Lorcan stretched out a bit as he stood. The sun shone down, warming his back. Groaning, his legs popped, and he shook, loosening himself up. He'd been relaxing for much to long. His legs were stiff, really stiff. He shook his head in annoyance, ears flicking as he picked up the sound of running water. There was some river, creek thing, wasn't there? He was sure he had seen one... He moved off in the direction of the sound. A nice, cool dip in a moving river might bring him back to top form!
And he really wanted to go for a run! His large hooves hit the ground heavily as he slowly shifted from a walk to a slow trot. Birds, hopping along the ground, collecting their meals, fled at the tremors, and bugs hopped into the sky, or flew away. He slowed, reaching the river. Stilling, Lorcan lifted his head and looked around, attempting to discern weather or not he was the only one at this location, and if not... who might be there. He wasn't terribly interested in running into any trouble, but someone more knowledgeable would be useful. A new comer, like himself, might also prove an interesting acquaintance. Perhaps a new source of food info, or, he let himself smirk a little, mares. Or mabye they could be a mare!
He shook his head, calming himself. He was getting ahead of himself. Way, Way ahead of himself! His eyes went back to scanning the river font.

Water everywhere! All around him, splashing up along his sides, waves of water sliding over his back, water in his mane and even in his eyes. Ahhh... this was nice. Inteus loved the water, it calmed him down and let him feel free, almost as nice as taking a good gallop through the forest, or racing birds through an empty field. Today he found himself splashing through a river, one he had only just found, but he had just eaten and felt very happy today. Why? He didn't know. It was a bright and sunny day, birds flying about, singing, calling, rodents darting this way and that, fish scrambling out of the way of his heavy hooves. This was definitely nice.
The stocky draft was happily trotting down the river, not in the middle, but closer to the edge so that he could still pick up his feet easily. When he spotted a fish, he put on a small burst of speed to chase it until it got away from his stomps. After a particularly large fish escaped him, Inteus draw to a slow walk. Inteus was soaked from head to hoof, water dripping from every tuft of fur. In fact, there was water dripping out of his mane and right into his eyes, so as he drew closer to a clearing around the river, Inteus was essentially blind to anything but that water.

A dull thudding caught his ear and he managed to turn and see a light colored stallion moving his way through the water of the river. The other was soaked, Lorcan noticed. And... seemed to have a little collection of something on his neck, he thought, spotting the skull. Interesting... He slowly started again, moving to the waters edge. The other, lighter, stallion didn't seem to notice him yet. Of course with that much hair in his face the stallion wondered how he could ever see.
Then was promptly met with eyes full of his own mane, getting in the way. He shook his head, the hair settling down in between his eyes, out of the way. He stood, watching the odd one, as he mentally dubbed this stranger, move towards him, unknown. Good thing he wasn't some pack of wolves or something, he mused. But he was not in any particular mood to play games with a stranger, so, he stopped beside the rivers edge, and called out to the other.
"You there!" He called simply.

A voice, somewhere to his left. Inteus stopped, shook out his mane and flicked it to the side where it could sit, still wet, but out of his eyes. He scanned the river and then the coast until his eyes landed on a chocolate-colored stallion. He had not heard what the other had said, just that something had been said. Being on the other side of the river, Inteus looked at where he stood and how wide the river was here, then looked back a little ways. There! He looked back at the other stallion, tossed his head in acknowledgement and then galloped back to where he had picked out was the narrowest part of the river. Once there, he plunged into the water and quickly swam across. After having dragged himself out of the water, he stopped to shake off and then cantered back to where the other was. Now he could hear!
Shifting his weight from side to side, the Fjord introduced himself, "Well met! My name is Inteus." Adrenaline still pumped strongly through his veins from the swim, but he was curious as to who this stallion was.

Lorcan watched as he was spotted, and as he was acknowledged. What, was the water do deep for him? He thought as he watched the other take off back to a narrower portion. Or was he just unable to swim that far? He shook his head a little and waiting, watched the other move across and run towards him. He shook his own mane out, tail flicking a little in response. He wasn't terribly interested but, well he had nothing better to do, really, and he had been the one to basically call this stallion to him so... Well it would be rude to walk off now.
Lorcan nodded his head a bit as the other spoke, introducing himself. This one had manners, was his first thought. Introducing ones self before anything. "Nice to meet you Inteus, I am Lorcan." He responded easily.

A slight nod of acknowledgement before the dun began hopping from hoof to hoof. "Nice to meet you, Lorcan," he replied calmly, even though his entire body spoke of wanting to run, but this stallion had called him over, so Inteus would pay him enough respect to see what there was to be said before deciding whether he wanted to go off running or not. "The water's nice today. Cooling, really refreshing." He tossed his mane again, a habit he had earned even though it hadn't been poking his eye at that moment.
As he waited for a response, the dun looked Lorcan over, well really he was looking up, but he wasn't about to make it look like that. The 14h draft had his own sense of pride, but looking at this tall draft before him, had he been a lesser being, he would feel intimidated, but all Inteus felt towards him was respect from one stallion to another; from one draft to another.

