The restless vixen beat her wings at a faster tempo than usual as she sored above the trees, under the night time sky. It was almost unbearable. The loneliness and memories of her childhood flowed through her and invaded her mind. She wanted, no needed, a place to go. She needed a place to escape herself. Soaring down the mountain side, her eyes kept searching for a cave or something. There had to be some place dark around here where she could hide for awhile. Hide. Ugh. The thought of hiding disgusted her. Was she that weak? That she had to hide in the darkness to forget?
She took a sudden dive, spiraling downwards towards the trees. No. She was not weak. She survived; survived when they didn't. Survival is not weak, thus she was not weak. She was not allowed to be weak... But did yerning for a family make her weak? The fact that she didn't have a family, didn't have a friend, didn't have a home; did that make her weak? Gah.
Before reaching the canopy, she opened her wings and slowed herself just enough so that she could safely dodge the limbs and branches as she made her landing. The small flames at her feet reignited the moment she touched the forest floor. They danced around her paws in a somewhat soothing manner. She was not weak and she could prove it.
Tanoki paid no attention to her surrounds as she sat there in the dark forest and watched the flames around her paw dance. Her mind was preoccupied and so her senses were temporarily disabled. With a sigh, she stared up at the dark sky. "I will find a place to call my home." she said to the air in front of her. As if there was someone standing before her, her stare turned into a sharp glare. "I will not be weak like you were."((Sorry if it sucks. I am the worlds worst at starting these things off))

White paws padded along the forest floor as he traversed the forest, destructive red flames burning in his wake. They were controlled and did not manage to flare more than a few inches from his tracks. A wine-coloured horn shimmered in the minimal amount of sunlight, similarly coloured claws scuffing the ground before him as he walked. Gigantic wings were tightly folded by his sides and crimson eyes the colour of fresh, warm blood glowered down at the ground, a low growl escaping him. He didn't know why he was so aggravated at the moment nor did he really need a reason. It was simply his nature and the nature of his species. Nothing could be done.
Well... Osoreru was only three-fourths 'Daeva, thanks to his dear, darling mother. Despite Blaze's lectures, he still couldn't eradicate the spite from his heart. The way she treated him back when he was younger was something he wasn't going to be getting over any time soon. He had almost given up on it. And then there was daddy-dearest. He had only met him once and the rancor in his heart was so intense that he felt like he could burn a forest down.
In the midst of this internal torture he was putting himself through, a smell wafted through the air, a somewhat familiar one. He sniffed and then made his way towards said scent. And then came a voice, a female voice, and again it was somewhat familiar. He couldn't remember where he had heard it, but he had heard it before. He was sure of it.
'I will not be weak like you were,' she said.
In that moment Osoreru's eyes rested on a black and red female, one that he had met before back at the congregation of 'Daevas. His head pulled back and he sauntered into her view. "I was weak?" he asked, quirking an eyebrow at her.

To be so concentrated on the past and be completely senseless was probably not the best idea considering this land was new to her and she knew of the enormous fox population it held. Tanoki happened to realized that after she had let Osoreru sneak up on her.
The moment the male had spoke, Tanoki snapped back into reality. Startled, the black and red vixen jumped backwards a foot or so and took a defensive pose. She did not growl or snarl, but her black body was tense, claws extended. Bright red flames jumped up and danced their way farther from their creator, singeing many leaves and twigs in the surrounding area. Bright red eyes locked onto the male and began searching him for any sign of aggression. After observing him for a minute, Tanoki realized there was something oddly familiar about him.
Once she realized she was in no immediate danger, Tanoki relaxed her stance, but her sharp gaze lingered on the intruder. "You shouldn't sneak up on a 'Daeva. It's bad for your health." She said in a matter-of-fact tone of voice, trying not to sound to harsh. Tanoki knew very well that this familiar male had no intentions of sneaking up on her. She had let her guard down, it was her fault. But there was no way she was going to admit that to him, or herself.
Ah! After staring at him long enough, Tanoki realized where she had seen him. He had been one of the congregating 'Daeva's in the clearing, one of the level-headed ones.
"I do not know if you were weak or not. I was merely speaking to a ghost of my past, not to any particular living creature." Finally the black and red vixen lowered her gaze and tossed her hair from her face. "Were you weak?" She asked as she batted her tail at some dying branches that had caught fire.
Great. The first guy I come across overhears me talking to myself and is going to think I've lost my mind. My life just can't get any worse.

Osoreru's eyes narrowed as the female dropped into a defensive stance. He thought she would have smelled him, but dismissed that thought. "I am a 'Daeva. I don't believe it could be too bad for my health," he replied with a shrug. He began to wonder why she said that since he was a 'Daeva, and larger than her for that matter, although that was only due to gender differences. He also realized that he never got her name from the 'Daeva congregation. He decided to put that off.
Osoreru shrugged at her question. "Blaze, the 'Phim there, is a rather odd one. He's not your average 'Phim. I personally don't think I would pick a fight against him since I know him better than the others there, aside from my aunt," he replied, contemplating how to actually answer rather than thinking if there was actually anything between Blaze and Ayashii. "So... I don't think I was weak, but I wasn't strong like that black, white, and green 'Daeva who was fending him off better than I would think possible by any fox, with the exception of the 'Deities of course." He took a breath in and let out a sigh from his nostrils, adjusting his wings to a more comfortable position. "Were you weak?"

