wasn't very lady-like but she didn't want to be a graceful pridelander, she wanted to be a rogue! A shame then that she was a bit of a wimp.

"I can take care of my own fur Mmmchele." She squeaked, shaking herself once more briefly. "One day I gonna leave this place. Maybe one day soon!" She sighed, eyes sparkling, "I gonna be a rogue just like what mama and papa was before they came here."

"Fine! You never do it properly though." Having his offer to help rebuked, Mchele decided to go back to fixing himself up. Yes, he had a bit of a grooming complex. xd But he paused when he heard what else Kiburi had to say.

"Leave? Soon? What for? What's wrong with this place? Sure the other cubs are freaky... but mum and dad are here. It's nice." He looked at her surprised and not particularly keen on the idea. "A rogue? I dunno why you would want to. It's dangerous out there! It's dangerous on your own! Why do you think Mum and dad stopped being rogues and came here? Because it's better!"

She listened to Mchele with a slight tilt of her head. Why had mama and papa come here? Perhaps it was better, perhaps it was safer, but all Kib knew was that it was boring.

"You like it here too, huh." She gave a small sigh. The only other lion who had understood her was that crazy, grouchy, red cub Rocky. "I-I just find place boring. Kib want to meet new lions and see new places." Her tail swished, damp fur glistening in the sun. "You think mama will be mad?"

"I wouldn't leave forever." She added quickly. At the moment the only thing holding her back was her family. She loved her brother so, and her parents too and they would be the sole reason for her return.

"Boring? But it's nice! No danger, parents to feed you and look after you." Mchele thought about it. He had spoken to a cheetah a while back when he had still been a cub. She had told him about traveling - how exciting it could be, but also how dangerous.

"There are mean tree-cats out there, and hyeeenas! They'd eat you up! And can you hunt? Where would you sleep safe?" No no, the golden-furred cub has realised then what he would be missing out on if he went off traveling.

"Even if you don't leave forever... I don't think mum would like it." He sat down and shook his head. "Could you go with someone? Like dad? He might show you around if you really want to see other places." He paused, looking a bit more worried. "And.. and who will I play with?"

Her ears drooped and suddenly she felt her heart grow cold. Why should something that seemed so right make her and everyone unhappy? Was it just that she was too young? She sniffed, small nose wrinkling as she gazed down at her golden-dipped paws. They were so small compared to her mother's, she still had a long way to go. Was there really any rush?

She raised her head just as her brother finished speaking and she took a small step forwards.

"I find other lions to help me so I won't be alone." She didn't know who, but if mama had been a rogue they couldn't all be bad. She'd find some friends then they'd travel together, maybe make their own pride someday.

"Plus there are lots of other cubs to play with, even if they are weird." She made a face. "I'll be okay." Well she hoped she would at any rate. She didn't want to die just yet!