Lorcan watched in a bit of amusement at the stallion's seemingly jumpy behavior. Sure, he was small, but was he really that afraid of him? "Yeah, I was thinking about taking a run through it. Work out the legs, and all." He said, voice distant. He was looking the stallion over. Sizing him up, if you will. He was short. But, he didn't expect to run into a bunch of tall stallions or mares, so that didn't bother him, nor strike him as weird.
Finally, he couldn't take it anymore. "Are you ok?" he asked, giving him a strange look. "You seem a little...jumpy." He shrugged a little. The stallion could just be high strung. Or crazy... That was always an option. He looked a bit odd anyway with his... Lorcan paused and looked at the stallions accessories. Yeah, crazy might be an option.

Yes... running sounds like a good idea. Well.. more running, of course. I've already made it down part of the river, but more running definitely sounds good to me., the stout stallion thought to himself as the other spoke. He wasn't sure what he thought of Lorcan yet, but he would be patient and decide from his reactions.
"No, no, no. I'm not jumpy!" Saying this out loud made his legs physically stop moving and he stood still for the first time in this conversation. But he supposed he hadn't explained himself. He chuckled, "I'm just itching to run some more. It's a nice day, and I don't want to waste it, that's all."
A flick of the tail and another scan over the larger stallion, as he waited patiently for another reaction.

Ah, now that he could understand. "I see. Yeah, its a rather nice day. Was just relaxing in the sun a few moments ago, legs are a bit stiff cause of it." He shrugged. Well ok so the little stallion wasn't crazy, just a tad hyper, it seemed. "There is lots of day left though. No need to work yourself out so early. That would be a real waste." He commented. Running yourself ragged earlier just to end up exhausted that night was pointless, he thought. Short, small, runs, with nice basking sessions, were the more logical way to go.
He blinked as his eye caught the... bones? that the other wore. "Sorry, rather rude and all, but what are those..." he motioned with his head to indicated the stallions... decorations. "And why are you wearing them?" He vary well could still be crazy, Lorcan reminded himself. After all, what horse carried around... bones. Animal bones. And where did he get them, and how? Millions of questions flooded his head as he got a little nervous. He's a shrimp, the large stallion reminded himself. If he tried anything, he could take him. He nodded mentally. He could take him.

Inteus shrugged in response to the other's first reply. He could run for hours and not get tired, but that might have come from the self-imposed training he put on himself to become a better hunter. What kind of hunter could get outrun by his prey? Not a very good one, that's for sure. He had worked up his endurance, and he was confident that were it a matter of time, he could outrun any stallion he came across. Of course, he knew he wasn't the fastest runner out there, and he didn't pretend to be. He knew he was short, he knew some would even call him a pony, but the little Fjord had his pride and knew with all of his heart that after a long period of running, he would come out on top. And that was enough for him.
The other stallion motioned towards... ah yes, the bones. Funny how everyone he had come across asks about his necklace with a touch of... fear? maybe just a touch of wariness?... in their voice. He shook his mane out and held his head high and then responded, "Well, they're bones of course. Mostly skulls, a few teeth...," he said as he stomped his back foot to rattle the bracelet consisting of bird skulls and big pointy teeth. "And I wear them as a reminder to myself about how short life really is, and of course... as my trophies. These are my most prized possessions. The birds for their delicateness, and the wild boar for it's strength." He snorted, "Hey, if you had killed a wild boar, you'd want to remember that too."

Lorcan blinked, then backed up a step. Killed a boar? He... The chesnut stallion shook his head out. "You killed a boar?" He asked allowed. A million questions followed in his mind. How? Why? Why would you kill a boar! Sure, they were not the most friendly beasts, but surely a horse would have no reason to kill a boar! Leave the wolves and other such dogs to the killing. That was their purpose, was it not?
"What do you mean you killed a boar? Why?" He asked again, visibly agitated. Calm down, Lorcan, he reminded himself. Don't get all worked up. Calm down, your being rude. He managed to get himself under control and looked at the shorter stallion. Was he really crazy? Did he think he was some wild cat? Or wolf? He could understand, perhaps, if the other carried the things around out of interest, or as simple conversation starters, he'd met others like that when he still lived with his old herd. But the fact that he had killed them... killed another animal... It made Lorcan uneasy. He tensed. He didn't trust this stallion.

He tilted his head at the other stallion's obvious discomfort. He had suddenly gotten twitchy almost, and very tense. Inteus did not understand the sudden irritation, or was there a bit of fear in those emotions? Either way, he stopped fidgeting for a second and waited patiently a moment to see if the other would calm down at all.... Nope.
Confidently and calmly, the Fjord responded, "Yes, of course," as if it were obvious, and completely normal, "I killed a boar. Well it instigated of course, as all boars do. They have horrible tempers, you see. But it became a hunt, after he attacked me. It was just a matter of time and a few well-laid traps to catch the bloody thing. Right difficult, it was." He spoke clear as day, as if this were regular talk between two horses, but he knew that Lorcan did not see it as so. But some were like that, set in their ways, and he could respect that. Not everyone had to hunt, or understand why he did, nor did he really care if this stallion agreed with what he did. But he'd rather avoid any more.... tensing situations....
With that in mind, Inteus stopped there and began to breathe a little more deeply and relaxed all of his muscles, to become prepared for whatever may come next.
