Kairu was up early in the morning, he had been practicing his hunting skills and he was going to find Tahki to show her how good he had gotten. He really hoped that she wold be impressed with him, he had been working very hard.
As he made his way through the swamps he practiced his techniques, swooping down on pebbles and small insects that he saw along his way. He had worried at first that he wouldn't be able to be stealthy what with his bright pink markings, but he figured he made them work for him.
He rounded the last corner to Thaki's den, and he saw the other cub, a huge grin spread across his face, happy to see his friend. "HI!" he shouted as he ran towards here.

Tahki had been busy soaking in the mud. It wasn't til she heard a HI that she noticed the other cub running toward her . Her pink eyes widened, Kairu? She hadn't seen him in ages it seemed like. Playing with others had been harder lately with recent events that were going on and her mother had kept a very close eye on her and the other cubs.
"Kairu?" The cub tilted her head and smiled. She did not get up to greet him though. The mud was nice and relaxing . Tahki just wanted to soak.

Seeing Tahki comfortable in the mud Kairu followed her lead, and ran towards the mud, slipping in to her puddle next to her. The best part of the swamps in his opinion was that he was able to be in mud all the time if he wanted to be, which at times was precisely what the young cub wanted, even though he knew his mother would grumble about how dirty he was when he got back to the den that night.
"Hiya Tahki." He said to his friend, he was very excited to see her, and even more excited that he had been practicing and would be able to show off his skills to his friend. She was older then him and had more practice then him so being able to show something of made him feel very happy.
"How have you been?" he asked her, getting formalities out of the way, one thing his mother had always taught him was to be polite.

Tahki watched as Kairu made him self comfortable in the mud. She had half an amused smile. Sure her brothers loved mud and so did other boys, but Kairu was different how he played with the mud. More gentle.
"Alright," She lied. Honestly, Tahki was bitter that the pride was on such a lock down. The female used to explore this pride with out any problem, now she was limited to a few areas and had to be watched constantly. Tahki still did not understand what was going on.
"What about you? Kill any lizards lately?"

Kairu grinned ear to ear. "I have managed to capture a few lizards lately." he told his friend happily. "They wouldn't give me any information so I had to kill them though." Kairu grumbled he was angry that he had been unable to collect information from the evil lizards, Tahki would have been even more impressed with him if he knew where to find there rulers.
"How about you Tahki, do you have any more information about the lizards." He was fairly comfident that she would have done a better job then he had so far. While waiting for her answer Kairu nuzzled into the mud deeper, enjoying the damp coolness the mud provided opposed to the damp huminity in the swamps.

Kairu had always been really ontop of the lizard invasion. Tahki smiled, this was good info.
"I haven't been able to kill many... Momma's watching us like a hawk. I think something bigs going down though. The whole pride seems to be effected. " She shook her head. This was all those damn lizards faults. "You're a brave solider Kairu," She gave him a grin and splashed mud at him.

Kairu smiled and laughed as the mud came up and splashed him in the face. "I try hard for my general." he told the female. He wanted to look good to Tahki, she was pretty much his only friend in the pride, so her opinion of him was important.
When Tahki mentioned the happenings of the pride his face dropped. It was true what she said, everyone in the pride had been on edge. Kairu didn't really understand it he had heard mumbles here and there about different things, particularly between his aunt and mother, but as soon as they thought that he might be listening they stopped talking and moved away from him.
"I agree I don't like the way the pride has been lately." he looked around himself "I had to beg mommy to come here, she only agreed because I told her that I would come straight here and then back again. Plus she walked me most of the way." Kairu pouted he had been embaressed by the need to be walked by his mother.

Tahki laughed, "Don't worry Kairu, I still think your brave. I have to travel with my mom too. Honestly.. I'm looking forward to going off on the pilgrimage. " She mused. Tahki had never left the swamp in her whole life. The swamp was all she knew and all she cared about.
"What do you think out there is like? " She flopped on her back in the mud. It made a funny squishing noise. Tahki smiled. "You think lizards are out there too?"

Kairu lounged in the mud squishing his toes in the mud, he thought it was a cool feeling of the mud coming up between his toes. "Out there, hrm I don't know what might be out there." Kairu had ventured to the borders of the pride once in awhile but never had he set one toe over the line, out there was different scary and unknown.
"Maybe out there is where the lizards have their kingdom. I am pretty sure there kingdom isn't here, before the lock down I has searched lots and lots and couldn't find anything." he smiled he was proud of how much he had searched.
"I guess you will have to leave for your pilgrim soon Tahki." he was curious about the prides rules on pilgrimage, his mother had never had to go on one, having joined the pride as an adult, but he was intruiged by the porcess. "You will leave before me."

Tahki frowned. She always forgot that she was the older of the two. Kairu had always been there for her. But he was right, she'd be the first of the two to leave to venture out.
"If thats true then I'll make sure that no lizard in that kingdom lives. And I'll bring peace back to our pride. " She was serious. The dread in this pride caused by those evil lizards was enough to cut off every one of their heads. How dare they meddle in her pride. How dare they try to steal her swamp away.
Tahki looked serious.

Kairu managed to mimic the same expressing that Tahki had, he could tell that she meant business. "I wish that I could leave with you and help you fight the great battle. Maybe when I leave I will be able to help, not that we will be together but I can hunt from where ever I am and by the time we find our names and return here everything will be solved."
He nodded his head twice quite pleased with his solution, it was so clear now, if they got rid of all the lizards in the world, then there was no question in his mind when they came back to the pride everything will be peaceful. He looked up toward Tahki to find out if she agreed with him.

Tahki completely agreed with him. She nodded, "Course, we'll rid the world of those lizards and be on our way to a peaceful pride." The plan was flawless in the cubs eyes. Nothing could foil it. Nothing at all.
"I guess first we gotta be bigger though," She was almost there but not quite. Tahki was still a cub. Not big enough to go out in the world. Kairu was even smaller then she was. The two of them still had to get to a point where they could go find their names.
Wasn't gonna happen anytime soon. And they couldn't go now, they were both being heavily watched.

"We will get big soon enough, for now we should enjoy being young." Kariu said splashing mud around. "When we are adults and have our real names we wont be able to do this all the time." Kairu splashed around and got himself and Tahki sufficicently covered in mud.
"Being a cub is great!" he explaimed, then just as if his mother could here his happiness and the fact he was starting to relax he heard her calling him. His whole body slumped forward. "I suppose this means that I have to go." he looked totally defeated.
"I will try to get back soon and see you. And I will keep looking for those dreaded lizards in the mean time, maybe we will be able to solve the prides problems before we even get our real names!" he gave Tahki a quick nuzzle before turning and heading towards his mothers voice.

Tahki frowned. It seemed right when things were getting good an adult was there to mess it all up. Things were different and the different was very boring.
"I'll see you later then. " She was sad to see him go. But at the same time she knew at any moment her mother was gonna probably call her to dinner. It just wasn't fair.
"Bye Kairu.." She forced a smile as she said her good bye.