Though she was still a bit on edge from being so startled, Tanoki could not resist a little chuckle when the strange 'Phim from the clearing was referred to as 'a rather odd one'. Rather odd was truly an understatement. So this new male, and his aunt, keeps the company of crazy, deranged 'Phims. Interesting. Looking the black, white, and red male over again, Tanoki wondered for a moment if he preferred the company of 'Phim's to that of his own kind.
As the vixen listened to the male 'Daeva talk, she was a bit surprised by his answer. Most guys would automatically reply that they were not weak nor have they ever been, or so she assumed they would. But here was a 'Daeva telling her he was neither strong nor weak. Of course he was only speaking of one incident and not in general but that wasn't the point. In the very little time she had known him, he had neither acted aggressive nor arrogant. Back in the clearing, Tanoki had met her first sane female 'Daeva. Was it possible that she had just met her first sane male? She was starting to think this land wasn't capable of breeding sane male 'Daeva's.
"I did not know either in the fight in the clearing so I was neither strong nor weak for staying out of it." She took a deep breath and let her gaze fall to the ground. "I was weak once. But that was a very long time ago." Once again the memories of her past invaded her mind and she quickly distracted herself. "Are there other 'Phim's like this Blaze guy? I mean, other 'Phim's that you would classify as rather odd."

Osoreru shook his head, letting out a light chuckle. "No, there aren't many 'Phims like Blaze. I know of one other good fighter 'Phim, but otherwise... None are coming to mind. Like I said, Blaze is rather odd. If every 'Phim was rather odd, then that would be the norm," he replied. He thought about her reply to his first question and laughed lightly. "I can safely say that I don't think you're weak, well, at least if we go by how much I know about you... Or how little, actually," he said, flicking his ears. He decided to sit down, black and white tail curling around him. He unfurled his wings slightly, just so they were loose and relaxed. "I never got your name," he finally said, looking up at her with his blood red eyes. "I'm Osoreru."

So there was another 'Phim in the area who could fight? What was this world coming to? One that was non-stereotypical, that was for sure. But it was good to know that there were only two 'Phim's around that would resort to fighting before fleeing or whatever else it was they did. Then a thought occurred to her. Tanoki highly believed in balance and where there was an aggressive 'Phim, that meant that somewhere around here she would find a non-aggressive, and probably cheerful, 'Daeva. Now that was a scary thought.
Tanoki dismissed the thought as Osoreru brought the conversation back to being weak before moving on how little each of them knew of the other. He didn't know much about her, yet he sat down, seeming completely relaxed and at ease with her presence. She wondered if it was because he had a family or friends to be social with, unlike herself. Many years in solitude made it harder for her to trust and talk to others.
At hearing him introduce himself, Tanoki pulled her gaze to meet his. And that's when she really saw them. His eyes. Of course she had noticed earlier that they were red but it wasn't until now she realized just how rich their color was. They were such a delicious, warm color. For a moment, she was entranced by them, unable to look away.
Smiling, Tanoki took a few steps toward Osoreru, her bright red eyes locked with his slightly darker ones. "Well I am glad that your first impression of me was not one of weakness." The vixen walked closer to Osoreru that she had meant to before she sitting down, wings folded loosely by her side. She tossed her hair to the side and her smile slowly turned into a playful grin. "My name is Tanoki."

He tilted his head to the side as she stared intently at his face. He began to grow uneasy, wondering if there was something on his face that made him look like an idiot. He didn't blink, for he soon realized that she was merely examining his eyes. He breathed a sigh as she stepped towards him, sitting down and slightly unfolding her wings. She looked just as relaxed as he was. He smiled as a grin formed on her face and she introduced herself. "Tanoki... I like that name," he said. The change in her demeanour was odd, how she could change from being guarded and sharp to relaxed and somewhat playful, bit the black 'Daeva didn't think much of it. He found that thinking about those sorts of things and fretting about them killed the time the could be enjoyed.
Osoreru grew pensive as his mind drifted back to that day with the other 'Daevas, how Blaze could have killed that other 'Daeva the first time he attacked if he chose to. Seeing how that 'Daeva fought, though, if he had attacked first, there was a good chance that Blaze would have been killed... Osoreru blinked with the thought. Blaze was a friend of his, one who taught him how not to be like Uso over there. He could safely thank the 'Phim for that.
He sighed, snapping out of his trance-like state and looked back up at Tanoki. "Forgive me, I was just thinking about the fight back at the clearing," he stated with a light laugh. "I don't know why either... I guess it's because it's fresh in my mind," he added, standing up. His wings opened as he stretched them to their full, glorious width. "Would you like to join me in a flight and perhaps a hunt?"

Tanoki couldn't help but raise an eyebrow at Osoreru when he remarked that he liked her name. She cared not if he liked it or not, it was her name either way. Tanoki felt rather indifferent about her name but she guessed it was better that Osoreru liked it instead of hated it. Since she was given a compliment, assuming liking her name was a compliment, Tanoki wondered if she should give one in return, but decided dishing out compliments was careless matter. A much more interesting matter was the fact that Osoreru seemed almost worried over that 'Phim, Blaze. A 'Daeva worried over a 'Phim? Interesting indeed.
"Perhaps it is because you are worried for your friend..?" Tanoki asked as she stood and gave Osoreru a curious look. Osoreru seemed to be close to this 'Phim, which was rather odd to Tanoki but she cared not who's company the male kept. It was interesting though, that the 'Daeva seemed so concerned over the well being of a 'Phim. Personally she didn't see a reason to. That 'Phim was unlike any she had ever seen before.
"Ah, a hunt is rather appealing at the moment. I could use that sort of distraction."

Osoreru was taken aback by the comment. "Worried? About Blaze?" He couldn't help but laugh. "Have you forgotten how that guy fights, Tanoki? I'm more worried about myself than I am worried about him, which is quite the statement, considering that... well, I'm not one to particularly worry about myself at all," he stated with a shrug. "He is my friend, but I know better than to worry about he who can take care of himself much better than anyone else I know. I was more worried about the 'Daeva... Whatever his name was," he added with a sigh, tossing his hair. "Do you remember his name, or did we just not get it because of that little fight?" The question was somewhat irrelevant at the time and he didn't know why he asked.
He nodded, unfurling a wing and gesturing to the expanse of forest behind him. "There's a meadow out there with plenty of simple prey such as deer. Perhaps we could go there?" he suggested with a raised eyebrow, rich crimson eyes piercing Tanoki's red ones.

So Blaze was Osoreru's friend. Was there really such a thing as being friends with a 'Phim? Could a 'Daeva really be close to them? Had times changed, like in the old days before she was born? Tanoki's mind drifted back to the ghosts of her pasts. She fell awfully still and quite for a few moments. Perhaps the foxes were different here. Maybe if they had lived here instead of there, things would have been different. Maybe she would still have them, they'd still be alive....
Snapping once again back to reality, the vixen shook her head to clear her mind. "No, I didn't catch it." Tanoki said in reply to Osoreru's first question about the arrogant 'Daeva from the clearing. She wanted to question him more about his feelings for the 'Phim but decided against it. Hopefully there would be plenty of time to figure Osoreru out. Unlike most 'Daeva's, her new friend would prove to be a challenge to figure out and Tanoki did love a good challenge.
Simple prey? Tanoki let out a groan and rolled her eyes at the word 'deer'. Hunting deer was no fun at all. They were dreadfully boring and so ridiculously easy to catch and kill. That wouldn't supply any sort of distraction what so ever. Surely Osoreru was more fun than that. He seemed so interesting. But his hunt of choice is deer? Or was it that he didn't think she would be able to take on anything harder? Only one way to find out. "Hm. We could." She said giving Osoreru a sly look. "Or perhaps you know where some better game is?" A smile appeared on her face as her bright red eyes locked with Osoreru's.

"What do you consider 'better game'?" Osoreru asked, tail swaying. He had to admit, deer were... rather pathetic to him. They were no fun to hunt at all. All he needed to do was swoop in on them and crush them with his bodyweight plowing into their forms at full force. It always killed them. And then Aodh and he went hunting some useless game not too long ago. The black 'Daeva made a mental note not to take Tanoki on such a silly hunt.
With a sigh, he looked around, rich crimson eyes scrutinizing every detail of the area. There was nothing here that was even remotely interesting, this much he knew for certain. He assumed that what he would consider prey could smell Tanoki and he, what with the distinctive scent and the smell of smouldering plants staining the air around them. It was rare to see life roaming about in the presence of two 'Daevas... Other than the occasional awfully curious Modifox.

"Something that would take more than one paw to kill." Tanoki said with a small laugh. She liked to hunt things that fought back. She missed the thrill of hunting mountain lions and wolf packs when she was a kit back ho--.... back in the other lands. Ever since her family had broken, she found it hard to take joy in hunting. But it did prove to be a fairly good distraction when she focused on it. Focusing on Osoreru was turning out to be a nice distraction as well. The black and red female made a mental note to keep him close.
Taking in his sigh, Tanoki figured Osoreru didn't know of any good game locally. Or perhaps any good game around here at all. Or perhaps he had a different idea of good game. Or perhaps he did know, but didn't want to share it with her. Or... She cut off the thought. The only way to figure out what someone was thinking was to ask, there was no point in wasting time pondering over what Oso thought of as worthy game. "Do you know of anything around her besides deer?"
